- Karen (3/5): Wouldn't recommend - The location - short walk to Barra lighthouse and the beach. Supermarket 2 mins away. Safe street Bathroom modern Despite being charged a 'cleaning fee' (which was not advertised before paying) the apartment wasn't clean. Our feet were black from the floor, the pillows were absolutely disgusting, the fans thick with dust, saucepans and chopping board dirty and the main toilet didn't flush properly (despite putting paper in the bin) and huge ants crawled in every evening. We waited nearly 2 hours from 3pm check in for our fresh bed sheets and towels to arrive, we'd been up since 5am to fly to Salvador and just wanted to relax and shower before we went out for the sunset but we couldn't. Communication was poor. No one responded when I sent a WhatsApp about this issue to tell us what was happening. In advance of the stay no one responded to my emails through booking.com and we only received check in instructions on the morning of arrival which was very inconvenient as we were traveling, without WiFi. The building itself has 2 locked entry gates which is good but the apartment balcony doesn't lock, nor does the little gate just outside the apartment so these security issues need improvement The apartment is up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator so hard work if carrying luggage
