Vance (9/5): A comfy stay. A home away from home - Room is large and comfy for the price. Staff are friendly and treat guests like family. Location is relatively convenient. Bus routes go into the city center. However, to access the MRT (metro) stations, require to take the bus to get to the stations. Right next door is a large supermarket (NTUC), so groceries are easy to get. Room has a large fridge Issues with some other guests cooking heavy duty food (such as curries or spicy foods), left an aroma in the air around the common areas. This is not a problem with the property, more about other guests

Siak Lee (8/5): - Then staffs are very friendly and helpful, hotel room rates are also reasonable, Good location, the hotel was clean, I like the environment of the room. It is very suitable for long trips and the environment is very comfortable, I have stayed in so many hotels in Singapore, and the bathrooms are all pitifully small. This is the only hotel I have seen that has a spacious bathroom. There is no subway near the hotel. You need to go to Novena to get to the subway. Although the bathroom is spacious, I still dislike the bathroom problem the most. The drain pipe in the shower room is blocked. When taking a shower, the water is drained very slowly and there is water accumulation. Moreover, the dirty water in the drain pipe flows back and the dirt flows up. The drain pipe is also very smelly. The lights in the bathroom are not bright enough, and one light is burnt out. There is no mirror on the dressing table in the master bedroom. The sound insulation is also very poor. If someone in the next room closes the door and pulls a chair, they will be woken up.

The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that made the space relaxing and inviting. Every interaction with the team — from reception to housekeeping to the cafe staff — was met with kindness and professionalism. If you're looking for a place in Singapore that offers both comfort and heartfelt service, I highly recommend The Initial Residence Inn. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Maxene (8/5): Great stay for a long stay in Singapore. Accessible, easy and affordable. - Had a great time staying at the Initial Residence. Great location because there's a lot of great places nearby that you can easily walk to. Connectivity by walking is not so bad, however it is quite far from the MRT Station. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. The staff was a bit of a mixed bag. Some are really great and really helpful and some not as helpful as the others. It's fine though, not a huge deal. You just need to be more specific on housekeeping etc.
Fujiko (9/5): Great! - Great location! Immediate access to bus station, shopping center in front with good supermarket. I stayed for 12 days, and the hotel had mini kitchen and nice, large freg and washing machine, so it was really great! The area was super safe with good selection of restaurants. On the second floor of the hotel was a very nice workspace, but my room was super comfortable with great view, so I didn't use the workspace. It was 20 to 30 min bus ride to downtown, so that was great too! Next time I am in Singapore, I will definitely want to stay at the Initial Residence! I wasn't sure when they were going to do housekeeping, sheets change and stuff.

Verified traveler (10/5): Séjour de 6 nuits à deux personnes - Séjour de 6 nuits à deux personnes dans cet hôtel. La chambre et spacieuse, et la salle de bain très grande. Nous n'avons pas utilisé le coin cuisine, mais tout semblait être fonctionnel et à sa place. Le frigo est très grand pour ce type de chambre et pas trop bruyant. La climatisation est bruyante, nous l'utilisions en journée lorsque nous n'étions pas dans la chambre pour la refroidir. Nous n'utilisons pas la clim pendant la nuit. La chambre se réchauffait petit à petit pendant la nuit, mais pas au point de devenir désagréable. Les arrêts de bus ne sont pas loin de l'hôtel ce qui permet de rayonner sur tout Singapour en utilisant les transports en commun.

Helen (8/5): A comfortable, value for money apartment - The room was clean, comfortable and well maintained. There was a large fridge freezer and the washing machine was a good addition. The staff were very helpful and booked taxis when needed. The location was about a twenty minute walk to the MRT, but there was a bus stop two minutes walk from the property and regular buses ran to the MRT, so the location wasn’t really a problem.

The facilities are really breaking down either due to age or poor maintenance. In my short stay I experienced a few equipment failures. Eileen (8/5): Very good - The front desk staff by the name of Luna (not sure if I spelled correctly), she was extremely helpful and nice. I made a request to change rooms as I did not find the room that I checked into was what I expected. Luna was kind to assist me with this. And also as we have a late flight back, she checked and allowed us to have a later checkout time. She made our stay very pleasant, thank you Luna! One issue I had with the room is there's ants crawling all over, every part of the room.. even in the wardrobe and surprisingly into my wet wipes too. The housekeeping part is also quite disappointing, as they seemed to be rushing through the whole process... And it's not thoroughly cleaned at all.

We booked the 4 person room, and it came with a small kitchette and a fridge, and washing machine which was super handy. The location was also good. I would stay there again. There was no breakfast provided, which isn't that big of an issue. You also need to inform the help desk specifically that you need housekeeping. This isn't a bad thing necessarily, just good to know beforehand.

Helena (7/5): Good - It’s conveniently located and surrounded by many eateries, cafe and groceries, not far to get to Novena and Bugis MRT by bus The bed in my room is sunken in so it’s difficult to get a good night sleep and always woke up in the morning with back pain, other then that the sound proof of the building is also not good, we always can hear ppl talking outside the door and the moving sounds of furniture from upstairs.

Staff are very nice, helpful and polite. The dryer does not dry clothes properly. Clothes were still very damp even after 2 hours of drying.

Parijat (9/5): Loved it, will come back soon ! - Excellent choice for slightly long term stay in Singapore. Clean, comfortable and has basic cooking facilities as well as laundy in room. Fairly well connected via buses and friendly staff - Kali, Ken and Luna were all very helpful ! At times the airconditioning got a bit too cold for comfort min setting is 24C and perhaps a larger window would have been nice.
Jordan (9/5): Clean, well connected and comfortable stay - The room and property in general were very clean and looked well maintained. The location was excellent with the shopping plaza only across the road with a supermarket and food options to eat out in. It was also close to bus stops and a short 15 minute walk to an MRT station. The staff were super friendly, especially one member of staff on the desk at night who helped us out with acquiring a hairdryer and frying pan we were missing. We were missing a couple of items from the room but this was resolved very easily.
See (5/5): Disappointed. Will we stay here again? Maybe. - Good location; pleasant and helpful staff, much handicapped by the situation (management?). Spacious apartment, good bathroom with shower cubicle that can shut tight so water does not splash out. Washing detergent for the washing machine is provided. We recently stayed eight nights. Kitchen equipment and utensils provided are minimal and pathetic. No tea or coffee bags are provided; no bread toaster; no teaspoons; no fry pan; no basket strainer in kitchen basin; dish washing liquid is provided but no wash sponge is not provided. When asked, the staff are unable to provide all these items. They are generous with providing bottled drinking water though. There is one medium sized pot, one big blunt knife, and only two cups. Iron and ironing board not provided. The air conditioning units provided are probably oversized and impossible to adjust and they seem to be either too warm or too cold with the fan, even if set on low, blowing into your face. Dining table chairs have metal legs that are not capped. They make very loud scraping sounds against the tiled floor, when moved. So is there are people upstairs constantly shifting their chairs in the middle of the night, it will be a nightmare. No matter how gentle you try to be, the main door of the apartment closes with a loud bang when you leave. There are always those annoying little drain flies that seem to emerge from the drainage vents on the floor of the bathroom and kitchen. Their presence seem to suggest a partially blocked sewerage pipe.

Margarita (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean and comfortable property The main problem was with the photo and description of the rooms. It was critical for me to have a desk, and I found the room with the desk in the description, but it was not true for the first room. The manager was very polite and changed our room after two nights to bigger and with the desk.
Yong (10/5): Exceptional - Just opposite the shopping mall call shaw plaza and walk 8 more mins there is a another shopping mall call ZhongShan Mall. Walk 10 mins there is a large famous market and food stalls call Whampao food centre. Bus stop just infront of hotel, fruits stall, restaurants, 7 Evelyn and etc just surrounding the hotel.
Mei (8/5): It was a pleasant stay and the staffs are nice. - the mall was right opposite and the bus stop was right across or down the street. which makes things convenient. and there is a 24 hours food market as well. The chairs in the property should be changed or fixed. as when others are pulling or pushing the chairs in other rooms, the noise was really loud and annoying as some of them are still active middle of the night while we were asleep. just a plastic tag/putty can be easily installed to the legs of the chairs to avoid this.
Jessa (9/5): Would definitely come back here again - Second time here and didn’t disappoint. Friendly staff and comfortable space. I could actually sleep feeling cozy!! Needs better ventilation. Felt a bit damp at times and bit of mould on the bathroom but overall we felt very satisfied with the price and everything else.

Ronald (8/5): Price, location, and staff make this a great place to stay. - This is such a great location to stay with the family. Right across the street was a mall that had many restaurants and a grocery store. The grocery store has everything you could need for the family, especially if you have little ones. The public transportation is right next to the hotel and you can get just about anywhere using the buses. Our boys loved riding the double decker buses. Staff was very friendly and helpful. At the end of the stay we had accidentally left one of our suitcases, and the staff saved the day by collecting it and sending it to us at the airport before our flight left. We will definitely stay here again. We were in a two bedroom on the 3rd floor and the room is cramped (we have a family of 5). But it was exactly as advertised so we can't complain, it's just helpful to know what you are getting in to. There is a playground at the mall across the street, so when the kids were getting little stir crazy we just took 30 minutes to go over there an let them run around.
Pranav (8/5): Comfortable family stay - Pros: ————- 1. Good and clean hotel. 2. Has everything you need for a short stay including small kitchen and a fully automatic washing machine. 3. Good internet in all rooms. 4. A restaurant is very conveniently located for which you can order right from your room. The Chef John takes special requests too for kids. 5. Helpful staff. 6. Located right opposite to Shaw Plaza mall. 7. Excellent connection to bus. Cons: ———- 1. Connectivity to nearest MRT station “Novena” is 15mins of walk. 2. We stayed in a family room, which was cozy, but felt little congested. 3. There is no frying pan in the room, hope they keep on for guests to use. 4. TV channel has only 4-5 channels and shows for kids hardly come on TV.

Lee (10/5): Excellent accommodation and service! - A truly wonderful, central place to stay whilst exploring Singapore. Location is excellent with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, with a bus stop and taxi rank directly outside. On a main road but still quiet in the apartments. 15 minute walk to Novena MRT which wasn't a problem for us, a lot of the walk is under cover. The rooms themselves were very clean, comfortable and a generous size for central Singapore. The kitchenette was well outfitted so we could make simple meals and heat up leftovers, and there is a washer dryer in the bathroom. Plenty of storage space as well. What really made the stay extra special was the staff - really helpful and friendly, quickly responding to any requests from extra towels to booking a taxi to the airport. Thoroughly excellent service. Overall a little gem of a place - would definitely recommend. Nothing! Only recommendation would be a clothes rack to dry laundry and a mirror in the bedroom/living room.

Location was very important for us, and that of Initial did not disappoint. We are returning for a further period on 14 February. We have stayed in Initial several times before and have noted that the rugs/mats provided are not pretty worn and uninspiring. Suggest that some replacements are required.

Kelly (9/5): Good location and staff, but may not be the best for MRT - Location was good. There was a plaza across the street (Shaw Plaza) which had a Fair Price (Supermarket), Watsons, and several restaurants (Ya Kun Toast, Burger King, Japanese, Chinese, etc). It is also walking distance from two hawker centers (Balestier Market and Whampoa Food Centre), two 7-11s, and several Bak kut teh restaurants (and others) if you wanted to try. The 2 bedroom I booked had enough space for three people and it was good because I didn't hear my dad's snores from the other room :). We enjoyed using the fridge to store our leftovers and drinks for our stay. The staff was helpful in resolving my credit card issue and allowing me to do an early check in (since the previous guest left early). Like others mentioned, the closest MRT station was 20 minutes away (Novena station). I was planning to use the MRT, but I ended up using Grab (Singapore's Uber) for convenience so it ended up not being an issue for me. However, if you were planning to solely use MRT to get around, this place may not be the best location for that. To note, they had buses nearby so that could be an alternative. The drying machine took a while for our clothes to dry but I'm not sure if it's the machine itself or due to Singapore's humidity. We ended up drying our clothes by the A/C.

Smart TV has no available cable or included cable (but can cast or use DeX from phone though). room rate could have been lower. the dryer in our room can't dry clothes (2 hours of drying still wet).

Jenis (8/5): Second time and still a great stay. - I liked the location and its convenience to shops/supermarkets, eateries, transport (buses and taxis), public and private hospitals and movie theatres. Although the Novena train station was approximately 20mins walk from the apartment, it was still a good way to keep fit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Travel to the airport was easy with a taxi stand in front of the building. The reception staff were most friendly and the housekeepers were polite. No city view.

Sue (5/5): A place to sleep, not to relax in. A more affordable option. - The cafe was good, friendly staff and good coffee. Proximity to most places by taxi was good. Front desk and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. These are no so much criticisms but things that could be improved. Overall we had an enjoyable stay. Housekeeping never came although we were told they would be every second day. Our room was very wet smelling due to a leaking pipe from inadequate plumbing under the bathroom sink. We had thrown dirty clothes and towels under there and everything got soaked from a leaking pipe. This pipe also caused water on the floor around the toilet and bin. The kitchen had an ant problem. We had to store all food items in the fridge so ants would not get in to our food. They were in cupboards, on bench tops and would find any food or crumb anywhere in the apartment. The plates/cutlery etc provided were just adequate (no teaspoons)No provisions for children like non breakable plate/cup. No basic supplies, no frypan or small cooking pots, only 1 saucepan. No coffee maker, No wine glasses. No bowls/colander/serving plates etc if you are planning on making your own meals. There was a huge list of breakage costs listed for our room which was very off putting and made us feel like we couldn't use anything in case we accidentally broke it and had to pay for it. The washing machine needs cleaning also as it left dark fibres all over our clean clothes after drying. Also, many countries are not used to cigarette smoke in public anymore. Having staff smoking on a break at the front door is horrible. Checking also that litter is picked up daily from the front entrance to the hotel would make waiting for a taxi/Grab ride a lot more enjoyable.

A bit dusty in the room, even after HSK cleaning. Needs some improvement for room cleanliness Maybe can add small frying pan, some wine glass, and drinking glasses perhaps in the unit.

Jenis (9/5): Superb - Staff are ever so friendly and helpful to serve. After 90 minutes of check-in, my husband realised he had left his notebook at the back of taxi. Reception staff, Aby swung into action, tracked down the taxi company from the video footage and contacted the driver. The notebook was finally returned safely. My husband and I stayed 10 nights and we always felt so supported and well-looked after. E.g. My husband called at a late hour for desk to ask for a forgotten wi-fi password. Within five minutes, he had a callback to check if everything was ok. Great amenities such as a Beko washer and dryer in-one, a terrific lounge we can fit 1 night of card game with a friend, a little gym and the excellent location with convenient access to food and public transport such as buses and taxis.
Zheyu (8/5): love the facilities and location, but it was noisy. - it’s clean and tidy, the staffs were friendly and the the location is fantastic, close to a lots of restaurants and a big hawker Center, it’s new and convenience. it’s a little bit noisy, I’m not sure if it’s the elevator or water heater or anything, it’s been noisy all night every night.

Plenty of stores closely for all basic stuff. Fantastic washer+ dryer. Good choice of cafes and restaurants. 1. Hot water control wasn't the best. You sometimes get too hot Water when the tap in the sink is used.
