• Lauren (3/5): Disappointing, but in a good location. Belongs on air bnb not booking.com - Great location. Property was very dark and poorly ventilated. Photos are of the top floor apartment and so they are misleading. Blinds would not stay up so getting light in was difficult. Air con had not been used in some time and so dust went everywhere. Fan in bedroom was very noisy. No kettle or toaster despite tea being advertised as having tea/coffee facilities. One bath towel provided and it was well used with bleach stains on it and the hand towel. Room was dusty along the windows. I specifically booked a larger place so that if a friend decided to come up from Brighton to visit for a night, there was space. Appreciate that the property manager would want to know, but charging a fee to wash laundry for one extra person using the sofa bed (advertised in the listing as a two bed place) is steep, particularly considering the towels were old and well used, and the place has a washing machine so there would have been minimal extra cost/labour.

• Chair Bear (10/5): Wonderful flat in the heart of London - Very spacious for our travel needs when a typical hotel room wouldn’t work out for us with the amount of luggage we had from traveling to 3 different countries. Interior is very modern. Would definitely stay here again & highly recommend. It was perfect

• Becky (9/5): Lovely property - comfy beds - Spacious, 2 large bedrooms with a large open plan kitchen and living room. Very good communication from property, even managed to accommodate an early check in for us. Easy check-in. Lovely property - would stay again. The only downfall for us was that we found the property to be quite dark - at least 3 light switches didn't work properly. Also couldn't turn on the extractor fan in the bathroom when showering.

• Amel (2/5): Truly miserable. - Unfortunately, our experience with this apartment was very disappointing. The place was really dirty, and combined with several other negative impressions, it is difficult for me to write anything positive about our stay. The only positives I can point out are that the shower was fine, the balcony doors are of very good quality, and the triple-glazed windows block out all outside noise. The location itself is also not too bad. When we arrived in the evening by taxi, the first impression was already very bad. Right in front of the entrance to the building, there were many broken glass bottles on the ground. It seems that there is a bar nearby, and people gather around the entrance of the building at night, which gives a very unpleasant feeling. The hallway leading to the apartment was dark, poorly lit, and very dirty. On the floor there was a lot of hair and dust, which immediately created the impression of poor maintenance. Unfortunately, the apartment itself was not much better. It was very dark and poorly lit, and we even found a hole in the main door where the lock should be – meaning someone could literally look into the apartment. Cleanliness was a serious issue. The floor was dirty, with hair and bread crumbs under the table. We even saw the cleaning lady of the building, who didn’t use a vacuum cleaner, but only a cloth to push the dirt around. The bedding was not white, but gray and green, which shows it is not washed at high temperatures. The same goes for the towels in the bathroom, which did not feel hygienic at all. The worst part, however, was the air conditioning unit. It was broken and made a terrifyingly loud noise every few minutes – like someone hammering concrete above your head. On the first night, the noise came 3–4 times per night, but on the second and third nights it happened every few minutes, making it absolutely impossible to sleep. This was especially difficult for us since we were traveling with two children (ages 4 and 6) who were exhausted after walking more than 25 km per day to see the main sights of London. We were all extremely tired, but the terrible noise made resting impossible. On top of that, the air conditioning unit was very dirty, clearly never serviced, full of mold, and potentially dangerous for health. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience and made our stay at Sleepy Joes apartments truly miserable.
• Brian (5/5): Washer and dryer was useful, but not worth the price - Air conditioning worked well. Everything was pretty clean. The bed was comfortable. The washer and dryer were very useful, which was the main reason we booked this stay. Location was pretty quiet for the most part. Very close to a Tesco Express, which was convenient. The check-in process was complicated. We didn't have the booking.com app downloaded so we weren't notified that the host was sending us messages. Booking.com only forwarded some of the messages to our email, and not all of them. Make sure to check the messages directly on booking.com OR download the app beforehand for full instructions. The apartment was fine, but had a few areas that were clearly previously broken or had not been fully repaired. The door handle to the bathroom fell off and was very loose. There was a hole in the wall that had been patched but not painted over. Lastly, there is a hole in the door right underneath the lock that you can look directly into the apartment from the lobb,y which made us feel unsafe. You could have put a wire hanger into the hole and jimmied the handle if you really wanted to. Obviously, you would need the lobby code, but we did not like that there was a literal hole in the door.

• alexia (9/5): Super, on reviendra ! - Super appartement, élégant et sobre, bien équipé. On y a très bien dormi :) L'emplacement parfait pour sortir : métro a 5min et en 3 arrêt on est a Kings Cross. Et a 3min a pied il y a de quoi se faire un super petit dej au Breakfast club La climatisation hyper bruyante, un claquement répétitif que l'on entendait même dans les autres pièces de l'appartement ! Pour dormir c'est pas idéal. L'isolation, mais ça c'est commun a Londres en général, il ne faut pas être surpris d'entendre les voisins comme s'ils étaient dans la pièce (ça devient gênant quand ca ne fait que roter a côté m...) 😅

• Guest (6/5): Fine but probably wouldn’t book again - Perfect location for our town hall wedding in Islington We had a few disappointing issues during our stay. There were ants coming from the bathroom sliding door and also near the bin, which we couldn’t seem to get rid of. The air conditioning unit made a loud noise every 15 minutes throughout the night, and it also leaked onto my pillow — leaving me with a soaking wet pillow to sleep on the night of my wedding. Considering we paid £510, we sadly don’t feel the stay was worth the cost, and we wouldn’t choose to stay again

We had a problem with the door not accepting the access codes, despite trying the correct code several times. A small milk, some tea bags, salt and pepper, oil or butter would make the kitchen better for making your own food in.
• Claire (8/5): Comfortable stay overall in a great spot - The property is a large private apartment and was in a great location. Very comfortable bed and couch, great balcony, coffee machine, washer dryer. We enjoyed our stay! A couple of maintenance issues, the sink in the bathroom was poorly draining and the doors hinges had fell off. Oddly it had a complete set of plates and cups etc, but no cutlery anywhere to be found

• Michelle (8/5): Comfortable and well situated stay with 5 star customer service. - The roof terrace was lovely and generally the flat was kitted out well for a short stay. Air conditioning was a god send as it was 27 degree heat the weekend we visited London. One of the beds had a very comfortable mattress and the other 2 were ok too. Hannah was brilliant and answered our queries on our arrival in lightening fast speed through the booking.com message board. Hannah also called us to make sure we had understood her written response - this all occurred outside of normal business hours so felt like 5 star service to us. The style of the apartment meant that it was very dark once you were away from the windows and some of the light switches were difficult to work as they were broken which added to this issue for us. I appreciate this is a recognised modern style, but our aging eyes struggled a bit. That said, the lighting in the bathroom was good.

• thomasina (5/5): Unsleepys - The location was a few minutes' walk to Old Street Tube, 15 minute walk to shoreditch, bricklane. The room was stylishly decorated, but unfortunately not very practical for our needs. It was very dark, with limited lighting that made it difficult to get ready for an evening out. The only mirrors, one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom, were tinted, which made applying makeup or doing hair even harder. The bed consisted of two singles pushed together, and the bedding felt worn with bobbling and holes in the bottom sheets. I requested fresh sheets, but this wasn’t addressed during our stay. We also noticed there was no cutlery provided, so we had to improvise when making tea. While we tried to make the best of it, the lack of functionality in the room was apparent from the start and left us disappointed overall.

Es gab keinen Spiegel mit ordentlichem Lichtverhältnissen. Ich habe schon um 6 Uhr morgens die Nachricht bekommen, dass ich meinen Aufenthalt bewerten soll. Da kommt man sich etwas rausgeschmissen vor.

• Elizabeth (7/5): - Aesethically lovely Way too dark! The lighting was moody but the mirrors were all Smokey and you couldn’t see a thing! I went out to meet friends and I couldn’t see myself to put on makeup or barely see what o was wearing. If there was an option to turn the brightness up or just proper lighting in the bathroom at minimum. Honestly was terrible because of this.
• Chloe (9/5): Comfortable, Sleepy and Central - We stayed 4 nights in the deluxe apartment at Sleepy Joe’s and it was spacious, stylish and very comfortable. The bed was definitely a highlight and the shower was also really good. It’s also centrally located within 2 mins walk to Sainsbury’s, 5 min walk to Old street station and high street and also 10 mins from Brick Lane. Not a criticism, but I definitely understand why people have commented about the darkness of the apartment. It’s definitely not conducive to doing your makeup, but also it’s sort of implied in the name and well, that’s the vibe - It’s moody and great for sleep!

• elainea (10/5): Hackney had such an eclectic, indie, modern vibe that we really enjoyed. Cool pubs, hip bars, local restaurants with div - Sleek and cozy, modern amenities, luxe shower, major plus being able to do a small load of laundry if needed, need to bring your own soap. The location was perfectly convenient for our walks to Tower bridge and the Thames. The property was near perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would absolutely book again when in London. Add some napkins for kitchen :)

• Sabrine (10/5): Beautiful apartment! - They allowed us to check in early and have an extra hour at check out, which was really nice. Very spacious, two terraces, one of which is very big and nice. The location is great, near the tube and multiple buses and food options. Three tv's, and airconditioning in both bedrooms. (But not in the living room.) We'll definitely come back! Small things were broken; a couple of light switches, the ironing board, the elevator didn't work one of the nights, and the couch isn't particularly comfortable. Having a dishwasher would be nice for longer stays, but it didn't bother us. Those are small things, though.

• Lucile (9/5): Penthouse design de rêve à Shoreditch - Le penthouse et le roof top sont fantastiques. Calme absolu. Il n'y a pas 3 chambres mais 2 donc idéal pour 4 personnes, ce qui fait cher la nuit malgré la beauté de la déco interieure. Quartier super sympa pour mes filles de 17 et 20 ans. Comme le check-in a été compliqué j'ai pu laisser mes valises dans l'appart après le Check out . Sinon il faut demander des lockers un jour à l'avance. Je recommande malgré tout . La TV ne marchait pas, terrasse pas entretenue , Check-in compliqué avec 1h30 de retard, pas évident de joindre le staff un dimanche, code porte de l'immeuble très capricieux.

• Melanie (8/5): Great value for money, stylish, clean and spacious - Very nice, clean and stylish apartment. The apartment was comfortable and in a great location. The air con was perfect everything was working well. Loved it! Way too dark and no mirrors, getting ready is nearly impossible. Didn’t get access to the wifi, they take long to respond but not a major issue

• M walker (10/5): Great location with roomy penthouse & large balcony - Location was great, managed to get parking at the Holiday Inn (Your Parking Space App). Airconditioning was most welcome, it was also great to have access to the balconies - The penthouse has them front and rear so you can choose sun or shade. Very spacious sitting room with comfy sofa. The lift was a bonus. Ensuite bathroom door a little stiff and kitchen missing a beer bottle opener but overall its a great place to stay
• Leah Leong (7/5): Great location, nice owners but too dark inside - Location was fantastic!! Walked everywhere and it was very quiet. Lots of good restaurants nearby and walkable to tube station. Bed was pretty comfy and they made up the couch for my son. Loved the lockers downstairs for our luggage on day of checkout. The owner was super nice and very responsive! Way too dark! Could not see anything. If you are female, beware! If you are trying to do your hair or makeup….forget about it. No hair dryer outlet in the bathroom. I got ready on the floor in the bedroom next to a window for an outlet and some light. And there aren’t any rugs so it was definitely not ideal for my bottom. No curtains on the windows so it was VERY bright at night for sleeping and in the morning. For being “sleepy” joes, it wasn’t very sleep friendly. No hooks for towels in the bathroom, no paper towels, hand soap or mugs in the kitchen and the AC was only in the bedroom so it was pretty hot.

• Guest (8/5): Roomy apartment in good location - Beds were very comfy, spacious apartment with good facilities. The lighting was quite dark - particularly in the bathroom and the air con, although working fine, was quite noisy.

• Jane (9/5): Friends weekend away - It was lovely for us a group of 55 year old friends. Beautifully quiet near hoxton square but 3 mins walk to be in the thick of old street. Just lovely . Lovely touch with the nexpresso and pods Little things. Lack of sockets in the kitchen. Only one full length mirror which was smoked and quite dark everywhere. So getting ready was a bit challenging but these are small things. Also air conditioning unit from upstairs on the balcony was dripping

• Sabine (8/5): Ein schöner Aufenthalt in London - Die Lage ist ganz nah an der UBahn Old Street. Ein Supermarkt ist direkt an der Straßenecke. Die Wohnung ist groß und im Industrial Style eingerichtet - das hat uns gut gefallen. Das Bett war sehr weich - aber im Gegensatz zu den oft sehr harten Betten, hatten wir damit keine Probleme und haben sehr gut geschlafen. 2 große Fernseher mit Netflix ect. gab es auch. Haben wir nicht genutzt aber trotzdem schön wenn man bei Regen mal mehr drin ist. Die Gastgeberin Hannah war super freundlich, sofort erreichbar und hat unserem Wunsch 2 Std . später aufschrecken zu dürfen, großzügig gestattet ! Vielen Dank dafür :-) Die Klimaanlage im Schlafzimmer hat nach dem ausschalten noch 5 Stunden lang alle 10 min ein lautes Geräusch gemacht. Da stimmt was nicht. Und ein bissl sauberer hätten die Ecken/ Boden, Handtuchhalter im Bad und das Geschirr sein können.

• Floris (9/5): Supermooi modern appartement met heerlijke bedden, groot terras voor een goed prijs/kwaliteit! - Het appartement is een lust voor het oog, enorm ruim, modern, sfeervol (houten wanden) en de slaapkamers zijn voorzien van super goede/fijne bedden en ruime kasten, mooie badkamer met goede douche, ruime woonkamer/open keuken en het appartement heeft een heel ruim terras! De woonkamer grenst aan een kleiner balkon en de schuifpui kon goed open gezet. Op het terras is een grote tafel met iets van 6 stoelen en enkele ligbedden. We gaan dit appartement zeker nog eens boeken bij een volgend bezoek aan Londen/ Clerckenwell area. Het was heel erg warm in het gebouw en het appartement was ook heel erg warm toen we aankwamen. De airco's in de slaapkamer waren lastig in te stellen en het duurde vrij lang voordat de kamer een beetje koel was, eenmaal koel ging het prima maar de rest van het appartement bleef erg warm zo was er geen airco in de woonkamer (waar een slaapbank staat) dus dat was even wat minder. Nu was het die ene week dat wij er waren extreem warm weer dus mogelijk dat dit uitzonderlijk is. Vandaar de 9 en geen 10 score.
• Zsófia (9/5): Tágas lakás! - A londoni méretekhez képest hatalmas, tágas, 40-50 négyzetméteres apartman! Szuperül van felújítva, teljesen tiszta és nagyon kényelmes az ágy. A közlekedés is szuper volt. Az internet nem működött a lakásban, de jelzésünkre másnapra sikerült megoldani a szállásadónak.
• Anna (9/5): Spacious city apartment - Very spacious and clean apartment. It’s located close to various bus stops and old steter station. A supermarket is close by as well. The communication with Hannah was easy and we could store our luggage even on the day we checked out.

Luckily there is airco in the bedroom and the windows can open, but it still felt warm. Furthermore there where some small things missing in the kitchen like a cutting board. Also had a hard time getting in contact with the staff when the coffee cups ran out and the shower couldn’t get hot.

• Guest (7/5): Very clean apartment in a great location for moving around London. - Very clean, great location, amenities very close, no traffic noise, nice to have the dim lighting in the evening A few instructions about using the facilities would have been helpful - shower controls, air conditioning. The lounge would have been more comfortable/useful with a coffee table. Coffee was provided, but no tea, so had to purchase a large box of teabags from nearby grocery store. Kitchen could use paper towels, and whole flat could use some optional brighter lighting. The toilet flush was way too strong and shot a lot of water outside the bowl.

London is expensive but at this price was expecting better maintenance and less "design over practicaility": apt is very hot inside so had to sleep with airco full night (26 degrees if no airco), window in bedroom can baraly be opened as blocked by a wooden store, living room can't be closed completely as can't fit in frame any longer, living room airco unit right above your head (for those who watched "Final destination..."), airco ext unit blowing at your back when sitting on terrace etc. Last but not least - plastic coffee cups:) Took more pictures but booking limits to 4.
• Elza (7/5): Good size flat for a short stay. - The location was good, not far from the train / tube stations, and the flat was a good size ,with washer/dryer combo which was very helpful! Lighting is not good at all , I hope they can address this problem ,as well as the AC noise , which kept awakening us during the night. The cleaning needs some improvement, ants in the bathroom and on the sofa, spider by the bed. It was also difficult to find the kitchen utensils, so I had to buy some. The lady in charge of the flat had to send me a picture of the drawer which was concealed inside one of the big drawers. She was responsive and tried to help me. Towels needs an upgrade , they give us just 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel. No Kitchen paper towel as well .

• Kevin Dennis (10/5): Would stay here again. Good location and reasonably priced. - The room was modern and very clean. Location was only a 6 minute walk from the Underground. Lots of great restaurants within a 20 minute walking radius. This area was very quiet at night (no pubs in the immediate area). Communication for needing to use the pull-out couch for additional sleeping wasn't good. Expected to have bedding for this available in the room when we arrived.

• Agnès (8/5): Tres bien - Arrivée autonome avec box pour les bagages avanr le check in et après le check out. Lits tres confortables king size. Salle de douche moderne. Isolation optimale des fenêtres. Pas tres lumineux (appartement du 1er etage).
• Michael (4/5): Schönes Appartement, allerdings mit gröberen Mängeln (siehe Beschreibung) - Recht gute Lage nahe der U-Bahn. Sichere Gegend, ruhig. Sehr schönes großes Appartement. Der Check-in war erst um 19h möglich, da angeblich "so viel zu tun war"! Dafür haben wir eine Preisreduktion von ein paar Euro bekommen, was lächerlich war. Beim Beziehen des Zimmer mussten wir verschmutze Leintücher reklamieren, was noch am selben Tag behoben wurde. Dann fiel uns auf, dass für 2 Personen und 4 Nächte insgesamt ein großes und ein kleines Handtuch vorhanden waren. Diesmal dauerte es 1 Tag, bis das erledigt wurde. Insgesamt waren zumindest 5 Telefonate nötig, um alles zur Zufriedenheit zu lösen. Sehr schade, denn das Appartement ist eigentlich schön und empfehlenswert, das Management (obwohl sehr freundlich) allerdings nicht!
• John (10/5): Good location with easy Underground access to all parts of London. - We stayed in a one-bedroom sofa bed unit facing Pitfield Street. Plenty of room. Decent bed. Good location just east of The City and near Liverpool Street Station. Old Street Underground 5 min from front door. Good local pubs. Markets nearby, would stay again.

• Libby (8/5): Roomy apartment in a great location for visiting London. - The apartment was spacious and beds were comfortable. It was as pictured online. The location was near a tube station and there were several local coffee shops, restaurants and parks close. Hannah was very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. Check in was easy and instructions were easy to follow. Lighting throughout was very dim which made getting ready a little difficult. Towels were provided but only 1 small washcloth was provided and was intended for use in the kitchen. The air conditioning in the bedroom worked well, but the living space stayed very warm at night. A standing fan was provided and helped some, but the guest sleeping in that area was a little uncomfortable.

• Mary (7/5): This property could be wonderful, but it's to darkand a bit mean on pillows and towels or any extra - Location was good. Size was good. No proper mirror that you could actually see yourself in. No teabags. Very dark. Though they did bring another light in to make the room lighter.

The bed in the room is not an actual bed, it’s more like sofa bed type which cannot support your back properly. The apartment is very warm even in spring. The living room doesn’t have an aircond. The toilet door is ridiculous as it’s without handle. It’s difficult to properly open and close it. We stayed 4 nights and no cleaning. We need to ask the housekeeper to throw the rubbish as it’s getting smelly. You need to request for towels as well.
• frédérique (10/5): Très bel appartement super décoré , bel endroit pour visite de Londres - L appartement est très bien décoré et sa situation est proche d une station de métro pour voyager dans Londres Certes l appartement est bien décoré mais il y manque par exemple un tabouret ( il n y’a en que 3 et nous étions 4 ) pour manger a table . La cuisine propse un matériel incroyable mais il manque de tasses , d assiettes pour la petite quotidien

• Gideon (8/5): Stylish but missing a couple of practical touches. - Stylish and well located for Shoreditch / working in the city Host couldn’t provide more than one pillow per person, which made us both uncomfortable - a shame as that would have been easily resolved and every other place I’ve ever stayed provides 2 per guest. Also, the bathroom lighting is too low to shave / do makeup. It looks stylish but is actually quite impractical.
• Ahmed (10/5): Excellent - The location was good and the apartment was well furnished. The lightening needs work. It seems very dark and the light didn’t do much about it.
• Belen (8/5): - Un apartamento muy cómodo y espacioso en una zona tranquila, sin ruido, pero con vida y locales para comer o comprar. A un minuto de la estación de metro old street. Check in apertura de puertas muy fácil. En general todo estaba bien, solo muchísimo calor en la habitación aunque se podía abrir la puerta de la terraza o poner el aire acondicionado. Al salir al pasillo era una sauna! Faltaba un poco de luz en el espejo del baño

• Linda (6/5): - Die Unterkunft liegt relativ zentral. Bus und U-Bahn sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Bis ins Zentrum benötigt man ca 20-30 Minuten. Leider war das Appartment zur Eincheck Zeit noch komplett dreckig vom Vorgänger. Zwar wurde relativ schnell jemand zur Reinigung geschickt, jedoch konnten wir das Appartement dann erst ab 17 Uhr nutzen. 100% sauber war es nicht. Wir waren nur drei Tage da und den ganzen Tag außer Haus, von daher war es ok. Aufgrund der vorherigen äußerst positiven Bewertungen, wurden unsere Erwartungen jedoch nicht erfüllt.
