• Thuli (1/5): Bad I will never ever recommend it - Nothing My check in was at 14:00 , I got there at 16:30 and my room wasn’t cleaned it was dirty , the bed wasn’t made . When I told my host he ignored my calls
• Jared (6/5): Could be better for what you pay.. - Area was good and close for what I needed. Key was easy to obtain after reading the email received. Shops close By to get snacks. The TV had nothing pre logged in to watch. They did not even leave us with any coffee sachets or tea/sugar. Parking on basement floor 2 had the door locked so had to walk down to the other floor

• Mr Kay 2025 (7/5): Imperfect perfect haven - The beauty of the hotel & system used to make sure only relevant people get the key when checking in The fact that no one is available to welcome you in escorting you to your room & show you how their system works (we took 30 minutes to check in) including guiding you where to get restaurant around the building plus the gym or the pool, you are left to figure out things on your own, the place is beautiful but has room for improvement

The room was too small than what was shown on the website, the place lacked resources to use e.g no utensils, limited towels, and bathing soaps, the place had an unpleasant manly smell, it also smelled like someone used to smoke in it. • Atlanta (2/5): Overall, not worth the money and I wouldn't stay here again - Really disappointed, the shower was clogged from the start, making it unpleasant to use, and during my entire stay the only time the room was cleaned was on the day I left. Getting in and out of the property was another hassle- every time you had to track down security to open the gate. The staff were not helpful at all, and reception didn't seem to know how to deal with issues when I asked for assistance.

• Lesley (2/5): - I refer to my stay at your accommodation last night, 22 May 2025. I did not have a good experience of my stay and wish to highlight the following: • I notified the property that my flight is only arriving in Jhb after 9pm, which means that I only arrived there after 10pm. • I got to an empty reception. I followed the instructions on where to find my key, only to struggle with the code and eventually got hold of the security guy that was on his round outside of the building. • He assisted me and only to discover my key was not in the box (Room 1204). • After phoning the number for housekeeping, I was told to look in a different box (Room 1206) – to get the key there. • This took me almost an hour to sort out • The warm water was not getting warm and I was not timeously notified of this. • I also arranged for a transport drop off in the morning, I received a response inwriting to confirm this will be arranged at no charge. • When I got to reception the morning, no one knew about it and I was not assisted. • I also struggled to get the key in the box as the code did not work, so I had no choice but to leave the key with reception, who was also hesitant to take the key. According to them it was a private booking, which I was not aware of as I booked on Bookings.com. • I just felt that all this information should have been provided to me upfront to ensure that I (the client) feels comfortable and safe with my surroundings in how I was being received and how my stay was managed.

• Mogale (5/5): Overall, the apartment was nice but it was just dirty and stuffy which made my stay very underwhelming. - The city view was beautiful and the stuff were very welcoming and nice. The property wasn’t clean, I had to clean it upon arrival. The sink had small pieces of food, the cutlery has strains on them and the microwave was greasy. The shower door had stains, the toilet wasn’t clean inside, we had limited toilet paper and the towel in the bathroom had brown stains.

• shannon hailey (5/5): average - i LOVED the view, one of the best views in johannesburg. Had some confirmation check-in trouble, so not sure if they didn’t plan for me to come? but it was not clean or prepped. No tea, coffee or sugar, dirty containers, 1 glass for 2 people? no hand towel in the bathroom or shampoo & body wash. I’ve stayed at this property before, so expectations were high, but this time really disappointed me.

The fridge was broken, Wifi not working, sliding door to balcony couldn't open or close and it was left slightly open, and lastly the aircon wasn't working. The owner told me that this wasn't possible.... they then managed to put me in another apartment. This one the fridge and wifi are at least working. However, the aircon still isn't working and there is currently a heatwave in Johannesburg! What came out of the shower gel canister in the shower was disgusting. This is just unacceptable. I have been coming to this place for a few years now and it is just getting worse and worse.

• Virginie (1/5): AWEFUL! - Nothing except location. It suited me for the purpose of my stay. So here is my experience of Illovo Central so far…. 1. Can’t get hold of the human that can help me check in. I ring booking.com and they ask me not to use this number but eventually help me. 2. After a 6 hour international flight, I need to go to the toilet - there is no toilet paper! Nothing stored anywhere. 3. Then notice one of the blinds are broken (the one that blocks the view but lets the light in) so I am left with the second blinds. So you either have pitch black or fully exposed but I “let it go” because evening is coming anyway… we move on… 4. I want to switch one of the lamps on because it’s very dark (blinds story) and it’s not working, I check the plug and see it’s not in the wall. I have to move the bed, bed base and bed board to get to the back - finally I get it, whilst there, I notice how DISGUSTING and dirty it is behind the bed - including human hair. Finally plug in the lamp. 5. So now I go shower (great) but want to check that the shower head is clean - slide my hands on the top of the shower head and it’s black. 6. Ok, let’s move on, I now decide I am making soup - no scissors to open soup packet (ok maybe not all places have that) then look for bowls - thank God there is one. If there were 2 people here only one of us would have a bowl. No kitchen towel to get the hot bowl out of the microwave, ok I use the towel. 7. Now I just want to go to bed and watch a stupid movie and fall asleep - tv control does not work!. I see 2 pairs of battles, I change the batteries and still nothing. I realise my clicker has the same size battery, so I change yours and use mine and voila it works. BUT THEN….. 8. The TV has no source or connection and so it does not work. I have tried Everything! So now I can’t watch a movie. After a 6 hour international flight, I just want to rest and watch a movie - I can’t. 9. Then I need to wash my face and notice the basin is blocked so need to move to the kitchen to wash my face!

The checking in was a nightmare, the host didn't answer calls and reception had no idea about our booking. The allocated parking wasn't available. The apartment was clean but the bathroom wasn't clean, there was soap scum and hair and the bedding wasn't clean.

• Phumlile (3/5): I was very disappointed with their service. - The room was not cleaned when we checked-in. We had to fight with the owner and staff for clean linen and inner, as the one we found was wet and had semen all over it.

The linen had coffee/tea stains which was very disgusting. The toilet is not deep cleaned as it has stains inside the bowl, it was not flushed on arrival. The soap stand in the shower is loose and could break anytime. The coffee ,tea and sugar dispenses were stained and had finger prints meaning they were not cleaned. The kettle and coffee machines were so dirty including the balcony ,with a dirty mop that was left outside. That place was very disgusting, I'm so mad that I took my money for a staycation and got nothing but a view for it. The receptionist was rude and not eager to help acting like I should know the process when it was my first time there.
