Guest Reviews
- Ria (8/5): - The place had a great view of the mountain! Carol, our host, was super gracious to leave breakfast supplies such as cereals, bread, milk and eggs. She was prompt to help us with any issues we faced. The house was well-equipped and we had a good stay.
- Annie (8/5): Majestic view - A majestic view
- Jennifer (10/5): - Location was excellent, stunning views and accommodation very well equipped.
- Gemma (7/5): - Beautiful view, three bedrooms, a spa bath and full kitchen so good for a family. Carol was friendly and relaxed.
- Catherine Lengyel (8/5): Great spacious apartment close to town center with lovely view of mt warning - Spacious close to town centre Disappointing that spa bath not working and no internet which i hadn’t realised prior to arrival
- jessica (10/5): - The beautiful view of the mountains!!
- Marilyn (1/5): Long-term Mould - Health Concerns - Neat and tidy. We could not stay at the property.
We booked in good faith, house images looked lovely. However when we arrived at the property immediately we experienced an overpowering smell of long term and entrenched mould problems in the entire apartment. We opened all windows and put heating on to try to help with ventilation. We left the keys and left the apartment, advising the Owner and this site.
We realise because owner resides in this property (also not clear in the description that owner is upstairs) that you may be accustomed to this odour and unaware of its intensity. One of our party is allergic to mould. He experienced an almost instantaneous headache , coughing and wheezing . We opened all the windows we could and put on the heating to see if that would help but he continued to feel ill.
We hope the owner has an expert visit the home to make an assessment to assist with this problem.
No dedicated car parking for guests.
- Dane (9/5): Extraordinary views to local mountains, forest surroundings in a very liveable house. - Remarkable unique views of the Tweed Valley's most iconic landmark: Wollumbin peak (aka Mt Warning) & the three sister peaks. Close to friendly & interesting Uki village. The accommodation is in lovely garden setting as a part of the beauty of expansive forest environment. The "Fun Times" building conjured up thoughts of a forest/ bush temple with 3 bedrooms for max of 5 people. It is a cordial & relaxed stay, attributable to our host and the location that lends itself to some timeless moments! needed to have a personal spray or roll-on to repel mosquitoes and the March flies
- Louise (8/5): Nice, simple, quiet, bush stay - Tidy unit, downstairs from main house. Is an older style place however cosy for our needs. Fully equipped with all kitchen and bathroom amenities.
Simple breakfast provided which suited us.
Great location, close to Main Street and far enough away for a quiet retreat.
No wifi or phone service inside unit which is perfect to switch off.
- Gabriella (10/5): - The location and view are spectacular

- MARK (9/5): All expectations met or exceedewd, will definitely return for a longer stay. - The location met all expectations of a beautiful part of the world. Our host Carol was attentive, even to pocket dials at inconvenient hours, and our every want met. Will return with the intention to stay longer.
- Julie (1/5): DISGUSTING - Nice ornaments in the garden, other than that, nothing....
The worst accommodation, with the worst host.
The minute we walked through the door, the smell of dampness and mould hit us like a ton of bricks. The heater and a dehumidifier were on. I dry-reached, that is how bad it was.
We then noticed how dirty the place was. Cobwebs everywhere, pubic hair and long black hair in the shower. Spa and Wi-Fi not working. The microwave was so disgusting, there is no way we would use it. Also, the most disgusting used and dirty sponge scourer for washing dishes. Anyway, I thought I would not say anything, as you never know what a person is going through. We went out early on the 30th of May and returned around 2.30pm. I had a shower and jumped into my PJ’s. My neighbour, Craig and I started to watch TV, when we received a knock on the screen door. It was Carol, the owner. The first thing she said is “you have the door open with the heater going”. I said “that is because of the terrible smell in here”. Carol said “What smell, I can’t smell anything”. I said, “I understand that it is hinterland and gets very humid. I was not going to complain about it”. Well Carol would have none of that. She came in and we showed her the microwave, shower and got her to walk through the whole apartment, so she could smell what we smelt. I sat down and she said, “find somewhere else to stay and I will refund your money”. I said, “where are we going to go”? It was after 3pm by now. Carol said, “it is off-peak so there are plenty of places to stay”. It is not that easy, as we need 2 bedrooms, 1 for me and 1 for my neighbour. As I was searching Carol yelled from her balcony, “what are you doing, hurry up as the longer you are here, the less refund you get”. We threw our stuff in our cases and left. The story continues below..... I unpacked the next day and noticed I had left stuff behind. I sent Carol a message via Booking.com. Long story short, we met Carol outside a store in Uki on Saturday the 1st of June, as she said she was not available on the Friday. With that, we saw Carol and parked the car. When I walked up to her, she didn’t recognise me and was bagging me to the shop owner. I looked at her and she said “oh”. Carol handed me a Woolworths plastic bag and began to walk off. I said “what about all my hair products”, she responded “that is all there is” and walked into the shop. As well as driving back to Uki, which was out of our way, I did not receive most of my stuff back! On the 2nd of June, I sent Carol a message, via Booking.com.
I wrote: Thank you for returning some of my items. However, in the bathroom cabinet, there is over $100 worth of hair products. Anyway, it's too late to get that now, but I am following up on the refund you promised when you kicked us out. When are you going to make the transfer? Regards Jules
Carol never responded. I put a complaint into Booking.com and she totally lied. Her story was all over the place. Even though I thought the 3 nights should of been returned, due to the inconvenience, time and stress, I asked for the 2 nights to be refunded, which was $360.00. Well Carol declined to give us any money back. We only left because she promised to give us a refund. Therefore, in total we paid $885.60 for 3 nights accommodation. Carol received $540.00 and we paid $345.60 for two nights at Sweetwater Cottage, which was a lovely place. I am a seasoned traveller and have NEVER been 'kicked out' of any accommodation. Because Carol lied to Booking.com, I have to look at other avenues, ie Fair Trading NSW and NCAT.
Carol is a liar, a thief and an unscrupulous woman.
DO NOT STAY AT 'FUN TIMES'. I WOULD RENAME IT 'SKANKY TIMES'.......
Response to Carol - I had no alcohol and drove to our next accommodation!
- Gwenda (8/5): Quiet safe location and very friendly host - Host provided plunger coffee and everything needed make breakfast.
Very quiet location with magic view of the mountain.
Town not far away with evening meal available at hotel. Internet patchy but this is not the hosts fault.
- Vinay Sharma (5/5): -
- Sonia (5/5): Beautiful property, unprofessional host. - The view from the front door of the property is stunning. A great location for visiting the Northern Rivers. The host resides upstairs, she arrived home at 3am and stomped around upstairs for over an hour and woke my children and I!
Also, the host allowed me to change dates from my initial booking, (which I was extremely grateful for) and I explained that the booking would no longer just be 2 people and that with the changed dates my family would be traveling with me. This was disregarded and just hours prior to my arrival at the property the host called and said to me that I would have to pay $180 excess for my 2 children to stay! The entire experience was extremely distressing so we decided to cut our stay short, woke early after our first night and left.
Just as a side note, although the accommodation was quite tidy there were some stains on one of the beds, an old Band-Aid wrapper on the bedside dresser in another room, a lot of dead bugs and spiders in corners, and in the drain of the kitchen sink there was what appeared to be a chunk of old meat.
- Brad (7/5): -
- Benjamin (1/5): - Smelled like mould. Nothing in the add indicated this was the downstairs to someone's house. Looks much nicer in the pictures
- Joel (5/5): Very 80s needs maintenance - The view to the mountain That the owner was upstairs . You couldn’t lock up the house properly . The shower screen was missing a panel . You had to park down the hill so when it was raining was a big inconvenience. Very dated didn’t seem electrically safe with double adaptors .
- leann (9/5): -
- Murphy (9/5): I would like more time to explore around the area as I only stayed one night. -
- Kim (5/5): Beautiful location - Bed comfortable
Shower good Half used tub of butter.
Half used loaves left in freezer.
Dirty fridge.
Microwave and oven filthy.
- Jess (10/5): Beautiful, cozy and amazing! - The view from our apartment was beautiful, amazing garden and a fantastic view of the mountain. We feel very lucky to have experienced staying here as it felt like a home away from home and it was truly peaceful. Great location to the local cafes also! The host Carol is so lovely and accommodating, she really went out of her way to help us out.
- Alicia (9/5): -
- Sonia (10/5): Perfect Uki location - Spectacular views of Mount Warning and peaceful location.
- Linda (8/5): - Million dollar location, quiet, comfortable, spacious, lovely host, very accommodating. loved the little touches like coloured lights and quirky decorations Nothing really, sorry I didn't get to use the spa bath and couldn't stay longer. It will be my destination of choice next time I'm over to see my kids.
- Janet (8/5): Great location - Location fantastic didn’t eat the breakfast Could have been cleaner. Sheets were stained
- Julie (7/5): perfectly positioned, adequate with very accomodating host - location, size, atmosphere, quiet spiders, bugs (can’t be helped though!) TV on above at night
- Margaret (8/5): - Lovely view.
Large living area. Comfortable sofa. On a slope, so not good if you like being on the flat, but I didn't mind.
- Chris (10/5): A private stay with Great views of the mountains. A lovely place to unwind. The owner is also quite friendly. - Quiet, surrounded by rainforest & close to village. nothing at all
