Guest Reviews
- Chihong (9/5): -
- Glynn (10/5): - The apartment was clean, had good facilities including 2 bathrooms and washing facilities.
It was v close to.a bus stop (literally right outside) and v close to both Vic Cross train station and Vic Cross metro. And shops of all kinds also very close. Iga is almost in the building. Nothing. It was perfectly fine.
- michael (10/5): Month in OZ - Location ideal for transport links , central Sydney and tourist areas. Air con all rooms. Plenty of space, Great views. No negatives.
- Antoine (9/5): -
- robert (10/5): Fantastic Stay - It had all the facilities that we needed and more
The location and info about the location was excellent ( Kirribilli markets)
- Ilona (7/5): - Sehr gute Lage, schnell an der U Bahn, schneller Kontakt Die Sauberkeit und der Geruch in der Wohnung und dem Flur waren unangenehm, sehr sehr dünne Wände.
- Mirjam (9/5): Fantastisch! - Mooi, ruim appartement op toplocatie. Vlakbij de metro, winkels en restaurants. In 10 minuten ben je in het centrum. -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Fernando (9/5): Very pleasant stay - Location, apartment, facilities, proximity to the metro station, size of the apartment providing a very confortable stay. Honestly perhaps the only thing i did not like was the fact that the agent was not there when we arrived and did not pick up the phone despite more than 10 calls we made to him and gave us a poor excuse for that. It caused us a little distress as we were in the middle of the street waiting for him to show up and we did not know if he would.
- R.J. (8/5): Perfecte locatie. - Locatie in Sydney. In CBD north, dus buiten het drukke toeristische gedeelte. Bovenop M1 metroline station Victoria Cross. Geweldig restaurant Antica op de hoek. Weinig inspirerende info van de verhuurder. Nogal kortaf en wilde zo snel mogelijk verder, terwijl jij net een reis achter de rug hebt en dus niet heel erg fris meer in je hoofd.
- KERRI (9/5): - Location / cleanliness felt a little tight on the amenities. We stayed 8 nights in a 2 bedroom apt for 4 people. 1 small bar of soap in the bathroom, 2 rolls of T paper, 2 dishwasher sachets & 2 washing machine sachets.
- Kathryn (5/5): Disappointed. Did not meet expectations. - Safe. Nice size. Close to metro station So many things. Terrible view. Pictures online showed a beautiful view of Sydney. We got a view of the neighboring apartments. Dirtier than expected (walls, sofa, a couple of the pots and pans, etc.) We bought blankets to cover the sofa. We found a large pan in a drawer that was absolutely filthy. The inside of the dishwasher had pieces of food still stuck in it. Not enough amenities. The dishwashing liquid was almost empty. Not enough garbage bags. There was no toaster in the apartment. When informed, a toaster, more dishwashing liquid, and a couple of more bags (still not enough) were brought over the next day. One of the knobs on the gas stove was coming off, which was a little scary. The outdoor area needed to be cleaned up. Lots of spiderwebs. The wifi was just okay to terrible. The beds were very uncomfortable, the worst in Australia we experienced. The sofas were stained and very uncomfortable. No blankets. There were a couple extra duvets, but no blankets. The dryer was very, very loud and installed way too high to easily reach. Even the taller members of our party had trouble reaching the lint trap. We had to request a step stool. One of the shower doors did not close. You would have to hold it shut when taking a shower. Otherwise, water would get all over the floor. (When informed about the shower door and dirty sofas and walls, they did nothing to rectify.) There are only two elevators for the building. One or the other was always down. Not their fault, but added to our general disappointment. Also, the building is on a steep hill. Sydney is very hilly. Think San Francisco.
- Alison (10/5): Lovely base to explore the delights of Sydney. - Great location. Access to the Northern beaches by bus from St Leonard’s park and access to the city by metro from Victoria Cross.
Good restaurants within walking distance and grocery shops close by too.
The one bedroom apartment was just right for our three week stay. Space to chill out. Good kitchen and laundry facilities. Nothing really.
- David (10/5): Good place to stay - Modern, clean, spacious, well equipped kitchen and good location. Almost next to metro station for quick access to the city centre Nothing
- Hans-Werner (10/5): Perfect stay in a more urban environment with super fast access to Sydney’s CBD - Modern Apartments, in our case with fantastic view into the green. Ideally located close to the Metro M1 with quick access into Sydney’s CBD. Quiet environment escaping the hectic life environment.
- Marco (8/5): Je recommande c’était presque parfait - Nous avons aimé l’agencement, l’emplacement, les équipements. Le nettoyage. Il restait des emballages sous les lits.
- Lene (9/5): -
- Lee (8/5): -
- Vanessa (9/5): -
- Scott (10/5): - Clean and fully equipped apartment. Location was great. High floor so no street noise.
- Sian (9/5): - Apartment was ideal for what we needed and very comfortable.
- HIDEAKI (4/5): -
- Ersin (3/5): Unfortunately, the apartment did not match the advertised photos and made my stay more difficult than it should have bee - The location was good, the check-in process was easy, and the staff on site were friendly. The apartment did not match the photos shown on the listing. Apparently there are multiple units, but I do not believe the apartments from the main listing photos actually exist — at least not in this building. I was shown two different units, and neither of them had any real resemblance to the pictures advertised.
- Campos (10/5): value for money - The unit is spacious and clean. Is it near the metro Victoria station & bus stop. There's a nearby grocery store. the beddings could be cleaner
- Rhiannon (8/5): Good and comfortable thanks - We were moved to a different location and was so impressed with how close we were to the opera house. Amazing area and facilities Poor communication from AAN pre check in. I got so scared it was a scam as was getting passed to different people which was quite stressful. The person who did actually check us in was lovely and went through everything well despite it being 11pm at night.
- Peter (8/5): Great unit, great location, remember the toilet paper.. - Comfortable, well equipped and compact unit in great location, just remember to bring spare toilet paper, soap, dish wash and laundry powder etc... Confusing check-in with last minute change of unit to another building. Digital compendium to an unrelated third building. Weekly service does not include consumables, which is unnecessary and unhelpful for travellers.
- Shirley (8/5): Good stay in upmarket area, but some attention to detail and customer service would go a long way. - Spacious clean apartment with wonderful view. Close to public transit and grocery stores. Grateful to be able to check in early. Washer and dryer appreciated. Expected bathtub, but only had shower. Very minimal supplies such as towels (one each and no swim towels to use at apartment pool), few cleaning supplies, garbage bags, and basic stuff like salt and pepper, toilet paper, and so on. Were told apartment would be serviced on the Friday but this never happened.
Had some storms and strong wind during our stay. Window panels in bedroom are not adequately sealed, resulting in cold drafts and rattling blinds while sleeping. We complained about this and also asked for more garbage bags. Nothing was done so we had to stuff toilet paper into the gap to solve the issue ourselves.
- Diana (8/5): We all had a very enjoyable stay at AAN apartments. - It was a self contained two bedroom apartment with well equipped kitchen and large living dining area which was comfortable and made us feel at home. The apartment building is in an excellent location with plenty of public transport available nearby and great array of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
- CJC (10/5): A great choice for a Sydney stay - The apartment was spacious and comfortable and very clean. The location was terrific, safe and friendly and very close to the metro station. Good restaurants and grocery stores nearby.
The meet and greet was friendly and professional and check-out very easy.
We would definitely stay here again if we return to Sydney. Nothing
- Sverre (9/5): -
- El-Muj (10/5): Highly recommend— Especially for business travelers. Not booking elsewhere. - AAN Apartments absolutely exceeded my expectations. John, the manager was genuinely is warm and professionalism is a rare blend. It's the little things that make a difference in terms of any inconveniences such as waiting longer when my flight is delayed and ringing and texting to make sure I was on my way despite paying in advance which meant it made no difference.
I’ll absolutely be returning—couldn’t recommend more highly.
- Mary (10/5): -
- Drew (9/5): Enjoyed our stay and very convenient location - Clean, comfortable and well equipped throughout. Great location very close to Metro station and shops Nothing
- Tony (9/5): -
- Alexandre (7/5): -
- Andy Ying Ming (9/5): -
- Lizzie (8/5): Enjoyable stay in a great location. - Great location. Liked the layout and space. Storage in the bedrooms and bathrooms was good.
Comfortable beds and great living space. Great communication with staff during stay. Kindly allowed us a slightly later check out for no extra fee. Not enough free cupboard space in the kitchen. No basic condiments (e.g salt & pepper)
Not enough dishwasher powder for the week.
Bad smells coming from bathroom drains at times.
Window in 2nd bedroom did not seal properly and when we arrived the carpet beneath was wet.
- Dylan LI (9/5): A nice, cozy place for a short stay. A perfect choice for marathoner for the Sydney Marathon. - I lived there for the Sydney Marathon. It is one of the closest places to the starting point. It took us around 15 minutes to walk to the starting point on the race day (we had to take a detour due to a road closure); otherwise, it is a 5-minute walk from the building to the starting point. Since the race day starts very early at 6.30 and the gathering time is from 5 am to 6 am, this is definitely the place where you can have some benefits.
The apartment building is also very nice in general with all the necessities, including washing machines. Some facilities are a bit outdated or worn out. For example, the shower spray is a bit loose, but it is a minor issue.
The place is also not far from the metro, like a 5-minute walk. There are also Hungry Jack (Burger King) and Mcdonalds within 5-10 minute walk. But if you want to explore more of the city or CBD, then you may want to live a bit closer to the centre rather than North Sydney. Still, just one metro stop, you are in the city. Since this is an apartment hotel/building, in the morning, neighbours were leaving for studying or work. The door closes automatically with a bang, without any mute mechanism, so you might feel a bit noisy in the early morning if you want to sleep late. In the toilet, I hear a small and weird sound continuously; however, it can only be heard from the bathroom.
- Tamilla (10/5): -
- Judith (10/5): Brilliant location lovely apartment - Lovely apartment felt like home, had everything we needed great location.
Will definitely be recommend for access around the city and to explore everything on your door step.
- Garry (9/5): Good Location in North Sydney. - A spacious and clean apartment, well located in North Sydney close to Victoria Cross Metro Station, and to buses and trains.
- Nicole (10/5): Amazing Views - The location was good; it wasn't our original booking, but it was amazing. The views were worth every sunset, every sunrise, were warm and cozy for the location and super quiet for being in a city. The showers were the only letdown; the water ran under the doors and wet the floor mat, so once you got out, the floor mat was soaking wet, and there was a puddle of water
- Trevor (10/5): ANN apartments was the perfect choice for our stay in Sydney! - The apartment was modern and very well appointed. It had amazing views from the balcony.
John was very helpful when we arrived giving us all kinds of tips and advice about how best to enjoy our stay in Sydney. Nothing comes to mind.
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Good location. Everything we needed was in the property. Spacious.
- Arjan (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (8/5): Very good - As we did not stay in AAN Apartments the ratings are for The Montrose Apartments in Angelo Street .
All amenities except secure safe box .
Good location for Metro, Buses & shops No parking .
- Robert (9/5): Very comfortable, quiet and well located. - What breakfast?
The location was excellent. There as a lack of cooking utensils.
The shower head would only stay up at an acute angle.
- Stewart (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely appt,clean,modern and spacious,great location. Poor internet(at times)
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Herbert (9/5): Great location, comfortable with lots of facilities, a little expensive. - Good views. Close to the Victoria Metro. IGA right outside. Lots of facilities to make you feel comfortable. Parking costs additional to what you pay for on this site. $25 per day if you have a vehicle of your own.
- Kathleen (8/5): Perfect for our group that helped us gain access to Sydney city centre without the noise. - The close proximity to the bus, just outside the door, the metro wasn't far away either and the grocery shops were within walking distance. The streets were clean. There was a coffee shop just downstairs. The frypan handle in the apartment was ready to come off! It was broken and very loose. Most other items in the apartment were modern, and in working order.
- Yu-kuan (7/5): Good -
- Sam (7/5): Good - Location
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Andre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mansourifard (7/5): Good -
- Linda (10/5): Great experience, excellent location and comfortable spacious apartment - Great location, 2 minute walk to the Metro or 10 minutes to the train station. Apartment was very comfortable and great service from John who was very responsive and accomodating. The cleaning schedule. We stayed 9 nights and during this period we did not have a visit from the cleaners.
- Emma (7/5): Good -
- Karolina (2/5): A Great Address, but Everything Else Screams Budget: A Host More Fit for Elon Musk’s Efficiency Department Than the Hosp - The location is the only highlight of this stay—right at the footsteps of the metro in North Sydney. It’s obvious they spent all their money on securing these prime square meters. Sadly, the investment in location seems to have drained the budget for everything else. The building is poorly constructed, with zero soundproofing. You’ll hear your neighbors from every direction, and the flimsy doors on your floor do nothing to block noise. The balcony is pointless too—between the ventilation system from a nearby skyscraper and the relentless construction noise, stepping outside feels more like punishment than pleasure.
The apartment itself is equipped with only the cheapest basics, clearly designed for rental income rather than comfort. I strongly suspect the owners and managers wouldn’t dare put a single item from this flat into their own homes. Although superficially clean, the space shows signs of neglect: rust, limescale, and dirt from countless guests that no quick 3-hour turnover between check-ins can properly address. To top it off, guests are required to take out the trash, empty the fridge, and clean up—without being provided trash bags or cleaning supplies. You will be also warned few days before you departure, that you must leave all coat hangers because if not you will be charged (that comes sent in bold, in case you think you will get away with some of them).
Ah, have I mentioned that 2 people for a week are given one toilet roll? Make your own judgment how many corners are being cut to save costs is Astra Apartments.
Worst of all is the management (for us it was John Sims and Suzie). These hosts would thrive in Elon Musk’s future “Department of Efficiency,” but hospitality is about being hospitable. Instead, you’re expected to submit unnecessary travel details and call an Australian number 30 minutes before check-in, so someone can plan to let you in. This is incredibly inconvenient for international guests who need to buy a local SIM card or pay roaming charges. Don’t bother emailing either—John doesn’t reply. You need to make sure the fridge is spotless and all of your bins are left empty.
- Dj (8/5): Very good -
- Lesley (8/5): Apartment was ok but some days only 1 available lift for a very large apartment block as other two were in service to m - It had a separate lounge and bedroom ,a nice kitchen ,good view of surroundings . I didn’t like that only half a toilet roll was left for us.Every other place I have stayed in leave you a spare.I don’t go on holiday to shop for toilet paper paper.
I don’t expect personal toiletries but surely loo roll ,yes.
- Sebastian (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Location was fantastic, very close to metro and bus stops. Very clean. Great washer/dryer. Comfortable seating area and balcony. WiFi speed and strength could be improved. Had to use 4g on many occasions to supplement. A few more basics would be helpful, eg a couple of dishwasher tablets, kitchen cloth etc
- Alison (7/5): Good - Location and it was a good size. The floor needed a good scrub. One set of towels for 8 nights, 3 pillows and I was told to wash towels and buy toilet rolls as this is all we get. No streaming services.
- Fuan (8/5): Excellent! - Well equipped apartment with great location. Nothing.
- Chin (7/5): it has been pleasant and comfortable stay. - The location is good and the facilities are good and completed. I like having the unit cleaned up once a week. it helps. the knob of the stove broke when I used it on the first day.
- Marion (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet, comfortable, modern clean apartment, two bathrooms and an amazing position with the new metro line being so close.
- Wai (8/5): Great - Location
- Herman (8/5): Very good - Location is very good. Close to public transport and other facilities No other service such as changing the bedsheets, cleaning the floor etc .
- Debbie (10/5): Best apartment we have stayed in North Sydney. Close to everything and with the Metro, great transport to both City, Cen - Modern, clean, central to everything. Metro was amazing We couldn’t really fully open the roller blinds as the apartment was overlooked by a number of units.
- Abolaji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Warren (7/5): Good -
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Anoop (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (7/5): We had a good time, and we enjoyed our stay - Very comfortable beds, good facilities, clean, carpet really convenient for small kids and bath The sun through the apartment the afternoon, nice in winter but not so much when hot weather
- Dave (10/5): Sydney. Check mark to bucket list - The balcony was wonderful, kitchen had everything you needed, the water pressure in the shower was wonderful really strong, this property was close to everything and easy access to the bus and train. Our host went out of his way to accommodate us. We love Sydney. Nothing
- Graziella (1/5): Awful, unhygienic, unpleasant - Owner entered the apartment without our knowledge. This was an invasion of privacy and made us feel very insecure thoughout our stay, no knowing if the owner would enter the apartment at any moment.
Every room in the house was infested with cockroaches - in the bedrooms, bathroom/shower, kitchen. Cockroaches were crawling in the wardrobes in the bedroom, in the shower recess in the bathroom, on kitchen benches, in the dishwasher.
The apartment is on a high floor and the buidling has problems with the lift - during our stay we had to wait 1-2 hours to be able to gain access to the apartment as both the lifts were out of order. There was no one to contact in the building to organise repairs and when we contacted the owner of the apartment said he could not do anything about it.
I would not stay here again. A very unpleasant stay and unhygienic environment. Owner entered the apartment without our knowledge.
Cockroach infested apartment (including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen).
Lift did not work to access high floor of the apartment.
- Jemma (9/5): Superb -
- Barry (8/5): Very good -
- Raymond (8/5): Very good -
- Iain (10/5): Great apartment stay. - Great location. 10 min walk to train station. 5 min to Woolworths and 2 min to pub. Nothing.
- John (9/5): Superb - Very nice apartment 😊 Only one lift in operation and on Saturday 3 people moving out of an apartment on another level they blocked off the lift . rangehood not working.and door handle in one bedroom was installed up side down but apart from that great apartment
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yoann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacki (8/5): Convenient, roomy, very clean, good facilities - The apartment was clean spacious and had all facilities needed for my stay. Also easy to access the location I needed in Sydney area.
- Conal (7/5): Good -
- Danyal (8/5): Very good -
- Leanne (9/5): Very nice place to stay in North Sydney - Very spacious and modern apartment. Good facilities - it had a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. Bed comfortable. Bathroom has a shower and bath which was nice. Big TV and comfy sofa Could have a few more kitchen utensils
- Nina (8/5): Nice little stay - Great location and clean modern apartment Couldnt find where the recycle bins are located. No instructions.
Smoke alarm very sensitive to cooking and kept going off.
- Paul (9/5): A perfectly good apartment in North Sydney. - Location to transport and food markets, good restaurants nearby and easy to explore Sydney from the apartment. Apartment was great for a couple. Comfortable bed plenty of storage space and well equipped kitchen. Balcony was a bonus. Bathroom is roomy. Laundry was a bonus too. Bathroom towel rail not easy to reach from the shower and the basin sprayed everywhere. A couple more towels would be good especially for hair wash days.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (9/5): Great location - was comfortable to return to after a day of sight-seeing. - Spacious for an apartment, two good bathrooms with equal water pressure. Everything we needed was available. Location was great - an easy walk to the train station and shops.
- Vaibhav (6/5): Overall the property is OK. - The property is ok. The biggest issue was the air conditioning not working in the property. We visited in summer and so had really difficult time especially in the afternoon. air conditioner not working.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (8/5): Clean, spacious and great location made this apartment a great option for our week in Sydney. - The location was exceptional, access to buses, trains and ferries was terrific. We had a car so Crows Nest was a convenient spot for a big shop, but the convenience store and local cafes were also very handy day to day. The TV did not have Chromecast as promised, so our viewing was limited.
The main bed was broken, but was quickly fixed when we reported it.
The only bedding available were doonas which were too hot, sheets and optional light blanket would have been better.
The kitchen was ok - but surprised to find no grater, and a very ordinary peeler.
- Rex (9/5): Superb - Great location, fast respond.
- Alex (9/5): Perfect location, we would definitely stay there again. - The place was clean , spacious and very convenient. The shower doors did not stay closed
- Mayra (10/5): Good and comfortable with amazing location - Location. Street parking was challenging.
