Guest Reviews
- Jeiziel (9/5): - Ubicación fantástica . Personal muy amable , muchas facilidades
- Angelica (10/5): -
- John Peterson (10/5): Excellent services all through my first ever solo travel stay in Athens - I would say the location is pretty much the highlight of my stay as everything from there is walking distance to places to visit by tourist as myself and easy to catch public transport around the area. They also provide excellent services by reassuring their clients and also staff were lovely and very helpful. I like everything provided to me during my stay in Athens.
- Linda (10/5): ich liebe es… -
- Brendan (9/5): - Amazing location and the rooftop was deck was nice The dryer wasn’t working I had to air dry all of my clothes
- Karyna (10/5): -
- Karyna (10/5): Paradiso - Mi è piaciuto assolutamente tutto.
La stanza è piuttosto piccola, così come il bagno – entrambi sono piccoli, ma c’è davvero tutto.
Il proprietario ha pensato a ogni minimo dettaglio.
Assolutamente consigliato! Niente
- Jovane (10/5): - Absolutely everything was great about this place. I loved it!
- Tilo (7/5): Ist nur für kurzzeitig Aufenthalt geeignet - Sauber, Zentrale Lage Sehr eng, kaum Ablage möglichkeiten
- Nilson (9/5): Superb -
- Cynthia (10/5): The host and housekeeping make all the difference’ - Theo was wonderful and I apologize. I did not recall the housekeeper‘s name, but she was welcoming and prepared the space so that in the morning you can make a cup of coffee to get your mind going or a cup of tea provide a jam, honey butter the rooftop Terrace was wonderful, but it’s the people who made it fantastic who manage the facility. I did not care for the shower and did not use it. There are a lot of stairs and I had heavy bags but that’s my fault. I was embarking on a cruise.
- Lawrence (9/5): Superb -
- Emily (9/5): Superb - It is exactly what it says it is a Sleepbox it is a small space but practical for one person the area is good a quiet street just 600m I would say roughly from Monistraki train station, Theo was so nice and responded quickly to any questions I had the room was even ready early and the cleaning lady was so lovely and made sure I had everything I needed, the toilet and bathroom being seperate is really not an issue at all it’s very clean and good value for money walking distance to so many landmarks, will definitely stay again if I come back to Athens! If you go to the rooftop aswell it has an amazing view of the acropolis! Nothing
- Gelmina (10/5): A very details-oriented property with lovely staff and a beautiful rooftop! - Everything is so well thought through! All the little details were a very nice touch ☺️ And the rooftop is insanely beautiful! –
- Martin (10/5): Pleasant 'tiny-house' experience - I really liked this place. It's tiny! Like a so-called 'tiny-house'. Well organized, so you don't actually need more space. Very friendly staff, quiet neighborhood even if it's central.
- Porquiado (10/5): Exceptional accommodation plus cats - The facilities were very clean, and you have everything to yourself if you're a solo traveller. Everything is private and the place is a very quiet neighborhood, so you can really sleep soundly. You also have neighbour cats that were very friendly! Pretty much nothing. The place just looks like it sits in a sketchy street.
- Andreas (8/5): Very good - Very sweet, small but all you need. Very handy. Perfect for a short stay!
- Edmark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edmark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (10/5): Perfect..good value for single person - Comfortable bed. Well equipped. Clean
- Lesley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emmanuel (10/5): Exceptional - A great accommodation concept in the most convenient location with a beautiful terrace. The rooms are small as they are called sleepboxes for a reason but it's absolutely incredible how the owners thought and fitted everything you may need. (a small equipped kitchenette with breakfast in the fridge, slippers, TV, air-condition, folding table etc)
Thodoris has also been very helpful with clear and consistent communication before and during stay as to how to enter the place and everything else.
- Roberto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norma (10/5): Great Location. Value for money. - The room was very clean and comfortable. It is in a great location, easy to get to tourist attractions and Metro. Definitely value for money. It has all you need in the room except the bathroom. The bathroom was private and very clean however it was in another floor. I failed to read this.
- Mercedes (10/5): 5 star service in a tiny sleep box! - 5 star service in a tiny sleep box! Perfect location, very clean and comfortable sleep box with everything you need to start the day. Good bed with enough space for your luggage under the bed, small kitchen with coffee, tea, sugar, and fridge with eggs, ham, cheese, butter, jam, juice a bit of everything to start the morning before exploring the city. Privat bathroom downstairs is not a problem at all, robe and slippers are provided. Beautiful terrace with amazing views (corner view of the Acropolis) and a jacuzzi you can order in advance for an extra price. Very near all the sites, safe area, quiet, easy to find and to get from the airport, many restaurants and shops nearby. You can use the codes provided to get in and there's a set of keys in the sleep box too. Excellent communication and welcome from Theo and his lovely team. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Athens! I hope to come again soon! Thank you for a lovely stay!
- Nicola (10/5): Great place to stay for a solo traveller. Clean and has everything you need. - I stayed in the sleep box. It's certainly compact. But it has everything you need and it's clean. Kettle, tea, coffee, toastie machine, egg poacher, fold out table, food in the fridge, towels, dressing gown, flip flops, shower gel, first aid box.
I had a private toilet and shower. Again, very compact. But everything you need.
I'd definitely recommend it and stay here again. My room was good for a solo person. I would change the milk and offer a veggie and also a vegan option for breakfast. The can of milk tasted like cream and i couldn't eat the cereal. I would have selected oat milk if there was an option.
And for the veggie breakfast, the ham and cheese were in the same packet so I had to pick the ham out.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Yuuka (10/5): I had a comfortable stay here at a reasonable price considering the location. - The location was good for a traveler, it’s close to a metro station that 2 line goes through and not too far from most touristic spots. The staffs were so supportive as they replied to my message instantly even at night. Also Theo welcomed me when checking in, explained about facilities in person. The shower/toilet room is separated from the bed room so I had to go downstairs, unlock the shower rooms lock, lock its door again and go upstairs to unlock the bedroom door. It’s not a big problem at all but it’s still a little bit inconvenient.
- Deborah (9/5): A gem in the pulsating heart of Monastiraki - The place is tiny, it's true, but impeccably clean and comfortable, equipped with everything you may need: toaster, egg boiler, kettle, refrigerator, hairdryer. I was very happy to find tea, coffee, food and water available ( even sealed bread, ham and cheese!): so handy when you arrive late and don't really know where to get some food for the following morning!
WiFi and A/C worked perfectly. Unlike what another former guest said, I found that there was a good level of privacy too: there was a curtain on the front door that, once rolled down, allowed privacy and shade. The door could be opened by a code, but once inside, you had a set of keys available.
I loved the terrace, very well-kept, and the presence of a couple of very discreet kitties too ( allergic people do not need to worry: they keep themselves quite far but still they are a joy to watch!).
Good Korras toiletries in the small bathroom and a well-stocked first aid kit.
The communication with the host was flawless: replies were always fast and helpful.
Location very central: Metro 5 minutes walk, bars, restaurant, antique shops, ice cream parlours, fruit market, Agorà, all very near!
I would definitely re-book this place next time ( as a former Quality Controller for hotels and cruise ships, I was THIS happy!) The toilet and shower one floor below can be a bit of an inconvenience in the middle of the night ( even more so had the weather be rainy and stormy!) but really a minor flaw considering the honest price and the very central location of the studio.
The bathroom is very clean, like all the other spaces
- Petr (8/5): Very good - The sleepbox room itself is small but got all you need! and theres a huge nice rooftop with a great view of Athens just in front of your door. Super nice. I found it ridiculous that you need to pay 10 Euro to leave your backpack for a few hours after checking out, in a kind of locker cage downstairs.
- Lyn (10/5): Exceptional - Immaculate property. Clear instructions with images to follow. Extras like a bike, washing machine, amazing and affordable room service and roof top jucuzzi area with Acropolis view. Booking the jucuzzi from 14.00 to 22.00 for single use alday instead of in part. I am a solo traveller here for one day so I was unable to book/use. Even when finished with by 18.00. Maybe a check in/out system would work where there are more options available
- Fiona (10/5): They thought of everything - So awesome! Perfect for a solo traveller who wants to be in the heart of everything without having to pay millions of dollars.
I had everything I needed and then some. Great views from the rooftop terrace, walking distance to everything, and there's a free bike included in case you need to go a little further. The shower was hand-held, and didn't have a holder like the showers that I'm used to.. I realise now that's a greek thing though.
- Yarden (10/5): It’s not the size that counts, but how you use it! - Great little soapbox with everything needed, including full kitchen utensils, free coffee/tea, bike and helpful host Theo.
Recommended! -
- Chloé (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was lovely - lots of nice things to eat. The Korres shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom was a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. There was some nice attention to details: flip flops and dressing gown provided so you could nip out quickly to use the bathroom / shower. The lady who worked there was very friendly and asked me if there was anything I needed. Lovely lady and very welcoming. Great location: 2 mins walk to restaurants and bars. It was on 2nd floor and there was no lift. There were big lockers with padlocks on the ground floor. There was a charge of 10Euros.It was very useful to have this option, but it would have be nice if the use of the lockers was complimentary. I couldn't make the check-in / check-out tablet work, but I had already filled in the online registration form, so it didn't matter so much.
- Erhan (10/5): I felt very safe and welcome by housekeeping lady and Theo. Fridge filled with snacks and fruits. bike is included, whi - you get all you need, even more i would say..
located very good. easy check-in & out.
And thanks Theo for keeping me updated about the strike of public transport
- Juan (9/5): Superb -
- Office (1/5): Bad - If you want the hot tub, it's 30 bucks more and you need to give them 24 hour notice. Don't want you to get screwed like I did because I didn't read the *fine print*
- Hana (10/5): Exceptional - Tiny but with everything you need. Very comfortable bed. Great area near to center. I felt very safe here and enjoyed very much.
- Roman (9/5): Superb - Bicycle is an excellent option, it was private and ready to use. The room is really tiny but good for one.
It's written that the size is 10 sq m, but I would say it is 6-7 sq.m.
An external toilet means you should walk to another floor to use it.
The pool is for an extra charge (not clear from the description).
Anyway, I liked my stay very much.
- Peter (10/5): A Triumph of Ingenuity - This made me think of Frank Lloyd Wright's dictum 'A House is a Machine for Living'. It succeeds brilliantly in its aim. The slight disadvantage for me, not far off 70, is that I'm not that good with technology and I have to be guided by Theo on a couple of points. If Klaus Schwab has his way we may all be living in places like this and it might not be so much fun 365 days a year but for a short break it's brilliant.
- Sally (9/5): loved my stay in the Sleepbox - it was in a fabulous location and was all very immaculate though very compact. The terrace was a calm and large place to
relax and the little touches made it very homely. I can’t say I didn’t like anything but the room is small so you need to be organised in your little nest.
- Safwan (9/5): An almost perfect stay at Monastiraki City Sleepbox. - The location was perfect, and the room was very clean. I enjoyed the snacks that were on offer in the room and slept very well. The terrace is very spacious with a view of the acropolis (great place to relax). There were absolutely no issues with WiFi (perfect internet connection). The host was very helpful and quick to respond to queries via booking.com (host informed me about a public transport strike that I wasn't aware of). I was able to put many big bottles of water in the fridge - this is very important if you plan to spend a lot of time walking around Athens on a daily basis. Overall, I thought the accommodation represented great value for money. Unfortunately, the dryer didn't work well for me despite being taught how to use it. I wasted a lot of time waiting for my clothes to dry with no effect. Eventually, I had to look for a laundry service to wash and dry my clothes. A laundry service was on offer on-site, but I like to take care of my own clothes and use an effective dryer, especially the day before I have to leave. Also, I had to relocate the toilet paper before a shower so that it wouldn't get wet (very minor inconvenience). I would give my stay a 10/10 rating if the dryer worked well. Oh yeah, I didn't use the dumbbells - the space could have been used for my shoes 😊
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meng (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was good!
- Meng (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was cool. The best thing to me was to see the beautiful Observatory through the window when getting up from bed. The night view on the terrace was also nice accompanied with a takeout dinner.
- Dita (10/5): It was perfect. Great location. Comfortable and very well equipped. -
- Anna (10/5): Absolutely unique and exceptional place to stay for a solo traveller, which exceeded my expectations - It is an absolutely unique place in the best possible way.
- The concept of a small space for solo travellers at an affordable price but combined with the enormous outdoor shared space is just a brilliant idea in the climate that Athens offer.
- The hosts' attention to detail to make guests feel good is just exceptional. They are always there for you to answer any questions you might have and they are extremely friendly.
- The equipment of the room makes you feel at home and welcome from the moment you walk in. There was a basket of foodstuffs waiting for me there, along with some water and juice which is exactly what a tired traveller needs upon their arrival - what a great surprise! I personally appreciated the sports equipment - the dumbbells and a TRX set on the rooftop terrace to do your workout routine outdoors.
- The option to use the jacuzzi at an extra cost is brilliant too - if you are up for a little bit of luxury :)
- The idea of trying to remain as eco as possible while travelling is very dear to me so I very much appreciated the solar panels and the fact that the building is sustainable.
Sadly, I did not manage to use the complimentary bike due to the lack of time, but again - what a magnifcent idea! If only I travel again to Athens as a solo traveller, I won't even think twice - I will stay at the Sleepbox again and hopefully experience cycling in the Athens traffic this time :) - You need to go outside to get to your private bathroom - this was not an issue at all in warm Athens early autumn temperature, but I wish there was a clearer indication of that in the property description (unless I missed it), as it might be an issue for some other people. I found out about it from the reviews
- Paid luggage storage at a quite steep price. I did not need to use it after all, but I guess most of hotels/hostels offer a free one and there are also cheaper storage options just down the street. The moment I visited the price of luggage storage at the Sleepbox was 10 EUR, which I think is a lot
- I asked the hosts if I can invite 2 friends over to the shared rooftop space and the answer was no. I fully understand the rules and that they had issues with events on the rooftop in the past... but at the end some other guests staying at the same time as me made a bit of a mess there during the night, while I was declined inviting two respectful friends over during the day :) Absolutely no hard feelings and I understand the reasoning and respected the decision, but I think the hosts could be a little more flexible about it if someone asks politely and in advance :)
A little bit of counstructive feedback there but none of it influences my overall impression: ABSOLUTELY EXCEPTIONAL AND UNIQUE PLACE TO STAY!
- Mariia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vít (10/5): Luxury tiny accommodation just in downtown Athens - Tiny but very comfortable place just in Athen's downtown. The roof whirpool is amazing. I like when somebody thinks about the details and everything was prepared and equipped for the last detail, e.g. kitchenware, key for the bike, slippers, navigation materials, green line on the floor, door codes, etc. I don't know what to improve. I was just a little bit confused with the key boxes next to the doors. But I finally realized they are for some other purposes and codes I've received by e-mail are just for the electronic keys.
- Justine (9/5): Superb - Super cool location all the awesomeness right there and also then you can cruise anywhere by metro. Felt like I got real lucky when I arrived. It's a quiet place to sleep but also super close to all the excitement incl night life.
Love the sustainability aspects really cool way to show people how.to.do.things and make people aware.
Little details and how the place is designed is cool...everything is small but really pretty, even the bathroom is nicely made up. The bathroom being a flight of stairs down so if you need the loo in the middle of the night it's a bit inconvenient but that's a small detail and wouldn't have affected my choice of the place at all. Would come and stay here again anytime :)
