• Glen (10/5): Our two night stay at Riva-La-Vista was the highlight of our trip to Cooktown. - Self-catering facilities were available for cooking. Quiet room allowed for a good night's sleep in a fantastic bed. Comfortable seating available on the veranda for viewing the Endeavour River and surrounds. The host was friendly and hardworking to get everything right for her guests. There was nothing we did not like;

• cathy (8/5): Such a beautiful place to stay - Riva la Vista is a lovely place to stay. This was our second stay. The room we stayed in was immaculate and the bed nice and comfy. The view from our room at sunset was amazing and our host was friendly. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to Cooktown. There are two rooms available at Riva la Vista. One has the ensuite bathroom inside the room and the second room has the bathroom outside of the room and unfortunately you have to walk through the communal kitchen to get to your bathroom. We have stayed in both rooms at different times and would suggest booking the room with the bathroom inside the room if you want privacy.

• jennifer (10/5): Sensational location overlooking Cook town & the Endeavour river. - The view from Riva la vista is simply a beautiful slice of paradise. Laying in bed waking up to this view was sensational. The rooms are well designed & were perfect. The one with the bathroom was spacious, very comfortable & worked well for my mother, who has mobility difficulties. Terri kindly also supplied a shower chair. The large undercover outdoor communal area was lovely to enjoy meals in, with views of the Endeavour river below. It was hard to get up & leave to explore Cook Town. Everything was perfect.

The couple that arrived on the same day as us got the large room (staying 1 night) while we were staying for 2 nights got the small room. I was just a little disappointed.

• Char... (10/5): This is our second stay at this facility and will likely be our permanent destination going forward - Everything. From the location, to the view, to the layout, to the home-made works of art strategically placed around the common sitting area, to the privacy, to the peace and quiet, to the small touches like: real milk and chilled water in the fridge, and cereals available for breakfast, including condiments. To providing shampoos, conditioners and body wash in the ensuite and bathroom (we've stayed in both rooms). The small touches that made it homely, while providing a top notch holiday home and so incredibly well priced. There was nothing to dislike - everything was perfect if you want a classy but quiet little get away spot.

• Suzie (10/5): Wonderful stay in Cooktown - We had the most amazing stay. There are two guestrooms and a shared kitchen/living space with the most fantastic view over Coooktown. Our bathroom was across the living space (I believe the other room is en-suite) but it was just for us and we had no issues with that. The hosts are so charming, hardly saw them, although they live up above so they are on hand to answer any questions.

Continental breakfast provisions in fridge. Terri our host was very friendly and helpful. Incredible value for money. Nothing.

• Wayne (10/5): This is a genuine HIDDEN GEM in Cooktown and we will DEFINITELY come again! - It is an amazing place to stay. The property is reasonably tucked away with a beautiful view of the bay. It was spotless, quiet, cosy and just a lovely place to chill out. The owners, Ricky & Terry are lovely. They are friendly and gave us a good, friendly welcome. There are only two rooms, making it very private. Each room has a TV and its own separate bathroom and there is a combined kitchen with all the appliances needed for cooking, including a BBQ. There is also a large TV in the lounge/open area with comfortable seats to relax and take in the view. The room was spotless and the beds very comfortable. The parking is next to the house and is secure. The decor of the property is quaint and it makes you feel like you are on vacation. I loved it too as it is only a two minute drive from both the lookout at the top of the hill and from the nearest shops. Oh yes, if you like motorbikes, then Ricky is the man to talk to! It exceeded our expectations and there was nothing we didn't like.
