Guest Reviews
- Jill (10/5): A fabulous experience in Amsterdam! - Comfortable. Great location. Secure and lots of light. Great place to stay and watch the world go by! Make sure you wave at all the boats. Nothing.
- Rachelle (10/5): - Such a wonderful place to return to at the end of a busy day. We loved opening the windows and seeing the ducks. Lovely places to eat in the neighborhood. Easy to access the tram, only a short walk.

- Flore (9/5): Wonderfully calm - Really lovely place to stay - being so near the water and seeing the ducks swimming past was so calming.
Also we were able to arrange late check out which was great. -
- Stephen (8/5): Fantastic base for a weekend on Amsterdam - Excellent, quiet location, within close walking distance to the centre of Amsterdam.
Beautifully set out houseboat, with great amenities. The coffee maker and pods were really appreciated.
Interactions with the host were pleasant. Lost power affecting houses on the canal, on our first night, which meant that items in the fridge went bad. We do understand, however, the power cut was nothing to do with the owners.
- Elin (10/5): Great place! - Nice and clean. Close to trams.
Very comfortable beds. Would stay again!
- julie (8/5): - The house boat is in a good location, just around the corner from the tram stop. It was dark when we arrived. On first appearance, it was clean, and the bathroom was very functional. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the shops were local with an abundance of eating places in the old tram shead. The only downside is that there is no hotplate or oven in the house boat, only a toaster, microwave, kettle, and a coffee machine, which makes it extremely expensive to have to eat out every night especially when you have to feed child each evening. However, I would stay there again, but without the children as I found it difficult to accommodate their dietary needs. There is no wardrobe or cupboard space for your clothes, so be prepared to live out of your suitcase. NO HOT PLATE OR OVEN.. This situation forced you to go out and eat. Microwave meals are not suitable for our dietary requirements as we have intolerance to certain food products and ping food contains a lot of the things that we can't eat. This was my most important disappointment. Also there is no wardrobe or cupboard for your clothes and you have to live out of your suitcase.

- Ryan (10/5): - Spacious , location , cleanliness everything really Nothing I have nothing negative to say, exceptional stay
- Wendy (10/5): Perfect family base for exploring Amsterdam - The houseboat was as pictured. Perfect for our family. I loved having morning coffee looking at the water and watching the ducks. I liked the decor and artwork. The coffee machine was excellent. We used the egg steamer to make boiled eggs for breakfast with toast. We used the microwave to heat up soup from the supermarket for dinner with a fresh baguette. It was close to a good sized Albert Hain supermarket. We walked into the centre and to all museums. We needed more plates. One of the plates was so cracked we didn’t want to use it.
- Emre Özgür (10/5): LOVE IT! - It was a cute boat house. We were afraid that it'd be cold before we go but heating system was really good. The garden requieres a bit of maintenance.
- Verhulst (9/5): - Everything felt very homely and cozy. The place was very clean. It seemed very quiet as well, which was nice. The TV had some nice options as well for streaming services. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was lovely. It would get a bit hot inside, and there was no real way to regulate temperature.
- Julia (8/5): -
- Mandisa (9/5): -
- Philip (9/5): - Lovely boat in a nice quiet location, about 20 minutes walk from the main part of the city One of the beds was missing a duvet and pillow
- Matheus (10/5): -
- Emily (10/5): 3 nighter in the snow. - The houseboat was fantastic.
Great small touches like enough coffee pods for the whole stay, shampoo and shower gel and games.
This was a fabulous unique stay, close to trams, which we used a lot and vobdelpark so we could play in the snow during our stay. We also ate at the food hallen close by a couple of times which had a great atmosphere and large variety of food. Nothing.
- Luca (8/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Liudmyla (10/5): -
- Harvey (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful houseboat in a great location, coffee machine was a nice touch! Nothing.
- Andrew (10/5): - Super unique place, spacious, well furnished. Friendly and helpful hosts. Our kids loved feeding the ducks in the canal in the morning!
- Ann-Marie (10/5): -
- Nicolas (9/5): Sympa belle expérience - Fonctionnel, lit confortable, insolite Déco un peu vieillotte
- Christian (9/5): Sehr schönes Hausboot in ruhiger Lage.
- Merilyn (10/5): Best place to stay in Amsterdam. - This is one of our favourite places to stay. We loved feeding the ducks from our window. The location is amazing, so quiet yet close to lots of cafes, bars and shops. The fantastic Foodhallen is 5 minutes away and there is even a cinema just across the canal. Everything is within easy reach so we just walked to the sights however, the tram is only a few minutes walk. The houseboat itself was really comfortable and well equipped. I can’t imagine a better place to stay in Amsterdam. The towels didn’t smell fresh but since there is a washing machine, we just put them through the wash. We were all bitten by something but I guess this is to be expected dating on the water.
- Adam (10/5): Unique stay in Amsterdam.Book this! - Perfect space for a family of four. Quiet area but yet still an easy 20-30 minute walk to all attractions. Amazing spot. We loved it. Nothing!
- Tetsuya (6/5): -
- Izik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dsm (8/5): Unique stay in a lovely residential part of Amsterdam, central areas easily accessible by tram. - In a quiet location with easy access to the rest of Amsterdam via tram or walking. Lovely to witness day to day life on the canal with boats going past, kids swimming, bird life enjoying the water.
The host was easy to deal with. An initial issue encountered during our stay was rectified quickly. The gate to the houseboat is not too obvious from the street. The house number is past the gate and fence so not actually visible until you have already accessed the property.
The path to the locked gate is obscured by weeds, there wasn't adequate lighting and this posed an issue for us when we arrived late at night. A neighbour across the road tried to help but he couldn't find the entry either. We finaly found it after some searching. This is an issue that can be easily rectified, it seems a lot of other guests have also pointed this out already.
- Hartzell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barrett (10/5): This place was a bit of a splurge for our family but was totally worth it! - It was a fun, unique experience for our family. The coffee and coffee maker was wonderful. The toaster and mini fridge allowed us to make simple meals at home. The kids (and adults) loved feeding the swans from the window. We had minor bumps in the road during our trip to Amsterdam and Melle was super helpful and it was wonderful meeting and chatting with him. My husband loved walking to 5 ways coffee, we saw a movie at lab 111 and got some drinks (just across the canal) and walked all OVER the city. Great holiday! None
- Sam (10/5): Unique, comfortable and well located - Great space, it was nicer and larger than we expected. It was great to chill and watch the canal boats go by or to sit outside on the deck. The curtains section the space well. Convenient location near the centre and vondelpark, and there’s a pretty suburb just over the nearest bridge. It’s completely clean, but some of the furnishings mean the air can be a tiny bit dusty if that’s a concern for you, but we just opened the skylight window a touch and it was fine. It is a very minor ‘con’, on the whole everything was perfect.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Great find as for the price it was very large, quiet location, and you're on a houseboat! I loved watching boats or paddle boarders go by and the patio was nice to enjoy the warm sunshine.
Not far from public transportation which made getting around easy.
- Justin (10/5): Smooth sailing (whilst permanently moored). - First of all, the host is excellent. Communication was smooth & polite. We appreciated him considerably.
The part of the houseboat dedicated to guests is a generous size & the curtains that can be drawn across for some privacy worked well. Nice to look out onto the canal & open the windows for some fresh air.
I wouldn't advise staying here if you plan to make a lot of noise. It's a quiet part of the neighbourhood & the host (owner, I think) of the boat lives next door. Always best to be a bit mindful & respectful. Not sure how well insulated (noise) the accommodation section is from the rest of the boat. We (3 single, responsible people that don't party too hard) didn't have any issues though. :-)
Maybe bring a small torch or use your phone light (at night) to access entry via gate & navigate to the front door.
- Jenny (10/5): Relaxing, enjoyable and value for money - Easy to find, quiet area. Only 20minutes from main areas.
- Claire (8/5): My kids face's were priceless when they realize we were staying on a proper Amsterdam houseboat! - Location, windows, interior design and flexible layout. Some of the crockery was past its best.
- Carol (9/5): Loved the Amsterdam vibe. - We felt at home as soon as we arrived. There are no real cooking facilities but a fridge and space to prepare breakfast and packed lunches. Coffee machine was a bonus! Loved the layout with the beds and curtains for privacy. Very relaxing sitting and watching people travelling over the bridge. Tv and streaming meant we could chill out after busy days exploring the city. This accommodation really made our Amsterdam trip special and memorable, thank you!
- South (9/5): Superb -
- Benjamin (9/5): Loved it! - Quiet and accessible location. Close to food hall and great dining options. Many extras were provided like shampoo, body wash, towels, coffee maker, electric water kettle, etc. Didn’t feel like we lacked anything! Hosts were responsive and helpful!
- Brian (10/5): A perfect place to stay - A home away from home and yet a new experience Everything was perfect
- Marilyn (10/5): Would recommend it for sure. Just a few little tweaks to be made - Interior decor The house no is on the left hand side so we tried to enter there but it's split in two so we were disturbing another resident when trying to find our way in. Instructions for entry could be a little clearer. When it rained the roof leaked. First in the kitchen. Then directly on top of one bed.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Very cosy and had all we needed Loved everything!
- Franziska (10/5): amazing and fun accomodation, even on a rainy weekend - its a houseboat and im the morning you have the ducks swimming by to ask for some food
- Sarah (9/5): A different and fun experience that I would definitely recommend - This was such a fun and different place to stay. We were in a great location with only a short walk to restaurants, shops and public transport. The hosts were lovely and very attentive and the beds were comfy and the bathroom a nice size. The boat itself was large, quiet and we had swans tapping on our windows each night which was hilarious. The only thing that could do with improving was a more functional oven, however this gave us an even bigger reason to explore the local restaurants.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (8/5): Very good - The boat was lovely, had everything you needed for a very comfortable stay Nothing
- Mervyn (8/5): very pleasent and roomy for the 2 of us - The houseboat was a great quite experience not too far from the heart of Amsterdam, was very close to public transport that we used a lot and close to a good range of shops. The kettle didnt work and i could not turn the heater up, also no cooktop. I asked for queen bed but got 4 singles
- Susan (7/5): We had an enjoyable stay - The location was great. The room is a bit too dark and the entrance to the property is not very well marked, especially at night.
- Jo (9/5): A fantastic experience, loved our stay in a houseboat - Lovely houseboat in a great location. You can close the curtains around the beds for a little privacy. Very relaxing sitting with the windows open watching the boats go by Pillows were very soft
- Nico (10/5): Very cool and unique place - Very cool place! Never been to a houseboat before, the opening of the window in the morning and the fresh air as well as the friends we've made (ducks swimming up and down the canal) were really nice :)
Nice and many amenities - free shampoo, a box of different tea bags, coffee pads, ...
Excellent price-performance ratio, we will definitely come back!
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Very peaceful ,nice to watch the boats passing, location close to shops bars etc and not far from the centre..would stay again Bed was comfy, pillows were too soft for me and l do like 2 pillows ,as bed only had 1 each but nothing to moan about.
- Linda (7/5): Good -
- Isabel (9/5): Boathouse Experience - Location and Views. The accommodation is also very cozy. It was definitely a memorable time. The pillows were too flat. It wasn't too comfortable for head support.
- Luca (9/5): Superb -
- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (9/5): Superb - Cute space and a great location! Foodhallen was nice to have so close by. A wonderful, friendly cat paid us a visit on the porch which we all loved. Having access to a washing machine is always such a bonus too! The beds were very comfortable and we were very glad that they had fans available for us to use to help keep the boat cool enough. The keys are a little difficult to use and we could tell we weren't the first to have issues as one of them is quite bent. We had hoped that the small kitchen would have been a little better equipped but we just ate out more than we planned in the end. The mirror in the bathroom seemed a bit of an odd height for us. Maybe it's normal so definitely not a complaint...just a comment.
- Phil (9/5): Can’t wait until we get to stay there again! - Friendly owners; great location; very comfortable.
- Jacqui (8/5): What a unique delight. We loved watching the many boats go past on the canal. - The Houseboat was in a easy to navigate location within walking distance to many things. Tram locations just down the rd. It does get very hot in the summer and takes a while to cool down even with all windows open
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Finding a well-rated property in Amsterdam in July within reasonable distance of the many interesting areas of the city for four adults at a price that is fair and doesn't break the bank can be a challenge, yet this houseboat meets the objective. It is a large one room sleeping/living area, with a completely separate bathroom, but the sleeping quarters can be curtained off to create privacy. A small kitchen area allows for light meal management. The real treat is the large window/seating area directly on the canal; with the window open it is a joy to be directly on the water. The canal is lightly traveled, and quiet. While the city is walkable from here, a better bet is a tram day pass; the stop is just 3 minute walk away. Finally, our host's flexibility with our bags at check-out due to a late flight was most appreciated. We would happily return. n/a
- Lisa (10/5): Fabulous accommodation!! Great for a family of 4. Great location , quiet , spacious and a home away from home in Amsterd -
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- Tiffany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (8/5): Loved being on canal, so easy to access transport, markets, eating place & ordinary shopping. - Location. Felt safe. Loved being on the canal. Made great use of washing machine & dryer. Close to tram stops. Enabled us to see outer city but easy to get central access. The access from gate to front door could be made more user friendly.
- John (10/5): It was great! - Very comfortable, clean and fun. We enjoyed watching the boats go by and the waterfowl when relaxing in the room. It’s close to transit and easy to get to places. We enjoyed the neighborhood and it’s more local feel (we’ve previously stayed in the older parts of the city which are more touristy).
- Patricio (10/5): Great Boathouse above the canal - The window above the canal, barbecue and table in the terrace. Everything is perfect!
- Annabelle (10/5): We loved our stay on the boat, cosy, well equipped and located in an exciting part of the city. The kids loved coming ba - The location was amazing and gave us a great experience of living on the water. We enjoyed breakfast with the ducks floating by and spent the evenings playing board games after dinner. The local indoor food hall was fantastic, the local neighbourhood had so much to offer. We used the trams with ease to quickly get to all the sights.
- Giancarlo (9/5): Unique experience in the canals of Oud West. We enjoyed our stay in this versatile and comfortable houseboat. We wish we - The experience of staying in a house boat was the best. The place has curtains that you can move to create private spaces. The silence and calmness of the water.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Mabee (9/5): A value splurge - It was very comfortable, nice to relax and look out the window at the birds and the water.
It was a good location for exploring the city and also very close by there were lots of good food options. We loved the food hall the most.
The host went above and beyond when there was a miscommunication and gave us treats to apologize.
We are also able to do a little load of laundry.
I liked how the curtains could be pulled around the beds for privacy to separate the room which was open concept.
I did a lot of looking around for the best value houseboat to stay in, which overall is a bit of a splurge, and thought it was worth it for the experience. Extra blankets for the sitting area by the window and for the beds would have been a nice addition but we didn't ask and if we had it probably would have been provided.
Better lighting by the full length mirror would have been nice for getting ready.
The bed was comfy but two singles pushed together to make a double isn't that great for two people to cuddle in the middle.
- Paraskevi (6/5): Good location, nice vibe moderate cleaning and attention to detail. - The location is great, old west part of town with a nice vibe and lots of great places to grab coffee and food. Also the tram is nearby and very convenient to stay connected with the rest of city. Also, it’s great that the canal is right in front of the window making it very cost especially in the evenings. The place was not super clean, especially when traveling with young kids that tend to look into and touch everything. Behind the stairs was very dusty, also the entrance was very slippery something that could have taken care of with some salt as the weather conditions were icy these days. Last thing is that noise insulation is not great, thus when guests arrived in the apartments next door we could hear them clearly cooking and eating dinner.
- Tennyson (10/5): Perfect in every way. - I can not say enough about this place. Perfect location and great space. I want to go back. I would literally live there. Nothing
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Great location, very comfortable accommodation with easy walking to all Amsterdam tourist attractions. - Great location, very comfortable accommodation with easy walking to all Amsterdam tourist attractions.
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): The perfect boat - We had a great time. The boat is very comfy, and has everything you would need for a few days of stay. Never stayed at a boat - were not let down. The fact that you wake up and there are some ducks cruising around you is just a very unique experience. You should try it Nothing - everything was perfect.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Hikaru (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy houseboat in an excellent location
- Debbie (8/5): Very good - Lovely, unique accommodation. Located close to bars, shops, and restaurants.
Boat has everything you would need for a short stay.
The lighting on the boat is darker than expected. But it wasn't a massive issue.
There's no storage space, like wardrobes. But there are plenty of facilities, like hairdryers, iron, microwave and much more.
The city centre is about 35/ 40-minute walk. Or there's a tram link located 5 minutes from the boat house.
I'd definitely recommend staying here. And I'd definitely stay here myself again. There is no storage space to hang clothes.
Bathroom steam set off alarms twice as we could open the windows. So, I had to keep the front door open after showers.
Lighting poor
- Christos (10/5): Excellent and cost houseboat - Really liked the experience of living in a houseboat.
Also amazing mattresses and very nice bathroom. Nothing but the weather which we were a bit unlucky
- Amber (10/5): Best idea ever! - The location of the boat was great. It was in a fun neighborhood with great restaurants and near the team line. The boat was quiet and restful and such a great retreat after full days of sightseeing.
- Anonymous (10/5): My four family members enjoyed our stay. - Curtains for privacy, Quiet, good space, convenient to transportation, close to the park, close to an excellent food court.
- Cox (10/5): Exceptional - Great location!! Very clean and comfortable! Not one complaint!
