Guest Reviews
- carmela (9/5): - Posizione ideale per spostarsi
- Calkin (10/5): I'm so glad that I stayed at this apartment! - This was a lovely apartment, just off Quinpool St, which is where I wanted to stay. Great location and wonderful place!
- Joan (1/5): We didn't stay. Could not access the property information or reach the owner or booking.com. - Nothing -- We didn't get to stay there. Long story that's already in the records. I could have picked a different place
- Carolyn (10/5): Clean, quiet and well located - The suite was exceptionally clean and well appointed. It is in situated in a lovely, quiet neighborhood and very walkable. We thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and convenience.
- Bob (9/5): Large apartment with everything we needed. Very quiet. Easy access to public transport. -
- Lois (6/5): For the price I would probably look elsewhere next time. - Provided lots of towels. It was hard to keep the place warm. The futon is not acceptable as a bed. The living room setup is not comfortable. Needs a new can opener. The bathroom is very small.
- Rita Chiara (6/5): -
- He (10/5): It’s great and thanks for the hosting - Near to the city center but quite, spacious and affordable
- Karen. (8/5): - Die Lage in einer ruhigen Wohngegend ist optimal. Gleich um die Ecke gibt es ein nettes Frühstückslokal und man ist in 30 Minuten zu Fuß an der Zitadelle. Es ist etwas teuer.
- Ira (8/5): A comfortable place to abandon the car and see Halifax on foot - A peaceful and central location for accessing Halifax and the surrounding town centres
- Cynthia (9/5): -
- JoAnne (8/5): The host was very quick to respond and even had a brand new blender ordered for us upon request. - Very clean and close to everything in a nice neighborhood.
- Ruchita (10/5): -
- Gregory (10/5): Very relaxing and really enjoyed myself - Very comfortable beds. Staff was very nice to us - amazing. Thank you! :) Just the ceilings were a bit low... that's about all.
- Picotte (10/5): Wonderful week in Halifax - The house was great! The owner accommodated us so much we were speechless. I would gladly recommend to everyone that goes to Halifax!
- Thomas (8/5): Beautiful place and great location but noisy at times - Easy self check in/out and owner communicated well. Amazing refurbished basement apartment with wood floors, everything new. A lot of space for two people with living room, kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom and walk-in closet. Full size fridge with organic grocery store nearby so can stock up with snacks and breakfast food. No oven but a one burner electric heat pad, toaster oven and microwave. Most of the reviews were for the two bedroom suite up above. This is in the basement so with that comes a low ceiling entrance and a low beam in the living room. If you’re over 6’ you’ll hit your head continuously! Also, you can hear all the foot traffic, movement of furniture and washing machine if in use. Bring ear plugs but if you’re a light sleeper or want peace and quiet, look at the upper rental instead.
- Giorgia (8/5): - Cozy and clean place with large and reasonably comfortable beds. Cute tearoom, good for making tea but not much else. Plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Located in a lovely and quiet area, a nice walk away from downtown Halifax. One of the carpets in one of the bedroom was extremely slippery and dangerous. If you are not short, the shower/bathtub is not the most comfortable. Very strange request from the owner to put the bed sheets (!) in the bathtub before leaving - never seen before as this should be part of the bare minimum service normally included.
- Lindsay (9/5): Clean, comfortable spot to stay in Halifax! - Easy to find with parking included. Access was easy and the host was very helpful and responsive. Everything was very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Air conditioning was greatly welcomed on the very hot days we spent in Halifax. We only used 1 room upstairs but great value for people needing 2 rooms. The small kitchen area was nice too although we didn’t really need to use it. Nice to have a mini fridge. The bathroom was clean and bright. The location was a short walk to a convenience store and a couple of breakfast places and a Tim Hortons. Also close to a main bus route to talk to down to the Harbour. The shower head is quite short so we had to crouch to put head under the shower. We are both 5’10. Not the end of the world though.
- Antje (8/5): - The suite is located in a cosy old house. The 2 bedrooms are comfortable, you have access to a niche little garden terrace.
The area is quiet but also close to the city centre, that we liked very much. For dinner you find a lot of restaurants, from different nations, eg. Greek or Korean within walking distance.
The owner is very friendly and helpful. The place for sitting, when you come home from a long day visiting the city could be more comfortable.
- William (9/5): Superb - Spacious
- Stuart (9/5): Ideally situated, spotlessly clean and with very comfortable beds in air conditioned bedrooms, this is an ideal place fo - Ideal location in a lovely, quiet residential street, the property is ideally situated for the Halifax area. Within walking distance of a few fast food outlets and a lively bar. The property is spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable. A great short stay. The tea/coffee making room has a microwave - which is also the only way to heat water. Perhaps a mains kettle would be useful.
- Marwa (10/5): Amazing - Cozy house
The owners are very lovely and kind, they helped a lot and were available for any Questions.
The location is really good
Quiet neighborhood
- Julie (9/5): Great - It was clean, quiet & comfortable. It was close to the location of my event. There was only one sink & it’s located in the bathroom.
- Ina (8/5): It was a comfortable place to stay, in a quiet neighbourhood but close to downtown. - We appreciated being able to check in early, since we had come in to Halifax on an overnight flight from Vancouver, and were pretty tired. Li was also very helpful to make up a second bed in the living area when she saw we were not a couple but mother/daughter.
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - Plenty of room. The bed was comfortable. We were given the wrong door code. Fortunately this was quickly rectified with a phone call.
- Ross (8/5): A very decent option just around the corner from the world famous Ardmore breakfast diner. - The facilities were exact as advertised. It was surprisingly large and very clean.
- Michael (5/5): Passable -
- Joanne (9/5): A bit pricey after all the taxes, but very quiet, comfortable accommodation not far from downtown. - There was no breakfast provided, but I did enjoy the coffee.
I only had to walk a couple of blocks to get some breakfast and there is an awesome Organics Food store nearby.
Walking distance to pretty much anywhere we wanted to get to in Halifax.
Very comfy beds, quiet area, I was able to catch up on some sleep!
Host is very friendly, eager to help. I felt that the water wasn't hot enough for a nice tub soak.
There is no kitchen sink, which I guess was mentioned in the description of the place.
At first glance the cost advertised per night looked very reasonable, however the various taxes added almost 30% to the final total!
- Jodie (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location in a gorgeous area.
- Tristan (10/5): Exceptional - Location is perfect. Property is comfortable and inviting.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (9/5): Excellent location in a great neighborhood - The host was very responsive, thoughtful and accommodating to our needs.
- Michal (10/5): Exceptional - The house was very comfortable and cute, on a very quiet street but right next to a main street with buses, shops, restaurants etc. Everything was squeaky clean. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Anne (9/5): Superb - Cute, comfortable, old house. They have done great job of fixing it up. We loved the tea/coffee room. It's an old house, so not as many outlets as we are used to having.
- Kathy (10/5): Exceptional - Home was located in a quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to restaurants.
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (7/5): We enjoyed our stay and host. - Nice size bedrooms. Comfortable beds. Nicely decorated. Our host was exceptional and very helpful. The kitchen was not equipped with sink and stove top. Refrigerator was in the bedroom.
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Donald (7/5): Good -
- Terry (7/5): It had everything you needed but no extras that make the stay easy and nice. - The location is hard to beat for access to all areas of Halifax and the surrounding areas. Parking off the street. There is no place to relax and discuss the day and hostess didn’t return my call with questions. Spartan is what comes to mind.
- Burmeister (7/5): Good - Lovely street, very convenient. Lack of kitchen facilities- no fridge or water in kitchen area (fridge in bedroom)..
- Tom (8/5): All good would stay again - Clean accessible and quiet location Nothing
- Tuki (9/5): Superb -
- Kristi (8/5): Enjoyable, comfortable and in a great location. We would love to come back one day. - The title is true. This was a great location. We walked everywhere… except to Peggy’s Cove. I wish it had a more comfortable sitting area to hang out when we got home in the evening but that is a minor issue.
- Charles (6/5): Pleasant - Location was great. The kitchen doesn’t have a sink or real dishes or cutlery. There’s a mini fridge but it’s in one of the bedrooms I stead of the kitchen.
- Ester (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (10/5): Great stay! - Great location, comfortable space, very accommodating host.
- Deanne (9/5): Excellent - The host communicated quickly with us and frequently. I always knew she was just a text away if we needed anything
- Kristina (10/5): Excellent location, very comfortable room. - Location was great! Walking distance to many shops, also very close to the heart of the city and very convenient. Clean and cozy room, all amenities as described. I very much enjoyed my stay here.
- Carol (9/5): Very comfortable stay - The bedroom was excellent and the bed and the bedding was very comfortable .The bathroom was very clean and the amount of beautiful towels was fantastic! The kitchen was fully stocked! The futon in the bedroom was an bonus extra spot to sit and the walk in cupboards were awesome. 🙂 There should be curtains on the kitchen window for privacy. The couch in the living room is very small, but the chairs and footstools were comfortable.
- Debbie (7/5): Good value, great location and very prompt communication by owner - Owner very nice and helpful. Very spacious property with all the amenities you need.
- Phillip (6/5): Nice and close to restaurants, bars, and recreation grounds. A 10 min bus ride to the city - kitchen was good. We bought our own food and appliances worked well. Fridge, cook top, cutlery, crockery all in very good condition. Underground, and potentially damp - although as it happened it was warm weather and the dampness didn't infiltrate
- Jan (9/5): Can't wait to go back!! Love Halifax, love the people - I was in Halifax for a week to attend a yoga training program. I was hoping for a safe, clean , quiet place and that is exactly what I got! The space was perfect for me and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. The hosts are so friendly, kind and generous with their offerings. the location was a 25 minute beautiful walk to where my course was being held. I had the upstairs suite which was perfect for me and the little dining table allowed me to spread out my books and do my homework. Neighbourhood of old trees and an organic food store just around the corner. Perfection!! It was so hot that week in Halifax, I would have preferred to have the windows open than have the air con on, but that has nothing to do with the host or the house :)
- Kristina (10/5): Clean and spacious bedroom, I really enjoyed my stay. - Clean and spacious.
- Errol (10/5): This is the best place to stay when visiting Halifax. - The property is located on a lovely quiet street in a residential neighborhood. Staying here made it feel as though I was living in Halifax for a few days rather than visiting as a tourist which is how one feels when staying in a hotel in a bustling urban environment. There are also lots of restaurants and cafes nearby that one can walk to and the city center is only a ten-minute drive away. The property is also very well appointed and very comfortable. There isn’t anything I didn’t like about the property.
- Patricia (10/5): Great location. Wonderful responsive host. - Wonderful location. It was well equipped with lots of space.
- Rosanne (8/5): Very clean basement apartment in beautiful neighborhood - Very clean and roomy
10 minute drive to downtown
Very nice neighborhood Did not have a full length mirror
A little musty
- Rya (9/5): Comfortable, clean nice room in a safe area near a lot of restaurants lots of - We stayed in the basement apartment which was huge, clean and comfortable. The hostess was kind and accommodating and could not be better. While the room was wonderful, I did think that finding out about the $80 housekeeping fee (very high I think) only after having reserved the room (Booking.com’s fault) was unfair, as was being charged by the owner for the Bookng’s marketing fee was unfair. All costs should be shared with the room rate, so an informed decision can be made.
- Wen (1/5): Bad - Lots of roadside parking Owner was trying to manipulate us from using either heat or a/c. It is understandable that we have to use the same setting within our rental unit, but they further requested us to use the same setting as another tenant living at basement unit after the first night with a bad attitude. They assumed that just because we are from a tropical country we should be "afraid of cold" and ask us to use heat only. It is ridiculous. The owner even said we "taught them a lesson" which is pretry outragous. Traveller should be aware of this and keep this in mind when renting the unit.
- Dave (4/5): Disappointing - This needs to be featured as a basement apartment. It is pure basement. Dead bugs on the floor, and somewhat musty but the landlady was nice and tried hard to make our stay comfortable. Bed was very good and fresh air come in the window over the bed which was very nice. Lots of room and good location so if you don't mind a basement unit you will be fine. We thought it was a 1st floor apartment but we did book last minute and did not study everything closely-so we take some of the blame. However my view is that it should be very clear in the ad that you are getting a basement unit. i also think it was overpriced, at 125-145 it would be an ok value, not 200 plus.
- Sara (9/5): Superb - Great location and communication from hosts. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Everything as described. Would definitely stay again.
- Yizhou (9/5): Superb - decent price/ nice location
- Barbara (8/5): Enjoyed having a comfortable well located place to be our base while exploring Halifax - Excellent location and the beds were very comfortable, great for exploring Halifax! A sink in tea room to tidy up dishes, a sitting area would have been awesome but understand the space.
- Douglas (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was not included but there was a good kitchenette where we were able to prepare coffee which was provided.
The best feature is the location, its proximity to many interesting city centre highlights. A fellow 85-year old traveller found the stairs a little slippery without shoes. Also, the outside steps seem a little narrow and could be trimmed back for safety in climbing and descending.
- Anonymous (9/5): Great hosts! Nice location. - Conveniently located. The host was super friendly and helpful. My only issue was that I wasn’t made aware how to log into the wifi.
- Joanne (8/5): A spacious stay in a great location - Comfy Stay was very well appointed. There were plenty of towels, and some nice extras in the bathroom like razors, shower caps, and huge bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The pantry contained some basics like salt and pepper and olive oil. We were guests during Hurricane Lee, and our host ensured that we had a hurricane lamp in case of a power outage (which did occur). This was thoughtful and appreciated.
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (7/5): Good - Location, comfy beds No cooking facilities
- Jay (10/5): Exceptional - Great location! Very quiet and safe neighborhood. Most all of, very friendly host. Definitely stay here again!
- Artur (10/5): Great place for a getaway in Halifax - Great location, very safe area, spacious apartment, good price and very friendly and caring host Yi.
Check in was super easy as well The kitchen could be more functional, but for out trip it was enough.
- Tanja (8/5): a good place to visit Halifax - The location of the apartment is on a quiet street and centrally located. Close to shopping and dining.
The care provided by the owner was very accommodating, helpful and kind. Cleanliness is always one of those things. We have a very high standard and can't compare it with Switzerland.
When we travel, we have to get used to the fact that it is not so clean everywhere. That's ok too.
The predecessor of this apartment did not take it so seriously with the washing dishes. The microwave also needed a cleaning.
It was also poorly sound- proofed
All in all, it was ok.
- Tamara (7/5): Comfortable, clean rooms in a lovely neighbourhood! - The location was good. Great to be within walking distance of places to eat etc. We could also walk to the downtown though a bit of a hike in the summer heat. Great to have individual cooling in each room and the little kitchenette was great to have. Everything was very clean though the shower curtain could use replacement due to some mildew. The house is located in a lovely neighbourhood where people were quite friendly. We weren't aware that the upstairs unit did not have a door separating it from the downstairs units but we got used to it and we didn't have any problems at all.
- Diane (9/5): Great location, comfortable spaces , clean and well kept - It was a nice central location. Rooms were a good size and beds were comfortable Would have been great to have a sink in the tea room to wash our dishes.
- Freshia (9/5): Superb -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Sahar (9/5): I love this place I recommend for everyone coming to Halifax - It is clean
In quite place Every thing was perfect
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Great communication with the host, everything was satisfactory, not too far from the center, very quiet and good location, top room and bathroom facilities, own kitchen
good value for money
can definitely recommend the accommodation nothing
- Janet (9/5): Superb - Very quiet location
Lots of amenities close by
We took the bus multiple times as it was easily accessible rather than drive
We enjoyed our dinner from the king of donair restaurant that was nearby
Generous on toiletries and kitchen supplies, including sanitizing wipes. Overall, it was a pleasant and very comfortable stay. I would highly recommend it.
The host was very kind and helpful upon our arrival
- Weichman (10/5): Exceptional - Cheaper than a hotel, nicer than a hotel, well situated.
- Constantin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - location and quiet, safe area the additional fees through booking.com added for total cost. would have stayed elsewhere if not for location
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Penny (5/5): Cheaper than a hotel room. - This basement apartment was the closest lodging to my daughter , which is why I picked it. The apartment has poor clearance and I am only 5 foot 3. There are unfinished piping areas that are not enclosed overhead probably due to the poor clearances and open areas of drywall, ceiling and toilet area.. There is mold in the bathroom. The caulking needs to be replaced. There is not a full kitchen, no stove. I had planned on cooking a meal for my daughter but could not.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional - Super cozy place in a great area! Communication with the hosts is perfect. Would definitely recommend going :)
- Lauchlan (10/5): Exceptional - great spot! would stay again for sure!
- Murielle (7/5): It was an acceptable rental - no regrets! - location; quiet neighbourhood; pleasant and very helpful host; well stocked with items; beds were not extremely comfy - personal choice / fridge was not super clean
- Shaul (8/5): Good now, will be great soon - Very clean, great location, quiet and safe neighborhood, and plenty parking.
Good AC/heat system, as well as two efficient de-humidifiers The owners are aware of some issues with damp/mold and are working to mitigate those. Same is true for some noisy appliances.
- Samuel (7/5): good -
- Kathy (9/5): A cozy, convenient place to stay with owners that have your back. - The communication, both directly with the owner as well as Booking.com was exceptional. They took the initiative in how to best navigate through the process of re-booking due to Hurricane Fiona. I was informed promptly when the power and wifi was restored and compensated fairly for the gaps due to the hurricane. It was reassuring to know that my queries during and after the hurricane we’re top of mind. At no time was I left hanging and wondering when someone would get back to me.
The rental itself was charming and comfy. Centrally located in a great neighbourhood, I was minutes away from all the attractions of Halifax. If I were to return to Halifax, I would re-book at Comfy Stay without hesitation. Hurricane Fiona!
- Donna (9/5): Very spacious property with two bedrooms and one bathroom sitting area.Beds were super comfortable! -
- James (9/5): Superb - Convenient location to restaurants. The stairs going down into the room were a little awkward. But we managed.
- Donna (9/5): Superb - Very clean and very close to everything. I had not realized that the house was 3 separate units from looking at the photos, but the descriptions provided more clarity.
