- Burke (10/5): A very pleasant experience - Exceptional food and very friendly and helpful staff a fabulous weekend
- Chloe (8/5): Wonderful overnight stay in the country - wish we could have stayed longer - Amazing remote location, beautiful surroundings, great food Beds and pillows were not the most comfortable
- Tremain (8/5): Loved it -
- Ryan (10/5): - Loved the peace and quiet of the farm ,great location .
- Antje (10/5): -
- Alisa (8/5): Lovely peaceful spot to relax and immerse yourself in nature. - Beautiful, peaceful bush setting and friendly staff.
Great coffee and delicious fresh food. WiFi wasn't working in our cottage, but we could use the free WiFi at the cafe.
Some menu items not available.
- Isabelle (8/5): Beautiful accommodation, I just wish it included more. - I loved how accommodating staff were to my dietary requirements and always checking in how everything was going Everything was exceptional, my only complaint is I wish the the weekend stay either included breakfast or even a pottery class session. The pottery on-site was absolutely out of this world beautiful, but the prices were very expensive.
- StuartG. (10/5): Fantastic rural stay - Great communication beforehand and fully understood how remote we would be and how to get there. The drive in along 10km of unsealed road was atmospheric and emblematic of the outback location. Upon arrival quickly shown to our schoolhouse location. The building is outstanding and filled with numerous little touches. Lots of homemade pottery fittings and plates and mugs. The views are great and you have all you need for a comfortable stay. Bbq'd in the outside cooking area under the building and there was everything you needed for that. Nice, deep swimming pool a few metres away which had a sail cover to keep the scorching sun off. Bedroom for the Schoolhouse was spectacular and the bed really comfortable. This was a fantastic stay, I can't recommend this place highly enough Nothing to dislike here
- Marie (9/5): - We, as a family, totally loved our stay at Pilliga.
We stayed in The Studio as a family of 7 and there was so much space for us all, the table tennis table was enjoyed by us all.! It had everything we needed in all aspects. The BBQ was well used for many of our meals, altho we did eat at the cafe one evening and that was delicious.
The pool was perfect for the many hot days we had and we loved listening and watching the birds and native wildlife.
Overall it was an amazingly relaxing time spent.

- Rebecca (8/5): Great place to stay with the family, will come again. - The Old Schoolhouse was such a funky and fun place to stay. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Everyone was really friendly. It had such a gorgeous community vibe from both guests and staff. Our kids LOVED being able to feed the animals. The plan/layout provided in the welcome book and the signage around the property made it a little confusing where you were/weren't meant to be.
It was hard to tell who was staff and who were guests. A second fan in the schoolhouse was definitely needed for hot nights.
- Niki (10/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptionally welcoming to me and my dog. - Exceptional food. All meals quite remarkable. Everything great.
- Amanda (9/5): Great return visit. will come back again. - great family friendly place to stay. facilities on point. Staff great and flexible. We should've stayed for longer.
- Joanne (10/5): A delightfully creative, happy and natural environment to enjoy. - I like the welcome, the Australian bush at it’s best, the classic buildings, the cafe and food and the glorious pottery and happy potters. I could have easily stayed longer but I was on a road trip. My pooch loved to smell the great outdoors and all the wildlife.
The cool air con in the rooms was a welcome blessing. Sometimes sharing facilities can have issues. Travellers always need to be aware of others in the smallest of matters.

- John (9/5): Just a few kms off the highway is an Oasis in the bush. - The walks, the pottery & the quirky ambience of an artists' retreat in the bush. Hot water ran out very quickly.

- luke (10/5): - Booked for my elderly mum and her friend to stay in the Farmhouse Nest. Accessible and comfortable rooms and beautiful location. The whole place is hand-made and is an absolute bush oasis. Food at the cafe on site is fantastic, Kimi the chef is an absolute wonder. The road in has been recently renewed and is a lovely smooth trip in. Not having more time to stay longer!
- O'Brien (10/5): We enjoyed our rustic farm stay. Beautiful pottery. Has a Mexican feel - Lovely break in our journey at this unique Farmstay. Great place for kids. Staff very friendly. Delicious dinner. Quiet and very clean room. Nothing not to like. It is simple and relaxed accommodation which suits us.
Internet is slow if you can’t live without it,it might be a problem
- Joy (8/5): -
- Indra (9/5): A - The Poets Cottage was such a wonderful space with its use of wood, mudbrick. Lots of comfy places to sit indoors and outdoors, and such a peaceful place to stay. Loved the kitchen full of original pottery pieces for our use. A off grid place so some may find that aspect challenging.
- Eleanor (10/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): -
- melinda (9/5): -
- Suzanne (10/5): -
- Anna (8/5): - Everything was great.
Except no internet coverage. I couldn't ring my family at home. Very bad internet connection. We were there for 3 nights. I couldn't use my phone to ring my family.
- Liz (8/5): - It was in a great setting. It was lovely to have so much space to ourselves.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Yingfan (10/5): Perfect experience - Beautiful place to stay, highly recommended! My family love the experience very much! But poor road conditions for 2WD cars, will drive 4WD to there next time!
- Mette (8/5): Lovely - Quirky. Good food. Great walks Would be good to have all the build working in Farmhouse Nest - drawers and doors jammed - Charming build but just a little annoying.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brown (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful clean
Lovely staff
- Regina (1/5): Unforgettable. Worst stay ever. - We arrived late, booked dinner at the Blue Wren Restaurant, staff were friendly. The restaurant was warm when we entered, the building was rustic and charming looking with pottery decorations everywhere. The wood fired pizza we ordered was stone cold, alternatively we ordered chicken schnitzel and vegetables, it was a very small meal for the price, poor presentation, plain, dry, no sauce. The accommodation was nothing like we expected. We thought we were getting a two room cottage, however it’s a barn house with 4 rooms, each room has 3 to four beds in it, so no privacy to dress, only one shower and one toilet to share among 15 or more other guests, it was midnight before the bathroom was free and I finally had my shower. Some people are so inconsiderate they take over an hour to have a shower or use a toilet, they leave a wet mess everywhere and doors slamming every 5 minutes. There’s no tea, coffee, sugar or milk for a complimentary beverage and the cups are filthy.
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Everybody was extremely friendly and helpful. What an amazing experience and wonderful well signed bush walks. Pottery was so fun and staff was very informative. Thankyou very much. Everything was awesome only one small thing bed was a little hard but overall very satisfied with our stay.
- Shannon (10/5): The most remarkable getaway! We will be back. - The atmosphere and serenity were amazing. We couldn’t fault it.
The fact we could bring our dog was the best part about our holiday as he has never been able to come away with us. We loved everything about it.
- Mervyn (8/5): Rural retreat with lots of extras - Beautiful rural setting with unique hand built buildings. Pottery shop, cafe and accommodation. We had an upstairs spacious room with access to a shared bathroom and a mini fully equipped kitchen on a big veranda (but not a stove). Tables and chairs along the veranda overlooking the countryside. Very nice. The bed was very soft. Nice for many but not a great sleep for me.
- Annette (9/5): Superb - Beautiful haven off the beaten track. Is a tribute to founders of creating such a beautiful place. Magical and restful. 10km corrugated dirt road in but without wouldn't have isolated beauty of this stay
- Jessica (10/5): Incredible find you do not want to miss out on. - LOVED EVERYTHING!!!! This property exceeded our expectations immensely. A beautiful, quiet country setting with an abundance of wildlife. An easy walk along bush tracks was spectacular, from goats, kangaroo, emu and plenty of bird life it was spectacular for our kids to explore with us. The pizzas are absolutely beautiful, the staff so friendly and willing to help and the pottery, oh my goodness, soo breathtaking. We cannot wait to come back, hopefully next time for a longer stay.
- Sharlene (9/5): We booked the studio thinking it would be small. It wasn’t, but still very comfortable. We were happy to accommodate the - The property was a surprise. Quiet and peaceful location. Fireplace loaded and ready to go. One of the best accomodation beds I’ve ever slept on. Pet friendly and easy access for taking our little dog outside to do her business
- Zhan (9/5): Fantastic if you travel with pet - Superb location
- Steven (9/5): Superb -
- Rezwana (10/5): Peaceful, Artistic, and Full of Heart - A truly unique and peaceful escape—perfect for anyone needing a creative recharge. We like everything
- Barbara (6/5): it was good the staff are very friendly just a few annoying things that are mentioned above, thanks - The area, the pottery the bed, no phone reception, cupboards and light switches not functional
- Robert (9/5): A quiet haven in the bush - Great food at the cafe (check it will be open) and quiet bush setting. Nice bush walks immediately next door. The site is at the end of a 10km dirt road. After recent rain, this was in poor condition so we had to go very slowly to avoid potholes and deep ruts.
- Jaroslav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olivia (3/5): The property advertising was misleading. I would not have picked this property for my family to stay at if I knew all of - Staff were friendly No hot water for showers
Bedding was stained
Rugs were stained
Mattress very uncomfortable
Pizza oven was broken and no kids food available on the menu. Very limited other food options. Due to isolation of the property unable to get any other food.
Shared bathroom
No service anywhere on property
- S (8/5): Very good -
- Ellen (8/5): Plan and stay longer if you can - Arrived late in the evening.
Left early in the morning.
Cafe hadn't opened yet but place looked great.
Wished I could have stayed longer to enjoy.
- Heidi (10/5): Reminds me of the oasis where I grew up in the middle of central Queensland. - It’s magical.
- Tiarne (10/5): Great friendly place. Unique - Really unique place to stay. Lovely staff. Plus we were able to bring a cat along for a stop over moving from VIC to QLD. Only regret not staying for a couple of nights rather than 1. Slept super well and almost slept past check out haha
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Harsh (1/5): Not suitable for Motorcyclists - Good communication at the time of booking till check-in. The room was spacious and clean. Overall good experience except there is no overnight air conditioning. Not suitable for motorcycle riders for sure. Perfect for families with kids and 4WD who don't require air conditioning. I stayed at the property recently while on a motorcycle trip. It was a particularly hot day, around 37°C, and I checked in around 6 PM. At reception, I was informed that the air conditioning had been turned on in advance for us. However, upon entering the room (Room 1), it was clear the air conditioning wasn’t working. After raising this with reception, they moved me to Room 4 following a discussion with the owner, but unfortunately, the same issue persisted.
I was then informed that the air conditioning only works during the day as it’s connected to solar panels and doesn’t function after sunset. This was extremely disappointing, especially after a long day’s ride, knowing I had another long ride ahead the next day. The room remained uncomfortably hot, and I couldn’t get any proper rest until after midnight when the weather finally cooled down on its own.
The lack of sleep affected me the next day—I woke up feeling groggy with a headache and left around 9 AM, much later than planned. This had a significant impact on my trip, as I was tired and not fully refreshed for the ride ahead.
I wanted to provide this feedback as it would have been helpful to know about the air conditioning limitations in advance. It’s something that significantly affected my experience, and I hope it’s something you can address for future guests.
- Obedoza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tundra (6/5): Pleasant - Pool , Gardens, very nice pottery A long way from the highway
No air conditioning after the sun goes down Solar powered very hot in the rooms
just like Backpackers hostel
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - beautiful location among wildlife and friendly staff greeted us at the cafe the bed was nice and soft but it sagged a little bit which meant my partner and I sank into the middle of the bed.
- Kathy (7/5): Good -
- Tanya (9/5): Great location, wonderful family value. - Beautiful atmosphere and hospitality A little bit hot in the room - but largely because of high summer conditions!
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Farm stays that are functional and comfortable are a perfect family holiday, kids hiking swimming and relaxing with very limited wifi connectivity is our perfect holiday, pottery classes at Pilliga pottery were amazing the kids listened and made cups that will be sent to us when they are dried, cafe onsite was certainly a bonus The road in was rough but as a 4wd I had read my reviews so was expecting it
- Rebecca (8/5): lovely farm - out of the way but that is part of its charm. - that it was pet friendly and comfortable
- Caitlin (7/5): Good -
- Aneesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): Special experience. A delight to meet the family & Kimmi. LOVE & admire what they have created. - I chose this accommodation for my sister, my elderly mother & myself because I thought it sounded a little different, interesting & clean! I was right!!! The surrounds are lovely, Kimmi is a very special person & the creativity & commitment to living as well as possible is inspiring. Charming & clean accommodation which is very much appreciated. Only one small piece of advice which does not affect my rating at all. More hooks /hanging or shelving in the bathroom for clothes changing & towels. Otherwise wonderful accommodation.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharlene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francesca (10/5): Perfect hidden gem 💎 - This place is a hidden treasure!! We wanted a relaxing weekend getaway in the bush and it ticked all the boxes. It’s peaceful, tranquil and has an all round homely and relaxing feel! Perfect for families, our 3 year old didn’t want to leave! The staff are all so helpful and friendly and the food at the cafe is great too. We also did a pottery class so we can have a keepsake from our stay :) we will definitely visit again and cannot rate our stay enough. Such a wonderful family run business, thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us!
- Cheryl (7/5): Good -
- Tayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (8/5): A wonderful break away to recharge! - The isolation made our stay very special. Shared facilities (bathroom & kitchenette) were well appointed.
The central heating made quite a difference on a very wet evening. Bathroom Would be a bit tight if more guests were in.
(Shared means working in with strangers to use.)
Otherwise a really enjoyable break away.
- Kerry (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jason (7/5): Lovely venue - The food was amazing The kids in the next room very noisy at night
- Jordan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (7/5): We liked the nearby walks and the birds. - Location for bird watching was good.
- Malinda (9/5): Superb - We loved our stay here, we were made to feel welcome & our place to stay was comfortable with a nice country outlook. The restaurant is cosy and the woodfire pizza and wine were delicious.
We took the opportunity to do a glazing class which was fun. Coffee was yum at cafe and we could take our dogs to the accommodation!. All in all, a special time away for my husbands birthday, we will be back to explore the walking tracks & the gelato 😀.
Thank-you ! The draw in the kitchen wouldn't close properly, shower was awesome but I was conscious about water and actually would be good to know what hot and cold so can conserve water as neat bathroom.
- Luke (8/5): Very good - Fantastic welcoming people.
Quiet and peaceful Accessing the bathroom meant going outside, (along a covered deck). It meant I felt all four of the degrees' C.
Slippers are recommended, had I but known.
- Burt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Narrandera (8/5): Pleasant accommodation, good company, great bushwalks - Shared bathroom and non locking doors. Lots of steps
- Mark (9/5): I will be back - Beautiful location with plenty of activities that I enjoy doing and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nothing
- Ellen (10/5): This was a really different, whimsical place to discover! - This was a really cool property with delightful staff, really cool The road leading in was a pretty bumpy, but I got through with my Toyota Corolla fine by driving slowly.
- Liz (8/5): Staying here was like having a long warm hug after being feed with wholesome food and the best coffe - Breakfast was delicious and the coffee Kim made was amongst the best I’ve ever had ! There was nothing I didn’t like! But I don’t think your current publicly describes fully what you have on offer. The walks, the food and the space that allows people to stop and absorb the stillness is unique.
- Clare (6/5): Disappointing. It caters to a niche holiday-maker without flexibility. - It is a beautiful farm stay and pottery. The buildings are quaint and pretty. The bushwalks are very good. The ceramics are stunning. There was not a key for the door. The room could be locked from the inside only. The latest dinner booking available was 6.30pm, I was told 7pm for dinner was too late. The shared fridge did not have a freezer. I made an enquiry about access to a freezer for my travel ice bricks, this enquiry was not answered BUT a subsequent enquiry was. The ceramics are very expensive, coffee mugs starting at $68.
- Penny (8/5): A great rustic place with fabulous walking trails. - Fantastic walking tracks in the bush through the property - could walk for days. Lovely staff. Very rustic setting - a bit cold during the cold snap thought!
- Tara (10/5): A beautiful farm stay with extra charm! - It’s character and charm.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doughty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rakesh (6/5): Pleasant - Nice collection of pottery. . Maria was really kind and accommodating. We stayed in Farm Nest..kitchen was well equipped with cooking utensils.Bathroom was renovated and clean. The farm nest unit we stayed had blanket worms . It may be because it rained , but the doors were not fully sealed and the blanket worms came inside the unit using the gap. We couldn't leave our shoes near the door..It would have been ideal if we would have stayed one night. As there is very limited activities to do in the farm.
- Maureen (7/5): Good -
- Lillian (8/5): We were so glad we came. What a find. - Breakfast was delicious Nothing
