Guest Reviews
- Rylee (10/5): Tiny piece of Paradise - Absolutely fantastic location away from all the hussle and bussle. Enjoy the birdsong and occasional Moo but surrounded by local wildlife. Kicking back infront of the fire and enjoying the nature. Had a visit form then local goats whi made sure we were up to code with our fire. Enjoy the outdoor tub for true relaxation even if you get stared down by a kookaburra!
Everything you need for a trip away and a little snag of paradise.
- Igor AU (8/5): - Very nice location Quite and picturesque place. Comfortable bed. Make sure you wash all crockery and cutlery before using them. BBQ is for sausages and/or veggies, not enough temperature for steak.
- Maurits (9/5): - Very nice quiet location. Beautiful garden. Swimming in nearby river. Kitchen bit basic (although air fryer ordent). No dishwasher.
- Scott (10/5): - Was peaceful and great location and facilities.
Owners were really friendly and helpfull
- Aya (10/5): - Beautifu and peaceful area and well maintain cabin with everithing we needed. We had wonderful time. Highly reccomended. Make sure you wear suitable shoes for walking when you go to the river.
- Suzanna (8/5): Charming countryside cottage with lovely private riverside haven - We loved the location, it was right across from the river where we could paddle and hang out. As it was also on the owners land we could have full privacy there and avoid the crowds which was fantastic! Our dog absolutely loved it! The owners were very friendly and accommodating, bringing some chairs down to the riverside for us to use. The property had so much charm and would be lovely in the winter or cooler weather. The property was a little dusty (triggering my dust allergies sadly) and it could have done with a thorough clean for cobwebs and dead bugs around the windows in the bathroom. It was extremely hot when we visited and we suffered with no aircon in the bedroom, but the lounge was lovely and cool which provided relief. Lovely big TV and the biggest coffee table I’ve ever seen which would be great for board games.

- Neil (9/5): A beautiful and very comfortable location. I thoroughly recommend this location to any bird nerd out there. - Access to nature and bird watching.
- Torben (9/5): -
- Megan (10/5): Perfect couple getaway - It was perfect, quite relaxing , comfortable bed , clean . Easy instructions to find , Peaceful .getaway . Lovely we will love to go back. 10/10
- Terry (8/5): If any negative feedback the front door lock needs to be fixed had trouble lining up lock with door - We loved how secluded this place felt. Just driving to the cottage you get the sense of being in the heart of nowhere . It’s such a special spot nestled in a beautiful valley offering complete tranquility. The building itself was beautiful and rustic with a quaint living room and comfy bed. It was nice to see wildlife around the property and the short stroll to the river added to its charm. It’s an ideal place to unplug and unwind . We enjoyed the drive to Dorrigo National Park to explore its amazing rainforest walks . And Bellingen town is just a 20 minute scenic drive and it’s delightful little town to explore
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Kerryn (7/5): Good - Layout and location. Very peaceful and relaxing. Had hoped for some farm interaction but we didn't see anyone. Also kayaks hadn't been used for years and no bungs just spider nests so couldn't paddle in the river but swim was nice.
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional - A lot of thought has been put into providing guests with a comfortable stay. Lovely location surrounded by nature. Has own swimming hole on river however current quite strong on our visit. Was nice to sit in shallow rapids though. Hot water in shower intermittent which is ok in summer
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Alexis (10/5): A very pleasant, fun place to stay with an excellent location. - Fabulous location and atmosphere. Every need had been catered for and comfort was considered in every aspect of our stay. The evening display by the flock of black cockatoos settling down for the night was unforgettable and a true bonus. Nothing but just wish it was closer to our home!
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monica (9/5): Superb - Very eclectic and comfortable cottage in a beautiful bush land setting.
- Olga (8/5): A very relaxing space and time . We really enjoyed the sourdough that Stuart offered us . - The surroundings and the beautiful lush vegetation added to the calm . It was lovely being able to see the cows and the goats at a distance and to hear the very noisy black cockatoos at the start and end of the day . There was a good selection of DVDs . It was a comfortable space with the basics supplied and the beds were comfy . The crockery was very good also . An absence of a practical dining table with comfortable chairs . The clothes rack for drying clothes needs to be replaced as it was flimsy and broken . A tea towel rail would be very helpful . There is no closet as mentioned in the description . It’s not ok to store toxic cleaning products with glad wrap ,grease proof etc.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jasmin (10/5): Peacful and Perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway and exploring. - We loved the quiet and peacful setting. The fireplace was a bonus and the wood was prepared and ready to go. Lots of little extras that made the stay very relaxing and comfortable. It was just Perfect for a much needed weekend of RnR. The Wifi was intermittent but also expected for that area.
- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Gareth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mccready (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (9/5): A lovely retreat off the beaten track amongst nature! - From the moment we opened the door we really felt like we’d found a little slice of heaven for a couple of nights. So nice to get back to basics and enjoy fireside living amongst peace and quiet. My son loved the goats and cows and the owner showed him how to feed them. The property has a lot of beautiful trees and history and we appreciated the owner showing us these and chatting to us about the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bath was massive and very relaxing. Filtered rain water from the tap was beautiful to drink and meant we didn’t need to use our own filter. Wifi isn’t great which just meant we had a bit of a digital detox which was appreciated. Instead we enjoyed watching the DVD’s provided and teaching our millennial child about the past. The kitchen is small but does the trick. The exposed underneath of the sink where cutlery is kept could be improved.
- Vivian (9/5): Quiet retreat away from noise - The wood fire stove was just perfect given the miserable weather. The weather, it rained on and off the whole time but the rain added to the rainforest atmosphere.
- Barbara (9/5): Superb -
- Tobin (10/5): Great stay -
- James (9/5): Great spot it was a shame that it rained during most of ou stay - Great location N/A
- Shayne (9/5): Beautiful - Loved how remote it felt. Just driving down the road you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. Good selection of books and DVDs. The animals around the place and the short walk down to the river. All very peaceful.
- Tracy (9/5): Superb -
- Nova (10/5): A gorgeous place to unwind in a lovely valley in a thoughtfully designed little home. - I loved Birdsong. What a special little place to stay in a beautiful valley. It was so peaceful and the little house was so thoughtful. It was beautifully built with so many lovely touches. We loved the giant swing seat out the front and all the games and DVDs provided. It had a really interesting and rustic design and it's a perfect spot to disconnect. I enjoyed driving to Dorrigo national park and the rainforest walks there are great, that's very close. Bellingen town is only 15-20 minutes walk and it's a great little town. A king bed and AC in the bedroom would be my only suggestions
- Gwen (10/5): Loved it and will return - Table knives really blunt. Could hardly cut butter. A couple more tea towels would have been good
- Julie (9/5): Had a lovely comfortable relaxing stay. X - It’s beautiful feel
- Effie (9/5): Thank you to the hosts at Birdsong farm for a wonderful experience. Will definitely recommend this stay to anyone intere - Away from any hustle and bustle, just listening to the sounds of wildlife. Being greeted by the farm animals, special mention to Mr Banks the farm dog. Rustic style cottage Leaving the property
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Superb location, quiet with morning and evening birdcall a treat. Great and easy access to national parks and coastal areas.
- Natasha (5/5): Passable - The open fire, nice and quiet, river is lovely, host was friendly Not enough kitchen facilities or utensils, considering 20mins plus from town,
Bed was uncomfortable (others may feel it was perfect though)
- Jennie (6/5): A rustic country farm cottage. - A quaint farm cottage in a beautiful location.. Lots of seating options, inside and out. Big, comfy bed.
Due to family issues we could only stay one of the three nights booked. So we didn't get to fully experience all the property had to offer.
Hosts were easy to contact. The lighting in the bathroom is very poor and potentially dangerous with a small step into the bathroom.
Some of the furnishings are a little tired.
Cottage is probably more suited to younger couples.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): Warm and relaxing in beautiful farm location near the river - Very relaxed and comfortable. everything we could need. nothing
- Philip (8/5): A chic appointent cottage - Slight upgrade to bathroom. Needs handles to get in and out of bath
- Jonelle (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely, very spacious, self contained dwelling. I loved the variety of seating spots to laze around; two day beds, big couches, two outdoor seating areas; indoor and outdoor fireplaces. The 4-poster bed was warm and intimate.
Onsite, the river was in good flow and looking very clear and inviting, although a bit too crisp for comfortable submergence at this time of year.
Conveniently located about 20 mins drive from both rural Dorrigo and hippy Bellingen along the picturesque Waterfall way.
