Guest Reviews
- Rachel (6/5): Great location. Great apartment not for families. - Location is immense. So easy and 5 minute walk from the colleseum. I loved the piazza and looking down from the rooftop terrace. Being a family of 4, husband 6ft 3 and im 5ft 10 every morning was a bumped head. The apartment is literally in the roof so has slanting ceiling. The steps up were fine we are all fit - there are a lot with 2 heavy suitcases.
The stairs are very steep and stone. I had pure anxiety with my 7 year old moving from the sleeping area to the bathroom.
- Jasmin (10/5): Wohlfühloase mitten im Kulturerbe! - Lage, Charme & Terrasse.

- Fotini (10/5): - very beautiful clean apartment with all the amenities, romantic ideal for couples with very beautiful views from the apartment but it also has a perfect roof top with a great view both in the morning and in the evening
- Renne (10/5): Absolutely wonderful!!!!!! - Property was very clean and comfortable. Love the fact that the building was 400 yrs old. We had everything needed - shampoo , soap, kitchen items etc. owner was very helpfull
Making dinner reservations and tickets for colosseum. Would definitely stay there again. Steps to get to apt are very steep and there are several flights. . They did mention the steps. Just didn’t expect that many.
- Lisa (9/5): Brilliant location. - Excellent location. Property has a lot of character.

- Tanya (9/5): Cute little apartment at the top of a building - This accommodation is very cute, but there are about 4 flights or so of stairs to get to the rooftop apartment so if you have a lot of luggage or are at the end of your trip, keep that in mind. The apartment itself is really nice, was comfortable, and had all the facilities needed for our 3 night stay. Would suit a couple or families of 4 with young children but not too young because some of the stairs are quite steep. We have 2 teenagers so it was fine. The rooftop terrace looks out to a piazza, and it's gorgeous! This apartment is located in an amazing area with so many restaurants! The piazza has many restaurants and bars within a 1 minute walk. There is also a fountain that has free flowing water where you can fill your drink bottles. It's about a 15-minute walk to the Colosseum, and you can see it from the corner of the street. Great location, we walked to everything, including Fontana di Trevi, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, and Roma Termini. The train station was a 15-minute walk, so there is no need to take a taxi as it takes longer to do so. Check-in was super easy. The instructions were sent a few days before, and we had no issues. Very special little apartment that doesn't disappoint! Just the stairs! We were at the end of our trip so the 30kg suitcases we had were difficult to get up the stairs. But once we saw the apartment, we forgot about the stairs!! ☺️
- Lewis (9/5): Great apartment in a good location - The location of the apartment was fantastic. Very close to the Colosseum but also close to shops and restaurants which was very handy when we first arrived. The property has everything you need, is very clean and easy to access once you follow the detailed instructions. We loved our stay and found the apartment was perfect for us. Our only fair criticism is that it would not be suitable for families with very small children due to the stairs up to and in the apartment.
- Shun-heng (8/5): Great location, comfortable place, killer stairs - Excellent location with multiple shops and restaurants around. 5-min walk to the Colosseum. Place was clean and well set up. The walk up the stairs was very tiring. We are a family of 4 with many luggages, I wouldn’t recommend for family similar to our situation.
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Location great. Roof terrace wonderful A bit small, The stair location was a bit dangerous for kids
- Andrea (10/5): Fantastic Stay with a Stunning Rooftop Terrace! We had a wonderful stay at Rooftop Colosseum with o - Fantastic Stay with a Stunning Rooftop Terrace!
We had a wonderful stay at Rooftop Colosseum with our family. The rooms were beautifully decorated, cozy, and very comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city. The highlight of our stay was definitely the rooftop terrace! It was perfect spot to unwind in the evenings.
The location is excellent, with many attractions within walking distance, making it easy to explore Rome. The staff were also incredibly helpful and friendly. Overall, our experience was exceptional, and we would highly recommend it!
- Nicole (8/5): Host was very helpful in sorting out electricity when we lost power. - Location was excellent.
Had all we needed for our 3 night stay.
Nice rooftops terrace. Yes there are plenty of stairs, just be prepared.
Minimise your luggage if you can.
- Jeremie (10/5): Perfect flat under the roof at a sweet spot between Trevi fountain and Coloseum. - Excellent location, mid way between Trevi fountain and Coloseum. Read a lot of concerns about stairs... We found it pretty easy and quick to climb. The stairs to the rooftop terrace are a little steeper :)
Efficient air con (in August, under the roof, you will need it). Minimalist kitchen but with all the great trattorias around, why bother? Bed and sofa super comfy. Our new go to when visiting Roma. Details, but nothing to complain about. As noted by other guests, there are a few ants in the kitchen area, but really 1 or 2 around the sink, no worries there. Shower head is at 5'10 so if you are tall, better squat for shower!
Really no deal breakers.
- Denis (9/5): Superb - Central location, nice and clean apartment, cozy, designer style light, easy check-in, didn't experience any issue during 5 night stand, feel it like local life there
- Myra (9/5): Comfortable and carefully thought-out place with that special touch, a rooftop terrace - Perfect location from which to explore Rome. The Colosseum is visible from the piazza below the balcony and the Cavour Metro is a few hundred yards away. A few minutes walk to the ancient Forum and the Palatine Hill entrances.
In spite of being under the roof, the apartment is light and airy and the private roof terrace (up a steepish set of steps) is the perfect place to eat and watch the world go by.
A really great private retreat after a day’s sightseeing.
Simon is a responsive host. Nothing, but be aware that the (comfortable) bed is on the (painted, clean, non-dusty) floor and there are lots of stairs to get up and down. The steps within the apartment need careful negotiation.
- Adam (9/5): exceptional - great location low ceilings
- Tommy (10/5): Amazing experience- we hope to be back there again. - Simon instructions were very clear about arrival and departure. The location could not have been beaten. Lots of restaurants all within walking distance. And it’s almost half way between the coliseum and trevi fountain. nothing
- Robert (10/5): Unbeatable location/terrace in the best part of Rome! - We have stayed in different flats in Rome for a number of years, both in summer and winter, and our favourite street is Via Baccina in the Suburra. Close to everything while "hidden away" and calm. This is our favourite flat there so far. With a spectacular (!) view over Piazza della Madonna dei Monti from the rooftop balcony/terrace it is hard to beat the Suburra experience! The flat is cozy (yes!) rather than practical but large enough and very clean. You could easily have dinner inside the flat but with the terrace available, why would you? The host, whom we didn't meet, was very helpful and nice! We will definitely try to book this flat again next time we're in Rome! Highly recommended (with the provisos specified below)!! This is *not* really "didn't like" but more a "mind this before you book". The flat is a top floor flat and the stairs up to it are narrow. If you are in bad shape or "on the big side" you might want to think twice before booking. The additional stairway up to the terrace might more adequately be described as a step-ladder, so again: think about it. Again: as for ourselves WE LOVED IT! :-)
The fridge is on the small side and lacks a deep freeze compartment so we could not make ice cubes, alas.
If you leave any food on the table there will be tiny ants feeding on it soon. But this just motivates you to keep the flat clean! :-)
- Nicola (7/5): Beautiful location clean apartment but difficult with luggage - Location was amazing. You walk out your door and the colosseum you can see at the end of the road. The roof top terrace was lovely. The whole apartment was decorated really well and very clean, had everything we needed and the air conditioning worked very well considering how hot it was. The worst thing for us was that to get into the apartment there were 54 steep stairs. It wouldn’t have normally been a problem for us (we aren’t ones to use the lifts) but .. we had two heavy cases (as we were on a two week holiday) and it was very difficult to get them up to the apartment. Wouldn’t recommend for very young children either as there are very steep steps off the lounge and up to the terrace. Ceilings are very low in the bedroom and the bed is on the floor (something I like but my partner didn’t). Pillows weren’t very comfortable.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Fantastic apartment - Great air conditioning, close to the colosseum, beautiful roof terrace overlooking the piazza Lots of stairs, but they were fine as we are young and fit
- Ali (10/5): Best stay ever. We loveeeeed our stay. We were actually so sad we didn’t stay longer. - Everything was perfect. The apartment was fully stocked , comfortable & clean. Central location! Hostess incredible. Accomodation matched description , it was actually better than the photos! We felt like we were at home! Host was very contactable and easy to communicate with. We were so sad we didn’t stay longer! We loved this apartment like our own! Steps with luggage was a little challenging , but that’s just Europe !!
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - Great location within easy walking distance to many of Rome’s main attractions. Nothing
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay, everything was perfect and we loved it there. We would definitely recommend it.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): What a great space! Clean and bright yet cozy and unique (with fun lighting). Perfect location in a pretty neighborhood -
- Sophie (10/5): Great location and lovely hosts. - It was in a perfection location, very clean, beds are comfortable and the hosts where lovely.
- Catherine (9/5): Perfect apartment near the colosseum - Perfect location opposite a lovely square. Great apartment with a lovely terrace
- Samantha (8/5): Great location, nice and clean! - We stayed as a family of four with two kids age 10 and 9.
The location of this property is excellent, just take ten steps out of the front door and you can see the Colosseum. There are many cafes, restaurants, bars, pizza take away, gelateria all located immediately around the apartment. There is a metro stop 2mins walk away too.
Communication from the owner was excellent, and check in was easy.
The main bed is super comfy, though I would have liked more pillows. The second bed is a bed settee - fine for two small children but anyone bigger would have struggled.
There is central heating and air conditioning which work well - we somehow needed both on one stay.
There is a fridge but no ice box - there was coffee English tea, sugar and cold water waiting for us which was appreciated.
Finally, there were some guidebooks and leaflets which was super useful, we left some leaflets for the 'Roman Food Tour' which we went on which was excellent, we learnt to cook pasta and tiramisu, and booking direct is much cheaper than on Tripadvisor. There was nothing I was unhappy with according to the booking. Some things to note are that it is a roof top apartment in a 5 story building - many stairs to pull luggage up! Also, as seen in the picture, many low beams to hit your head on - I think we lost a few brain cells...
The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner? I am being very picky as the apartment was very clean.
- Richard (9/5): Very good location, few steps from Colosseum. Also close to underground station. Many restaurants and bars around accomo - great location
- Chotowetz (9/5): We loved this place - Perfect location, wonderful atmosphere, exactly as described in the ad. We would absolutely stay here again All good
- Sonya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (8/5): Very good -
