- paul (1/5): - After booking with Booking.com, the owners of Smoky Cape Retreat rang me 2 - 3 hours later and said the booking has to be cancelled at owners request because of overbooking by Booking.com. I cancelled immediately as requested, Then I was charged for not turning up, being told I had not cancelled, I explained what had happened saying it was them who said I could not have the requested dates, even producing the email from Booking.com requesting the cancellation, I then received extremely poor customer service from Smoky Cape Retreat, refusal to speak, would not take calls, I would be hung up on or just left on the phone with nobody on the other end, poor response to texts, they wouldn't even give out an email address, after finally speaking to someone at Booking.com, money was returned 2 just days later, after 6 weeks, 6 WEEKS of trying to get any sense out of Smoky Cape Retreat, NEVER AGAIN. Booking.com did their job A1

- Kerry (9/5): -
- Lesley Tomasulo (9/5): -
- David (10/5): - Peaceful location. Shady rooms so not hot. Rather outdated rooms.
- Paul and Georgina (10/5): - Nice quiet location surrounded by bushland and beautiful gardens. The galah bird was very friendly and loved to have a chat and a head scratch. The bed was super comfy as we're the lounges. Best of all there was no traffic noises to keep us awake all night.
- Laura (5/5): I asked for another room and locked the doors and left early. It was over-priced and unpleasant. - The man in the hotel lobby who greeted me was creepy and offered me a room with an internal door into the lobby which he said he’d lock from the other side.
- michelle (9/5): Pleasant 2 night stay. - On first appearance the room seems a little tired but a closer look showed it is a very comfortable room with a lot of room. Large bathroom, large bed and bedroom, room for clothes. Nice and quiet. Ken was friendly and there to meet us at night. A bit tired. Property in forest setting requires a lot of up keep. Location may be out of the way for some.
- NERRYLL (8/5): Although a bit dated the surroundings were excellent. We wanted a place that was quiet and it was. - The room was clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed in the room and access to a swimming pool, gazebo with cooking facilities and we had a very pleasant stay. The smoke alarm going off at 1.30 am
- Amina (10/5): -
- Adam (9/5): -
- Geoff (7/5): -
- Martin (8/5): - The host, Ken, was a nice bloke and very accommodating, he saw I had an injured leg so moved me into a larger room with big soft armchairs, which was nice. The remote for the TV was annoying as you had to stand very close and point in a very particular spot for it to work.
- Rachael (8/5): -
- Marlene (9/5): - just a few hairs in the bathroom but otherwise very nice and clean
- Christopher (10/5): - Bed is comfy
- Craig (8/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): - Very spacious..peaceful and quiet
- sandra (8/5): -
- Erin (10/5): Will return, was a lovely escape. - The owners/managers were very welcoming
- Joanne (8/5): Whisper quiet location, just minutes from the beach - Quiet location, just a short drive from Trial Bay Gaol and beautiful beaches Rooms were very spacious, with one of the largest bathrooms I've ever seen! Very comfortable bed, with plenty of wardrobe and luggage space. Owner was very friendly and accommodating, giving us a tour of the property. Nothing!
- Michelle (5/5): - Bed was comfortable Good position Whole place needs a good refresh. I wouldn’t call it a retreat. May of been back when it was built. Cob webs everywhere in room. Sheets were old thin & had stains on them.
Owner was friendly but his clothes weren’t clean. We didn’t receive a key. Lucky we only wanted to sleep & go.
- Anne (10/5): -
- Frank (10/5): -
- Roger (10/5): It was a fantastic relaxing Holliday - It was very secluded and peaceful
- Jeremy (8/5): -
- Janelle (4/5): Very outdated room - Secluded amongst the bush The room was very outdated, the sheets were clean however the comforter on the bed was stained and had mould stains. There were cockroaches throughout
- Zak (10/5): Only stayed for 1 night due to travelling, Ken really made us feel at home and gave us plenty of recommendations. We wis - Great location and peaceful.
- Kellie (10/5): - The cosiness, location n staff.
- Meg (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing stay - We loved this place. The environment and serenity, the cooking area and pool were all amazing. We only met one of the owners but he was lovely. The people that own the place obviously put a lot of time and care into maintaining a peaceful and relaxing space.
- Hannah (10/5): A real hidden treasure sure to make you feel at home. - I interacted with Ken, one of the property owners. He really made us feel comfortable and welcome. You could feel the love he has for hood property and his town. The room was very clean and comfortable and it was really reasonably priced, and a great location. Our dog was also enthusiastically welcomed. Nothing.
- John (10/5): -
- Karen (7/5): Perfect for us and our small dog - A great location room was very spacious Everything was great would love a little kitchenette so We didn’t have to wash up in the bathroom sink
- Eva Maria (1/5): - Gar nichts..wir wurden rausgeschmissen..weil das Zimmer angeblich anderweitig vermietet war.....Kritik motel

- Nicky (8/5): -
- Ron (6/5): - The location
- Teagan (10/5): - Quiet tidy property, friendly owner, dog friendly!!!
- Daniella (9/5): -
- Ruarrii (3/5): Very disappointing and I’d have left early if id been able to - It’s in a lovely quiet location and the gardens are lovely The host was friendly enough but not very helpful and a little creepy. The property was not clean - from glasses and cups to the bathroom and the swimming pool. The pool was not appropriately fenced. It was impossible to close the screen doors which allowed lots of insects into the room, including multiple wasps - this meant solely relying on the air con rather than the breeze. It is also extremely difficult to have the blinds closed when out of the room, so anyone going past can see into the room when you’re not in it. Overall I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe.
- Bassett (10/5): Very nice and welcoming staff who made us feel at home, comfortable and big rooms well setup, in a great position just o - Comfortable, affordable, close to town
- Deane (9/5): -
- Rosemary (10/5): A rare find! Beautiful setting and rooms. Thank you Ken and Mary. - Beautiful garden and rooms.
- Scott (9/5): Retreat reset recharge - Excellent welcoming hosts. So quiet. Lovely pool and the outdoor availability to cook was tremendous I'd suggest a microwave in the suite
- Isabella (10/5): -
- Kim (9/5): Beautiful location, comfy and very roomy accomodation. Lovely aspect. - Ken and Mary were warm and welcoming upon my arrival. The locks were a bit hard to get working.
- Helen (9/5): quite suitable for the event I attended. - quiet and peaceful surroundings being able to tell (smell) there had been pets stay in the room.
- Rodney (8/5): Owners were very friendly and helpful - Loved the spa bath room was very large and comfy
Owners were lovely. We are staying again in February and they showed us several rooms to choose from
Very quiet at night Our room faced the parking space so lights shinning into the room wasn't a ideal
- Chris (9/5): -
- Sopheia (9/5): Our stay - Would recommend to family and friends warm and welcoming 🙏 All good
- Simone (9/5): If we visit South West Rocks again - I would stay in the same accomodation. - The property is very quiet, but still only 5 min drive into South West Rocks. The rooms are very private with outdoor seating on both sides of the bedroom which was really nice. There are also BBQ and cooking facilities in a rotunda near the swimming pool. We didn't use this, but this would be great if you were staying for a few days. Nothing
- Rebecca (9/5): Very relaxing and peaceful - Everything! The welcoming owners and galah, beautiful plants and gardens, quiet, private, comfortable and homely. Not much. Mugs rather than coffee cups for us big tea drinkers!
- Aaron (10/5): Loved it, would definitely come back, would definitely recommend to friends - Friendly staff, great hospitality and were very helpful. Quick drive to anywhere around but far enough away to be quiet and in a beautiful location The bed was uncomfortable and a bit small to me
- Fera (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Characterful and comfortable accommodation with very kind and welcoming hosts. - Huge room and bathroom, very comfy bed, great shower and generous welcoming hosts. The outdoor space/gardens and communal kitchen were also a bonus.
- Tim (7/5): Great location stay - Great location and lots of lovely gardens All was good.
- Kellie (10/5): Quaint, quiet, convenient with all the essentials. - Easy to get to and was just like the pictures indicated. Owner was friendly and explained everything well. Loved the spacious room and bathroom that had all I needed for the night. I’ll happily come back. Right near the lighthouse for a spectacular view and wildlife galore.
- Ken (10/5): -
- Bronwyn (9/5): - The bed was so comfortable. Large room, clean and loved the shared kitchen area. Everything u need was there Just a suggestion - power boards with hdmi or a wall socket to recharge mobile phone.
