• Katie (8/5): - Very clean, great location and so much bigger than expected Advertises free toiletries but there aren’t any. The outdoor space really needs comfortable chairs to sit on, there is no bench as in picture. Kitchen seating area is very uncomfortable. Needs cushions

• VIRGINIE (4/5): Déçue du rapport qualité prix avec l’emplacement qui est super … - L’emplacement et l’échange avec l’hôte. Les wc sont impraticable, si vous êtes grand ou imposant,, le bruit avec le partage d’accès sur une autre péniche ( ils vous marchent sur la tête quand vous êtes en train de dormir à 00h 00 , l’odeur de moisie dans la salle de bain , vraiment déçue du rapport qualité prix pour moi l’emplacement ne fait pas tout
• susannah (7/5): The best thing about this property is the location - Location, location, location. It was probably a good price but I had nothing to compare it too. The kitchen had every thing we needed and was very clean. Wonderful bakery and restaurants close by Metro, trams and buses were all within a block making getting to other parts of the city very easy. It was not very comfortable. On the upper deck there was a chair and sofa which were comfortable but the people in the next boat over actually walked through our living room to get to their boat.when told that they needed to go-around they were amenable however , that meant they walked passed our living room frequently. There were no curtains to give a measure of privacy. The wraparound bench in the kitchen could definitely use some padding.

• Alan (10/5): A lovely houseboat, well situated and well appointed. - We were very impressed with the location of the houseboat. It was lovely to sit in the wheelhouse and watch the boats and wildlife on the river. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, and spacious. It’s well situated for a number of bars and cafes. There’s a comfortable dining area inside, with enough equipment to self cater if that’s what you like. We felt that Houseboat Rose provided us with a perfect base to enjoy Amsterdam but also to sit and relax. We would love to come back again in the future We loved it. We are both fit and healthy, so weren’t affected at all, but would like to mention that those people with impaired mobility may struggle negotiating the external steps down onto the house boat, and the small interior steep staircase may prove challenging.

Shared boat with a resident and her toddler son. Thought we had whole boat. Toilet was almost inaccessible for our male guests who are over 6 foot tall and struggled to stand and pee as toilet room so small with low angled ceiling

Perhaps a little bit cold (February), so we had to use the electric heater a lot in the evening and morning.

• sally anne (8/5): I would definitely stay there again for the kindness of the host, the value for money and location. - Quiet location. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Easy to access and host very helpful with information regarding local amenities. The cooking facilities were disappointing. The microwave was small and no oven. A toaster would have been nice too. A bit of padding on the seating of the dining area would have improved comfort when sitting.

Vi blev bedt om at skulle betale for rengøring ud over det vi har betalt i forvejen. Flere af vinduerne kunne ikke åbnes. Absolut ikke tilfreds.

• Manja (9/5): Urlaub auf dem Houseboat in Amsterdam - Der Vermieter hat alle wichtigen Infos vorweg per WhatsApp gesendet. Wir haben das Boot auf Anhieb gefunden. Die Lage war /ist perfekt. In ein paar Minuten erreicht man die Innenstadt zu Fuss. Das Boot liegt sehr ruhig , umgeben von einer sehr schönen Gegend. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Nur der beschriebene Backofen war nicht vorhanden. War aber nicht weiter schlimm. Die Toilette ist winzig , aber gut , es ist halt ein Hausboot. Ansonsten hatten wir zu viert sehr viel Platz. In den Betten haben wir gut geschlafen. Das Einzige ist wirklich die Toilette und dass es kaum Möglichkeiten zum Lüften gibt. Wir haben uns aber damit arrangiert, weil es ein paar sehr schöne Tage waren. Das sind jetzt für uns wirklich Kleinigkeiten gewesen.

Von der Bootsterasse aus hat man einen sehr schönen Blick. Eine Kleinigkeit: Man konnte die Küche schwer lüften, weil die Fenster nicht aufgingen.

• Ian (10/5): - The boat was a lot more spacious than we were expecting and we had a very comfortable stay. Amsterdam was experiencing a heatwave but bedrooms stayed cool enough by leaving the doors to the hallway ajar. Great restaurant on the corner just by the boat.

• Alison (9/5): A charming & well located property with character. - The houseboat was a charming & comfortable property and more spacious than I expected in its living quarters. We found it well located, close to public transport and close enough to the centre to walk down the canal but also, and more importantly for us, far enough away to escape the very crowded central area. Recommend both Bar Lempicka & Bakhuys nearby for breakfast / pastries. Hosts were very helpful giving us plenty of information in advance on the local area & allowing us to leave the luggage for a couple of extra hours on the day we left.. It was very hot onboard but we had been left an ample number of fans. Bedroom could do with some blinds to block the early morning light but we made do and hung up some shirts.

The space was large enough to stand (not all boats are) The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was complete and spacious. The space was very warm, despite the outside temperature being a comfortable 23-25. Two of the 4 fans did not work. The space cooled quickly when the upper doors were open, but it was not appropriate to leave them open once we went to sleep.

If you have mobility issues then steps down to the loving quarters are tricky, and the toilet is compact, being a larger person I had to pee with the door open, but both these factors were clearly explained on website, so I didn't have a problem with it.

• Anonymous (7/5): A great location and wonderful hosts. A few improvements are needed and more information about adjoining boat and neighb - The location was excellent. The communication with the owner was great. The boat was cosy. We weren’t aware that there was a boat moored up next to house boat rose which had a group of men onboard and they had to use our boat to get on and off theirs. This didn’t make it private. We also didn’t know that there was part of the boat which housed a family with a baby. There were a few things that could have made the boat more enjoyable. For example :- better towels, the ones there were small and threadbare. Hooks on the back of the doors would have been useful for wet towels. The shower screen was dirty. A small bin in the toilet is necessary. More hangers in the wardrobe (there was only 5)
• Justine (10/5): Fantastic location - The location was fantastic. The property itself was great. Within walking distance to a number of supermarkets, bars and laundromat. The stairs inside the boat were steep and could do with another handrail. The toilet was very cramped and virtually impossible to manoeuvre to redress without head butting the wall.

Even though check in was at 3pm we were able to drop our bags off before hand which was great, the same applied for check out. Accommodation was very comfortable and ticked all the boxes. N/A

My only comment would be the walk way onto the boat and to get to the front of the boat could do with a hand rail. We had heavy rain and it felt quite slippery. It could also benefit from being better lit. The stairs going in the boat would benefit from a second hand rail on the other side. This is just a little comment because other than that it would have been perfect x

Walking distance to main areas of the centre.Lots of hot water and a good shower. Lovely to sit and watch things go by on the canal. Responsive host. The open stairs down to the lounge needed careful decent, but it is a boat after all.
• Donna (8/5): If you get the chance to book this lovely boat do it you won’t be disappointed - The location of Houseboat Rose was perfect the Metro and tram line were a 2 minute walk there was a lovely bar virtually right outside. Even though the area is busy it was also peaceful. The Lidl was only about a 5 minute walk away. The one thing we couldn’t get used to was the toilet as it’s such a small room and none of us are small but we did find it extremely amusing. There were a few things on the list that were not actually on the boat like a washing machine an oven and we couldn’t find a hairdryer anywhere. Luckily l took mine with me.

• Delphine (9/5): A great houseboat experience! - We loved that it was a boat! The view on the canal and houses was in itself a treat. Beds were really comfortable and the bathroom was huge! The fully equipped kitchen (with a dishwasher) was much appreciated. The whole place was nicely decorated, we had a great time. It was rather damp inside (condensation on portholes), but the heating made up for it. We also felt that the sitting area in the kitchen was not so comfy (blankets on a plank of wood). The low ceilings can make it hard for tall people to move around without banging heads everywhere, and the steep stairs might be a challenge for people with weak knees (our staffie dog managed alright though 😊).

We stayed in Amsterdam for a little over a week and I wanted to feel like we were part of the city (not locked away in a hotel room) and it was the perfect choice. Sitting in the top room watching the world go by was absolutely magical and the rest of the space was clean, warm, comfortable and well-equipped (the shower was incredible!). The hosts provided great information for check-in and were responsive and kind when we had questions. Leaving!

Could not get the TV to work nowhere to sit comfortably for us all but not in the boat for too long so didn't make a difference to us too much.

• Harry (10/5): Superb location and a unique experience - book if you can - If you get a chance to stay here - take it! This beautiful houseboat is ideally located fro exploring Amsterdam, only a couple of metro stops from the Central Station. It was very easy to find, the host gave us all the details in advance including location of the nearest metro station and supermarket. The houseboat itself was lovely - you could look out onto the canals from the 'living room' at the top or sit out on the bow of the ship to watch the world go by. Inside was well furnished with everything we needed for a self-catering adventure. Our two boys were very happy as well. Book it, you won't be disappointed! Nothing - we would love to stay again.

Restaurants, bakeries, shopping, and open air market all close by. Beds were large and comfortable. Only negative was a very small toilet room.

• David (9/5): A fabulous boat with transport links to the centre. - We didn’t really know what to expect when we arrived but we were very impressed. The boat has been refurbished to a high standard and has absolutely everything that you need for a great break in Amsterdam. The host was also fantastic and very helpful. We didn’t know that a tenant was staying in the other half of the boat. There are two doors connecting and our door wasn’t locked in anyway. Some research later we found that they have to have a permanent tenant on the boat. We only saw them outside twice and didn’t hear anything at all from them and so it didn’t bother us.

Bonus was the metro being just down the road. Great communication with Arthur about how to access the boat, local amenities etc! Toilet is a tight squeeze for taller people, but is manageable for being on a boat.

• Davide (10/5): First time on a boat will not be the last !!! - Much better than I expected. Superb stay. I thought on a boat we could have rolled all the night :-) It was not at all like this, you are even calmer than in an hotel room as you do not have noisy neighbours waking you up at 6 am when they leave the room next to yours ! It was all fantastic, super atmosphere, super cool place, nice bar at the corner. Listening to the light rain in the early morning while half sleeping and looking at it on your glass roof when awake was fantastic, very relaxing. Going back for sure naytime I will be for business in Amsterdam again WC room is very little, but who cares ? Remember you are in a boat. And how much time you spend there ? 1 minute in the whole stay maybe ? So nothing to complaint about. All the other parts like bathroom ( shower and washbasin ), rooms and common areas are very spacious by the way, more than any average hotel room.
