Guest Reviews
- Kirsty (10/5): It was relaxing and reminded me of my Nanna’s farm - It was quiet and quaint and on a working farm
The owner took us for a drive around the property Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): A lovely relaxing couple of days - A great property with heaps of character and the owners were very helpful and friendly.
- Simone (10/5): Quiet, comfortable, inviting and homely. - Our beautiful hostess greeted us on arrival to show us through and was open and friendly and even offered us fresh sourdough bread for breakfast!!!! We had our 3 small doggies with us and our little furry friends and my husband and I felt so at home and comfortable in our surrounds. The kitchen offered more than needed which is a bonus when travelling as you always forget the little flavours you need when cooking. Excellent all round. The only thing that could have been better would be a bigger bed but I have a super king at home so I am always looking for extra room as my husband and I are tall people. Nothing else needs to change at all.
- Mark (9/5): Nice and peaceful with very friendly hosts - Great farm stay vibe Dont book this property if you want something in Stanthorpe, its about a 50 min drive
- Lawrie (9/5): Wonderful - The accommodation was superb. We loved the location, the cottage and the hosts. We even got fresh baked bread every morning and a tour of the 150 acres of land! There wasn't much we didn't like
- annette (10/5): Perfect stay wonderful and generous hosts - We loved anything but judy was an exceptional host
- Alex (10/5): Restful, relaxing, and utterly delightful. - Vines teeming with clusters of grapes canopied the verandah, and the hint of sheep lanolin and hay lingered into the night beneath a star‑studded sky. Welcoming and generous hosts.
- Emily (10/5): Lovely stop to unwind and de-stress 👍 - Loved the peace and friendliness of Glenlyon Dam Cottage. The host was so lovely and welcoming as well as thoughtful. Appreciated the offer of milk and eggs on arrival.
Daughter’s also loved the farm animal tour 🙏 Not

- Merrin (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful environment and fantastic host. - Quaint little cottage in a farm setting with lots of different farm animals including the beautiful red kelpie, Dora. Such a fantastic way to ‘switch off’ from a hectic every day life. Judy could not do enough to ensure our stay was exceptional. 10/10 - we loved it!
- Susan (10/5): - What a beautiful place to go and get away from it all. Hosts were the loveliest people and provided excellent information, they were so welcoming and the eggs from the farm chickens and warm bread in the morning were delicious, beds were very comfortable and we loved walking our granddaughter around to see all the animals, we especially loved having the dogs around and the worlds friendliest sheep. We would love to come back again and stay for a little longer next time. Can't think of anything that we didn't like, we had everything we needed.
- Bonthrone (10/5): - It was lovely, very comfortable. Woke up in the morning to a chorus of birds singing, beautiful. Provided with farm fresh eggs and home made l8af if bread for breakfast. Very spoilt and very happy No complaints at all.
- Anna (9/5): Relaxing and Peaceful - We had a lovely stay at this charming little cottage 🐑🌿 Judy and Richie, were absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcome. Judy is incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and the land. You can see how much she cares about them, it made the experience even more interesting. The setting was peaceful and the cottage and garden had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality, we’d happily stay again!
- Johan (10/5): We were so impressed upon arrival - we immediately extended our stay. Lucky it was available... - We absolutely loved the freshly baked bread we got from Judy Sunday morning - hot out of the oven - what a treat.... Super tasty. For us being South African - the Guiney fowl was very special. They are native to our country and to have them around was just so special. We also loved having a massive fire outside and able to have a "Braai" (BBQ). The wood heater inside was well stocked with firewood and kept us warm all weekend..... The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and we enjoyed listening to our favourite music videos while relaxing in front of the fire. I had a Kayak trip and saw 16 black swans - which was so special. We loved the farm animals and apart from them, there were a lot of Kangaroos and Wallaby's around. But best of all - the cottage was so cosy and so authentic. Just the real farm thing - we were hoping to experience. Well done - we just really loved it and will highly recommend to everyone. The hosts are lovely friendly people - and they made sure we were taken care of. Well done - super happy with it all. Definitely going again. Leaving......
- Robyn (7/5): Wish we stayed longer. - I loved the quiet and animals.
- Jody (10/5): A little slice of country heaven. - Judy was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We loved everything about our short stay. Judy was patient and kind to the kids, answering all of their questions! We all enjoyed meeting and feeding the animals.
The cottage had super comfy beds and so many cute decorations to discover.
Judy's homemade bread was the best bread we've ever had and was very appreciated.
Sad we only stayed for one night....next time we will stay for longer🥰
- Jonquil (10/5): Wonderful and peaceful - Judy and Richard were as welcoming as the last time we stayed here. it was a pleasure to revisit the farm and meet them and all the animals again.
- Backhouse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xiaoxiao (10/5): Exceptional - Judy is friendly and welcoming.
The place is very clean and beautiful
Highly recommended
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (8/5): Cute, cosy stay on the farm - Loved the cute little cottage and the close encounters with the animals. Freshly made bread in the morning was a plus! It was a little far out from the main attractions of Stanthorpe area, but we managed.
- Suzanne (10/5): Looking forward to a return visit. - Gorgeous cottage!1
Country hospitality and comfort in abundance.
Judy and Richie were welcoming and friendly.
The warm homemade bread was a a delightful surprise.
Thank you both.
- Philip (9/5): Perfect "real" rural getaway ! - Exactly what we were after - a peaceful rural break. Great down to earth host and also enjoyed the animals very much!
- Meylen (10/5): 10/10 recommend - Everything about this cottage was amazing
Judy and Richie where absolutely the most kind people ever and where so beyond accommodating Absolutely nothing it was perfect
- 珮芸 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (1/5): Bad - Not at all like the pictures. Didn’t end up staying, drove to another town.
- Jince (10/5): It was very good rural property with very good host -
- Janene (10/5): We wanted a farm experience and we got it in spades. A perfect stay. - Genuine working farm, in beautiful country; excellent hosts. Fascinating uncommon sheep breeds, gorgeous little pink piglets, Guinea fowl and even a peacock or two. Old time cottage with very comfortable four poster bed and wood fires, sheltered verandah with grape vines. Beautifully set out vegetable gardens, along with homemade bread and other treats. Nothing
- Stewart (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable with fantastic hosts! - Thoroughly enjoyed the farm stay experience and the wonderful hosts, Judy and Ritchie. My 11yo daughter loved the animals, especially the 13 piglets born during our stay! We all loved the open fire at night, toasted marshmallows, and star gazing. Our dog loved chasing the Guinea Foul and sheep, and playing with the owners dogs (particularly Dora). Hope to visit again soon.
- Rafila (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (10/5): Extremely wonderful hosts. A relaxing few days enjoying the farm stay and animals. - My sister and I took our Mum to Glenlyon for a 3 night stay to celebrate our Mum's 94th birthday.
We were self sufficient with our meals. Our hosts, Judy and Ritchie were wonderful....gave us our space but were there if we needed them. Cottage very clean and comfortable. Loved the various animals roaming around the farmhouse and fields.
Our hosts were mindful of our elderly Mum's limitations for walking around the cottage exterior and for feeding the animals and Judy took that into account to make the experience easier for our Mum. The dogs were very friendly :)
- Velma (9/5): Good farmstead, we all enjoyed it. - We had a good time. Judy was a delight as were all the animals. Honestly I did not research it properly but it was a nice way to visit the area. I doubt that other stays are as pleasant. I didn't have any complaints, it is a long ways from anything but that is part of the package with a real farmstay.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hosts
Wonderful animal experiences
- Kandrakota (9/5): We will be going back there soon - Excellent hosts, excellent location and hospitality
- Will (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (9/5): A beautiful little cottage with down to earth people. - The eggs and sour dough were excellent as well as the farm tour was first class There was nothing to dislike
- Khanh (7/5): Good for a short stay for kid to interact with animals. - The farm animals and fast wifi. The cleanliness, quality of the floor and appliances.
- Jibran (10/5): Lovely place. Lovely hosts. Felt like home. - The hosts were exceptionally hospitable Nothing. Liked everything
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional - Judy and Ritchies hospitality, willingness to help and passion for their farm, animals and land!
Beautiful country and location!
Kid and family friendly! Nothing comes to mind.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (10/5): Relaxing farm cottage - This is a true farm stay (not a commercial enterprise) in a historic cottage and setting. The farm animals: dogs, birds, sheep, chickens, ducks, cows, pigs, kangaroos, alpacas….The lovely host and friends. I travelled solo and as a female felt very safe as the host lives close by. Fresh bread baked for you! Kitchen fully equipped so you just need to bring meat and fruit and vegetables because the closest shop is forty minutes drive. Beautiful views of the dam close by. Would definitely stay again. Nothing
- Norman (8/5): Comfortable and relaxing setting. - Out in the country. Openness and open. Comfort verandah to down and have a quiet talk and wine.
- Warren (8/5): Very good -
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional - My hubby & I stayed in this gorgeous cottage just recently for 3 nights & we just loved it. Judy was a great host & very generous with her time. We were in need of some R & R and this was the perfect spot for that. The freshly baked bread, fresh farm eggs and fresh herbs were a bonus and I loved the roses! The cottage is very comfortable and the setting is beautiful! We loved having birds & animals all around us! We spent most of our time on that fabulous front verandah. Wonderful little getaway!
- Rachel (10/5): best get away from city life! - the owners, the location, the animals, and the people. n/a
- Nicole (9/5): Superb - we had a lovely, relaxed and peaceful stay at Glenlyon Dam. We loved the option to join the feeding rounds in the morning, and the ability to truely relax thanks to the quiet and seclusion.
- Imurhoneybee (10/5): A lovely get-away! - Location is in the middle of nowhere! Which was perfect for us. It is about 50mins from Stanthorpe, and Texas is another 30mins away.
Gina was amazing! My daughter loved going out in the ute to feed all the animals in the morning and to collect the eggs. The eggs were the best I have ever had.
The cottage was rustic, but comfortable. The beds were great and there are plenty of blankets to keep you warm.
Highly recommend going in the colder months as having a fire each night was fantastic. The fireplace was the best! There is also a fire pit outside, so do not forget the marshmallows.
The kitchen was small, but usable. Be sure to pick up your supplies in Stanthorpe because 'ducking out' for bread and milk is a bit of journey!
Be sure to arrive well before dusk... The kangaroos and wallaby's are all over the roads.
Wifi worked well, TV is free to air with not a lot of channels, but this didn't bother us. There were a couple of board games as well.
Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Large fridge for everything. A lot of the dam has disappeared (water to cotton farmers, I believe), so not really on the water any longer.
Kitchen could use some more drinking glasses and a pot for cooking pasta.
- Emma (10/5): What a special place we were lucky to discover - Lovely property to explore and relax. Lovely Host there Gina included my son in the farm activities which made him so happy and felt like he belonged, learning the animals names skipping around the farm, playing with the farm dogs and taking us on a little tour, haven’t seen him more joyful in a long time than at this farm! Making a connection with the animals and getting to just be a kid enjoying the simple pleasures of life exploring, playing around in nature.
We loved getting to wake up with the quiet peaceful surroundings, have fresh eggs for breakfast, go on nice walks around the farm see some animals and kick back relax. Great time, thanks.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deb (10/5): Perfect family stay to reconnect your family 🧡 - Loved the cute little cottage. Beds comfy, good pressure in shower. Fireplace warm. Animals everywhere my 9 year old loved it. If you are worried about tv, there’s no Netflix
Etc. personally it didn’t bother me at all but just a heads up.
- Kellie (10/5): A perfect weekend away - Judy is a wonderful host who loves showcasing her farm to her visitors. The extra little touches made our stay more special - fresh homemade bread, eggs, and milk supplied. We loved exploring the farm with Judy and by ourselves. We chose this cottage because of the reviews, and it did not disappoint!
Judy, you are a beautiful human 🩷 Our stay was very special because of your hospitality. We look forward to visiting again.
- Toni (10/5): Excellent and highly recommended - Such a cute cottage. Lots of animals and birds and felt very welcomed.
- Christopher (9/5): Great farm getaway with authentic country hospitality. - Great country hospitality- fresh bread on arrival, Richie coming to light the fire, and most comfortable beds I’ve slept in in a long while.
- Sal (7/5): Warm and cozy. - Judy and Richie are the best hosts! This cottage is perfect for relaxation and getting back to nature. The views are exquisite, and the warm, homey feeling is wonderful. Ask them to try their home grown nitrate free bacon! We'll be back for a week next time. They were so so understanding of my son's special needs, too. Needs a few repairs and a good clean, some updated fittings etc to align with the price range. TV has only a few local channels and no smart options, But this isn't really important once you see the sunsets 😉
- Andrea (10/5): Beautiful and awesome - It was a lovely holiday. The kids have great fun and was a great experience. Judy and Richie were caring and great hosts. We spend a whole week and it was relaxing and restful.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vaishnav (10/5): The best weekend we had in a recent while. Judy was so loving and caring in terms of handling guests -
- Lauren (10/5): Charming, family friendly and authentic farmstay. - Its a perfect getaway. It is rustic, charming and authentic. It is comfortable the farm is rolling, picturesque and filled with animals. Judy is the perfect host and generous with her knowledge and time. The freshly baked bread and eggs were a bonus! Nothing. It was perfect.
- Jonquil (8/5): Excellent place to stay to get away and relax. - Judy was a great host showing us around the farm and making us feel welcome, as did the friendly dogs. A lovely quiet place with no traffic noise at all. It was great to see all the different animals and I especially liked the alpacas. So kind in baking bread for us and providing food from the farm (eggs, pumpkin, herbs). So helpful in finding us a local tow truck guy, when the car broke down too. It was a real treat having a log fire each night. A medium frying pan would be good to cook the pancakes we made using the farm eggs - the pan in the kitchen was a little small - so had to make lots of little pancakes.
- Mandy (9/5): Family friendly comfort stay. - The host Judy was very welcoming and the cottage is gorgeous and traditional. The fireplace was a lovely addition. That we were only there one night
- Pinar (9/5): Superb -
- Buru (10/5): Cosy cottage, hospitable host, serene environment, and amazing farm experience - This was the best farmstay experience ever! Our host, Judy and and her family were very warm, friendly, and exceptionally hospitable. Our girls enjoyed roaming around the farm very far away from us, a thing they won't try in the city! They were carefree, enjoying chasing the sheep, admiring the alpacas, the horses, chickens, Guinea fowls, pigs and piglets, feeding ducks, playing with dogs and srolling along the dam. If you want a serene, quiet stay, don't think twice, go for it! We had access to homegrown produce..herbs vegetables and eggs. You can go kayaking on the dam. We also enjoyed warm homemade wholemeal bread. The weather was cold..4.4°C but Judy got it all sorted with a fireplace and supplementary electric blankets! A complimentary farm on the last day of our stay was just a cherry on top to sum up my birthday escape and fun filled holiday. Thanks Judy♡ Leaving the place😃
- Kerry-lee (8/5): Great place to stay! Lovely hosts, we were unable to arrive when we had planned to and they kindly offered us another ni - Farm animals, Dora, the piglets and llamas. Fresh baked bread and eggs delivered to us. Lots of games to play. Lovely hosts that made us feel welcome (didn’t get to meet them this time, but they were very responsive on text) ❤️ We are allergic to feathers! Most people would love the feather pillows and doonas. My son and I… not so much 😂
We booked to go to the Apple and Grape festival - I didn’t realise Stanthorpe was so big. Was a bit of a drive to the main town (I should have checked that)
- Pradeep (9/5): Wonderful stay, Wonderful hosts. Most definitely recommend. - The hosts were so warm and welcoming. We had a wonderful tour of the farm and my six year old absolutely loved it. Breakfast and cooking supplies were fantastic (including some fresh eggs collected that afternoon). The hot bread in the morning was a lovely treat. The location is about an hour out of Stanthorpe but it's a beautiful drive and absolutely worth the effort.
- Robyn (9/5): Beautiful little getaway; the only reason I won’t return is the location was a bit too remote. - Very quaint cottage; pretty site; great facilities; friendly hosts A bit too far from most places - required lots of travelling.

- Graeme (9/5): Superb - We really enjoyed the animals on the farm and kayaking in the dam. The farm was lovely to explore with great views over the dam and from up on the ridge. The host and her co-workers were extremely friendly going out of their way to make us feel welcome.
We are also keen bushwalkers, so the proximity to Sundown National Park was great for us.
- Dawson (10/5): A wonderful Farm Stay filled with Nature, Animals and warm country hospitality. - We loved staying here, next time I would stay longer atleast 5 nights. The views over the dam are lovely especially at sunrise and sunset. The silence of nature and the night sky are amazingly beautiful.
Judy is a wonderful host, very welcoming and caring. She took us on a tour of the farm and shared the history which we really enjoyed.
We travelled with 2 small breed dogs and they had the best time.

- Christina (10/5): A relaxing and comfortable escape in the country. - We were provided with fresh farm eggs, milk, damper, veges from the garden and a well-stocked kitchen. The cottage was very comfortable and provided all that was needed, with extras like games and books. Relaxing on the balcony was wonderful! We loved meeting all the farm animals and Dora the dog. This was a perfect escape to the country to relax and explore. Thank you to Judy and Richie for such lovely hospitality. Loved everything! One extra that would have been useful would be a map of the property to show where to drive/walk to explore.

- Naomi (10/5): We loved the comfortable accommodation, relaxing on the farm and meeting the animals. - We loved the chicks behind the accommodation and the lamb and kid my daughter was able to feed. We collected chicken and duck eggs. Enjoyed exploring the farm and meeting all the animals (chickens, cows, lambs, sheep, pigs, goats, kids, guinea fowl and wild wallabies and birds).
- Jeanine (10/5): Everyone will have their own idea of what makes a perfect place to getaway from it all. To us it was a piece of paradise - Judy and Richie are just wonderful, We felt welcomed in every way. The cottage was delightful and homely and having the animals around made it extra special. We can’t wait to return for a longer stay next time. There was nothing that we didn’t like. We loved every bit of it.
- Desire (8/5): A place of rest. - Peace and quiet between the farm animals. No city noise. Whole cottage just for yourself. You really come to a place of rest. Friendly country hospitality. Judy really keen to share her peace of heaven with you and will go out her way to make you feel at home.
- Nhan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shabina (10/5): A truly magnificent place made even more unforgettable by the hosts... - The team at Glenlyon Dam Farmstay truly make the place unforgettable. From the initial communication with Judy to arriving and meeting Judy, Richie and CJ on site it was truly a wonderful holiday for us. The animals were gorgeous and the location being so close to Genlyon Dam was incredible. Morning walks around the property collecting the eggs (something our toddler will never forget - thanks CJ!) and feeding the animals was a wonderful experience and we were truly sorry to be leaving.
The cottage itself was warm and inviting - everything you could think of was provided to make the stay top notch. The beds were comfortable, fire was cozy with plenty of wood available. Kitchen well stocked with every utensil you might need.
These guys go above and beyond to make sure your stay is everything you would want it to be. We will be back as soon as we can! There were absolutely no negatives at all - aside from having to leave!
