Guest Reviews
- Jan (9/5): Location, location, location! - Location was excellent, near to everything in the old town. Loads of restaurants just round the corner. The bathroom was narrow but the shower was really good and plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well equipped . Although you had to go through one bedroom to get to the 2nd one, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space and hangers. Quite a lot of steps to get to the apartment, although that's hard to avoid in Dubrovnik!
- Raman (8/5): - Amazing location. Right in the heart of the old town.
- Tracey (10/5): Wonderful Dubrovnik location - The location of the apartment was brilliant. Very close to all amenities restaurants etc. The host was very accommodating, friendly and helpful even making sure we had fruit and water on our arrival. It was as a very personal touch. It was very noisy at night but this due to other people being inconsiderate not the apartment location etc. there was as nothing here we didn’t like
- Hyunju (10/5): Best place you can stay in Dubrovnik - My family and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the Maru apartment. The location was excellent, and the host, Kate, was incredibly caring and welcoming. She met us in person to hand over the key, gave us a tour of the apartment, and shared an overview of the city. It was clear that she had put a lot of thought into creating a great experience for her guests.
The apartment was well-equipped with everything we needed, all in excellent condition and quality. My daughter especially loved using the rolling drying rack to hang and dry clothes—it became a fun little routine for her.
Our stay coincided with the first day of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and we were lucky enough to enjoy the fireworks right from the apartment. Right up until the last day, Kate remained incredibly helpful and accommodating.
I highly recommend the Maru apartment and would love to return in the future!
- Alex (8/5): Es un lugar muy bien ubicado y seguro, hay una gran preocupación de la anfitriona Kate, -
- Nicole (9/5): A perfect Dubrovnik accommodation - Close proximity to old town!! It is right down the alley way and close to absolutely everything. It was very private and our host Katy was amazing, knowledgeable, kind, and available whenever we needed her. Also the water pressure in the shower was unreal! It did not bother me but if you are sensitive to sound, the alley does echo if you have the windows open.
- Linda (10/5): Authentic Apartment in the old town - The location is excellent with many restaurants and bars within 10m.
The apartment is authentic, and extremely comfortable. There's a fully equipped kitchen and the washing machine came in handy. There isn't anything we disliked. But if you want to stay in the old town you have to be prepared for some noise. The clatter of suitcases up and down the steps outside was a regular alarm call in the morning, so not somewhere you'd stay if you like to sleep in. Not a problem for us but maybe worth noting.

- Maria (9/5): - El departamento es muy acogedor, con todo lo necesario e impecable. Tiene una excelente ubicación. La host es una excelente anfitriona, que cuida todos los detalles y está disponible en todo momento.Pasamos unos dias lindisimos
- Jacob (10/5): - Amazing central location, wonderfully helpful host, extremely clean and well-equipped, arctic air conditioning. The bedrooms aren't on a corridor, you go through one to get to the other. But honestly? It just adds to the quirky charm of the place which is in a beautiful old building.
- Eunji (7/5): Decent location, but wouldn't recommend. - Great location, 1 floor walk up, separate rooms (railroad style bedrooms), washing machine. Host met us at the door. The property is managed digitally by a larger website (before handing off to a handler/host), while they ask when you arrive, there is no one to chat with/ask questions about before your arrival. This was highly frustrating when we were on our way, but had no way to communicate with someone about a parking/drop-off location. Because we didn't have communication, we decided to drop our rental early and was later than we anticipated for our arrival, and the host seemed annoyed. Also, the beds are made with 1 pillow/person and a fitted sheet. That's it. We had to assemble/find any sheets, comforters, and additional pillows in the room ourselves. And while they provided a few additional pillows, there were no additional pillow cases. Overall, the sleep experience was not very good.
- Mandel (9/5): Despite cramped quarters, charming and quaint. - Great location. Clean and comfortable apartment. You have to go through one bedroom to get to second bedroom
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic location, our host was extremely helpful and would recommend to all our friends - Location was brilliant 👏 Nothing to report
- Tomáš (10/5): Great choice - Location is excellent! Air-condition in every room. Like in every apartment in the Old Town, when it's noisy on the street, it's noisy in the apartment. But the apartment is located in a quiet street so you can get your sleep.
- Elaine (8/5): Excellent location and comfortable apartment for a holiday in the old town - Excellent location close to the main Placa Stradun Sponza Palace and clock tower. It is an easy walk from the taxi drop off at Ploca gate. The apartment is very clean with two bedrooms, a small lounge/kitchen and bathroom. One can see the difference between apartments looked after by a lady as it had some nice feminine touches like lots of hangers in the wardrobes and hooks in the bathroom!
Kata met us and took our suitcases up the steps to the first floor and I was really pleased to be given a map upon arrival too. ( The majority of owners do not seem to realise how useful a nice big map is to a tourist who has never visited the location before!) plus some other tourist information which was all very useful. Another nice touch was a bottle of local amaro /liqueur left on the table for us to enjoy. It was a great shame that we had to communicate always with a local agent rather than the owner pre arrival, it complicated matters in many ways.
I asked the local agent for information on leaving baggage on arrival and upon departure. They gave us links to addresses outside of the old town and advised the nearest place was a 20 minute walk away! The owner allowed us to leave bags at 1pm for our arrival which was good, for our departure we luckily found 'Baggage & Smile' which is located right where the taxis drop/pick up point at Ploca and no pre booking is required! Very odd that the local agency was unaware of this excellent solution to leaving baggage on arrival and departure days.
The arrangement was to wait outside of the apartment door at 13:00 hrs and we arrived punctually, but there was no one to meet us – this meant phone calls to the agent ( press button one press button two etc – which drives me nuts!) and then the girl was unaware of the numerous confirmation emails we had received from her agency confirming 13:00 hrs and she said we had to wait till 14:00! Eventually the agent rang the owner and then Kata arrived fifteen minutes later.
It would have been better to have been allowed the phone number of the person meeting us at the apartment directly then we could have whatsapped her from the airport advising that we were on our way.
The payment too, was a problem, we were not allowed to pay half each and so my friend decided to pay full amount and filled in a form with all her credit card details at the apartment – however, they did not use this form at all and debited my credit card left with booking.com – It added confusion and required Kata to bring the form back.
It would have been easier to have liaised directly with the owner, as one normally does with all the other apartments we have on our various holidays.
- Sheila (8/5): The Maru apartment was really good, as was the host. She was very attentive and was always on hand. - N?A N/A
- Beverly (10/5): We absolutely loved this apartment. If I ever return to Dubrovnik I would definitely stay at the Maru Apartment again. - First of all the location just couldn’t get any better. You enter Old Town through the Ploce gate take the first street on the right, walk up one flight of stairs and you are there. This is a bonus considering how many stairs there are in Old Town Dubrovnik. We had a very warm and friendly Wecome by our host, Kate.
There is also a very good restaurant, Rosario, right outside the apartment door. There are many, many restaurants in Old Town Dubrovnik but Rosario is hard to beat. The only drawback about the apartment is the positioning of the bedrooms as they are adjoining and if you are in the second bedroom you have to walk through the first bedroom to get to the bathroom and the rest of the apartment. This is not a huge problem just a slight inconvenience for privacy.
- David (9/5): Great apartment in old town. - Kate was there to meet us and help carry the luggage up to the apartment. Centrally located in old town. Kate was fantastic and she and her husband helped get the luggage to the taxi when we departed. Highly recommend.
- Suzie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosa (10/5): It was the perfect choice! - Apartment very clean and great location
- Hariprasad (8/5): Very good - Location. Very friendly and accommodating host. Not much. It's old town and you need to be ready to climb few stairs. Just be mindful.
- Lorna (9/5): Delightful well maintained apartment in the heart of the old city. - It was exactly as described. Great location and had everything you could possibly want. The hostess was generous in providing toiletries, fruit, wine, milk and a gift of lavender. You had to walk through one bedroom to get to another but I knew that as it was stated in the description.
- Kobie (10/5): Excellent location - The excellent location Nothing- it was great
- Pamela (10/5): - Immaculate, good location, comfortable. A bit of a snafu getting to apartment from airport but very helpful housekeeper present upon arrival.
- Elaine (10/5): Helpful staff location in the heart of the old town with load’s restaurants and shops nearly - Katie the host was extremely helpful and welcoming.
Clean comfortable very well equipped apartment with everything you could possibly need for your stay . Nothing all good 👍
- Vanessa (10/5): when you wanted the best location without too much stairs in old town, this is the best place, Kate is very accommodatin - the location, very convenient to all inside the old town in Dubrovnik none
- Christine (8/5): A great property manager, a great location and we would highly recommend Maru Apartments! - We loved the unexpected treats and gifts from the property manager. Kate was incredibly helpful with everything, including organising our fantastic transport to the airport at the end of our stay at Maru Apartments.
The location was exceptionally close to everything we wanted to see and living within the City Walls in Dubrovnik was an exciting new experience. We loved it! The rooms were a little noisy (from the apartment above, other tenants coming up the stairs and the customers at the restaurant outside the bedroom windows) but settled down early enough to get a good night's sleep. We accepted it as just part of living in close confinement, within the City Walls.
Walking through one bedroom to another was unusual and not something that we were used to. I was not aware the second bedroom was only accessible through the first, when I booked the apartment.
- Matthew (7/5): Apartment would suit family - The location of the apartment was great - in the old town. There were a few steps up our accommodation in the lane way, however not as many as some other laneways.
The apartment was fully stocked with all kitchen amenities. The second bedroom is extremely small (would be suitable for children, however too small for 4 adults). The apartment was extremely noisy at nighttime with people partying in the lane way.
The living area was compact for 4 adults. This apartment would be better suited to 2 adults and 2 small children.
Too many steps for my elderly parents.
- Joyanne (8/5): We stayed during the heatwave. This apartment was our saviour ! Great air conditioning ! - The location was exceptional. Close to many attractions. Minimal stairs to get to the property. Washing machine and iron/ironing board. Everything provided by the host that we could possibly need including fresh lemonade upon arrival. Contacting the property was difficult prior to arrival. The property appears to be managed by a booking company and I was trying to arrange to drop off our bags prior to check in due to having to be out of our other hotel. They did not respond to any of my emails. Noise of guest in the apartment above as well as street noise was annoying but not to the point that I would not recommend the property.
- Walton (9/5): We loved every minute of our stay and we’re sad to leave. - It was clean, well stocked and had everything we needed to feel at home. The beds were really comfortable and the air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked very well.
The property was well located in the heart of the beautiful old town. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
- Simon (8/5): Great location, easy walk to all the attractions in and around Old Town Dubrovnik - The location is great, cars can't drive into the Old Town so if you're arriving by Uber or similar enter at Ploce Gate, Buza Gate may look closer on the map but there will be 200+ stairs to negotiate. We were very grateful our driver gave us this tip. The apartment is small but with everything around you in the bustling Old Town you won't spend much time in it. Minor issues : the bathroom is very tight, a corridor really but it's clean and functional. The steps up to the apartment are quite steep. There's a bit of noise from the street at night and also if people are moving in the apartment above.
- Patricia (10/5): Outstanding hosts and location - Kate and her husband were amazing hosts. They offered some some home made treats on arrival, gave us great tips for places to eat and things to do.
They went over and above to make us feel relaxed and happy and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
Location was outstanding, facilities were great. We would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of coming to Dubronvnik.
Thank you.
- Savannah (9/5): Superb - great location, very clean and well taken care of. Kate was an amazing host who greeted us with care and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. felt very homey and relaxed one of the bedrooms was connected to the main walkway so when people came and went it was quite loud and would wake our children
- Nimesh (9/5): Superb -
- Lea (9/5): Superb -
- Swati (10/5): fabulous little but spacious apartment next to Stradun, highly recommend - great location right next to Stradun, only few stairs to the property which is unlike in Dubrovnik, close to Ploche and Buza Gate, lovely host, property was spotless and had everything we needed for our 3 nights stay, would highly recommend nothing to not like :-)
- Rahul (10/5): Exceptional - We really appreciated our stay at the Maru apartments and in particular our interactions wth the host - Katja. Katja was the most amazing host we could have expected - from the self made welcome drink of a nice cool lemonade on a hot summer afternoon to the home made arancini and red wine liqeuor - everything was amazing.
Finally, on the day of check-out, Katja was most generous in helping us with a late check-out and we could rest our little ones which would otherwise have been an incredibly difficult time with the hot summer.
All in all highly recommended!
