- Gemma (10/5): The perfect stay! Would recommend to anyone! - Perfect stay! Getting to meet the cows guided by Tod was an absolute highlight! Couldn’t have been better
- John (10/5): Fabulous location and a touch of farm life too! - Loved everything about this place from the friendly dog Dozer to the cows and chickens 🐓 fantastic
- Cheow Leng (10/5): - When we arrived in the evening, Rod and Kim had the heater on and that was a really nice gesture after a long travel. The cottage is clean and comfortable with some cooking utensils perfect for a quiet dinner and simple breakfast.
Rod gave us a tour around his farm and we met Snowy, Archie, Scarlet and many more super tame and gentle pets.
Amazing experience overall! Nothing :D
- Christine (10/5): Amazing location, accomodation and hosts - Beautiful location and accomodation was perfect. Hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Nothing our stay was perfect
- Raewyn (9/5): Warm and comfy stay - Warm and comfy. Great place to stay if heading to port Arthur.
Appreciated the Breakfast provisions.
Enjoyed seeing the cattle. Everything as expected
- Ruby-lee (10/5): A wholesome, unforgettable farm stay filled with fluffy cows, friendly faces, and simple joys 🐮✨ - We had the most amazing stay at Ruby’s Cottage! Being surrounded by the beautiful highland cows was such a special experience. Getting the chance to brush them and learn more about their personalities was honestly so much fun. We also absolutely loved Dozer the dog on the property he quickly became part of the experience and having breakfast with the chickens was such a fun and wholesome touch 🐮🐔✨ Nothing! We loved the whole experience.
- Binghui (8/5): We enjoyed our stay so much. And we were also glad to meet the cows on the farm. - The location is close to everything. The place was comfortable.
- Gordon (10/5): One of the best places to stay, ever! - Warm hosts, cozy cottage, lovely animals. Beds are a bit squeaky, but a quick fix.
- Hoang Minh (10/5): - The lovely animals, beautiful view
- Hiu lam (7/5): 可以接受 - 住宿都乾淨整潔,田園風味! 出邊地方比較污糟,好多動物屎要小心。環境整體一般。
- Scott (3/5): We had high expectations based on previous reviews and were very disappointed. - Wi-Fi was good. Heater worked. Cottage was clean. Never saw the host. Read great reviews, owner never even said hello. They did email they would not be home the night we arrived. We let ourselves in OK. Read rave reviews about the owners hospitality but experienced none of it. They did not even say hello in the morning. We thought breakfast was included but all we found was minimal dry cereal in a cabinet. The road to the home is single wide dirt with zero lights at night, so be careful after dark. For the cost I would not recommend this place. A hotel would have been a better experience for us.
- Peter (10/5): Lovely farm stay in beautiful nature! - Beautiful and serene location. The hosts and the cows are a treat. Special mention to Dozer who is a beautiful pup that welcomed us! This a perfect place to be out in nature and use asa base for easily exploring the peninsula. Nothing. We loved it all!

- Petronella (9/5): Lovely country farm stay - The highland cows! We patted and brushed them. There was a great basic breakfast, warm and comfortable beds. There was plenty supplies and things for the kitchen It would have been good to have a small table to eat at, My cousin found the water pump noisy and kept her awake. I had no issues

- Colleen (8/5): -
- Amy (9/5): - Location was good for tourist attractions.
Enjoyed the tour of the farm and the brushing of the highland cattle.
Cottage was spacious for a couple.
Curtains were dark enough to keep out the long daylight hours.
Loved all the highland cow decorations, pillows etc.
The night sky was excellent for star gazing. The breakfast was basic, farm fresh eggs, sliced bread and spreads.
No dining table so sat on couch using the coffee table, the outdoor setting was available but a bit cold to venture outside.

The absolute highlight was the animals! Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the farm tour, especially getting the chance to comb the Scottish Highland cows. We also loved the friendly chickens and the dog roaming around; it added such a nice touch to the experience. na
- Amanda (10/5): An escape from the world, Haven with animal loving. - Beautiful farm with loads of lovely animals. Owner was friendly and helpful. N/a
- Alejandra (9/5): Great value and relaxing - Peaceful and quiet. Rod and Kim were outstanding hosts. Rod loves his Scottish Highland cows and we enjoyed our time with him as we brushed the cows. The cabin is very comfortable and cosy. Great views from the paddocks across Port Arthur. Nothing
- Kara (10/5): A genuine Tasmanian experience!! - Our family had the most wonderful short stay at this beautiful homestead. The highlight was getting to brush the Highland cows, such a special, hands on experience! We were taken on a generous guided tour of the farm, learning all about the cows and even getting to know each one by name. Rod was incredibly welcoming and engaging, showing us the stunning views. It was an amazing experience for our children, one they will never forget. We also enjoyed the chickens, sunsets and relaxing by the fire pit. A must if you’re visiting the Tasman Peninsula and just short drive to the Port Arthur Historical Site.
Thanks again, we loved it so much! 🐮🐓🚜🌄
- Andrea (10/5): Enjoyed every moment, we hope to come again! - We absolutely loved every moment at Ruby’s Cottage, it’s even more beautiful than the pictures. It’s in a lovely location, close to lots of the sites and easy to get too.
Kim and Rod are the best hosts as well. They kindly showed us around the farm, introduced us to all their gorgeous animals, cows, chickens and a beautiful dog Dozer. Our two boys were in heaven and we didn’t want to leave.
We highly recommend staying here! Nothing!

- Victoria (10/5): -

- Dave (10/5): - Lovely place to spend a few days while exploring port Arthur. Getting a chance to ‘meet’ the highland cows was a great experience!
- David (8/5): A Breath of fresh air - Wow amazing stay, with the friendly dog, the hungry chickens and the beautiful highland cows, Kim and Rodney have out done themselves, just one wee gripe is the small refridgerator and maybe a laundry, the views from the hill tops of the farm were spatacular Fridge was too small, no laundry facility
- Lee Lian Grace (10/5): -
- Rebel (10/5): -
- Jayne (10/5): A fantastic place. Serene, comfortable & the farm animals were a bonus - Everything. The serenity! Beds comfortable. Good shower. Owner showed us around farm & we got to brush the highland cows!

Rod and Kim were both so welcoming.
Best part for me by far, the Highland Cows. Getting to go out and brush/pat them is my total happy place. Love them. Will definitely be back Nothing to not like

- Liza (10/5): Great hosts, very relaxing and quiet, everything you need to get away. - The view, peace and quiet and fluffy cows
- Helen (8/5): Good basic accomodation in a nice spot with bonus highland cattle to pat. - Loved the peace and quiet and enjoyed the farm tour and highland cattle. Fresh farm eggs and plenty of cereals and bread for toast. No table inside to eat meals off. We managed okay. If weather is fine there is a table undercover outside and a small table and chairs at the front of the house.
- Dona (9/5): -
- Franck (9/5): - Rustic mais tellement vrai
- Pauline (10/5): Great country escape, which I will be highly recommending to family and friends. - Beautiful rural setting in a gorgeous part of Tasmania. Country farm with chooks dogs and cattle and a very comfortable cottage. I being born in the country of Q’land loved being on a farm and being with the cattle was a highlight. Hosts - Rod & Kim were warm and friendly and treated us like family. I have no dislikes at all.
- Kathleen (10/5): The best. So far we love Tasmania - The cows were friendly, the chickens greeted you and walked you to the door, and the dog cracked us up. The place was very comfy and warm. The kitchen supplies were plenty, and the farm fresh eggs a treat. We only stayed one night, but in hindsite, two or three would have been perfect to see the whole area. A little piece of paradise. It was all wonderful.
- Sally (10/5): A perfect place - This place is amazing. The cottage was very well equipped and there was also a lovely continental breakfast with freshly laid eggs from the hens which were freely wandering outside. In the field behind there were some lovely Highland cows including some gorgeous calves
The following morning Rod took us on a tour of the farm and we brushed the cows. It was great and the views were amazing. There was also a really friendly dog who came to see us in the morning. Would love to have stayed longer it was very relaxing.
- Diana (10/5): -
- Tracy (9/5): Ruby Cottage was a delightful experience. - Beautiful location and so very quiet & peaceful. Wonderful hosts. Rod was very giving of his time, showing us the view& introducing us to his Highland Cows &Dozer the gorgeous Kelpie, not to mention the chooks. The cottage was warm and inviting. Highly recommend Ruby Cottage There wasn’t anything that we weren’t happy with
- Elzette (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at Ruby’s. - It is lovely and quiet. Owner Kim allowed us to check in at 3pm instead of 4pm which was great. Rod showed us the Scottish highland cows which was interesting and recommended more places for us to see. Guests need to be aware that this is not a big farm with lots space to walk around. Ruby’s cottage is close to the main house.
- Lewis (10/5): -
- Graham44 (10/5): Kind and friendly hosts - We brought our own breakfast
- Holly (10/5): Cosy and peaceful stay with a view - My partner and I stayed at Ruby’s cottage for 2 nights and it was such a peaceful stay. The wood fire and personal decorations gave the place a cosy feel, and the kitchenette was well stocked. Most importantly, Rod took us on a tour of the highland cows they keep on the property, such lovely animals!
- Pat (9/5): -
- Yehen (9/5): - The cottage was located in a serene part of Port Arthur away from the hustle and bustle. We were greeted by the many chickens at the front of the cottage along with the host's friendly dog. We especially loved Rod's tour with the Highland cows where we spent a good amount of time brushing the friendly animals. Wish we could have stayed longer!!
- Kristal (10/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): Fantastic place to stay in a beautiful part of the world - Ruby's Cottage was so beautiful and in such a lovely area. Rod and Kim were very good host we loved to have the opportunity to brush the hair of the Highland Cows

- Margaret (10/5): -
- James (10/5): Lovely place to stay. Definitely recommend - It was cozy, loved the wood fire, exactly as advertised, great hosts and surroundings are just beautiful.

Was a real pleasure as we had discussions about the cattle herd, Red breasted Robins, island lighthouse in the distance, neighbors, other animals on the farm. Just loved it. Very dark at night with fantastic dark sky stars. We did get a little chilly at night, but it was winter and we didn’t start a fire in the stove…our bad
