Guest Reviews
- Marie-An (10/5): - Amazing stay in the middle of the Daintree forest. Super relaxing and calming being right next to a fruit orchard you can pick fruits from. The cabins were built beautiful to ensure guests are fully integrated within the rainforest including no glass windows. Would have loved to stay longer. The kitchen sink is outside
- Nanna (10/5): -
- Anna Sophia (10/5): The coziest and cutest rainforest cabin! - + super cozy, private and clean cabin, a creek and the rainforest right in front of it
+ great hosts, thank you Jason for the tour in the fruit orchard, we really loved the mangosteens and the breadfruit chips!
+ extremely comfortable having the nice bed and the bathroom but to also be right in the middle of nature; we loved listening to the rain in the evening
+ good cooking facilities with the BBQ and the gas stove
+ the cabin was even better than in the pictures
For future visitors: keep in mind that there are no windows, only the mosquito screens
- Suratos (10/5): -
- William (8/5): Lovely space amidst Daintree rainforest - Blissfullocation N/A
- Hanna (10/5): - Remote location with an authentic flair. Truly immersive rainforest experience. Creek next to the cabin that you can bath in.
- Robert (10/5): Idyllic rainforest cabin - Everything! Spacious and comfortable raised cabin surrounded by rain forest and tropical fruit orchard. Large deck with BBQ, table and chairs. Covered parking port. Wooden interiors, well appointed. Jungle walk from cabin. Away from other accommodation. Nothing really. No a/c or wifi but neither expected.
- Jessica (9/5): -
- Nina (7/5): Enjoyable stay overall - For a relatively small cabin it had everything you might need on holiday. The facilities were accurately described by the hosts. Great location in the remote part of Cape Tribulations The cabin doesn’t have windows and instead has shutters like many houses in the area. However almost every one of them was broken and couldn’t be closed. It was always windy inside and didn’t help good night sleep
- Berit Overrein (10/5): - Fantastic place. A unique experience to stay so close to the rainforest. Clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.
- monique (9/5): Magical stay, loved it and highly recommend! - Location - wow! It was such a privilege to stay somewhere so beautiful within the rainforest, we really immersed in and couldn’t believe the magic of the place with amazing gardens, trees and wildlife. Photos don’t do it justice! We loved exploring the fruit orchard in our backyard and found the most amazing fruits. Jason and Sharee were lovely friendly hosts, pointing us in the direction of the seasonal fruits and giving us local tips. We loved the layout of the house with outdoor tables and lounges, and really relaxed and enjoyed the sounds and tranquility. And the pool was beautiful - refreshing and so clean. Nothing we didn’t like! We were fine with no aircon given it is a self sufficient home in the middle of the rainforest - the fans indoor and out were really strong and we all slept well.
- Meetali (7/5): - Private and close to cape Trib. No air conditioning
- Troy (10/5): - Location, Cabin, Creek, Fruit orchard... what more could you ask for.
From the moment we arrived to the second we left everything was perfect.
The peacefulness and serenity of these cabins was the ultimate getaway from the chaos of everyday life. Nothing other than the fact we only booked 2 nights.
- David (9/5): - I loved the isolation and peacefulness here even though you are only a 3 minute drive to the "town".
With only the sounds of the forest around you, it was so different, which is exactly why I wanted to stay there.
And at night when all the animals came alive and busy, it was such a contrast from the relative silence of the day.
The bowl of fruit that was supplied was great too.
Had never tried these 3 fruits before and they were great.
An added bonus. 😀
I highly recommend this stay.
- Ruth (6/5): Pleasant - Well located in proximity to walks tours and corner shop. Nice grounds and pretty cabin. I am a fellow short stays host of many years and found it sad the owner/host did not come to greet us nor share information about the various fruit trees on the property. Before we arrived in a standard email we were invited to pick the fruit, but the trees were bare other than the odd Durian. Being partly a fruit farm it would have been lovely for the host to have put some produce in the room in a basket or a laminated guide to the exotic fruits. It was a missed opportunity for my daughter and I to have what we thought was going to be a special experience and ended up being just a pleasant place to rest the head.
- Veronique (10/5): - super emplacement dans la forêt tropicale, beau chalet confortable
- Volker (10/5): - The jungle walk on the premise was very nice, but at one Point we could not find the markers and got lost
Tutto fantastico!
- Lorena (10/5): -
- Cameron (10/5): - Location was fabulous, was quiet and lovely to be amongst the nature. Cabin was nice We couldn't quite shut the windows properly and it got cold in the evening as we stayed during winter. Rest of the year it would be fine.
- Tamsen (10/5): Delightful rainforest immersion - The rainforest setting is amazing. The cabin is very private and has everything you need. We brought bbq ingredients for one night but wished we had organised ingredients for two nights because it was a shame to leave the property for dinner. It is a great location - close to the Cape Trib village ( 10-15 minute walk). The grounds are great with many fruit trees. The cabin has a comfortable bed, good bathroom, gas cooking element, crockery etc. Beautiful! Liked it all
- Monique (10/5): -
- Kutz (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - The location is wonderful. A great way to spend a few days in Cape Tribulation.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Sabrina (9/5): Superb -
- Zaira (10/5): Exceptional - The house was simply amazing, very clean.
We really enjoy the atmosphere of the location
The sound of the forest was something unbelievable.
I wish I could stay there forever.
- Jessica (10/5): Amazing and special rental home in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest with a spectacular pool and situated on a beauti - Wildwood House- This is a very special property. We loved the outdoor seating areas/porches especially in the evenings and the pool was like something out of a resort. The home is situated on a large piece of property with an orchard that we enjoyed exploring. One of my favorite things was just the beauty and peace of the early mornings - it was very relaxing. We also appreciate all of the helpful information provided by the owners. Our only downside was we visited at the height of the hot season and sweltered a bit over night. Go during the cooler months if you can. But overall it was was worth the heat!
- Anna (10/5): It felt like a retreat. - We loved this property! It was so unique and so private.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaclyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hagay (9/5): amazing property - so beautiful, quiet, private, lots of games, books, a wonderful pool, comfortable beds could be perfect with with insect nets at th main house
- Aussiemichael (9/5): Superb -
- Gwen (10/5): Amazing place to stay! Cabins beautiful, felt the tranquility of the forest. Definitely will return. - Amazing place to stay! Cabins are absolutely beautiful and so comfortable. We were immersed in the tranquility of the rainforest. Lots of extras provided to make the stay special. We had such a good time! Definitely want to go back.
- Thomas (9/5): Beautiful spot for a weekend getaway. - Serene, tranquil environment Extra cost for firewood.
- Hastings (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (10/5): Superb luxury accomoarjon in the rainforest - Superb luxury property in the rainforest. Very well equipped kitchen and huge coveted and uncovered outside areas. Despite the amount of insects in the area the property itself was spotless and the location was amazing, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest and frequently visited by wildlife. Short drive or walk to cape Trib ‘center’ Nothing
- Janette (9/5): Lovely stay in the middle of the rainforest. - Lovely stay in the middle of the rainforest. Kids loved the pool, table tennis, trampoline and abundance of toys/games/dvds to enjoy between relaxing and enjoying the best of the Daintree. Fruit farm was delicious - chocolate pudding fruit with cream the best of treats! So many places to relax in the surrounding natural beauty.
- Courtney (10/5): Excellent facilities and very private and comfortable. Happily recommend to others - Very cosy and comfortable against the daintree. very quiet and away from other busy accommodations Nothing, loved it! But do be open to a very close toilet-living room arrangement
- Marc (10/5): Our stay was amazing and will definitely be back to stay again. - The location was stunning being situated in the rainforest and tropical fruit orchard. The bed was very hard and not comfortable as it is a lot harder then we are used to.
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Amazing rain forest getaway. - Wildwood was an idyllic accommodation for us, we wanted something that felt like part of the natural surroundings and it felt just like that, but while also being comfortable and practical. Our hosts were really friendly and made us feel very welcome as well as giving us tips for the area.
We stayed in Black Bean cabin which had a fantastic view out into the rainforest and overlooked a little creek which serenaded us to sleep each night.
For practical purposes, we were a couple and took food to have a cooked meal each day for four days, as well as snacks and drinks. The fridge is a decent size but we also had a cool box to store things that didn't need to go in the fridge such as potatoes. Everything we needed to cook and clean was there including a really good gas bbq. You can drink the water in the cabin too.
The location is great for accessing everything north of Daintree River and we easily did all the boardwalks, ocean safari and Cooper creek cruises all within a short drive / walk. Honestly there was nothing that could really be improved with the accommodation, it was great. I think the only think we wish had with us was a drying like or something as once things got wet we struggled for places to dry them.
- Maree (10/5): Delightful private creek to explore and cool down very relaxing after travelling - Private different and relaxing Seasonal fruit and after wet season a little boggy to walk about
- Colin (9/5): Very comfortably well equipped and easy to find. Everything worked. - It was exactly as listed, in the rain forest, very quiet except for the sounds of the forest. Very comfortably well equipped and easy to find. Everything worked. NOthing
- Joseph (10/5): Fantastic stay in remote wilderness. - Beautiful location surrounded by rainforest, fruit trees, and birds really immerses you in the wilderness experience. The cabin has ample space to spread out for a couple, enjoy the views and enjoy simple meals. The bed was comfortable and bathroom well equipped to clean up after hikes and snorkeling. We only prepared simple breakfasts, for which the facilities were perfect, but you'll need to plan ahead, bring more items and get creative for bigger meals. Meals on the veranda were so much fun. The unit was very clean considering its location and all the netting, windows, etc were very effective at keeping the bugs outside.
- Anna (10/5): Absolutely exceptional hosts, an exhilarating private forest trail, delicious fresh fruit ☺️ - Breakfast was not provided but there was fresh fruit from the orchard.
The hosts were exceptional in their organisation prior to arrival, the information provided prior to arrival, the friendliness and text message on arrival and their help with whatever we needed. Could not recommend it more! Nothing!
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): Great place to stay, hosts gave a lot of excellent local tips and information. - Location was only 5 minutes drive to township. Bbq on verandah was great for breakfast. Very clean and comfy bed. Super helpful advice from hosts regarding local activities and food. ie coopers creek wilderness ocean safari and solar whisperer, buy food from Mossman, turtle cafe great. I guess it wasn't tropical fruit season, I read about fruit platters and orchard tours but there was no offer. It would have been nice to have fresh towels each day without asking as it was pretty wet and nothing was drying.
- Casper (9/5): Superb - Remoteness of location and immersion in the rainforest Only drawback for us was shower alternates 1min hot water 1min cold water
- Emma (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing and great location. - The property is located in the rainforest and you instantly feel at peace. The pictures are exactly what you get.
It was an amazing place to stay and a great location. I’m looking forward to coming back. Nothing
- Upton (9/5): enjoyable and a great spot in nature - beautiful environment, comfortable bed, good BBQ a bit more expensive but probably worth it.
- Jeremy (10/5): Wildwood was the perfect base for exploring Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest. - Wildwood was the perfect base for exploring Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest. Our family of five which included three teenager daughters loved it. The property is private and spacious with multiple spaces for relaxing. We felt like we had the forest to ourselves yet everything was only a walk or 2 minute drive away. We would love to visit again! Not much. The only thing I can think of is that there are quite a few mosquitoes in the evening which makes it a bit harder to enjoy the outdoor spaces.
- Tamerin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Layton (10/5): Magical tropical escape with seasonal fruit delights - Loved the secluded cabin and fruit picking experience. Lovely location bordering the forest, perfect for relaxing.
- Kaitlyn (8/5): this place won’t be for everyone, but if you want to relax by the sounds of a babbling creek and wildlife, this is a gre - the location - right on the creek - was absolutely amazing and our cabin (black bean) felt very isolated from the other cabins. the walk around the property was challenging in parts, but well designated by markers on the trees and a great way to see the rainforest. bed, blankets and pillows were comfortable and bathroom spotlessly clean. having fruits of the orchard in the room was a nice touch. given the price of the room, the lack of a sink (other than the bathroom) for washing up inside the cabin was a bit disappointing. a few of the windows and skylights didn’t have blinds, which meant there was light in the morning and a few of the window louvres didn’t shut (but this wasn’t an issue as the fly screen is in reasonably hood condition), and the couch wasn’t particularly comfortable. it also would have been nice to have umbrellas in the room to borrow during our stay. the tea bags in the tea container had cross contaminated (black and peppermint) and gotten a bit mildewy given the dampness in the air. you need to drive to all facilities except the cassowary restaurant at ferntree lodge (which did a great dinner), but that’s the price you pay for the amazing setting.
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - in the most beautiful setting in surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest
- Josh (9/5): Superb -
- Yuhan (7/5): Good - Amazing room and location - beautiful walks and trees at your doorstep just outside your window. Wild in Wildwood is legit - so careful as bugs will get into every nook and cranny. Had lizards, tiny ants, cockroaches and all! You're fully in the wild!
- Sophie (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (10/5): Incredible cabin & experience - loved every minute of our stay! - amazing location in the middle of Cape Tribulation - lots of privacy, very comfortable & you really felt a part of the rainforest!!!
- Sharni (10/5): amazing time - the view from the cabin was beautiful may need a thicker blanket it got chilly at night with the rain
- Tess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): gorgeous place and wonderful hosts - amazing location with natural water hole to swim in and rain forest at your doorstep loved everything
would of been great to have a plan / map of the orchard indicating which fruits come into season at certain times of the year (also what colour they should be)
a toaster in the room would be good
- Venkata (10/5): Exceptional - We were looking for our first stress-free rainforest experience when we found Wildwood. A wonderfully furnished cabin in the middle of jungle was just what we had in our mind. We did our grocery shopping in Cairns before we arrived in cape Tribulation, as timely advised by our host Sheree. The cabin had all the essentials we needed during our stay.
Few cafes and ocean Safari tours office are around the corner (15 min walk).
We enjoyed exploring the inhouse fruit orchard (thanks Jason for showing us around) and tasting few of them.
We did the ocean Safari reef snorkeling tour. Highly recommended!
We also just took time off doing board walks and the jungle walk which starts right behind the cabin is the best of them all. It is not boarded though but gives a nice jungle feeling.
The nights were also uniquely amazing, sleeping to the rain and jungle noises.
All in all, highly recommended. Will do it again if we happen to be around.
- Gorgia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Torri-dee (9/5): Superb -
- Tanya (8/5): Very special experience - The location was very special! Loved the beautiful surroundings. Great access to the reef. Ocean Safari did a fabulous tour.
The fruit that was left to try was delicious I felt that a bit more attention to property maintenance would have enhanced the overall look and feel. Fly wire on the windows definitely needs replacing to keep mosquitoes at bay. Checking that the previous guests had washed the cutlery etc would also be nice.
- Sue (8/5): The best of both worlds ...a cabin in a rainforest and a tropical fruit orchard. - Loved the cabin in the rainforest, with a loop walk, and a tropical fruit orchard. The tropical fruit we ate were interesting and we liked the information provided. We loved the way we were encouraged to pick and try the fruit. The view of the garden was captivating with fruit bats, birds and butterflies to watch. The cabin itself was cooled well with its situation but the stream and the fans. We were pleased not to have air con. The bed was very comfortable and we had most if what we needed. It was difficult to get a consistent temperature in the shower. Ice for cold drinks would have been nice and a fan on the verandah where we spent most of our time. We hadn't read the information clearly enough when booking and didn't realize that the pool was only for the house guests. I think that could have been made clearer on the website. However we did go to the local swimming holes, and loved it, particularly Emmagen creek.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): a fantastic stay with my family in two cabins. - the cabins were spectacular. the fruit trees were great. we had a lot of fun using the picking sticks. Jason and Sharee we’re friendly and helpful. Loved the hike behind the property. challenging with fallen trees in places but very well marked. the fire pit was a pleasant addition.
- Emma (10/5): It was absolute heaven -
- Tracey (10/5): Amazing getaway - Wildwood is in a beautiful location offering peace and tranquility. Our cottage was beautifully maintained and extremely comfortable.
- Peter (9/5): great location and amazing feel to the property. - loved waking up to the view of the rainforest. the sound of the birds although quite noisy at times was incredible. really felt immersed in the landscape.
- Bridie (8/5): relaxing rainforest stay - beautiful cabin and surrounds no pool
- Laurencx13 (10/5): Stunning rainforest cabin! - The cabin was amazing! So private and peaceful. 3 minutes from the CBD.
Very comfortable with all of the cooking equipment we needed. The owner was very friendly and brought us more supplies for around the fire cooking. There was a private forest walk which we didn't go on incase we came across any snakes but it's a great idea to offer this to guests as an alternative to busy tourist walks. The white wine we bought was very moreish 😄 We would recommend to anyone. The only problem was the shower door did not have a trim on the bottom so we ended up having a soaking bathroom floor when showering.
- Louisa (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - What a gem in the rainforest. We really enjoyed our stay at Wildwood. Our cottage was clean, quiet and comfortable. The cottage has a BBQ and small stove to cook on so fresh food only, also the washing up has to be done outside. This was unexpected for us but we loved it. I would highly recommend this accommodation to my friends and family. The private rainforest walk on the property is a little hilly but good exercise.
- Richard (10/5): really happy, the place and the hosts were very generous. - Jason was great took the time to connect and share a few stories and bring us some awesome fruit from the amazing tropical orchard. would definitely reccomend!
- Tyson (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Highly recommended - Breakfast was simple but nice. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly
- Julieanne (10/5): Exceptional - I love how private the cabins are and how the view
opens right onto the rainforest. so peaceful and
tranquil. absolutely loved the rainforest walk and
orchards. would definitely recommend this property
and would lol come back and stay. Everything
you need to rechargec and get back to nature.
- Charles (10/5): magical two days in this tropical paradise. the cabin and location were simply stunning and we’d love to return! - the amazing location and beautiful, unique cabin
- Marilena (8/5): we leave with sadness as it is a lovely place to unwind and reset our minds, tranquil - location is excellent, property was very clean and Sharee was very clear and informative with pre arrival and Jess we met on our 2nd day was lovely, friendly and very helpful with information. thank-you to both Jess and Sharee
- Pavel (9/5): Superb -
- Simone (10/5): We loved our stay at Wildwood, thanks for having us. We will be back! - The experience of staying at Wildwood was amazing. Perfectly positioned within the rainforest, with each window supplying a beautiful view bringing the nature closer. Very comfortable with everything we required for a memorable stay.
Also loved picking fruit in the tropical fruit orchard and the self guided forest walk. Nothing
- Grant (8/5): Overall the stay was memorable and the location was very special. - The location was spectacular set amongst beautiful tropical forest yet close to town and the ocean. The cottage was roomy enough and the bed was very comfortable. The interior of the cabin with its wood floors, walls and ceiling provided a lovely ambience. Everything was exceptionally clean. There were clear instructions about the use and function of various aspects of the accommodation. A lovely touch was the bowl of tropical fruits with comprehensive notes about them. The leaking shower cubicle which leaked into the rest of the bathroom for some time after use was a downer.
The kitchen set up was disappointing, the lack of a sink inside the house and having to trek outside down a flight of steps to a sink in the carport was impractical and a nuisance. A lack of kitchen cupboards with pots and pans stored on the floor wasn't good. The electric kettle and saucepans with metal handles is somewhat dangerous as they get vey hot. Once the kettle or pans were hot there was absolutely nowhere tu put them to cool down.
The old sofa bed/lounge was dated and uncomfortable. The lack of a table and chairs inside the room was unfortunate, although there was an old wooden table and uncomfortable chairs on the verandah.
