Guest Reviews
- Kaylin (6/5): So much potential - The “staff” was super friendly and really easy to get into contact with. Getting into the apartment was really easy as the notes were really detailed. I felt like everything was “almost” good. The bed was fine, but worn (and you can feel it). The shower was ok, but the height adjustment was broken. The location was good, but someone previous smoked in the place so it smelled like an ashtray. It did not give an inviting feeling to me.
- Federico Antonino (8/5): -
- Guglielmo (10/5): - Our stay here was fantastic!
The apartment is really comfortable and has everything you need.
The neighbourhood is the nicest in the whole city, central and quiet.
Daphne is a truly wonderful and thoughtful host!
We can’t wait to come back
- Roberta (10/5): -
- Clinton (9/5): Enjoyable and fun - Full of natural light in the afternoon. Struggled to get big luggage upstairs
- Lucia (10/5): - It’s a lovely bright and cozy studio. Quiet spot near the city center, easy to find. Everything that you might need for the stay is at walking distance. 15 minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal
- JEAN (9/5): Top…! -

- Victoria (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at this charming little apartment! It’s bright and cozy, and the view of the Amsterdam rooftops is absolutely magical.
The host was very sweet and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The apartment itself is perfectly equipped.
Just a heads-up for future guests: the stairs are very steep and narrow (as is often the case in Amsterdam!), so it might be tricky with heavy suitcases or for anyone with mobility issues. However, that beautiful rooftop view completely makes up for the climb))
- Feray (10/5): -
- Paul (6/5): Very nice place but cold. - Nice view and room, felt like you were in amsterdam. Good bed and shower. Quiet neighborhood and had almost everything you’d want. Heating was almost none existent, woke up cold. Bit far from the train station, about 20min. Super steep stairs and lots of flights so avoid if you have large and heavy luggage.
- Christine (8/5): -
- Chris (7/5): Great in many ways - a few minor improvements needed - Location was fantastic - walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do
Local cafes great
Character room Stairs were very steep for carrying luggage up and down and especially for older people or anyone with mobility disability. One electric socket sparked when we used it for the TV and there was missing cult left and bowl.
- Hache (5/5): - Emplacement Prix. Pas beaucoup d équipement. Pas de réponse à mes courriel.
- Youssef (8/5): -
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Shannon (9/5): Lovely stay! - best neighbourhood in amsterdam!
- İDİL (8/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): - La ubicacion Desactualizado y algo descuidado el mantenimiento.
- Pave (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable and quiet place to stay in Amsterdam.
- Barut (1/5): Bad - The vendor doesnt answer your phone. We had to stay outside!
- Kristín (9/5): Superb -
- Wendy (9/5): We enjoyed our time at the Eelhouse, comfy, clean and in a good location. - Great location and a nice view from the apartment. Facilities were clean and the communication from Daphne was excellent. Location of the fridge was a bit pokey and difficult to access. Everything else was good.
- Gabrielle (10/5): Highly recommended stay. Hassle free and Daphne was wonderful. Great location and comfortable bed! - Great location in the Jordaan. Walkable to every sight we planned to see. Beautiful clean area. Lots of natural light and breeze through the windows. Very very comfortable bed. Daphne was a wonderful host and checked in throughout the stay. Check in and out process was hassle free. Steep Dutch stairs - but all part of the fun!
- Reeza (7/5): Cute stay and great location ( close to restaurants) but.. - Prime location. So close to many restaurant, cafes and stores. I like the mini bathroom. It was clean and the basic necessities like a small sink and dining table. The place and area is charming. The stairs are very narrow and steep. It was very hard to bring the luggage up to the 3rd floor. Beware if you cannot carry heavy things. The bedsheets were dirty. It was a good thing I brought a disposable bed sheet and pillow covers. Spiders on the walls. I wish the property manager /owner was more responsive. Although the location was great, this was far from the AMS central train station. It’s not a bad walk but if you don’t like to walk far or plan to walk there with your bags, don’t do it. Get an Uber or Lyft. It was close to the Anne Frank House and Van Gogh museum was easy to get to from here.
- Alun (8/5): Very good -
- Laxmisupriya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Your trouble-free city break needs fulfilled! - Clean and excellently furnished accommodation in a wonderful part of town! So easy to use, incredibly convenient, even a little fridge for our purchases. No hassle at all. Birds in the trees outside every morning a very welcome bonus! Nothing amiss at all!
- Ersilda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sapalya (10/5): Exceptional - Reasonable and had everything we needed.Cute and compact Stairs
- Katie (8/5): Very good - The room was a bit cold, and there were not many blankets.
- Paul (9/5): A perfect find for a beautiful stay - This is a really cute find. Great location. And very comfortable. Plenty of towels. A really clean and well kept bathroom. Lovely big bed. Amazing view of the local area, and convenient for most of the main attractions and night life. Host was very attentive and kept in touch regularly. Steep steps. Was a struggle getting luggage up quietly.
- Dullat (5/5): Average stay - Nice location
Big room
A 400 year old house Very tight staircase so if you are carrying big and heavy luggage then it will be a challenge to take them to the upper floor
Room heater was consistently turning off during the night time making the room cooler and it was uncomfortable (as the outside temperature was 2 degrees)
- Evan (10/5): I enjoyed my time in the studio and I would love to return. - Sunny, beautiful studio apartment in a lovely neighbourhood. Good food recommendations by the host. I found the stairs okay to use as I packed light, but I think some others may find them difficult.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at this studio! It is so cute and comfortable, we felt right at home, and the location is amazing. We walked everywhere we wanted to do, but was still a nice quiet and safe area. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
- Marina (10/5): highly recommended! - gorgeous neighborhood, lovely and communicative hosts, accommodations were charming, clean, and comfortable. 10/10!
- Lance (10/5): Exceptional - Great position. Very close walk to everything that I wanted to see. In the Jordaan district. The stairs were very narrow and it was 3 flights but if you are OK carrying your luggage it is not a problem.
- Donal (10/5): Beautiful little gem perfectly located - Location , it is perfectly situated in relation to the city centre , train station , restaurant's and bars .... perfect ! , our host was very pleasant to deal with , very responsive and extremely helpful , can't thank Daphne enough , we will definitely be back to stay here again in the not too distant future .
- Tony (8/5): Great apartment in the best part of Amsterdam -
- Adriana (9/5): Great place to stay in the heart of Amsterdam. - Great location and very comfortable studio. Host was super nice and helpful.
- Poh (9/5): Superb - Location was perfect; such a charming neighborhood. Host was incredibly flexible and allowed an early check-in. Lockbox was easy to find and entering was easy. Room matched the photos. Check-out was also smooth.
- Temelkovski (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (9/5): Superb - We absolutely loved the Eelhouse studio and would definitely recommend it to anyone. The location was so peaceful and the room was so light with lots of trees and beautiful houses to view.
- Scarlett (8/5): Very good -
- Elia (10/5): Exceptional - I really loved the position and the view
- Jordan (7/5): Great area, host was very quick to respond and it was very clean. - The property was in a safe area, near public transportation, and clean. Travel light and DO NOT BRING BIG SUITCASES. The stairs are very steep and very small.
- Gauci (8/5): Very good -
- Katie (10/5): A great flat to imagine you are Ernest Hemingway in. - Absolutely beautiful little flat in a very historic looking building, high up with a gorgeous view. Very comfortable and bright. Great location in a central area but also just on the edge of a more lively local neighbourhood feel, so it’s easy to feel like you live in Amsterdam staying here. Communicative host, who gave top recommendations. I’d not hesitate to stay there and pretend to write a novel again! Nothing. It’s full of character. Don’t pack a big suitcase or you may have an aneurism lifting it up the stairs. But stairs are good for you and contribute to long life so enjoy those stairs!
- William (10/5): Quaint and cozy Amsterdam - Location was great, easy walks to all the sights we wanted to visit. Lets say "cozy"; very compact but with panoramic views over the nearby park. Intensely steep staircase enhanced the authenticity, sometimes thought we'd made it but still had one floor to go! Heating failed at one stage and our hosts bought a little fan heater for us whilst they were getting the problems sorted. Lovely, they cared! The kitchen is very small. What do you expect in historic Amsterdam? Fuctional.
- Marc (8/5): Very good - Perfectly located flat with sufficient space and equipment. We would come back again The washbasin in the bathroom is so tiny, you can hardly wash your face
- Viorica (9/5): Superb - Difficult to use rhe microwave. Would be nice to have water bottles available ij the room.
- Menai (7/5): Pleasant and comfortable, location suited our needs. Value for money? Questionable. - Location, location, location was ideal for our needs. Lack of information as to how to set TV, no bedside lamps on BOTH sides of the bed, 2xpeoplex3nights-3 small shower sachets were not sufficient-sadly. Property not suitable for all. Luckily we are a fairly healthy couple in our 60's and we coped with the steep, narrow spiral staircase. These should/must be clearly advertised and stipulated in the information provided about the property.
- Kenyeh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (8/5): Very good -
- James (7/5): Good - The location was excellent. Nice ambience close to amenities. Very quiet, pretty neighbour. The bed was a good size and very comfortable Shower was recently renovated and quite pleasant. The narrow winding staircase was very difficult to negotiate with luggage, especially so as we were on the top floor. Kitchenette was very tiny and basic
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elvira (8/5): Would definately recommend with access caveat. - Light and airy studio with nice outlook. Basic kitchenette with small fridge and microwave. Good coffee maker. Comfortable bed. Steep, narrow, spiral staircase difficult to negotiate with luggage. Easier with backpack.
- Victoria (8/5): Very cute and comfortable apartment in a cool area of Amsterdam! Would stay again :) - The location was great, seemed like a very cool area. About 20 min walk to the Central station. The studio room is a good size. The host was very good at communication. Bathroom and shower were also a good size. The 'kitchen' sink area was very small, and things like plates/glasses were very basic/minimal. There was no air-conditioning or fan, but luckily it wasn't very hot during our stay. However, I think it would be uncomfortable for guests if there was not even a pedestal fan during hot weather. Our apartment was on the top floor (3rd floor) with very steep/narrow stairs (which is part of the Amsterdam experience!) but this would be good to keep in mind if you're a solo traveler with heavy luggage.
- Paul (5/5): Passable - Comfortable bed, good location. Reasonably spacious. Good communication. No air-conditioning, room was like a sauna on hot days, not even a fan.
Had to open windows all night to cool room but street noise was constant.
Had to take luggage up 3 flights of stairs which were dangerously steep and narrow. Not ideal for the elderly
Fridge and TV very small and dated.
Shower head needs fixing as was loose.
- Stephen (7/5): Good - good location and quite spacious was moved mid visit and wrong code for initial checkin
- Gaynor (7/5): Good -
- Amy (10/5): Excellent location. Super host - Location was excellent. Host was extremely helpful and always available via message to answer questions and provide recommendations throughout stay. Nothing at all. Only comment is that the property has a narrow, winding staircase although this was referenced in the pre-stay communication but just to highlight that heavy luggage not suitable :)
- Anderson (8/5): Excellent location , comfortable room to spend couple of days. In warm days can be very hot inside , but once the sun go - Excellent location NA
- Elyse (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - Loved this place.... The stairs would be hard to get up and down if you had a disability.
We had no issues but giving the heads up.
- Brittany (10/5): A quiet, warm, comfortable stay. - The bed was wonderfully comfortable with excellent pillows. The room was also very warm and quiet, which surprised us, as it is such an old building. Daphne checked in on us in the first day and was able to help us to figure out how to work the TV; she was also easy to contact. The location was perfect, an easy walk to the main area and with a bike rental, supermarket and restaurants a short walk away. While the stairs were daunting initially, after a day we were very used to them and had no issues. There was a lovely view from the windows. Even the painting on the wall of the three women kept my interest haha. We would happily stay again. Only issues were the TV was a bit finicky and the shower head was loose, so had to be carefully balanced.
- Rita (8/5): Lovely light and bright apartment in a central quiet part of the city - This was a light and bright located apartment in the residential area of Amsterdam
It was a good base to see the sights from and located in a lovely area
It was within walking distance of restaurants and pubs and the tourist attractions
The host was very welcoming and eager to assist where she could The apartment was only 1 km from the Central Station but we found it difficult to find and needed to use google maps to locate it. Once we found it, it was a good location to stay in.
The apartment was on the 3rd floor and only assessible by a tight spiral wooden staircase. We found it difficult to get our big suitcases up the stairs.
- Nick (9/5): Great location and value that I'd seek out again next time I'm out there. - Great location and comfy bed Can't think of anything to complain about.. I did initially worry a little about the curtains that hang over the heater, but it didn't create an issue at all. Stairs are steep, but that was to be expected in Amsterdam, added charm!
- Maclean (8/5): Very good - The room was fit for purpose and was comfortable. It was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable and it was within walking distance of most of the things we wanted to do during our stay. The room was very hot despite us not having the heating on. Only having one set of keys was also a bit of an nuisance and made leaving the apartment separately harder. We also had one nstance where we couldn't get in the apartment as the key/lock got stuck for a good 15 minutes.
The shower needs to be fixed, it needs a new clasp and shower head as this was the worst part of the apartment and it was broken
- Laetitia (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (9/5): Superb - Very homely feel, great location and great facilities Everything was great!
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Björn (8/5): Very good - Lovely studio in the Jordaan. Very smooth and friendly communication with the host. Kitchen supplies (places/cups/cuttlery) should be replaced and were not really clean (the rest of the studio was very clean though).
- Kevin (5/5): difficult to find. unresponsive host -
- Kenneth (1/5): Run away from this place - I should have read all the reviews. After getting there, I find out myself having to climb steep and dangerous stairs. "Dutch Stairs" For anyone with mobility issues, please be advised. They never mention the stairs and the danger of them. Also, I left within 12 hours, after injuring myself on the stairwell, and asked for a refund. They refused to refund and said, "Not a good deal for us given the fact that this issue is solely due to the guest's his bad back and knees". Cruel. Overpriced, mis-stated, and terrible customer service.
- Fopk (8/5): Super cosy little studio, perfect location! - The flat was really cute, and super bright. Bed was extremely comfortable. Location absolutely perfect to get around Amsterdam on foot. The check in was easy and the communication from the host was very good. The only things bringing the rating down slightly was attention to detail - like soap bottles being empty in the shower, and one of the plates was not clean.
- William (4/5): disappointing apart from location - what breakfast?
- Jesse (10/5): Overall, we enjoyed our stay here & would probably stay again. - Excellent location. Best part of town for cute shops/ canal rides/ local bars/ restau & a close walk to the busier more touristy parts of Amsterdam. The roof-top view from bed is really beautiful & being able to open up all the windows on a hot day was delightful. The bathroom has been updated recently and was spacious & very clean. Comfy bed! This place could use some love. The dishes, towels, sheets, etc. have not been updated in quite a while & it was needing a good dust cleaning around non-working tv modum. Also, not mentioned on website: it’s located across the street from a playground used by nearby schools during the morning, day & in the evening (we got used to this tho). One more thing; the room we stayed in was up 3 very steep flights of (narrow Dutch- style) stairs and so be wary if you would find this challenging.
- Marion (10/5): Awesome place!! - It was awesome! Great location, there are many grocery stores around and it's very beautiful. The studio was very nice too, very clean! Many complain about the stairs, but it's Amsterdam. The stairs are typical of the city, and it wasn't that bad. The bin was a little bit too small for 3 nights, and I couldn't figure out how to use the microwave.
- Yana (10/5): Exceptional -
