Guest Reviews
- Jane (9/5): - Beliggenhed. Indvendigt rent og pænt. Kunne gøres hyggeligere udenfor
- Vibeke (8/5): Cozy houseboat right in the heart of Amsterdam - Cozy and great location.
- Serena (10/5): -
- Cala (9/5): good location nice area - the stairs werent a problem for us at all, treat them like a ladder and youll be fine.
beds were clean
nice place outside the boat to chill and smoke
- Adelle (10/5): - Perfect location Could do with more windows that can open
- Mette Boye (9/5): - Vi ønskede at komme ind før og det var ingen problem. God service fra værten om området transport og restauranterne
- Šnajder (9/5): - Lokacija, neobičan ulaz u apartman i ljubazan domaćin
- Laura (9/5): Great position, comfortable facilities - Perfect position, well connected and safe area. Lovely neighbourhood cat The entrance stairs are a bit steep
- Anne (6/5): Very central and quiet. - It was very hot. Although there were fans.
The boat was very well furnished the only comment I have to make is that there was no shampoo, soap, shower cap and plug for basin. A small carton of milk would have been appreciated.

- Jérôme (10/5): - L'emplacement proche du centre ville, la propreté de la péniche et le plus important : la disponibilité et la gentillesse de Amber et Casper Rien du tout
- Hannah (10/5): Friendly hosts and excellent location - Amber was super friendly and helpful
- alegim (9/5): Linda experiencia en la casa barco - La casa barco es muy cómoda, estaba impecable y con todo lo necesario para nuestra estancia. Amber una excelente anfitriona, siempre atenta a todas nuestras necesidades.

- Chris311 (7/5): Great spacious accommodation, but don't expect a houseboat experience - The space is really good. A large reception area, good little kitchenette and a massive dining table. Two separate bedrooms with their own showers and basins. Compared to most places in Amsterdam this is much more space than average. Skylights provide a good amount of natural daylight. Although you are staying on a house boat...don't expect a houseboat experience. We genuinely thought we'd be Abel to see the water and have some nice views but here is zero view. The small posthole windows on dockside are below the pavement level so you can't see out and water side view is blocked by a big yellow ugly, rusty old tin boat thing that completely blocks any views and makes you feel your staying in a junkyard. Inside the accommodation is very nice and comfortable, no way you feel like you're staying on a boat or even the water. The only light comes from the skylights, which you can't see out of because of the polythene over the top, but you can't block out the light either so your up at daybreak. Steps into the boat are super steep and precarious too, proceed with extreme caution! If you want space inside this is great, if you want to feel like your trying on a houseboat it's not so good.

- Andrew (9/5): Great stay - very welcoming, responsive and accommodating hosts, ideal location for a short stay in Amsterdam - Great location and enjoyed the opportunity to stay on a houseboat - something we have not done before. N/A
Fazit: Immer wieder gerne. Place to stay, für das volle Amsterdam Erlebnis!
- Len (8/5): Very good - This house boat was quit central to shops etc.
- Ann (8/5): Very good - Great location! Casper, the host, was very helpful
- Garth (9/5): Superb -
- Greta (6/5): Casper was great, but we wouldn’t stay there again because Of the difficulty of the location for us. - The location on a houseboat was pretty quiet and spacious. Nice kitchen facilities and comfortable beds. Wonderful host. It’s not for older people like us - all in our 80s. Difficult to get to. Two of our party had difficulty walking; so we had to take taxis, but we had trouble getting them where we were. Casper got us a taxi when we left for the airport.
- Tristan (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (8/5): A unique experience! - It was very centrally located. Comfortable, warm and great showers in both bedrooms. Would have made it more comfortable to have at least one more toilet in the property- perhaps an en-suite in one of the bedrooms. Also a TV and radio would have been nice so guests can have some entertainment if the weather is bad and to relax at night.
- Wiebke (9/5): Superb - Excellent location and interaction with the host.
- Aaron (9/5): Superb -
- Jamie (10/5): Unique and cool experience in the heart of Amsterdam - Location was amazing. Host was amazing too - very helpful and knowledgable on local area. Definitely ‘quirky’ - but it was our first time on a houseboat so it was a lot of fun. Weather was fine but if it had got very hot would have needed aircon. But I’d definitely stay there again.
- Julie (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay and it was very different to anything we had experienced before so perfect for us on this occ - The boat was in a great location and very central and close to the train station, which was great. Casper, the host was very very helpful.
The boat was perfect for us having two bedrooms and two bathrooms and it was a really good space The location was really good, boat was absolutely fine with everything that we needed but the steps down into the boat are very steep and we might have struggled without my husband to help with the bags plus not great if you’ve had a few drinks!!
- Ciara (7/5): Amazing location, friendly host, boat was clean and had all we needed but no air conditioning made our stay uncomfortabl - The location was amazing! It was quiet in the night time. The beds were comfortable and we had enough space for 4 people Number 1 thing was air conditioning. The period we booked was very warm in Amsterdam and the boat was reading 31 degrees at night. We opened all doors and windows but these didn’t help at all. We were supplied 3 fans but 1 didn’t work. It just made our stay a little uncomfortable.
- Chris (8/5): Quiet, convenient place to stay. - The location is excellent, and only a short walk from the main sights and the central station. The owner is very friendly and incredibly helpful. The rooms become rather warm in the summer. Fans are provided, but air conditioning would be better.
- Monique (10/5): We made memories of a lifetime in this unique and centrally located houseboat in Amsterdam. - It was unique. We normally stay in hotels. Casper, the host, was very helpful and responsive. We like local eating spots and Casper was a great resource. Separate beds for my teenagers in the second room. This is not a criticism because it was unseasonably hot and there isn’t air conditioning because they, normally, don’t need it. Casper provides fans which made it comfortable. Also, we are Americans and we like ice. There is no freezer so we got ice in our hydro flask and it worked fine. When you have a great host, you don’t care about the little stuff.
- Caroline (6/5): Great place to discover Amsterdam but a few upgrades could make it even better. - - The host answered any questions or texts in the matter of minutes. He helped us with many things such as how to activate our SIM cards. He was really kind and responsive. He even gave us many restaurant recommendations around the neighborhood because it can be difficult to find good and local places around the boat.
- The location of the boat was excellent. We were at a 8 minutes walk from the Central Train Station and within 15 to 30 minutes of walking, every areas of Amsterdam were accessible. Make sure to take the time to go to Lot61 to get your morning coffees.
- The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked some meals on the boat and it went smoothly.
- It was pretty quiet on the boat. - Getting on the boat can be tricky, the stairs are really steep and similar to a ladder. We had to work the 4 of us together to get our luggage in and out of the boat.
- No view on the boat. There was an old abandoned boat right next to the boathouse, so we didn’t even see a bit of water and on the other side, we couldn’t see the road or anything.
- We had rainy days and nights while we were staying on the boat and the roof leaked at several places, such as in the living area right next to the dining table or even in the master’s bed.
- Be aware that the master’s bed is made out of two twin beds put together.
- John (9/5): Great location. - Staying on a houseboat across from the train staduim was very cool. The location for getting into town was great.
A 10 minute walk to get a train to the airport was priceless. We were in Amsterdam when it was unusually hot. Because this is a barge it heart limited ventilation. Some better fans would have helped.
Although not a lot of steps a large suitcase really needed two people to manage.
- Vibeke (9/5): A super nice stay - Very cosy and centrally placed. The host Casper helped us with adresses for good restaurants and was very accommodating.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (10/5): Home away from home loved staying here best stay in Dam yet - It was comfortable, clean and perfectly situated
- Joao (10/5): Lovely stay in Amsterdam. - Everything. Comfortable, clean, spacious, well located. Casper is a great host. Nothing all good.
- Bogdan (9/5): We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed our time in Amsterdam - The location was central and quiet like we wanted it. The apartment was spacious, nicely warmed up. Comfortable beds. Nice showers. The host greeted us at arrival and explained how everything works, gave us good recommendations where to find nice good restaurants for reasonable prices. The weather I guess but we can't do anything about that unfortunately
- Joanne (10/5): Somewhere different to stay fabulous location Casper was friendly an helpful boat was fabulous all round great stay - Everything Nothing
- Melissa (10/5): Great location, wonderful host, perfect for our family of four. Nice and quiet too! - Very cool experience staying in the heart of Amsterdam on a boat! Everything was great
- Joanne (10/5): Casper is a welcoming host and gave us some helpful suggestions for eating out. The houseboat was a lovely home away fr - The houseboat is in a great location, was warm and cosy and had everything we needed. Not a problem for us but the stairs might be a bit steep for some people
- Suzanne (10/5): Really fun and comfortable stay in a boat in the centre of Amsterdam - The boat is amazingly located and really cozy and warm, with everything you need
- Elaine (8/5): We were 2 couples and we had a very comfortable stay on a boat and we highly recommend Casper as a host. - Very good location close to central station and an easy walk to plenty of good restaurants and cafes and several day markets. Our host Casper was excellent with communication and responded quickly to any concerns. It was our first time staying on a boat and we were pleasantly surprised that the apartment itself was quite spacious and bright. The other boats behind where we stayed looked derelict. It did not affect our stay other than the tarnished view of the water. Hopefully this can change because being on this boat was otherwise perfect.
- James (8/5): Brilliant location! - Location was excellent and the Appartment was large. The facilities were good and the kitchen was well equipped. A great place for two couples to stay for a 3 to 4 night stay in Amsterdam in a barge. The decor is a little tired and could do with a little spruce up.
- Beverly (10/5): Riverboat Stay in Amsterdam - It is a great location. Just down the road from the train station. Easy walk into central Amsterdam. Surrounded by restaurants and a grocery store is a 10min. walk. All the amenities you need even a dishwasher. Beds very comfortable. Way nicer inside than it looks from the outside. The wall between the kitchen and bedroom didn't go all the way to the ceiling. Any tiny little noise was like you were right there in the kitchen.
- Wayne (9/5): Superb -
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stewart (8/5): Great location! We can recommend this as good accommodation for a family, small group. - Location is outstanding. Moored alongside other houseboats - and one or two rusty trawlers - this characterful houseboat offers both a two bedroom unit and a one-bed studio. It’s situated beside a classy hotel. Just a few minutes walk takes you to Oude Kerk in medieval De Wallen. A further 5 minutes walk brings you to Centraal Station offering access to Amsterdam’s amazing public transport system of trams, ferries, metro, etc.
Casper’s is not the prettiest boat in Amsterdam but we liked it. Sitting and chilling on it’s roof we were entertained by neighbouring cats. Renting a similar space in animal area such as the Jordaan would likely have been too expensive. The interior is simple, fresh and well executed. The beds were fine and the showers are good. The place was very clean. The kitchen has all you need to put together a simple meal. We stayed 4 nights through a weekend in July and found it quiet and peaceful. Quirky property which should be memorable for our children. We would have liked more comfortable seating in the living space, although I can appreciate getting a conventional sofa into a houseboat could be a challenge. There are always a few bits and bobs that need tending to but we had no complaints. Everything went smoothly for us.
- Anonymous (6/5): We had an amazing time in Amsterdam and a mostly comfortable stay. - Casper was a great host very friendly and helpful
It’s in a fantastic location
Beds were very comfortable
Shower was excellent Think it could do with either a sofa or some more comfortable chairs and a TV for relaxing in the evening.
- Karen (9/5): Good for a short stay. - Close to train, restaurants, walking areas.
- Rosalind (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (6/5): GAVE A CLOSE BASE TO CITY CENTER AND WAS OK BUT WOULD CHOOSE ONE WITH SITTING PLATFORM NEXT TIME - THE HOST WAS EXCELLENT AND LIVING ON BOARD IN ANOTHER APARTMENT SO ON HAND IF REQUIRED
STRAWBERIES in the fridge nice touch OUTDOOR SEATING AREA. NO TOILETRIES SUPPLIED. VERY STEEP STAIRS TO ENTER SO MIGHT BE AN ISSUE FOR SOMEONE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS.
NO VIEW OF CANAL FROM BARGE BUT THERE WAS A VIEW OF VERY OLD MOTOR BOAT NEXT TO BEDROOM WINDOW
AND THE OLD BARGE MOARED ALONG SIDE, SOME BARGES CLOSE BY HAD NICE LITTLE SEATING PLATFORMS TO SIT OUT ON SHAME THIS DID NOT. NO BLACKOUT BLINDS ON BARGE ROOF WINDOWs SO VERY BRIGHT ON SUNRISE
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rieko (9/5): Moce experience! - The location is convenient and the owner Casper is very friendly and helpful! The room was spacious as well. I can’t find.
- Joerg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Douglass (10/5): Exceptional - The host Casper was great and was there to welcome us, any problems were soon sorted. The apartment was close to the central station and the shopping areas with good choice of cafes and resturants. We were made welcome and my grandaughter who is 5 had a great time.
- Evans (10/5): Exceptional - Great unique stay and good location close to everything. Casper greeted on arrival was very friendly and also provided a list of places to eat in the area what was a nice thought. We will be back again! Nothing! Just a minor, the chairs in the kitchen/living area were uncomfortable however understand may be difficult to put a sofa into a boat.
- Sivan (10/5): Very nice place to stay when in amsterdam - A lovely place to stay when in amsterdam, two bedrooms each with a shower. Felt like a comfy apartment with enough privacy when traveling with teens. and the location near central station- everything nearby, and a very kind host The entrance to the boat is by stairs almost like a ladder, not for little kids or the elderly, not easy with the suitcases
- Linda (10/5): loved Amsterdam - location very spacious very clean and Casper was a great host with advice on restaurants etc etc a couple more comfortable chairs for the weary sightseers after a long day
- Lee (9/5): Superb - This is a very nice apartment on a converted barge. It's about 10-12 minutes walk from Central Station, so convenient for all sorts of things and the public transport system works really well (You really, really don't want to park at car in Amsterdam.). It's not noisy because it's on the canal below road level. Each room has its own shower and basin. Our host Casper was great. He gave us good restaurant recommendations and local advice. Not a dislike but a notice. This is a boat and access to the apartment is steep.
- Lara (10/5): a great experience - it was close to everything including the train station
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Gavin (10/5): Happy - 2nd time staying in Casper's Apartment, very happy with my stay we had a good time, I love the location it's much quieter than the centrum yet it's so close to so many things, I will book here again.
- Rowan (10/5): Perfect stay - Great apartment, great location and great host. We had a lovely stay with Casper. Will definitely be back N/a
- Betty (5/5): Amsterdam is great, but we wouldn’t stay here again, even with a reduced price. - différent and a good location
warm enough,
can recommend the helpful host, good restaurant advice. uncomfortable, only 1 upholstered chair in the bleak living area. lack of pictures. plus 1 wicker chair, for 4 people. a sofa may not be possible, or inappropriate, but comfortable seating can be built in, like a caravan.
not having a télévision was fine, but bad lighting made it impossible to read a book in the evenings on the uncomfortable chairs.
access to sockets:- a high table , without any high chairs, made access to 2 near ground sockets impossible without shifting furniture or crawling on the floor. On the work surface, the microwave, coffee maker, kettle and toaster shared 1 socket.
- Matt (10/5): would highly recommend for a comfortable and convenient stay in Amsterdam :) - brilliant location 5/10 minute walk from the centre, very clean and spacious, also had kitchen equipment to use if needed we liked everything!
- Jason (8/5): Very pleasant stay in central Amsterdam. - Very comfortable and light. Really good location. Good value. Very welcoming host. Nothing really. A toiletries holder in showers would be useful.
- Anonymous (10/5): Will return - Excellent location.
Clean and well equipped.
Host Casper was welcoming, approachable when needed and friendly.
Great all around Nothing
- Douglas (9/5): Excellent - The Location was excellent and everything was nearby. Casper the host was great and always available. I definitely would recommend this place to stay. It was my first time staying in a boathouse and we loved It!
- Cian (9/5): Superb -
