Guest Reviews
- Johnny (9/5): -
- CHIN-HSIANG (10/5): - Clean and breakfast No
- Lauren (9/5): - The historic feel and gardens
The continental breakfast available any time
The attention to details. The shower sprays all over the floor and the you can’t walk in there unless you have bare feet. We were in room 5
- Isabel (9/5): Would definitely stay again - Clean and comfortable Could hear trains and trucks passing at night.
- Sue (8/5): Old world charm with nice breakfast - Old world charm with modern facilities I liked it all
- John (9/5): Lovely. We would definitely come again if the opportunity presents. - Lovely small but very functional breakfast room and kitchenette. We liked that this facilitates social contact with other guests. The building and garden are very pretty.
When the door handle/lock of our booked room malfunctioned our host upgraded us to a better room. This second room was utterly charming. Room 2 was the room we booked and we spent the first night in it. The door knob and lock was unreliable. Also, It was too small for us, and the bathroom was especially tight, so the upgrade to Room 1 was much appreciated.
- John (8/5): -
- Cathy (8/5): - It's a lovely house and v comfortable.
- Katherine (8/5): -
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional quality and comfort !!! Made our 2 night stay / hiking in blackheath extra special - Exceeded expectations - comfortable convenient location and easy access to check in good communication sms and phone contact if needed .wonderful fabulous stocked kitchen with breakfast ingredients all fresh and appetisingly displayed including ready made sandwiches if needed , fruit abd fridge full dairy and fruit juices - quiet , private - sensational!! Nil
- John (8/5): Quiet Guesthouse Stay - Quiet location in guest house The breakfast area cramped and busy in the morning.
- Val (9/5): -
- Faina (10/5): Lovely B&B - Really enjoyed our stay - super comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, beautiful courtyard, lovely decorated, attention to details.
- Denis (7/5): Cosy and comfortable with old fashioned charm that could’ve been the set of an Agatha Christie film. - Cosy and comfortable. The screws falling out of the doorknob to my room.
- Arianna (10/5): Thank you to the hosts who made our stay so very comfortable and pleasurable. Highly recommended. - The charming guest house felt incredibly warm and welcoming, complemented by a beautiful garden. Fresh flowers on every table in the dining area and rooms added a special touch, making the space even more inviting. The rooms were thoughtfully equipped with every comfort one could wish for. The generous breakfast offered an impressive variety and was a delightful surprise, along with the fresh fruit bowl and afternoon tea cakes. It was a pleasure to sit outside, read the paper, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Its central location made everything easily accessible.
- Clare (9/5): It was very conveniently located, quiet, cosy and relaxing. - Breakfast was well organised.I contacted the property to ask if they had lactose free milk, they made sure there was. Very convenient that you could make tea or coffee, have a snack any time. Staff also helpful about fresh towels, lighter blanket.
Great that it was all flat, on one level. Would have liked more hanging possibilities: in the bathroom, for robe, clothes etc, and behind front door, for jackets etc. There was not much shelf space for toiletries in the bathroom
- Matern (10/5): Verblijf was zeer prettig, mooie ruime kamer in oud engelse stijl.
- Chris (8/5): -
- Ning Nan (10/5): -
- Ian (10/5): - Self serve in shared dining room was great. Provisions were excellent.
- Peter (8/5): Smart, clean property with breakfast included. Good value for money. - A very nice, clean property with breakfast included. Period feel without being old fashioned. Comfortable bed. Some/all rooms face gardens / have shared terrace. A little road noise in the morning, nothing troublesome.
- Leigh (10/5): A comfortable, beautiful place to stay in Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. Great value for money. - Location close to Blue Mountains National Park, beautiful historic house & gardens, great value & generous supply of breakfast food with unlimited cake, fruit & coffee all day. Nothing
- JOHN (9/5): - Proximity to Blackheath lookouts and some of best tree-lined streets in autumn colours in the area. Self-service well provisioned breakfasts. Room decor, size and facilities. Very minor discomfort from noisy bathrooms of neighbouring rooms
- Bianca (6/5): - Comfortable bed and good location. Room 2 smelt damp and had no sunlight. Although the pictures of the guest house show lots of lovely gardens, they were fenced off and not accessible. We never met any of the staff so weren’t sure where we could go so just stayed in our room.
- Kalli (8/5): - Proximity to the town- walking distance.
Well stocked communal kitchen.
High tea was a bonus.
Adequate continental breakfast.
- Gary (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - I could see a well stocked kitchen but didnt have time for breakfast.
the house is beautiful, gardens gorgeous and wonderful view from the room .. really loved it and will be back.
- Clayton (9/5): - Beautiful and peaceful - not far from Blackheath shops.
- lyn (9/5): - Lovely old world aesthetic, comfy bed, easy to find,
Beautiful garden surrounds. Quiet. Easy to book and good info provided The bathroom was a bit small to navigate (space to navigate door, basin and toilet)
- Taraterrific (10/5): A quiet, comfortable and relaxing place to stay - It was reasonably close to the station which suited us. It was clean and comfortable and the small problem we had with hot water was dealt with immediately. We had no negative issues at all
- Lynette (8/5): A lovely and typical old fashioned Blue Mts guest house with all mod cons. - Lovely furnishings, comfortable bed, good breakfast, very pretty garden, warm and cosy. No actual person to deal with at the property; no comfy communal lounge where you could chat to other guests (only the breakfast room)
There was a problem with the hot water when we were there but I am sure that will be sorted soon. It would be beneficial to have an information sheet explaining “hidden” things such as the fridge and air con control.
- Therese (7/5): Nice, cosy stay. - Very clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. Good shower. Nice aesthetics. Lots of art, comfortable, cosy. Nice verandah. Good heating in room. Tv access good. The welcome - the owners definitely don’t want to be disturbed with questions. The keys are in lock boxes, which at night are not obvious (looks like a switchboard) and quite high on the wall for a short person. The numbers are not easy to read but please don’t ask for assistance. Traffic noise from the highway can be pretty loud at times. It would be nice to have a cooked breakfast option but the help yourself breakfast options were pretty good. A shower cap in the bathroom would be nice. A sitting room would also be a bonus.
- Jenny (9/5): Lovely boutique hotel - Rowan Brae is a great, small hotel. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room had all the facilities you could hope for: tea/coffee, kettle, hairdryer, iron and the bathroom was well equipped with nice toiletries. The self-service breakfast offered a range of choices to suit everyone (except those that want a full cooked breakfast served to them) and flexibility over timing so you could have breakfast when you wanted it. Our room was at the front so had a veranda outside which would have been lovely had it been a bit warmer while we were there. There was a little noise from the road/railway but not enough to disturb us (even my husband who is easily disturbed!) We had a little trouble finding the hotel. The directions were fine but there was no sign outside (I think they may have recently redecorated the entrance to the car park) so we weren't sure quite where to go. Once a friendly neighbour pointed us in the right direction l, parking was easy. We were a little hesitant about the lack of a proper 'Reception' but found our room key and room easily and had a great stay.
- Katherine (10/5): - Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable bed. Fabulous location for exploring Blackheath
- Elizabeth King (10/5): A very comfortable stay:) - The Breakfast supplies were excellent and we slept very soundly.
- Wyburn (8/5): -
- Heather (8/5): -
- Patrick (7/5): -
- Iona (9/5): Stayed here twice now, and will again I’m sure - Varied breakfast foods
Comfortable area to sit
Relaxing
- Agata (9/5): Would definitely come back again - Wonderful place, full of charm, surrounded by a perfectly manicured garden. The staff is exceptional and the assortment of cakes, teas and treats for afternoon tea and breakfast was such a nice surprise. Highly recommend! The only small issue was not enough pressure in the shower, that’s about it :)
- Michael (9/5): -
- Marian (10/5): Blackheath Gem - Location is amazing to start with, but the property added so many extra touches to make the stay outstanding. The breakfast is very good, the room was lovely, everything was quality, even the toilet paper and tissues! Beautiful gardens and very comfortable dining area. Providing afternoon tea, fruit etc just made it feel a cut above! Well done to the owners 😍 Parking is tight (understandably) so perhaps lined parking bays would help.
- Lina (10/5): - Mysigt lite gammaldags boende med fina rena rum. Smidigt med frukost som stod framme och man kunde ta själv. Lugnt läge ca 10 min promenad från tågstationen.
- Jodie (10/5): A beautiful guest house with lovely staff and excellent facilities. - Quaint guest house. Clean and very comfortable. Beautiful garden. Well stocked kitchen for convenient breakfasts before hiking. Close to Blackheath restaurant and shops.
- Niall (8/5): -
- Johan (10/5): - The location and closeness to the town, very well appointed and the "help" yourself breakfast was excellent Not being introduced to our host, & the rugs in my room, 3, were curled up and was a bit of a trip hazard, as was one in the breakfast room, but no real complaints, as our stay was fabulous
- Jarrett (9/5): -
- FRED (10/5): Excellent historic guesthouse with all modern conveniences. - Fabulous historic building which has been renovated very well and fitted out with period style furniture. Excellent help yourself breakfast and sitting room with very good choice of breakfast cereals, toast and accompaniments. Very quiet despite being close to main road and railway line. Easy walking distance to main street in Blackheath. Breakfast room a bit small for the number of guests that can stay there, although there are outdoor seating areas that can be used depending on the weather.
- Tony (8/5): Comfortable big old house nicely adapted to b&b - Tea and home made cake when we arrived. Good breakfast Comfortable. Parking on site. Easy walk to restaurants for supper. Lovely old big house A bit odd on arrival as no staff visible. But once that was understood everything worked. In the event when the WiFi didn’t work someone did quickly appear and fix it so not really an issue
- David (8/5): -
- Lyndon (8/5): -
- June (10/5): - We really liked the room having access to the courtyard. We also thought the fully stocked kitchenette was genius. Trivial as this may seem the fridge inside the wardrobe constantly turned on and off noisily all night .... we had nothing in the fridge so I turned it off around 11.30pm the slept soundly. I did remember to turn it back on first thing in the morning..
- Lee (10/5): Great value in a lovely setting - Quaint and beautifully furnished with impressive traditional style landscape art collection. Beautiful gardens and generous breakfast - as well as afternoon tea provisions.
- Janette (10/5): - Such a lovely place to stay. Great view of the garden not too far from the station. Nice breakfast "help yourself style" and the host was friendly and helpful Everything was good
- Anna (10/5): -
- thomas (10/5): -
- helen (9/5): Very Relaxing - Heritage feel, quiet, loved the self serve breakfast area.
- Greg (7/5): A pleasant stay in a beautifully restored building. - This is an historic property that has been brought up to date with some real flair. Our room had classic French furniture and there are lots of original paintings on the walls throughout. Beautifully maintained garden. No contact check in procedure. No visible host on the premises. Multiple security cameras.
- Helen (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic breakfast and afternoon tea service which they left out fir you. All self service but works really well. Even an ice machine and plenty of glasses!
- Natasha (9/5): -
- Sue (9/5): excellent - the hertiage feel and ample food for self help breakfast all good
- Phillipa (8/5): Comfortable overnight stay - will be back for a longer stay - Lovely comfortable old guest house with beautiful garden setting
Generous breakfast and snack supplies
Deliciously comfortable bed
Quiet environment Nothing really
- Lauryn (9/5): Beautiful house and room, comfortable and cozy in every way! - Location was perfect for what we had planned for the weekend! The room was beautiful with such a comfortable bed. Had everything we needed. Joel was fantastic, answering our call late at night and helping us out with parking, just sad we never actually got to meet!
- Jeremy (5/5): Adequate. - Location Never even saw the hosts. A very hands off experience.
- Cressida (10/5): -
- John (7/5): -
- BRUCE (9/5): Very enjoyable - Everything was very good, great location
- Ann-Maree (9/5): Pleasant stay in private secluded property. Would stay again and recommend to others - Clean well-kept property with warm & comfortable bedding. Simple access procedure with clear and concise access instructions. Good and effective communication. Limited parking
- Kathryn (10/5): The attention given to us by our host from pre check in to departure was amazing. We felt truly welcomed. - We loved the ambience of the historic guest house with its beautiful furnishings, gardens and plentiful amenities in the room as well as in the shared dining area. The close proximity (easy walking distance) to restaurants, bars was a bonus. There was nothing we did not like.
- Sophia (9/5): -
- fiona (10/5): Beautiful Property and Gorgeous rooms - The room was beautiful and the property and the lovely touches for breakfast and snacks was so wonderful. Definitely recommend.
- Rosemary emma (10/5): - The afternoon tea supplied and kitchen area with goodies for breakfast that you could help yourself.
Attention to detail, even had ice if you wanted a drink. nothing
- Lorraine (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Very comfortable room and facilities The lack of connection with people. No contact other than through messages, which was just different
- Henri Pieter (10/5): -
- Michael (9/5): Lovely Place to stay in Blackheath - Good sized comfortable room and bed.
Bathroom was clean, reasonably sized.
We had Room 5 which had a view of, and access to, the garden area.
The breakfast area was clean. Good self service breakfast. Coffee, cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt. Entry and exit are via a back laneway.
Not a big issue but on a rainy night the front door would have been nicer than the muddy laneway.
- Eddie (10/5): Great stay here. Would come back again - Fabulous hidden gem of a guesthouse in Blackheath perfect location for hiking in the blue mountains. Loved Blackheath as was quiet but enough going on to meet our needs. Guest house was spotless and the owners informed us of checking in before we arrived. Plenty of extra food available which wasn’t expected A little more power in the shower
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceeded expectations - The room was amazing. Softly furnished with old-world charm but with every modern comfort. The bed was great, and the room was well provided for with extra bowls, a kettle, a small fridge, etc.
The ensuite bathroom was very pleasant and made our room our own romantic private space.
This almost wasn't necessary as there is a guest sitting area and kitchenette set up with simple but delicious breakfast options. Like ham, cheese, and tomato muffins, a selection of cereal, toast, spreads, and fruit. There was also a side table set up with various cakes for afternoon tea and tea and coffee facilities.
Outside, the garden is so pretty and added to the charm. Of course, it goes without saying that the Blackheath location is spectacular, too. Being close to so much great hiking, scenic views, and attractions made this a very convenient location.
The whole place was spotlessly clean, and our hosts were very friendly. That we only had time to stay one night. 😭
- White (5/5): Not for us! - Close to town and amenities The room was quite small as was the eating area. I thought it was a bit overpriced for what you got!
- Katerina (8/5): -
- Taylor (8/5): - Gardens were beautiful, bed was very comfortable and very quiet location. Breakfast not to our liking.Too much Carbohydrates not enough variety of fruits yoghurts or cereals.
- Lyn (9/5): Rowan Brae Blue Mountains ⛰️ - Beautiful gardens with provisions to sit outside on the deck and enjoy. Lovely hospitality ( breakfast & afternoon tea) Very comfy bed & good shower. Rooms very private and little noise heard ( only slightly from the road). Access was tricky if you have limited mobility & arrive without a car.
- Michelle (6/5): - Lovely setting, lovely dining area for breaky and afternoon tea.
Clean
Great location I didn't like that a person arrived about 4pm and despite the owner/manager saying to book through booking.com, they then said that they could pay direct and it would be cheaper than online.
I found that disrespectful to a person such as myself who paid online and could hear this statement!
I didn't like that you cannot open a window for natural airflow during the evening. There are now insect screens. It was hot and we had to put on the air-conditioning. Woke up congested.
I loved alot of the decor and all the special attention to making the stay lovely, but we had a lounge in our room with ripped fabric with a blanket drapped over it. I think that is not consistent with the overall standard of the property.
- Erich Krassnig (10/5): -
- Carolina (9/5): Lovely stay in Blackheath - It was a gorgeous place, really sweet. Great sized roon, very comfortable, clean bathroom. The bed - mattress & pillows were super comfortable. TV was nice & big. I am a solo traveller & this was exactly what I was looking for a quick getaway.
- Peter (7/5): - A charming, comfortable and well-equipped guesthouse which would have been excellent were it not for the highway noise from the GWH Highway noise
- Margaret (10/5): Very relaxing in house that is areal stunner. - Beautiful old house and very comfortable room. Gorgeous gardens. Nothing
- Michelle (8/5): -
- Christian (3/5): Nie wieder - Schöner Garten -Sehr laut direkt am Highway
-kein Room Service das Zimmer wurde nicht aufgeräumt
-total anonym, haben die Gastgeber nie gesehen
