Our room was a superior room located on the first floor, we understand that the room was renovated, but didn't think we would have to contact them and ask for a higher level. The minute we stepped out of the elevator all we could smell was cigarettes, and on our balcony. There is a NO smoking policy. Our room had no fly or security screens, so we hadcto keep the glass doors closed to keep the bugs out.the 3 fans may as well not have worked as they were so slow. Air conditioner did not go into the bedroom therefore the room was very hot. Would not like to be there in summer, as November was bad enough. The kitchen tap was loose,

We had a garden/pool view apartment which was peaceful and pleasant outlook from the patio. The fan in the bathroom/laundry room was not working (if there was one). This meant it did not air well and was a bit musty.

The traffic noise was very loud but I understand you can’t really do anything about that if you want to be so close to beach.

• Tracy (10/5): Excellent block overlooking beachfront park and beach in the background, with a wonderful pool - The location was fantastic, with a view over the beachfront gardens to the beach, and a fabulous pool that caught both the morning and late afternoon sun. I loved being walking distance to everything, and had shops and restaurants only 2 buildings away. Property and maintenance a little dated but that was more than compensated for in the cost and meant it was excellent value for money for the location.

• Adam (9/5): Brilliant location and views for a simple Broadbeach family stay. - Shares the best location in Broadbeach (there's a few unit blocks on the seafront near the mall which are all brilliant for location and views). Amazing views over the park to the beach, couple of minutes walk to the centre of Broadbeach or the beach. Units are individually owned which makes them all different but the one we got was all brand new inside and very comfortable. All the units seem to have beach views as there are no back units in this block. No other building blocks the view for any apartment. It's a basic block without games room, tennis courts, sauna or gym etc. but it does run to a nice pool and spa out the front. Staff are really nice. All the other blocks on the beachfront were way more expensive when we stayed. It's not cheap, but can be cheaper than the fancier blocks around it. Highly recommended, we'll be back. The balcony only just sits 3-4 people on the side units but it maximises inside space instead. If you want a more featured stay the place next door Beach Haven runs to multiple pools inside and out, spa, sauna, steam room, tennis courts and gym but it's way more expensive for the same location and view. If you don't need these extras then the Sandpiper is perfect.

The room I stayed in was old and daggy, not at all like the photos. Fluorescent lighting and faded blue artwork. No lock on the inside of the door and while you need a key to get in I did not feel safe. Also no coffee plunger.

I have stayed at other accommodation previously such as Meriton and Ultiqua Air. The location of Sandpiper was on par or better and the price was incredibly reasonable. Even though building was older there was no issues from cyclone Alfred. I did not lose power or internet. The building and apartment were slightly dated but I was expecting that due to the cheaper cost.
