- karen (9/5): Quirky characterful house surrounded by forest and hills - The house is quirky with lots of character. It is a mix of architectural styles with different motifs scattered around. There's a spacious 2nd level with a comfortable sofa and big windows for looking out at the hills + forest in the day, and for star-gazing at night. It is great as a retreat or if one wanted peace + quiet and the feeling of being somewhat off-grid. It's an old house with character but the furniture and furnishings feel somewhat dated. The layout is also unusual in that the living and dining room are on the upper level while the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are on the ground floor. Not an issue for us as we only stayed 1 night but it would be an exercise to shuttle up and down the stairs with food and dishes. Also be aware that it is some distance from the main road to the house through the forest so come with food provisions as there are no shops near by and there are no lights along the road at night.

- Sourav (7/5): - The Location The cleanliness in pure
- Bronwyn (8/5): Two enjoyable quiet nights - Location was beautiful. In the middle of no where. very quiet. No TV which should of been provided.
- Holly (10/5): A beautiful hideaway! Would highly recommend. - The property is a little slice of magic! If you are looking for something remote and a little different, we couldn’t recommend Happy Nest enough! Kim had the fire on ready for us on our arrival and was a lovely host. Really really recommend!! Nothing!
- Lamb (10/5): - We liked the fact it was out of the way the views were amazing took your breath away.
Kim the owner was great to deal with and very helpful on arrival. Their was nothing not to like
- Valerie (10/5): Lovely but too short - Very comfortable All ok
- Amber (8/5): Amazing views, great location, comfortable - Stunning views. Unique building/architecture. Quiet and peaceful. Great communication and welcome from host Kim. Excellent Wifi. Good location to explore nearby attractions. No TV. Not a deal breaker particularly given the remote vibe of the property. But it is advertised as having a TV. Might be too rustic for some.
- Marcella (10/5): -
- robert (7/5): - better linen
- Leanne (8/5): It is a Happy Nest. Would stay again. - The location of this rustic charm is lovely and quiet making for a good nights sleep away from traffic.
This cleverly built home has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. The double bed size. If it was a queen size it would be perfect 👌🏻
I was sad I saw no wallabies at night 😀 although the sensor light was going off and on after dark.
- Cathy (10/5): Merveilleux !
- Susan (10/5): -
- James (5/5): 50/50 - Location and tranquil Needs a deep cleansing service webs and dust everywhere, needs flyscreens, and a fan. Ran out of water so no toilet or shower on last day. ( off grid)

- Paul (9/5): - Great location with access to hiking trails
- Judith (9/5): A very good stay and an amazing location - Location and views were amazing
Unit was spacious and well equipped
Comfortable bed
Open fire a highlight A few cobwebs inside the unit
- carolyn (10/5): Great place to stay to get away from it all, quite rustic but that is part of its charm - Quiet rural location, lots of wildlife to see Nothing
- Jack Lewis (8/5): It was very cosy when we arrived in the cold weather. We enjoyed the wood heater and exceptional mountain views. - Views Wood fire was too close to the bed, which made it too hot to sleep there. However there was an alternative single bed upstairs. As soon as the sun was shining it was too hot inside.
- Alison (10/5): - What a delightful place. Such interesting architecture and beautiful outlook to Quamby Bluff and the mountains. The fire made it very cosy on a cold wet day. Even though you feel like you're miles from nowhere it's not far from Deloraine, Liffey Falls, Mole Creek caves so there's plenty to explore. Loved our stay at Kim's place.
- Chris (10/5): Utterly charming. - Location, views, solitude, peace.
Walk through rainforest.
- Jaimee (9/5): Gorgeous piece of paradise - A gorgeous spot, away from the hustle and bustle of the town and traffic. Off the grid and so peaceful.
- Kellie (9/5): Gorgeous little cabin stay in the wilderness. - Gorgeous little cabin stay in the wilderness. Kim was very hospitable and even had the fireplace going for us most evenings when we got home. Both upstairs and downstairs had floor to ceiling glass through which you can admire the serene atmosphere of this property. The tap water (natural spring water) was so crisp and clean - lovely to drink! The room could definitely do with a bigger bed as it was a quite small (double sized?).
- Christine (7/5): -
- cindy (8/5): - The position was perfect and the wood fire was a treat. The oven wouldn't work and the kitchen utensils were greasy when touched had to wash them before use.
- Cheryl (8/5): Amazing lovely environment. Srltaff happy to assist and help out.Lighting fire extra hindering when - Environment Larger Beds
- Janiece (9/5): Unique - Organic unique accommodation. Everything you need for a night or two away from home. Very comfortable and the fire was very welcoming. Nothing I didn't like.
- Cosgrove (10/5): -
- Tania (10/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Lorne (10/5): Short but sweat - beautiful buildings and location.
The host was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were fantastic. Also very ecofriendly.
Would definitely stay here again lots to explore. N/A
- Merran (6/5): We enjoyed our stay but thought the heating options need improving and a more generous supply of accessories would add t - The location was unique and the surrounding views were stunning.
The accommodation was also unique and rustic. The only heating was a wood fire that took a while to get going and which needs upgrading (burnt out interior baffle plate). Some of the decor and finishing touches were basic.
- Jennifer (8/5): Warm winter stay in amongst nature. - Delightful cosy cottage style accommodation. Glorious views and so quiet and dark at night. Plenty of walks near by and close enough to Deloraine for coffee.
Weather was cold and sub zero at night, we were very warm with the open fire. Our host Kim is friendly, very approachable and looked after us well. Thank you Kim. Nothing to not like.
- Siti (9/5): Stargazing wonders - The clear view of the stars at night Very cold flooring
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Robin (7/5): Good - Plenty.of space..beautiful.log fire welcomed us on arrival..prompt replies to sent messages.. ..lack.of signage on the approach roads
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Unique, maximum relaxation - Such a relaxing and beautiful location. Close to Deloraine but it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. Shower is a bit hot or cold but not a dealbreaker.
- Helen (9/5): In touch with nature , relax - Beautiful rustic accomodation . Great architecture , with lots of windows to view the Stunning views . Nice it belly stove for the cool nights.Full kitchen, need bring supplies. Special place to visit. Even had an echidna strolling by
- Greg (3/5): Very disappointed especially at the price. A hot shower, or even a warm one, would have been nice. - General location was nice and quiet. A shower with a mixer that worked would have been good. This was either scorching hot or freezing cold with no in between, Advertised TV was non existent. Had to wash the glasses before we could use them. Building was quirky which was good but the construction was questionable with large air gaps around the joinery where daylight could be seen through. 'Rustic' is good but this was more 'shoddy'. I doubt it was built with any building code in mind. Be draughty and cold in winter. Heating is by an old woodburner which was efficient enough but took time to heat up. Also meant getting up during the night to stoke it.I doubt this building was built with any building code in mind. View of the mountains was great but pity it was marred by having to view it over the exposed concrete septic tank just below the balcony and the rough ground that we presumed must have been the garden view. The whole area is more like a building site with plenty of 'work in progress'. Had it been more reasonably priced then I would have rated it slightly higher as it does have potential with some of the above fixed up. Especially the shower!. The owner was off-site so couldn't help sort out any of these issues, although he did send somebody around but they arrived after 9pm when we were going to bed. I don't like giving bad feedback and I did try to contact him to discuss these things before placing feedback but he never did saying he would rather I do it here.
- Erwin (10/5): Exceptional - All is perfect.
- Cameron (10/5): Peace and natural beauty -
- David (10/5): Fabulous place in very scenic location convenient to Deloraine. - Stunning accomodation in spectacular location. Water pressure in shower very weak & hard to adjust temperature
- Tegan (10/5): Exceptional - This place is amazing. The most relaxing and enjoyable stay. The giant windows, the hammock, the little outdoor area were perfect for a cosy night in. This place is beautiful and so much like a fairytale. I watched the sun set and the sun rise.
- Luckana (10/5): We really love it, peace & tranquility and lovely atmosphere with mountain views - Host & hostess excellent company Few cobwebs around
- John (9/5): Wonderful, would have no qualms about recommending this stay to all and sundry - Stunning location and only matched by the rustic and quirky architecture of the property. The Happy Nest was a very cosy and charming woodland property.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - I enjoyed the hospitality and friendliness, Lillea took time to suggest places to visit. Just what one requires when on holiday.
- Enzo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maddison (10/5): A delightful time in nature with all the comforts of home - The electric architecture and big windows that allowed nature to spill into all the spaces
- Dix (9/5): Loved it,full of character - A bit out of the way on grades gravel rd..very quirky with unusual architecture...loved the internal hammock looking to Quamby bluff and wood burner right next to bed so toasty warm Few Cobwebs around

- Vanessa (8/5): Charming - I liked the rustic charm of this place. It was cosy with lots of quirky aspects to admire. Our host was very kind and approachable. The parking was difficult and the signage could be better. Once you know where you are going it is ok.
- Anna (9/5): Amazing cozy house - It was a great stay! The house is amazing, very atmospheric, cozy, and comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful It can be cold, so if you come in winter as we did, just be prepared to bring more of warm clothes

- Ron (8/5): Great place to stay in the iconic Meander Valley. - Eclectic design. Amazing location. Needs a good spring clean - cobwebs everywhere.
- Rod (7/5): Quirky and grew to love the place over time - Eased into a relaxing time at Happy Nest - sure quirky, but certainly grows on you over time a few more key kitchen items (like baking trays, veg peeler, large tumber glasses) would be helpful
- Camille (10/5): A step into peace, nature and comfort - Beautiful architecture. The most tranquil location. Chooks to greet us and a delightful host! Nothing
- Jingsi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ricky (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (7/5): Unique, quirky shack in the bush - This was a quirky unique accommodation. Kind of felt like Robinson Crusoe built it. The place felt very secluded and private. The large glass windows made nature feel very close. The beds were comfortable and the main rooms spacious. The bathroom was very small and difficult to move in. It also needed better cover on the glass door and more hooks for hanging clothes and towels. The large glass windows while lovely were dirty with cobwebs and a few had cracks.
- Vicki (8/5): A superb place to escape to for a quiet break - The view and quietness are unrivalled
- Vicki (7/5): Good - Very nice caretaker Issues with pests
- Francesco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerri (8/5): Stunning scenery! - The location was beautiful! My room was cozy and spacious. Travelling solo I always ensure doors lock, however I couldn’t seem to lock the door to my room so ended up putting a chair under the door to feel safe. Not a true fault to the overall stay though!
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Original one of a kind place. Friendly host. Definitely worth a stay. Small bed for 6'2" individual. No all night heating unless you can keep the fire going through the night. Next time will bring my own heater.
- Cassandra (8/5): Beautiful space with fantastic views - Beautiful space with fantastic view of the mountains.
Cozy fireplace next to the bed kept the space very warm
- Carlone (6/5): Pleasant - The kitchen the fire and the music instruments. The toilet shower etc present someone hairs not from the head.
- Olliver (10/5): Stunningly scenic and blissfully peaceful paradise - We absolutely loved our stay here. The views to the mountains and creek line were breathtaking. The architecture was unique and beautiful, the bed comfortable, hosts very welcoming and the Thai dinner was perfection. Thank you I’d love to stay here again. Nothing.
- Sara (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charlena (10/5): Would happily move in and live out the rest of my days - This was such a unique and beautiful property surrounded by nature. The vibe was so relaxing and comforting. Kim and Ginny were amazing and made us feel like we were at home.
- Ken (8/5): really enjoyed our stay. Very cosy and comfortable. Loved our meal at the Butterfly Cafe. - We were met by our host and shown through the property. All good
- Allison (8/5): Unique, off grid experience. - I loved the food and the hot sping water fed Onsen
- Sayam (9/5): Excellent place for a weekend getaway in nature! - An amazing place in the wilderness, run by a lovely couple. Excellent food and view forest views! Managed to see many local wildlife including several of the Tasmanian endemic birds. Here are the birds seen during one of the nature walks: https://ebird.org/australia/checklist/S132027235
- Yen (10/5): A superb stay!!! - Where do I start? The hosts, Kim and Chinny were the most down-to-earth, friendly, honest, wonderful people. They were very hospitable right from the start. Upon learning that Kim used to be a musician, my musician partner's eyes lit up and they both ended up jamming together during dinner at Butterfly Cafe. Chinny cooked the best Thai food, we polished everything off. The location was remote and hilly, it's a steep drive up the hill to the property. I loved how it's off-grid, Kim built the houses himself. The house that we stayed in looked like it popped out of Enid Blyton's books. He's currently building a new house called the Eyeful Tower. I loved the views, the off-grid living, the smart ways to be self-sufficient, the milky way above us, the mineral spring water, I didn't have headaches at all during my stay there. Oh, and the bathroom was clean which is a must for me. Will definitely be back again. Nothing, everything was excellent. If there's one thing, and this is just my personal preference really, I prefer a firm mattress for my back, and the mattress there was a tad soft for my liking, but I still slept through the night.
- Jarrod (10/5): Fantastic host great location -
- Inna (7/5): Good - Lovely rooms, animals on the property, serene setting To keep the roomwarm at night you need to keep wood fire stove going, which means waking up every 1.5 hours to admire wood. I was setting up alarms to keep the fire going. For 2 nights. Big bed downstairs didn't have electric blanket ( which would have eliminated the need to burn wood fire all night long!). Single bed upstairs had electric blanket.
- Nick (10/5): exceptional; you’d benefit from staying her. - great and quirky house.
kim is a great host nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philippa (9/5): Somerhing different - Unique- something different. Great setting in a forest

- Dontravellito (10/5): Great loc wth amazing views and friendly hosts - Great Interaction - Authentic Thai food exp avail - The location and the views on the mountains were terrific.
The hammock was my favorite item and strategically placed. Friendly host providing an authentic home made Thai/asian food option for an extra through their "Cafe" setup.
Love how they have built and included as much self sufficient items in their overall everyday setup . N/A
- Juliet (9/5): Happy Nest is well named - we loved it! -
