- Stevenson (8/5): - too many emails !
- Karla (10/5): -
- Hammer (10/5): - The location :) The lack of a garbage bin to put our pizza boxes. We ended up having to take them with us! Also, maybe have a platypus cabin sign on the building for stupid people like us 😂🤣😅
- Anne (7/5): Beautiful simplicity - Our budget cabin was very spacious and clean, the little heater heated the cabin quite well. The full fridge was great addition and the frying pan was as-new so nothing stuck. To be able to stand outside and just listen to the crickets and ravens was soo relaxing 🤗. The only thing I would add would be a mat upon entry as it was raining when we turned up and there was nothing to wipe your feet on and some matches or a lighter to start the hotplates on the stove as we couldn't find any.
- Wayne (8/5): -
- Michele (8/5): Bush Retreat - Loved the location, felt like we were a million miles from the city, when in fact we were only 20 minutes. The dogs loved the yard to run around in. Nice place to lay my head at the end of the day. Platypus Cottage was a bit small for 4 adults and 2 big dogs but okay for a couple of nights. There was nothing to start the oven with but a box matches purchased the next day fixed that. All in all would not stop me from staying there again.
- Douglas (7/5): Good - Quiet bush setting
- Donna (9/5): -

- Graham (10/5): - Very clean great location
- Michelle (7/5): Escape to Mount Rumney - Escape at Mount Rumney escapes, a beautiful location with comfortable accommodation and stunning views. Amazing wildlife and friendly farm animals. 15-minute drive to great shops and 25 min to city. We loved our stay, and the diversity of birds is awesome 👌 take binoculars. It was quiet, relaxing, and rejuvenating to be surrounded by God's country. I can't fault Mount Rumney Escapes
- Harbour (10/5): - The cabin was amazing, secluded and amazing views, honestly couldn't have asked for a nicer place to get away. Everything we could have wanted was provided, and they even have a delivery service for those inclined to use it. Will be back again, know that much for sure.
- Michele (7/5): -
- Karin (8/5): It was perfectly adequate and good value for money - It was a cute cottage. My grandson liked the ‘ships cabin’ bunk bedroom 🙂 The gravel road was a bit of a shock first time we did it but after that it was ok🙂
- Jacinta (1/5): Do not book Platypus Cabin - Location was nice and close to city There only animals were angry dogs and scared sad looking sheep and a couple of wallabies. It smelt like mold and cigarettes and was incredibly dirty. There was only half a roll of toilet paper doe 4 people for 2 nights. In checking out, police arrived to conduct a search warrant of the property.
- Andrew (7/5): Great location, amenities could be tidied up and modernised to make it bette - The location and views are amazing!! Great value for the location!! The musty old ? Cigarette smell in room and too much overpowering air freshener to cover smell
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Karen (6/5): - value for money
- Lisa (9/5): - Excellent price for facility provided, you wouldn't want 6 people in there though. Basic caravan cabin style, but is fully self contained with small kitchen, decent size fridge. Soap and shampoo etc provided.
Sufficient parking for 2 cars.
Only 15 mins from Hobart. Only Netflix available on TV. I did manage to cast from phone for other options. Eg 7plus.
No salt and pepper, it did have cooking oil though.
- Patel (10/5): - Everything
- Christie (9/5): - Beautiful location, good value, comfortable bed
- Campbell (7/5): -
- Kristy (8/5): Will defently stay again and recommend them to friends and family - Its so peaceful and quiet Chickens comin in the cabin lol
- Mark (9/5): -
- Gordon (2/5): Unfriendly, unprofessional, and ugly, avoid it! - The dirt road is well maintained with plenty of gravel for grip and stability. It was reasonably inexpensive and reasonably close to Hobart. The advertised "ocean views" were non existent, the only "view" was of wrecked cars piled in a heap and the wall of a big shed.
The kitchen chairs were stained and filthy, and the lounge was suspect so I put a towel on it before I sat down. There was a roughly painted sign pointing towards a very steep side road, but the cabin itself had no signage on it whatsoever and I nearly drove right past it down the steep dirt road. I did not receive the welcome email with the instructions on how to get into the cabin until mid afternoon the next day, hours after I checked out, so I had no idea how to access the key, so I rang them up and introduced myself, no friendly hello and welcome, the woman who answered the phone simply rattled off three numbers in a semi annoyed tone then hung up.
- Karen (5/5): Best suited for a week stay to be able to utilise the more homely amenities most hotels don't have. - I liked it had everything a small home has to make life easy... It was lovely to be able to take our dog .. it was very central to hobart and Richmond Was dirty (to be fair the cleaner said was in a bad state of unclean due to previous tenants) we were unable to check in at 2pm we had to come back at 3pm because of the clean up necessary . It needs a massive 2 day clean and badly stained things replaced .eg the fridge smelled so bad but I could see blood on a plastic shelf .. there were people everywhere that didn't appear to be holiday makers or owners they were revving in cars ..shooting guns and I think must have been throwing aerosol cans into fires by the sounds ..there were young guys in cars and walking everywhere .
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Dean (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good - Clean spacious quiet Bunk beds not so good
- Jo-anne (8/5): Very good - Lovely cabin with excellent facilities. Loved the location, no one else nearby which suited us immensely. Quiet and remote which we loved, but were only about 15 mins from a decent shopping centre for all your needs. We didn't really like the dirt road to access the property but we were in a ute that could handle it easily. Nevertheless the road was quite well maintained, no potholes etc.
- Catherine (7/5): Comfy bed, peaceful and clean and love that we could bring our dog. - The bed was comfortable. The cabin was lovely and peaceful and was very clean. I love that we weee able to bring our little dog to the delegated cabin for pets. Thanks so much for that. The entry road is a bit bumpy but we have a 4 wheel drive car so no problem for us.
- Hui (7/5): Good - price location
- Raymond (8/5): Very good -
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional - Full kitchen equipment, washing machine, comfortable space, excellent wifi! !
- Rose-maree (10/5): Exceptional - We loved to goat and sheep. 💜
It was lovely. We went on walks around to see the exceptional view.
- Emeline (10/5): Definitely recommend :) - Everything was perfect, we would come back again with pleasure!
- Di (2/5): Disgusting - Nothing. It was disgusting. We were devastated and it ruined our trip. We tried to find somewhere else but after wasting a day searching, and realising we couldnt get a refund, we had so suck it up and simply stay out as much as possible. So we endured several nights. The only reason we gave a 2 is because it was close to the city.
We saw some positive reviews given by other guests, but there are the new houses with seaviews in a different location. Our review is for Horse Haven. Everything. From the moment we arrived everything was awful - old, broken, dirty, rundown. It seemed that little cleaning or maintenance had been done, and no effort to make it look welcoming. We took loads of photos before we touched anything. We initially drove past the house because it looked like a building in an industrial area. The grass and weeds were overgrown - including in the gutters. The outdoor furniture was strewn all over the place. The front step was collapsing into the ground due to a massive hole under the house - a major health and safety issue. The sliding door was difficult to open and close. The glass was smashed and held together with tape. The fly screens were all shredded, full of holes and falling off (and looking back at other recent reviews, have been that way for a while). The smell inside was overwhelming. The curtains were falling off. There was dirt and stains on the rugs and spillage on the floors which we had to clean up. The table was sticky. A bedroom door was broken and leaning against the couch. The view was bush and a junk yard right next door. The kitchen utensils were filthy including food/grease on the pans. Broken fridge parts stored in the freezer.
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable beds & the cabin had everything we needed.
Beautiful views & the owners are fantastic
- Yu (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (5/5): Staff friendly and helpful. Wouldn't return as cabin was in need of some repair and was a little too - Didn't have breakfast. A bit remote but not too bad there were not many animals as advertised.
Only sheep and a goat and dogs. No deer or chickens or horses. But kids enjoyed it anyway. A little bit too remote I liked the peace and quiet albeit a little too much. Maybe a playground or some more activities for kids to make up for the lack of animals.
- Susiecutely (6/5): Good location and great value for money. - Location excellent. Pillows and double bed good, Bunks fine. Flyscreens should have been fixed/replaced. BBQ broken. Surroundings could have been cleaned up a bit ie scotch thistles and weeds removed. Stepping out from front door timber plywood needs replacing, 2 senior pensioners almost tripped and fell coming and going out of front door.
- Karen (5/5): Sufficient stay - The unit was sufficient for what we needed for the one night. The location was close to the airport and the unit was adequately equiped. The bed was not very comfortable and there was not a selection of pillows to choose from to suit different needs. Outside area needs care and maintenace, rubbish bin was overflowing, bbq was not working and outside furniture missed pillows to sit on.
- Glenda (10/5): I would highly recommend this apartment it was great. - It was a very heavy fog, Obviously not the proprietors fault but made it so difficult to find, we’ve been there twice before just an unfortunate night with the fog being so thick, on the whole. It’s a great property to stay really good, beautiful in the country.
- Deborah (5/5): It was ok for just an overnight stay, definitely not 5 star - It was close to airport Run down, rubbish overflowing out of bin, lawn uncared for, bunk bed not made up, bbq was stuffed
- Michelle (6/5): Perfect for dog friendly housing and get away. - Dog friendly! And fenced for them. Able to walk around and country vibe close to major cities. A bit run down and a lot of scrap vehicles next to location. Machines running late at night and early in morning.
- Karen (3/5): Poor -
- Pollard (10/5): Excellence at Mt Rumney Escape! - Comfy, excellent, everything we needed was there We didn't...
- Saritha (7/5): Good -
- Mandy (7/5): Good -
- Wendy (1/5): Bad - Nothing This place doesn’t deserve a star. The road to get there is rough, muddy, single lane and far from the main road. We can not contact the host. We called a few times and left messages on voicemail. No reply. The place is in the junk yard. It is an old tin shed , the furnitures needs refurbishment. There is no adequate heat and water. The second bedroom has no window and airless, dark with two bunkers. You need to drive out to get anything. There is no sea view as described from inside the cabin but forest. We left after 10 mins and did not stay as it was too cold. There is only one heater in the hall but no heating in the rooms. We brought our foreign friend here but was disappointed.
- Bec (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bec (10/5): Exceptional -
- Macauley (9/5): Great value for money, will be back. - Great location close to the airport, very cheap price. A few cob webs above the door, and the outside could do with a little tidy up. I think the recent wind had knocked a few things over and made it look a lil messy.
- Zoe (8/5): Quiet country escape in a city. - Nice quiet location very close to Hobart. All the facilities we needed. Rural location with city convenience. the road in is a bit dicey apparently the owners will be sorting that out in time.
- Melita (1/5): Bad - Nothing because a lady that owns this told me she would help me and my family out but didn't than she got very nasty and called me saying that I couldn't stay any longer there because I left some dishes in a dv sitoution and than the children had some crumbs on the floor and she complained I also paid a cleaning fee I Also offers her to go back to clean what she was complaining over The owner is nasty
- Mell (4/5): Cheap outback accommodation - Price and the painted wall area that divides you from broken down machinery and cars which you can still see some off. Absolutely terrible position and road with rain damage, they don't use electric lights at front gate or down there water damaged dirt road. Google maps didn't even know exactly where it was and took us up to the top of the mountain with a very small area to turn around in. The decent was scary as I was driving a small rental car and extremely hard to navigate the pot holes in the dirt road at night. Don't arrive at this place at night time. Also zero wind or rain protection in front of cabin. I did not enjoy anything about this property, it was extremely cold they don't put on the oil heater before you arrive to get it warm. No electric blankets to keep you warm i slept with a beanie and 2 layers of pyjamas. This property needs a lot of work still to be done and I feel they have done it as cheap as possible. Zero great view which is why I went there but if you're after cheap it ticks that box. No one home next morning either to let them know we are leaving or to speak to someone about our stay.
- Jessica (3/5): Not happy Jan - Free wifi and Netflix.
There were a couple of activities for the kids to do. Pencils but nothing to draw on mind you.
Washing machine and clothes airer Where do I start. No covered outdoor area what so ever, just a muddy parking area full of puddles. I was asked to put rubbish in the outdoor bin but the outdoor bin was overflowing with rubbish obviously from the previous guests and was not emptied. I sent a message to the owners about the rubbish but had no reply, and then the animals got into the rubbish and dragged it all over the yard and was still not sorted.
The toilet had a leak, so there was always water on the floor of the bathroom. All the windows had mold/mildew and most of the window sills were dripping wet. The base of the shower also had not been properly cleaned and was green in spots.
Couldn't open half of the blinds as there were no pulley chords. There was something in the bedding as I ended up with hives or may have been bites all over my body.
Had new guests turning up to our cabin as they couldn't fund the office. Also had people walking out the front of the cabin at night. The cabin is fenced so there should be no reason for anyone besides the guests of the cabin to be in there.
All of the dishes, cups and cutlery tasted like hand soap so had to all be rewashed.
The BBQ was so crusty with old food that it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and the oven looked just as bad.
No free to air TV only Netflix.
Yes it did have a washing machine and clothes airer but tried to dry the clothes for 2 days and were still damp even with the heater on high constantly.
Never found out where the office was and have no idea where all these so called animals were. We only saw a few sheep running down the rd 30 mins before we left. When you come down the driveway there is only one sign pointing towards a cabin. No signage for the office or any of the other cabins.
But the worst was the lack of communication and hospitality by the owners even after I had raised concerns.
Will definitely not stay there again and wouldn't recommend staying in the horse haven cabin.
- Larny (8/5): Very good - The views 😍 rustic charm
- Jason (10/5): It was a fantastic experience and would come back to stay at the sea view if it’s available. - The place is very homely and it provide Netflix as well. We built a campfire and had lots of fond memories barbecue with family Probably can provide aluminium foil for the BBQ pit which is quite used.
- Weliwita (7/5): Good -
- Lyri (5/5): Passable - I was asked to send a form of identification online!?
- Jau (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Pasan (10/5): Must visit again. - Everything was beyond our expectations and it was worth the cost. The setting was amazing and the kitchen drawers came packed was very useful. Nothing really showed up unsatisfactory.
- Farr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leisa (8/5): Great cabin, surrounds not as good - The location isn’t as lovely as the other cabins due to the works surrounding, but the cabin is well set up, easy to get warm with the heating and doonas, plus the Netflix etc included is great.
- Rajan (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Good and handy to Hobart..great Lil cabin
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Moi (7/5): A pleasant stay at the place -
- Willemot (7/5): Good -
- Silvere (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (8/5): Nice and quiet - It was lovely and quiet, easy instructions sent via email as to how to retrieve key. Close to the airport which was the purpose of our visit there.
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable & clean great big fenced yard for the dog Loved everything
- Emrah (5/5): didn't meet the expectations and reviews were misleading - Haven Horse House is old and run down. Its surrounds do not resemble a pleasant holiday environment and not in particularly nice condition. Views and positives that are mentioned in other customer reviews for this establishment seem to be for their other rentals of this establishment. They are indeed good, yes. They are in a different location distant from this one. Given however it is in an affordable budget bracket if you are just looking for a basic place to sleep at budget, and if you won't spend much time in the house itself, it might be a passable choice. Otherwise I would definitely spend a bit more and rent one of their other rentals or look for another place. The owner was kind and responsive though.
- Vanessa (9/5): Perfect stay for us, quiet secluded, peaceful in the bushland, plenty of room for 2 and great price - Gorgeous location, right up on top of the mountain, perfect for us - peaceful, no noise surrounded by bushland nothing
- Shelley (8/5): We will come back and stay again. Amazing people that we connected with, most gretful. Shell and Cam - We didn't have breakfast but that was fine. There was oil and salt and sugar etc which was great. We were looked after by the owners very well and we enjoyed our visit there very much. We couldn't believe the amazing views from the top of the hill. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it before. We would go back for sure and next time stay up the hill for the views.
- Lee (7/5): Good -
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (1/5): I defenately would NOT stay here again. The last stop in Tasmania was so disappointing - The view driving up to the cabin. I tried to resolve the issues with the owner via email rather than post a bad review. I wanted to refund for the cleaning costs of $15. After telling the owner my concerns I had no offer of compensation. We had no wifi, the password was there but not connection. The TV had no signal. There were cobwebs on the window sills that had been there a long time. My booking.com paperwork said 14:00 check in, when we got there at 2:30 the bed linen was on the settee, so we made the bed ourselves. Then the cleaners turned up and spent all of 10 minutes cleaning. After my email the owners said it was a 15:00 check in, the tv was working and if we had any issues with the wifi and tv we should have gone to the office. We didn't know where that was, we tried to call the number on the booking.com paperwork three times to be told that it could not be connected. I mentioned the outside area was not as the photos showed, it was overgrown where you should have been able to sit for a BBQ. I was told it's the bush and its not maintained. One of the chair legs was broken and was dangerous to sit on. As we are travelling from the UK we are reliant on wifi at each stop, we do not have a connection in between our travels.
- Shukaib (8/5): Very good -
- Shirley (8/5): Central to what we needed -
- Gary (3/5): Poor - Low budget quite location Smelly house ,bed bugs broken chairs running out of water
A long rocky road before getting to the house
- Junko (9/5): Superb - Good location
We had never seen other tourists
We feeled like a hidden retreat
All facilities are well organized and functional.
My kids loved bunk beds. Thank you Some of carpets and vacuum cleaner
are a bit fillthy.
But that's all about it.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Berry (8/5): Holiday in natural beauty - Natural surroundings All was good
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Ginn (9/5): Very kind hospitality! - Nice & decent stay. Recommend house with Seaview.
- Brett (9/5): Superb - Superb location and scenery, handy to attractions. Booking process and staff communication clear and uncomplicated.
- Kirk (5/5): The cabin was basic in a rugged bush location. Good value for money for Hobart. - Good facilities, free connection to Netflix and lovely rugged, bush location. If you've got the right vehicle, it's great value for money for Hobart. Cleanliness - the cabin smelt, and the doors leaked water when it rained, they didn't lock properly and they had mould on them.
- John (8/5): In all the place was comfortable and value for money. - Meals were not included. We needed to see friends in Lauderdale so the location was good. The kitchen was well provided with crockery, cutlery etc. A bbq was on site but no gas bottle so we couldn’t use it. The house needs a good clean, I had to wipe the kitchen chairs over before we sat down. There was dust on open shelving, the toaster was dirty and the fridge hadn’t been wiped out.
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (8/5): Very good - We were in Horse Haven. The location of our house had beautiful views ,not sea view which was alright to us, as we came there only in the night and left morning. House had all the amenities we needed. Thankyou for making our stay comfortable. We did a nice walk in the morning to have a glimpse of Seaview from the other houses you have.
- Katrina (9/5): Superb - Everything was well thought out and the location was great
- Anne (7/5): Good - Comfortable place, basic facilities and close to airport. No view - (but other accommodation on the property do have views), grill hadn't been cleaned.
- Kirsty (8/5): Lovely quiet spot. - The room was warm with the use of the heater...Netflix was great and access to free WiFi!
Milk in the fridge and coffee and tea. Working washing machine! :) Thanks very much! Just a bit dangerous with the roads travelling at night to and from the property.
Washing powder was empty.
- Stocklover (9/5): Superb - On top of the mountain. The staff are careless. They mistook other people' credit card for mine.
