Guest Reviews
- Ana (9/5): Superb - Micheal was a friendly and responsive host. Available and helpful with advice. The pace was perfectly located for access to Darby Street cafes and shops and there is a lovely walk through the adjacent park, over a road and through a little bush cut-through to the pathway looking down onto Bar Beach.
- Bella (10/5): Exceptional - Great cosy getaway
- Heather (10/5): Convenient 'Home from Home' - We loved everything about this Unit, all the little extras especially the hair dryer! As I forgot mine! Enough toilet roll, tissues, toiletries in the bathroom.
The kitchen was kitted out with everything you could want.
Informative notes about the area and maps.
TV was good. Access to free streaming services, YouTube, iView, 7plus etc. You can sign into your own paid streaming services too, Netflix etc.
Shower pressure was good with plenty of hot water.
Michael and Kate are wonderful Hosts but are certainly not intrusive in any way.
We travelled to Newcastle on the train from Nowra (South Coast NSW).
For anyone else arriving by train, I'll give you a tip. The train ends at Newcastle Interchange you then get on the Light Rail train just outside the station. Get off at CIVIC. Begin your 15min walk moderately uphill from there. Use Google Maps.(Don't get off at Crown St.as the route via Brown Street is extremely steep!)
Everywhere was very walkable from the Unit if you're moderately fit. Light Rail running across the North side was useful for a little rest. We had a lovely time in Newcastle and enjoyed coming back to our 'Home from Home' every evening.
- Kevin (1/5): Falsely advertised - Nothing we didn't stay and want our money back The view was of housing flats not the ocean.
it was smelly mouldy water damaged.
Not private it's below the owners who have rules like your at your parents.
It was untidy and very uncomfortable.
The pool that was advertised was a hot swim spa that was slimy and smelly. We lasted 10 minutes
- Olesia (7/5): Good -
- Fiona (8/5): Great 1 bedroom , great location. - Great space, 1 bedroom with ensuite and lounge/kitchen area. Nice outdoor spot to sit with nice view over the adjacent park. Access to the pool/spa was nice on a hot afternoon ! Close to beaches and restaurants. Parking is on the street, so a bit hit and miss with parking close to the house.
- Roslyn (6/5): Pleasant - Amazing location and great communication from hosts. large deck and outdoor setting, park next door. close to the beach and shops.
well equipped kitchen, clean bathroom Mould inside. there is persistent musty smell and mould on the blinds, inside cupboards.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - The unit is really well loaded and has lots of facilities. Our hosts were very helpful and very accommodating. Great place to stay in Newcastle! Nothing, it was all good.
- Marian (8/5): Very good - Quiet area but close to parkland, cafe area, beaches. Helpful and friendly hosts
- Rachel (9/5): Hidden Hilly Delight. - Location was fabulous and easy to get to, hosts were super accommodating, bed was comfy, good creature comforts and lovely pool. No fan in bathroom.
- Kirsty (9/5): Superb - Lovely clean place with all the amenities plus a huge spa/pool!, Wonderful location! Lots of homely touches that didn't need to be included, and had a beautiful visitor from the house above(beautiful shy pet/family member! where the owners abide, but if you like a bit of privacy can absolute achieve with the lovely and respectful owners, we were smack bang in between a wedding ceremony and the reception which was super handy :)
- Laura (10/5): Lovely 2 days in a clean accommodation. - The property was very clean. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The view from the heated pool is lovely. Great location for exploring Newcastle. Nothing.
- Anthony (10/5): Good communication with the owners. The property had everything you could need for your stay. - Very good location, quiet and peaceful. Very convenient for my pétanque competition in the park.
- Mohamed (1/5): Disgusting and if I could get a refund, I would I’ve been staying with bookings for a long time now and I get an apartme - No not at all . The property didn’t have laundry. The owners were rude and disrespectful. They entered the house without permission and to give them privacy. They weren’t there, and we were trying to burn the house down because the stove was on. The owners came in the middle of the night for some reason they asked we pay them extra money to allow us to stay at their property even though we paid in full online
- Janelle (9/5): Delightful, home away from home. - The unit had everything you need for an easy comfortable stay. Loved the well-stocked kitchen, books and games. Super comfy bed and lounge. The location was an easy walk to the beach, and the unit was on a quiet suburban street. Host Michael was very accommodating to our changing needs, nothing too troublesome for him. Parking on the street was a bit inconvenient, but not a big issue.
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dianne (10/5): Very good. Thank you - Beautiful hosts. The location is ideal close to beach and the city. Backs onto a walk that is beautiful. They have a friendly well mannered dog too so i felt safe. Can not say I didnt like anything. I will stay again and recommend.
- Thomas (5/5): Passable - bed was comfortable
nice quite location
hosts were very nice not having on site parking
the bathroom had silicon heaped in areas that had previously been leaking, just looked a little tacky
not having an exhaust fan over cooktop
- Afonso (9/5): Good value for the money, and very good location - The unit was very clean, and next to New Castle Memory Walk. Going to the beach, restaurants and bars is a breeze as both are only 10 minutes away by walking. The bed is a bit loud.
- Maddison (10/5): Amazing stay! - Everything was perfect
- Liam (10/5): A lovely apartment in a perfect spot. - The location could hardly be better... between Darby Street and the beaches.
- Elouisa (10/5): Relaxing, quiet and Kate and Michael were perfect hosts. - Fabulous location, clean and functional space. Gorgeous spa. Nothing
- Lynette (8/5): Very good - Very friendly hosts.
- Jody (10/5): Comfortable, convenient and welcoming 😊 - Great location, could walk to beaches, shops and restaurants. Comfortable bed and the unit had everything I needed.
The spa was great to relax in and the hosts and their pooch Luna were really friendly, I would stay here again. There was nothing I disliked about my stay.
- Sean (5/5): Passable - Location The noisy dog.
- Trent (4/5): Disappointing. Would not recommend staying here. - Location was ok for access to local shops and cafes. We booked for a 7 night stay and left after less than 24 hours. Peeling/cracked paint in bathroom. Cup in bathroom was filthy. Very few power points - none in bathroom meaning that electric toothbrush had to be plugged in in the kitchen. One large window lacked window covering causing potential privacy issue. Owner’s dog frequently barked and jumped which we heard in the unit. Paint bubbling on wall just above baseboards which usually means moisture issues. Wardrobe had only one hanger. Floor was sticky - not dirty but likely because of finish on hardwood. Yes, beach was walkable but was up and over a very large hill.
- Jodie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charmaine (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable beds. Good shower. Close to everything
A great place to stay.
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Angela (10/5): Long weekend State titles - Perfect location for us to get to the netball courts for state titles. Quiet location with all the facilities we required. The parking on the street was a little tricky with our luggage.
- Susan (5/5): Close to Darby street , cafes, comfortable but overpriced for the age of the unit and the noise of u - Location was good, but unit was a bit aged, considering the price Noisy upstairs,(owners and dog) could sleep okay but owners live above the unit. In evening can hear owners walking about, dog running and what sounds like a robotic vacuum cleaner.!
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): Would gladly stay again, thank you so much 😊 - Great communication from landlord, beautifully thought out set up with attention to details and making it “home away from home”. There is on street parking but being a well occupied street we had to park away a bit further to get a spot.
- Antony (8/5): Very good -
- Phillip (8/5): Very good -
- Fay (8/5): Very good -
- Gillian (9/5): Superb - great location
- Feisal (8/5): Very good -
- Mcguire (7/5): Good -
- Josephine (8/5): Relaxing - Location was great and unit was nicely furnished. That parking was hard to come by. Also the owners had dogs, which was not mentioned in the description. They were a bit noisy roaming around above us at night. Also some people do not like dogs.
- Zhenlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (7/5): Good -
- Cameron (7/5): lovely owners, great spot - walking distance to Darby Street. love having dogs around. - location. spa, outdoor deck no aircon in bedroom, street parking sometimes limited, sounds from occupants above could be issue for light sleepers.
- Saikiran (8/5): Very good -
- Puheriu (8/5): Very good -
- W. (8/5): Very good -
- Link (10/5): Amazing solo retreat - I had the best stay here! After an unexpected flight cancellation I was pretty bummed but upon arriving at this place I was so happy. It really turned my trip around! The location is amazing. Really enjoyed the outdoor couch lounging area, spa, and the proximity to the beach and restaurants. The place is super spacious, I wish I could have stayed longer! Plugs for charging electronics are lacking but I managed 🙂
- Jeff (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (7/5): good location, noisy dogs during the day - easy to walk to beaches and restaurants
nice owners The listing should advise there are dogs upstairs that bark a lot during the day, which did spoil the tranquility.
I like dogs, but these ones made a lot of noise.
- We only found out about the dogs once we got there.
There are not enough power points to plug chargers etc in.
In fact, if you want to charge your phone in the bedroom, you have to unplug one of the bed lamps which is annoying and difficult.
Shower seemed to leak when used which was not great
- Jagteshwar (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (10/5): We didn’t want to leave! - Beautiful view, lovely pool, great vibe, great hosts, great posi! Gorgeous dogs too!
We love, love, loved it! The main bed is really low which is tricky for those of us with a disability and there weren’t many power points do suggest taking a power board.
- Gisella (7/5): Good -
- Roy (10/5): Great spot, tidy and clean unit, amazing welcoming hosts cant fault anything - Host meet me. Very nice amazing host Nothing
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable -
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gowri (7/5): had a good stay, could have been better - location is convenient , it has one bed room
, tv with Netflix connection, heater facility etc weee good hot water wasn’t working . wifi was not provided
- Yvette (7/5): Great place to base yourself for access to Darby Street restaurants in Newcastle - Easy walk to restaurants and cafes Built for little people. Everything was low to the ground and a little bit pokey. Fine for a weekend however.
- Bryan (9/5): quiet and peaceful location - great location close to cafes and restaurants nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): great location, friendly and accomodating owner, highly recommended - clean and comfortable
helpful and accommodating owner parking was tricky but everything else was fantastic
