Guest Reviews

- Paulina (10/5): Great view in peaceful environment - Very very friendly staff, super nice view from the pool, very Peaceful atmosphere with animals around, organization of tours - nothing important, maybe organic shampoo would be nice
- Bart (9/5): Superb - Nice quiet place in the desert, some 20 minutes by car from town, 5 minutes from the main road. Great breakfast, a pool overlooking the desert, nice beds. You need a car to get there, bathroom could be bigger.
- Barbora (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely wonderful place. The location is quite remote, so it's very quiet, the only thing you hear are birds! And yes, it's an absolute paradise for birdwatching! The owner is really lovely and she takes great care of her guests. The breakfast is delicious, you can also buy dinner, and they sell water, sodas, beer and some snacks. My room was a really cute and beautifully decorated cabin with my own patio (with table and chairs). The wifi works surprisingly really well, plus, Claro has a signal there. You can easily walk to the red desert trail. Can recommend for 100%!!! I loved everything.
- Milton (9/5): Superb -

- Nenagh (7/5): Very remote and simple, but still nice - Rooms were lovely, pool was nice and clean. Amazing view of the night skies. Food on site was ok, standard Colombian food. Host arranged a tour for us through the deserts which was great. Quite far away from all the other places so you’re stuck eating the food served here, although nice, it is very plain. Lots of bugs get into the rooms but they do provide nets over beds. 2 angry geese roam around and make quite alot of noise. They will hiss and chase you, and sit outside your room honking at 5am. Host offered us drinking water, but then charged us for them when we checked out. No other option for drinking water.
- Alejandro (8/5): Good value for money - Clean, with nice pool and great location. Good value for money The listing says it is possible to pay with credit card but on site only colombian cards are accepted, we had a to pay for the room with cash in the end.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - Calm and beautiful environment. Swimmingpool is relieving under high temperature conditions. Energy is provided by solar system. Restaurant was not available for lunch time and the location is a bit distant from other options. There are no possibility of refilling water bottles.
- Kistiñe (8/5): Very good - Good location, nice room and area. Comfy beds. Cold water in the shower, but bearable as it was really hot outside
- Louise (8/5): basic facilities as expected in the desert but as advertised - swimming pool, owner organised taxis for us, good location for seeing stars at night isolated from the rest of the desert facilities, 30 min walk to main road, couldn’t always get transport, dependent on the owner to organise for us, filtered drinking water made us sick so drink bottled water
- Edith (8/5): Very good -
- Travelbonkers44 (10/5): Incredible stay in the heart of Tatacoa - Absolutely fantastic property but you need to have the right expectations. The water and electricity are scarce. The accomodation is rustic and has open holes close to the roof so creepy crawlies can be encountered and obviously sound proofing is not the best. But the location is incredible, very close to the "red zone" of Tatacoa and the observatories. Our cottages were spotless and the hotel is well maintained and secure. The food was delicious and we enjoyed hanging out in the open restaurant having a few beers at night. The value for money was excellent and we would definitely visit again.
- Oliver (8/5): Very good -
- Tiffany (8/5): We had a nice and relaxing stay! - It was a peaceful place to stay at in the middle of the desert, so you can fully enjoy the tranquility of the environment. If it rains, this place is impossible to reach by tuktuks. We unfortunately had this problem, but the hostess kindly arranged some horses for us.
- Simon (7/5): Good - very peaceful location, cute chalets After the rain the only access is by foot or renting the horse or a buggy. Limited choice of food. We stayed for 2 nights and dinner was almost the same on both days. Host lady doesn't understand English and with our limited Spanish communication was very difficult. No network connection (SIM from Movistar), WiFI slow.
- John (3/5): Poor - The rooms were clean and the breakfast was okay. Located in the center of the park. The host was annoyed at us the moment we arrived and responded begrudgingly whenever we asked for something. We had to park a kilometer away from the hotel because the road was impassable. The pool is shutdown because it needs repairs but on the plus side we were given a pass for the nearby hotel's pool and absolutely loved the neighboring hotel, staff there was wonderful. Quite the contrast!
- Ama (9/5): Superb -
- Benpatient (7/5): Good - The site was beautiful: right in the desert. Mirella kept the place spotlessly clean and served good food and beer. The bed was comfortable and there was a fan in the room which was very welcome in the heat. The pool is lovely. The location is far from the main road which meant relying on the very overpriced tuk tuks to see the sights. The price is high for colombia. The shower was a trickle of water so it was very difficult to get clean after a hike in the desert.
- Gabriella (8/5): Desert experience - Nice and clean room, the dinner was perfect and the lady was very kind with all our requests. The shower was not working properly, was almost impossible to have a shower with such a small amount of water, but we are in the desert so do not expect all the facilities. The location was a little bit too far, if you don't have a car and you're walking it takes more than half an hour to get to the main road.
- Paula (9/5): Superb - Super nice location, very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. The room was simple but nice and very good value for money. The included food was tasty. There was even wifi at the lobby and Claro users might have mobile service. Would go again!
- Andresa (9/5): Superb -
- Viviana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (8/5): rural retreat in desert - we loved the pool, the stars and the rural location created a nice space to relax and feel the atmosphere of the desert. it is close to observatory, red and grey deserts. we were lucky because weather was good so the road to property was dry but it could be tricky to drive in wet weather. cabins were very rustic and luckily they have mosquito nets over beds. there were three young men working on site who were very friendly and always there to help with anything. we felt the prices for drinks and food on site were very expensive for Colombia, especially the wine. to be fair we did not check the price of a bottle before ordering, so we carry the blame. if we had known how much was being charged we would not have ordered wine. we would recommend taking supplies as location is very isolated with no shops nearby.
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (10/5): Great place to visit the desert. - Doña Mirella was great. She cooks spectacular food. The place has an included pool near by which was greatly appreciated. If you want a tour of the dessert ask for Mario, he can sell you a great tour of the important/ best looking places. He seems like a great guy and a tour with him is a must.
- Key_van (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jorge (10/5): Perfect place to escape from routine. - It is a quiet place, away from any noise and perfect to rest. Mrs. Mireya a great person and attentive to suggest things to do in the desert. Fully recommended!
- Bekahcarr (8/5): Very good - A lovely place to stay to visit Tatacoa - the room was incredibly clean and comfortable, the area was peaceful and the breakfast was great. We arrived mid-morning after an overnight bus and our host very kindly made us breakfast despite it being long after breakfast time! Plus there are cute dogs and lots of birds to keep you entertained!
- Jared (6/5): Average stay - Family Run and located in the desert near observatory Bad value for money compared to other properties. I paid nearly £65 for two nights which included breakfast and dinner. Dinners were very basic menu del dia style food and breakfast was ok.
Definite language barrier between host and i, however was never clear on what to do in the desert, little help with itinerary or getting taxis into dssert or knowledge of prices etc.
Bedroom has many open air holes which are good for ventilation but awful for bugs, constantly itching.
Three very badly trained puppies on property constantly chase and make you feel uneasy walking around.
No pool either compared to many others in area with pool.
