- ALAIN (10/5): Un endroit reposant et magnifique - Llena, l'hôtesse est très accueillante et fait tout pour rendre le séjour agreable. L'hôtel est facilement accessible en bus. L'endroit est environné d'une belle nature et la chambre et sa terrasse tout en bois est très agréable. La cuisine attenante est très appréciable. Le village de Montezuma est accessible à pied. On peut ajouter que cette partie du Costa Rica est une bonne synthèse du pays : plages très belles, peu fréquentées et une nature environnante magnifique. Le parc voisin est bizarrement quasi désert.

- Cassandra (4/5): We didn’t experience any of these issues in our other stays in Costa Rica. Will not be staying here again next time we’r - It was right across from the best restaurant in the area, Sabor De Mar. The pool was small but really nice to cool off in at the end of your day. The 1st unit we stayed in: the beds were basically box springs. You could just touch the bed with your hand with no pressure and feel the springs, we were constantly being stabbed by them all night. The owner tried to tell us they were orthopaedic mattress as well, which is a lie or they’re EXTREMELY old. That was the most uncomfortable sleep of our entire time in Costa Rica. They should try sleeping on that mattress and see how unacceptable that is. Considering that’s literally what we’re paying for. The white plastic shower curtain had a lot of mould on it and was VERY noticeable. We had to ask them to change the shower curtain…why wouldn’t they have checked that beforehand? Leaves me to believe they don’t clean the bathrooms or area properly. The hot water barely worked, you either sacrificed water pressure for slightly warm water, or had a cold shower. Other shower heads like this one worked fine in other places in the country. AC remotes were not working properly and it got stuck at 17 degrees and they told us not to have it at that and to put it to 20-21 and got irritated about the AC usage when that’s what it was set to when we turned it on and and it wouldn’t change. After these issues they moved us to a different unit and you could really tell they cheaped out on the previous unit as the 2nd one was better. You could tell the owner was not happy about us bringing up these issues as she was not very nice to us when we were telling her the issues and when she moved us units the next day. In the second unit they have the doors heavy just so you can’t use the AC in the small living area. We had to use a chair to hold it open just to move things in and out of the room when we first got in and wasn’t trying to use the AC in the whole place as they assumed. The owner also entered our unit without telling us when we didn’t need anything, which made us uncomfortable. She even agreed she usually tells guests and or asks beforehand, but didn’t with us.

Spacious room that even has a kitchen attached, a balcony surrounded by greenery, what more is there to wish for? Very nice host, who also run the restaurant across the street, which is probably also one of your best options in Montezuma. Nothing at all.

Small pool was refreshing. Attractive grounds. Steep, long walk, take a taxi back from town. TV placement caused me to hit my head repeatedly. Hotel does not take credit cards, but the restaurant does.
- Katrin (9/5): Superb - We stayed in the upper floor with the large windows with view over Montezums. This was the best feature of the suite, it gives free airflow through the suit and is great t spend time watching nightfall. We also we liked the two daybeds and the huge life edge tabke that dominates the kitchen/living area. The kitchen is basic but has everything that is needed, however there are no condiments such as salt, pepper or oil. There are two pools on the property, both are little, just 1.5 by 3 meters. The one pool in a nice nature setting, the pool nearest to our room next to the parking lot. Its been clean with no critters.

- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional - I had a roomy and comfortable Casita in a location that made me feel like I was in the middle of the jungle. A couple of times Howler monkeys swung thru the trees and there were always birds outside my windows. Ileana and Gerardo a great hosts and their restaurant across the road is one of the best in Montezuma. The walk to town and the beach is a bit far given the heat and the hill you need to climb but there are buses and I had a car.

- Raymond (10/5): Exceptional - The location is close enough to Montezuma for easy access yet far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. It’s a 15-20 minute downhill walk into town, and then a 400 colones bus ride or 3000 colones taxi ride back up the hill. Good sun in the morning, plenty of shade in the afternoon. The gardens are beautiful, the pool warm. The new restaurant looks very good, although we did not have the opportunity to try it. The shower was nice, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked great, the kitchen was adequately equipped. WiFi was mostly good, cell service was great. No negatives, just a heads up for others. In our downstairs unit we could hear a lot of walking and furniture moving when the larger upstairs unit was occupied… and if you book the large unit, just be mindful of neighbors below. And the A/C is in the bedroom only, not for the entire unit. There are no cooking staples (oil, seasonings) so be sure to bring your own.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - A peaceful slice of paradise! My bungalow was pivate, airy, leafy, and I could watch birds drinking from coconuts right at my window! Very clean, and run by nice people who have an excellent new restaurant across the street, which is better than any restaurant we tried in town. Yes, as all reviews say, it's up a steep hill, but you can take a taxi for 3,000 or just walk it as part of your daily exercise routine. I did, and it's a ~150m elevation gain which will help you get ready for adventurous hikes!

- Božo (9/5): Great stay in Montezuma! - Really nice stay! The owner was really friendly and helpful, giving me lots of information about what to see and how to get there, and even calling to check some things for me. The garden is absolutely fantastic, with lots of palms and other trees, very peaceful, and has a pool as well. The bungalow was really cool, and had a hammock outside, a kitchen area, a bedroom, and a bathroom. It was great for a three-day stay! They even accepted the card payment (although the signal was bad, they were really patient and tried many times). I was coming from Monteverde via ferry Puntarenas - Pequera and then a bus from Pequera and that bus stopped in front of the accommodation when I asked them to stop at Hotel Colores, which is one minute walking from Flor de Paraiso Bungalows. The accommodation is on top of the hill. Going down to the town takes 20 minutes and it's quite fine. Going back is much harder plus there are no lights in certain parts of the road. It wasn't a big deal - there was a taxi available from town for 3.000 CRC (which was around 5.7 USD at the time) so if you don't mind taking a taxi back, the location is great, because it will take you five minutes to get back!

- Hannah (9/5): Gardens, pool, hammock - paradise! We loved it - The cabins and grounds were beautiful, it felt like a little oasis paradise. We loved the pool and had our own balcony with a hammock. Our room was the cheapest (Trogon I think) but had everything we needed; fully equipped separate kitchen, big comfortable bed, hot shower, big ceiling fan. The location was very safe. Be aware there is a very steep hill between the hotel and the town. When you first arrive with your luggage, get a taxi from the bus bay by the beach. Without our bags, we walked up and down every day and it was no problem if you take it slow and do it when it is light (it gets dark early in Costa Rica). The bathroom smelled a little in the evenings.

- Margaret (7/5): Lovely little pool, but the property is on steep road outside the town - I loved the little pool. We had it to ourselves which was great. Also the gardens were pretty. Staff were helpful, ordering a taxi when we were leaving. The hammock on the little terrace was a nice touch. While the property is not all that far from Montezuma, it is on a steep, winding and fairly busy road up from the town. It is walkable down and takes about 20 minutes, but a taxi is needed back up and it is definitely not a road I would want to walk on after dark.. Also the lock on our room was broken so it could not be locked or even fully closed.

- Carl (3/5): Despite the potentially beautiful environment, I had an uncomfortable and disturbing experience. - The garden is beautiful and the pool is nice. Impossible to enjoy them with the sound of hammering, sawing, etc. all day long, though. The kitchen is well equipped. My room was not great. It was the smaller apartment with a separate kitchen. There is no air circulation, so it is stuffy and smelled bad. The sheets also did not smell fresh. The ceiling fan is badly fitted and makes a lot of noise that is impossible to sleep with. Because it is not hung properly, it makes a loud thumping and scraping sound. I found myself trying to sleep without the fans, but then was bitten a lot by all the bugs. A no win situation. The bed is pretty uncomfortable, and the pillows were basically just 2 thin pieces of foam stuffed into pillow cases. There are a lot of bugs. I appreciate that that is part of being in nature, but the room is not well protected from letting them in. And again, the fans! There were also cockroaches living in there. There was work going on on one of the buildings throughout my stay that was a constant disturbance. I didn't find the hosts friendly and helpfully like others have said. They were mostly busy or unavailable. There's for sale signs on the entrance, so maybe they've stopped caring about reviews. I don't know, but experience was far different from what other reviewers have reported. I felt uncomfortable from the point of check-in. I was clearly exhausted and being unaware that there was no ATM in Montezuma, I didn't have cash to pay my room bill there and then. Rather than just letting me put bags in the room and sorting it out after, we instead spent 20 or 30 mins trying to get a connection for the card reader. I felt untrusted and like she wanted to make sure to get the money before I saw the room and before the noisy construction work started the following morning. The location wouldn't have been such a problem if it wasn't for all the disturbance as I'd intended to spend most of my time relaxing in the garden by the pool. Unfortunately, without a vehicle, it was problematic having to do the couple of km steep climb up and down the hill, in and out of Montezuma.

- Tracy (10/5): tranquil, peaceful, restful place to stay 🦋 - the garden is remarkable, the bungalows are fully equipped with everything you need. there isn’t anything we didn’t like. I have read many comments stating that the location at the top of the hill was a negative, but it shows that this is the case when looking at the listing. the fact there is a long hill between the accommodations and the town is a bonus.

- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional - I really loved this place! It was absolutely beautiful surrounded by nature. It felt like home away. We enjoyed cooking and chilling there. The pool area was lovely! The host was very friendly and kind giving us two extra pillows. Parking is literally in front of the building, there were comments about the parking being far, is just not. Yes, there is a big ramp to get in and out the building but I didn’t see this as an issue as other people mentioned here. If you don’t have a car It will be complicated is not close to the beach and Center. Overall I highly recommend this place if you want to connect to the nature, have some peace and quiet and a place that feels like home. The lights were a bit low, maybe some lamps by the bed side can be good for extra lighting.

- Heinemann (9/5): Superb - Beautiful bungalows! Very clean! The owners are very nice people! The pool is cute and the property is lush and green. I did love my little bungalow a lot! It was a little difficult to get to and from Playa Montezuma. There weren't taxis going past so you had to call someone to come get you. It was a very steep 15 min walk to Playa Montezuma which I did a couple of times but isn't easy with a suitcase. They don't accept cards for payment and there are no ATM's in Montezuma. The owner did help me figure out how to get cash.

- Melanie (9/5): quiet, chilled bungalows up the hill - very nice hosts with good english skills, I loved the hammock on the patio and I liked that the kitchen was in a separate room in the jungle - so you see a lot of animals, nice pool we didn‘t like the pillows (Not very comfy) and the location wasn‘t very ideal. the bungalows are located up the hill and you have to walk on the street down/up. It‘s a Bit dangerous behause there is no boardwalk and it is steep. there are also no restaurants around, so you have to go into town for everything. but it is not expensive to take a taxi up the hill (around 3000 colones)
