Guest Reviews
- Darlene (9/5): A beautiful vibration!! - Beautiful old building left in its original state - so warmly and comfortable Don't change anything
- Sybil (9/5): It was a pleasure to visit again. - Very pleased that the new owners have not changed the decor in this wonderfully furnished and decorated establishment. Single bed mattress not the best
- Diane (9/5): - The building was interesting and the decor was warm and welcoming. The staff had time to chat and give a bit of history of the building. Its not just a room for the night, there are community areas to sit and relax in comfort with friends or new acquaintances. The beds could be a little more comfortable.
- Donna (10/5): Hope to return one day. - A work of art! Loved the unique character and style. Full of charm and an excellent blend of colour! Staff were welcoming, friendly and relaxed. A memorable, comfortable stay. Highly recommend. I only booked for one night. Would have liked to have had the time to stay longer. Also, not sure but it did not appear to be easily accessible if you can’t manage stairs.
- Nikole (10/5): A warm welcome, very very accommodating. Made us feel very special. - So comfortable, beautiful decor
- Christopher (10/5): - Really friendly, family run, guest house. It is very much like staying in somebody's home. Every room is different and the shared spaces are very comfortable.
- Vadim (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The property was absolutely beautiful with lots of character and a beautiful location.
- Catherine (8/5): - This is a special place that echoes with history and eclectic art. Quirky and fun, gorgeous setting.
- Dana (10/5): Awesome accommodation takes you back in time very well maintained property and so much to look at! - We missed the breakfast sorry!
- Darlene (10/5): My new get away to recharge. - Where do I start? Walking in is a sensory paradise. The artwork and the choice of colour for the walls was a visual delight. My hosts were friendly and knew about the area
The room was set up with kettle, fridge, cups, etc. there was a kitchen across the hall in which I made my dinner and breakfast. the door in the kitchen opened out to a beautiful garden. My bed was comfortable adorned with a beautiful bedspread. The artwok throughout was amazing. The colours throughout were exquisite. the flower arrangements were a great extra. Didn't like nothing. My suggestion is to have music waffling in.

- Russell (9/5): - Beautiful old building , with great character in lovely garden setting
Good location , comfy bed
Friendly host

- Manders (9/5): Great place to relax and enjoy all that Babinda has to offer - great food, beautiful butterflies and the waterfalls - Beautiful restored historical building Nothing
- FrancisoPico (10/5): Perfect base to explore the region. - Amazing building. Beautifully decorated, relaxed, nice views of the forest.
- Karen (8/5): It was a lovely change from the usual hotel accommodation. - The decor was lovely. Definitely a step back in time. The location and the feel of the property.
- Zoemaree (10/5): Delightful historical building, private rooms. - Beautiful property, so colourful. Lots to see everywhere you look.
- Howard (8/5): It was pleasant and I would be happy to return. - No breakfast--the location was convenient. I liked the view of the extensive gardens. The long staircase, although that may be difficult to ameliorate.
- Chatfield (8/5): Great place to stay - Location was nice and close Nice and clean room
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Kerry (10/5): Beautiful, unique and a must do accommodation experience in the far north. There absolutely is nothing like it. - A truly unique and beautiful stay in this amazing building. Every room was carefully curated with little details and colourful artworks. The decor and beautiful painting gave it such a vibrant and welcoming edge. It was like being in a second home and Kim the owner was a delight and made us feel very welcome. Lots of outdoor and reception areas to share food and drinks as well. The bonus of the little kitchens that were fully set up was such a treat if you wanted to prepare your own food.
- Damaris (10/5): -
- Megan (10/5): A special retreat in the heart of Babinda. - The quaint charm, the art deco vibe, the beautiful art & furnishings, friendly staff & hospitality. Such a special place which I hope is preserved for years to come. Nothing!
- Madeleine (10/5): Awesome - Such an amazing building! And to think that the building almost got torn down. If you are looking for something special, then Babinda Quarters is it. Nothing

- Lizzy (10/5): - This beautiful property has been restored with so much love, love the huge furnished balconies, extra facilities including huge kitchens with all amenities, laundry, books, board games, even has a baby grand piano in the well appointed lounge, beautiful artwork adorns the walls. The gentleman we were greeted by so helpful, showed us our room then the Doctors quarters, what an amazing room, so we upgraded our room to the Doctors quarters & due to being my hubby's birthday, we even had a discount. We will be back. Nothing to dislike at all.
- David (10/5): A delightful stay in a building and town rich with history! - This was a beautiful property that has clearly had a lot of love put into its restoration.
The room itself was excellent, and the common areas provided everything required for a comfortable stay. The town of Babinda has an interesting history, and the Boulders are a must-see tourist attraction; just don’t forget the insect repellant, it’s a rainforest!
- Penny (8/5): -
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful. Well worth a trip to Babinda! - So beautifully renovated, welcoming and comfortable
- Grant (10/5): -

- Jessica (10/5): -
- Caleb (9/5): Beautiful historic property with great hosts - Hosts were very friendly, providing great recommendations for things to do in the area. Garry was very helpful by informing me of the local leeches I would encounter on my hike and told me where I could find a repellent. It was advice well warranted!
- Jessica (9/5): -
- Ian (10/5): -
- Troy (10/5): Beautiful place very friendly and informative owners -
- Craig (8/5): -
- Craig (8/5): - Set in amongst a really nice tropical setting. room was small but comfortable, shared facilities were very good Lots of stairs
- Simone (9/5): A serene getaway not too far from Cairns and surrounded by nature. - Friendly hosts. Nice gardens. Everything was very clean. There was lots of artwork around to look at. Babinda Boulders is a short drive away. Lots of stairs, not great for people with mobility issues.

- niamhi11 (10/5): -
- Ramona (9/5): -
- Belinda (10/5): Loved how passionate our host was about the property. Such a wonderful place to stay. This accommodation on the map. - I loved the artwork, the history of the building and the interior design. It was a bit dark at night.
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Cornelissen (10/5): Highly recommend and will hopefully some day be back to visit - Was an excellent place to relax I had to leave 😪
- Helen (8/5): - The bright colours and attention to detail of the decor. A unique place to stay.
- Joe (9/5): -
- Brian (8/5): -
- Liz (10/5): Beautiful rooms in great location . Can’t wait to go back! - Everything! Nothing
- Ambrum (10/5): -
- Rosemarie (10/5): -
- murray and rhonda (8/5): Beautifully renovated older style spacious building set in magnificent tropical gardens. - Great location close to all facilities.
- Guest (10/5): - Such a great stay. The place felt so cosy and welcoming, beautiful decor and garden and great host who recommended some great things to do in the area.
- Max (10/5): Exceptional - This accommodation is unique. Amazing period-piece aesthetics throughout. Every room or public area that I saw had its own particular decorative flavour, but all within the 40-50s era - so evocative. Brilliant artwork. Generous kitchen & general facilities, complete with lounge club-like atmosphere including tuned baby-grand piano. Plenty of nooks & crannies for different internal & external perspectives. Would have loved to have stayed longer to do justice to all the artsitry & decor. Lush gardens, homely feel - Kim was a wonderful host! Didn't affect me personally, but could not see any ramps or facilities for people with disabilities negotiating different floor levels.
- Steven (9/5): Lovely place to stay - I loved staying here. The building is an old renovated nurses quarters that is done up with such a flair. It does not look like much from the outside but inside it is painted with vibrant colours and cool artwork everywhere. The owner has obviously devoted much time and money to renovate the building. There was good air conditioning in the room and in the cool of the morning, the windows could be swung open to view the lush plants in the gardens. Each floor had a fully stocked kitchen as well as a veranda to sit out and enjoy your morning coffee. The bed was very comfortable and the showers worked well. The photos shown on Booking.com do not do justice to the beauty of the building. It truly was fixed up tastefully. I would highly recommend a stay here. Parking was a bit of an issue as there was no designated place to park. There was parking on the street or you could drive over the curb to park on the grass. There were also many stairs in the building so this is definitely not a place for those with mobility issues.

- Soukoreff (10/5): A beautiful place to stay, so unique and inspiring, we loved it! - This spot had such a unique and creative atmosphere. Beautiful and unexpected decoor or interesting furniture items around every turn. We loved the bright colors and how we felt immersed in the tropics with all the windows open and the airy feeling that gives. And yet somehow, the place was spotless. It was very quiet and comfortable and the staff were so friendly. It was in a great location too with the cute village of Babinda in walking distance and the lovely Babinda boulders swimming hole just a short drive away. Our favorite place we stayed in Australia while we were there! There truly wasn't anything we didn't like... except that eventually we had to leave!
- Kylie (10/5): -
- Jac (10/5): The two members of staff were friendly and gave a personal touch to the beatutiful art deco house - The staff were very friendly and we loved the personal touch: Garry checked us in and showed us our room and the facilities and the next morning Danielle showed us around on a guided tour of the beatutiful art deco house giving us a potted history and pointing out the fascinating art and antiquities.
- Ralph (9/5): -
Brandschoon.. Iets kleinere badkamer. Maar zeer praktisch en schoon. Had alles wat je nodig had.
- Greg (9/5): Tropical sanctuary - Decor and forest surroundings, history
- Didier (9/5): -
- Andreas (9/5): Beautiful hotel surrounded by lovely trees, flowers, very quiet. - Beautiful quiet hotel surrounded by nature, trees, flowers. There was a lovely balcony. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the fact that we got two separate rooms that were connected, but only the bigger room had a bathroom. And the bathroom did not have a door.
- Gerard (10/5): - The services were exceptional. Even though the flight was delayed and was late arriving at Babinda Quarters, Kim took the time to greet me and welcome me.
Thank you so much Kim for the hospitality and the warm welcome.
I'll be sure to recommend Babinda Quarters. Nothing.
- Christopher (10/5): Super charming place! I instantly felt relaxed as soon as a stepped inside! -
- Trina (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): -
- Darcy-rose (10/5): It was great and allowed me to focus on my university work while I was on placement. - It was great, stylish and a calm pleasant place.
- Hannah (9/5): -
- Milford (10/5): - Vibrant, Colourful, happy, relaxing and clean. A great spot to stay and so close to all the amazing sites around the area. Space for the kids to kick the soccer ball in the back yard aswell. Very comfortable. My Pillow was a bit firm, but hey everyone's different. The stay was great.
- Donna (9/5): We absolutely loved our stay at The Quarters 👌 - We absolutely loved the quirkiness of the decor…..the brilliant cheerful colours! The interesting bits and pieces, small and large and also the paintings! Fresh flowers! The interesting history of the building! Nothing of consequence really. My partner is tall and found the toilet low. I’m short and found the switches too high 🤣🤣
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful, stylish accomodation - A beautifully restored and decorated Art Deco building. Rooms are stylish and very comfortable. Lovely spaces in living area and balconies to relax. Beautiful views and gardens. We had a great meal at the Italian restaurant Amore and lovely swim at the Boulders. Kim, the host, was very welcoming. Nothing
- Sergio (10/5): Comfort and old world charm in a magnificent period building. Magnificent and welcoming. - No breakfast. Location was perfect. It was a very welcoming and comfortable stay. More facilities in room for hanging clothes would have been welcome.
- Jennifer (9/5): Unique and charming stay with great facilities - Properly gorgeous and unique property. Our room..."the doctors room" had a little lounge with a large chaise sofa and a charming marble dining table ..plus a little balcony where we could sit and enjoy the dawn chorus! Good shower, nice towels. The building has several balconies and terraces exquisitely furnished with different views and sun/shade. Well equipped kitchens with lovely stylish crockery, a luxurious lounge, extensive libraries and stunning art completes the deal. Garry was super helpful and kind.helping us find wildlife hotspots and local eateries. I do hope this place remains as a cornerstone of Babinda for many years to come! (Babinda itself is a charming and convenient stop of visiting the boulders, Josephine falls or even on to the Tablelands or up or down the coast) All good mate!
- Jens-Peter (9/5): -
- Sam (9/5): - Unique and fabulous- worth going to babinda just to stay here Nothing!
- Victoria (10/5): We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s a gem, have already recommended. - Unique, fun, comfortable, spotless, great attention to detail, quality room amenities and kitchen items in room, friendly staff. Nothing
- Kassandra (10/5): Magical and unique. - We loved every moment of this stay, and I hope they keep the Babinda Quarters as is, forever!
Every space in the house was filled with something unique and magical, with there always being something new to wander at. I’ve travelled across Australia, and overseas, and I thoroughly enjoyed this home away from home.
- Annette (10/5): - Staff friendly and helpful. Loved the old building! Pillows
- Lindon (8/5): - Beautiful restored property, comfortable and quiet The stair access is difficult for older people, and would prefer off street parking
- Rowan Cooper (7/5): - Beautiful quarters and gardens It was quite noisy and the fire alarm was tripped in the middle of the night
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): It’s my 4th back- love it - Love the atmosphere Loved it all
- Catriona (10/5): We absolutely loved it - it was the highlight of our trip. Babinda was also fantastic. - Loved the decor and the gorgeous expansive light filled building with its deep verandahs and outlook
Our room was a delight
Toiletries were absolutely lovely
Self catered breakfast and this was easy and nice. Kitchen was very clean. Maybe in the kitchen a few more knives, forks, spoons, cutting knifes plates and glasses. Maybe some cling wrap baking paper and foil and definitely more tea towels as they get very wet. Possibly good idea to have some paper towels.
- Monika (10/5): -
- chloe (10/5): -
- Rhonda (9/5): Exceptional accommodation in a rainforest surrounding - Beautiful decor. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings. N/a
- Toni (10/5): A real gem! - Gorgeous place - decor is amazing, Rooms are comfortable and provide a modern twist on original features. Lots of steps, but they had handrails and were easy to navigate.
- Gill (10/5): So excited that this divine property is accessible! - Totally unique & beautiful environment.
Treasures wherever you looked!
Great host nothing too much trouble! Nothing!
My perfect property!
- Barbara (10/5): Beautifully appointed rooms in tropical setting - Typically tropical. Beautiful furnishings. Loved the colours, artworks and gardens. Kitchen had everything we required. It’s not mine!
