Guest Reviews
- Marie (9/5): Great location if you have a car, nice spacious alternative to hotels in Port Douglas - Location was great, walking distance to beach, restaurants and bar. Bed was nice and comfy. Pool could have been warmer. Concrete bench with cushions looked nice but wasn’t very comfortable.
- Skye (9/5): Absolutely beautiful and a very unique place to stay! - Very beautiful apartment to stay in, very unique and open. Loved the decorations and the heated pool. Very kind hearted people who own it, they make you feel very welcomed, especially with the coffee and tea provided.
10/10, would definitely stay here again. Nothing in particular was bad about the place.
- Shallan (6/5): -
- Megan (8/5): We had a really great stay. The restaurants and all the facilities are easily reached by the shuttle - The room was great. Fantastic value and the location was a bonus - park at back door and the beach 100m away. No black out curtains let in light from both neighbouring properties. The sanitiser used to clean the bins had a very strong smell and I needed to move the bins outside.
- lubana (6/5): -
- Noela (9/5): We enjoyed our stay very relaxing & calming - It was very different, close to the beach, the pub & the beach Shack everything was in walking distance. The plunge was cold but I could have asked it to be turned up.
- Kiani (7/5): - Self contained and nice location, exceptionaly close to the beach Needs a good clean and re-vamp. Out door area leaks everywhere when it rains, hot tub outdated paint falling off.
- Genavie (8/5): - The heated pool, the cleaniness of the property. Comfy bed, felt like i was in bali The couch was uncomfortable. Couldnt really relax and watch netflix. A few bugs got in.
- Adam (6/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Amazing! Close to beach and comfy bed - How close it was to the beach! That everything was cement
- Luca (10/5): -
- Tony Egan (7/5): A comfortable unit overall for a short stay. - Plunge pool and location best aspects of this unit. Plug in sink did not fit so washing dishes a challenge. Lighting poor. A few globes out. A limited range of crockery.
Limited parking so not a guarantee.
- Nicole (10/5): Everything you could want and more. - Location is a little out of town but there is an easy shuttle service and you have a bottle shop/bar/restaurant close. Access to the beach is on your doorstep. The facilities were amazing - heated pool and BBQ also provide oil/towels/shampoo etc. Will definitely come back, highly recommend
- Joanne (10/5): This was just beautiful, hardly wanted to leave it to sight see! - This was just beautiful, hardly wanted to leave it to sight see! NA
- Adriano (9/5): - The decor and layout. Location was great for us too.
- Alison (10/5): Perfect & relaxing. Highly recommend & will be back to stay again! - Host was very accommodating, allowing us to check in early & have a guest over. Property was lovely, very homely and clean with everything we needed. The location was also amazing!
- Rod (7/5): -
- Ellysha (10/5): -
- Judith (6/5): A pleasant beach stay - The location was quiet and close to the end of 4 mile beach We told the host about the leaking coffee machine & the broken towel rails in the bathroom.
The unit is full of concrete structures which double as furniture - not intrusive, just not warm and cosy.
- cheryl (9/5): Quiet and nice apartment near beach - Perfect location
5 min walk to 4 mile beach
Quiet location
Plunge pool and out door area lovely
Plenty of indoor and outdoor space
Nice to have supplies on hand, thank-you.
Comfy queen bed The single bed was uncomfortable for an adult but probably ok for a kid.
- JHAMAN (10/5): -
- Jasmine (10/5): - Location was ideal When people were seated outside in the adjacent unit you could hear every word
- Julie (9/5): Nice relaxing place to stay - Close to beach for lovely walks. Well equipped kitchen. It’s a reasonable way out of the main part of Pt Douglas so need a car or shuttle to get there.
Even though the plunge pool was heated ( realise it wasn’t a hot tub) it was quite cool. Would have liked it a bit warmer but it was ok once you got in.
- Gianna (7/5): Good - My earnings were left behind went back next day ..Gone presume stolen by cleaner..Asked cleaner she said didn't see them...$200 earnings disappeared 🙃
- Jade (10/5): Relaxing weekend away! - Clean, comfortable bed, relaxing heated plunge pool, perfect location near beach and tavern!
- Weir (7/5): Good -
- Family (7/5): Good -
- Johann (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (7/5): Lovely apartment at the quieter end of Port Douglas - Beachside 3 is a really beautiful little studio apartment. It has lovely decor and everything you need to be very comfortable during your stay. The outdoor garden area has a day bed and small bbq, as well as the plunge pool which makes its a great place to relax when at the apartment. Just a one minute walk brings you out onto four mile beach, which is very beautiful and remote. We had our bicycles with us so we could either cycle the road or on the beach to Port Douglas town, which took about 15 minutes cycle. Very clear email instructions from the owners about arrival and key codes etc - all very easy. It was very quiet and peaceful location, although when the people in the next door apartments are home you do hear every word spoken or whispered, and you do smoke thier cigarettes with them (I laughed at other reviews that said this ... but now I understand!) There was nothing about the apartment and facilities not to like; they really have made every effort to make sure your stay is comfortable and you have everything you need. There is a tavern for drinks (no food) very close, and a restaurant (Beach Shack) and fish n chip shop but unfortunately they were closed (off season) which was a shame for us (but not the aprtments fault!) A taxi into town cost us $27 one way, so also worth using the shuttle buses if you need transport (we didnt know about the shuttle until we got into town)
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (10/5): Amazing place to stay short walk to beach and very quiet and peaceful - This is the 2nd time in 2024 that we have stayed at this property and will be back more in 2025 :)
The location is amazing and hosts Phil communicates very well making it an ideal get away to one of the most beautiful place in Australia
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brett (7/5): Good -
- Brumby (2/5): Very poor -
- Ben (1/5): Bad - Pool. No privacy in bedrooms, freezer was leaking, no spare bin bags, shower doesn't drain properly. No fan on the patio, like a greenhouse out there.
- Peter (7/5): Have had better but much much more had worse. - We supplied The shower. Instead of a conventional drain plug, it simply had pipe below a batch of small tiles without grout with water intended to seep through, Inadequate as shower overflowed on to floor.
- Vinay (7/5): Would stay again if these issues were fixed. - Nice well appointed property. Pool was advertised as "heated", yet it was just room temperature. Coffee machine wasn't working.
- Cassar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (7/5): Good -
- Marise (6/5): uncomfortable, concrete everything , - location although it was freshly painted the fumes where very bad ( not good if you have asthma ) apparently you need to ask management of property if they have just painted .
the place is all concrete the couch is concrete with a thin cushion , the bed base is concrete with a mattress on top ,
table very weird always had to remember to place a placemat down as your glass would tumble over
outside area with pool no sun light can get in
it’s all covered. yes private but a bit of sunlight would be nice
you feel like your locked in..
no extra towels etc if you stay more than 2 days we stayed for 5 so it would have been nice for some fresh towels
- Connor (10/5): Will definitely be booking again! - Right next to the beach with a quiet and comfortable apartment
- Vivien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (7/5): Good - The location was good . Liked the pool but it was not heated. This unit needs some serious maitinance. Taps were loose , light in room with single bed flickering , light over barbecue not working .The barbecue was dirty. None of the plugs in both sinks worked don't know how they expect you to do the dishes when you can't fill the sink . We didn't use the coffee maker as there is some sort of insect in it .The table I could not cope with it was very wobbly. It is a shame because the place would be great if some basic maitinance was done.
- Skye (8/5): Very good -
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful quiet little place to relax and short walk to the beach Nothing been here a few times now

- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Darlene (9/5): Superb -
- Kathy (8/5): enjoyed our stay it was clean and comfortable but need to eat out for a cooked meal - lovely clean and comfortable unit in a great location bbq didn’t work well, plate was terrible
minimal kitchen equipment to cook with
- Felicity (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Helen (8/5): Gods response to queries and very clean - Decor Toilet flusher
- Mikki (6/5): The facilities were adequate, and the Facilities Manager most helpful when she came. - On arrival, I tried many times to contact Booking.com and all we could get was a stupid telephone message. Are there not any humans at the end of your telephone line? NOT EVERYONE HAS EMAIL, ETC ON THEIR MOBILE PHONES. An email with valuable information re Unit Number and who to contact was sent on Sunday. We had left on Sunday morning to visit family on our way to Port Douglas on Monday, so we did not receive it until we returned home. Thank goodness the Facilities Manager came on Tuesday to tell us we would have no power. We had an issue with the toilet not flushing and it was still unresolved when we left.
- Gwenda (7/5): Good - Location. Good for the money.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Ellis (8/5): Very good - Location and facilities were really good. Kids loved the pool.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- David (4/5): I did enjoy everything else but the above listed - Location was great. Hosts entered my private court without prior permission whilst I was getting undressed and seen me in my underwear, heated plunge pool was not heated and I was unable to use it at all for the duration of my stay.some furnishings need to be attached properly, screws missing etc.
- Tanya (8/5): Very good - Spacious and comfortable
- Simon (9/5): Wonderful getaway - The place was beautiful! Loved everything about it
So close to beach and tavern. Will definitely be returning 😊
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Jarrod (7/5): Good -
- Shelina (7/5): Perfect location to enjoy a walk on the beach - Location Lounge chairs uncomfortable and too close to tv
- Amanda (8/5): I’d live here! - I can see myself living my best life in this place! I’d get up early in this minimalist, beach style unit, walk a minute away to the beach at sunrise and then walk all the way down the beach to have my morning coffee in the heart of Port Douglas. The unit has everything you need and the bed was comfortable. I was curious about the review regarding the lack of privacy, and yet, when I saw it for myself, it was completely fine! Also the plunge pool was a lovely temperature which we really enjoyed. My favourite place to drop-and-flop however, was the large outdoor lounge. It was so comfortable. I was super impressed with how everything was made from concrete and yet maintained its coziness and comfort. The fans and air conditioning ensured the place was nice and cool and the kitchen was well equipped. Another bonus was that an awesome kids park is located basically outside the back door. It’s a great place to stay. Thank you. Not to like? It was great. Thank you.
- Ludwina (10/5): Had such an amazing apartment will be staying there again when i come back to visit - The interior of the appartments was amazing. Felt like i was in greece. Was 2 mins away from the beach and it was peaceful environment.
- Irina (8/5): Very good -
- Beverly (9/5): Great value, ideal amenities and proximity to beach - This is a gem that I will return to - great location, easy access and such hospitable hosts who were super accommodating. The beach proximity and the amenities in this little self contained villa are ideal for a couple!
- Kerrie (7/5): Good -
- Flint (1/5): If you want some thing comfortable don’t stay here. - leaving it it was a concert jungle, uncomfortable concert couch with cushion that looked and felt like they had never been washed.
The supposed heated plunge pool was to cold to enjoy and the unavailability of sun didn’t help. The yard is completely covered so don’t expect to sun bake in the yard. The advert states free cancellation , yes to cancel is free but there is no refund. This happened 6 days before our booking date.
- Robert (8/5): Surprise in Port - Location to Beach was great, and away from the town, so nice and quiet. The couch was very uncomfortable, and we could hear the people in the next unit quite clearly.
- Leanne (10/5): fantastic quiet location great place to stay - great apartment style villa with space
perfect for two
location fantastic - a couple of kma away from main st port Douglas
quiet location and about 100 mts to the beach
comfy bed great air con
the owner Phil is lovely too
would recommend to friends and family
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Not far from beach. This is our second time All good
- Lucinda (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (7/5): Good - The pool and how cool it was. We had maintenance going on from 7am till 4pm next door apartment's. Also your cooking utensils could work better if they were non stick pan's.
- Jason (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rosalyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gayle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ina (10/5): Exceptional - Best accommodation I've ever stayed at. Beautiful, quiet, best location, and affordable. Beach and tavern right at the front door. Will be definitely staying there again
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (8/5): Lovely place with beautiful garden to relax in. - The plunge pool, bright decor and garden Lack of bathroom door! Open plan is nice but it would have benefited from at least a screen for privacy when using the bathroom.
The kitchen was in need of some updating.
- Peter (9/5): Would come back again to this place in a heartbeat! - the accommodation was even better than the photos! very spacious and tastefully decorated. Just one suggestion ... maybe place some milk in the fridge to go with the coffee pods?
- Madeline (8/5): Very good -
- Linas (5/5): Passable -
- Nayef (5/5): Passable -
- Holly (8/5): Very good - the location, styling of the room, access both sides and the fake grass helps keep sand out of the property. cups and cutlery dirty
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annieez (10/5): Exceptional - Plunge pool was lovely on hot days
Ability to self cater Nothing
- Tara (6/5): Great location, fantastic having a small, private pool, comfy mattress, needs updating, maintenance. - The location is fantastic - so close to the beach, and the plunge pool was great to have. The apartment felt roomy and open and the mattress was very comfortable. We appreciated the ceiling fans, air conditioning, having a washing machine, and covered outdoor area. There was no compendium or welcome booklet with information, which would have been helpful regarding questions such as where to place recyclables, local eateries etc. There was also no mention of whether there was a parking space or not. The makeshift kitchen was adequate but minimal and there were no glasses, only plastic wine cups. The kitchen tap was clunky and difficult to adjust. The apartment was clean except for the freezer which was very dirty. We would have preferred a door on the bathroom, some division between the bedroom & lounge area such as a blockout curtain and flyscreens behind the louvers. The shower screen leaked and the bathroom floor got flooded. The lounge was very uncomfortable, being made of concrete, and the dining chairs - both indoor and outdoor - were also really dated, uncomfortable and impractical. The apartment, especially the outdoor area, was noisy due to the very close proximity to neighbours. Unfortunately we endured smoking fumes from smokers next door, which was very unpleasant especially with a small child, and had to close all windows and doors. We weren’t aware that the plunge pool was meant to be heated so weren’t expecting it to be, but it certainly wasn’t, it was quite cold. There was residual bleach in the washing machine and some of our clothes got bleach stains on them. A great spot but in need of updating and maintenance.
- Moira (3/5): Very noisy. would suite young people who want to party all night. - I was very disappointed with this property. I booked for 7 days and only stayed 3 nights. I managed to find alternative accommodation. The property is one big open plan room, consisting of a lounge room, dining, room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. No doors. No curtains. Because there are no curtains, you are not able to darken the room for sleep. The lights from units 2 and 4 beam into your area, making it impossible to get to sleep. One evening the guests did not turn off their lights until midnight. You are also woken early in the morning by the sunlight. The unit is across the road from a pub and when I finally did get to sleep, I was woken by all the noisy patrons leaving the pub, who then moved into the park (next door) to continue their rowdiness. The unit is also beside another block of units and on the 3rd night of my stay, they played extremely loud music all night and partied. The only contact I had with the manager was to ask how to log into the Netflix and Prime video on the television. The short email response I received , did not provide me with any useful information. I did enjoy the private plunge pool as it was very hot weather. There were other residents smoking on their porch area and it wafted into my space. I am a non smoker and I found this intolerable. I was not able to use the washing machine. The machine was outside and it was dirty and mildew inside the machine. When you first arrive, this property looks lovely but the reality is, it doesn't work. The lounge consists of a brick base with cushions on top and this is not comfortable at all.
