- Hanna (8/5): - Schöner Garten, in dem das Restaurant des Guesthouses ist und wo das Frühstück serviert wird. Historisches ursprüngliches Haus mit hohen Decken.
- Rudi (10/5): - Great experience! The house itself is a cultural monument, full of charm and history. From here you get a beautiful view of both the castle and the bridge, which makes the stay even more special. The traditional food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy authentic atmosphere with amazing views!
- Esther (10/5): Amazing! - Such a beautiful traditional place, and the most friendly and welcoming family! Very nice room, clean and comfortable beds. Also the best breakfast we had in Albania, in the most beautiful garden of Berat! Nothing to dislike :)
- Sara (8/5): Very good - This guesthouse has a wonderful view and is located right in the centre of the old part. It has a great garden where you can take your breakfast and have dinner, with a good vibe. The rooms are big and the owner is an interesting character. We had great weather but it might be cold in the winter. And the shower is outside the room, if you are fussy. It was ok for us.
- Anand (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (9/5): Amazing stay - The owner is really nice, and the location of the guesthouse is great. The breakfast was amazing as well.
- Madhan (7/5): Good -
- Lukas (9/5): Best Restaurant in town! - Lorenc is intelligent, well-informed, kind and an amazing chef! The bathroom wasn't too clean.
- Frida (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly and kind host who played music for us at the dinner. Feels like coming home.
- Paula (9/5): This is a lovely family traditional place. The owners put a lot of love and work really hard in the restaurant, the inc - The family owned business.
The lively backyard.
The live that the family put into the food they offer and the service to people The steps. I had a terribly heavy bag with me to carry lots of steps up and down (but I guess that’s only my fault)
- Maud (8/5): Great stay for one night or two ! - It was very well located and in the typic house . The restaurant in the garden at the back is lovely . Generous breakfast !
- Sylwester (10/5): Very good - That was nice service and place. Need to mention owner is localy Touristguid. Orginal surround and service
- Phoebe (5/5): Passable -
- Sergi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frances (7/5): Great location , comfortable and nice breakfast - Great location , tasty breakfast and comfortable and spacious room . The toilet overlooks a neighbouring restaurant and the window is often left open , this can make using the bathroom slightly unnerving . Also there is some strict and unspoken unwritten rules we got told off for misunderstanding/ not following .
- Harry (10/5): Lorenc - Lorenc and Kate. The room was lovely and the hosts were warm and welcoming. Kate cooked delicious traditional Albanian cuisine, the home-made wine was to die for if you like wine. The garden was atmospheric and we loved sitting here in the evenings and enjoying the local wildlife. Our room didn’t have air con so got very hot in the summer.
- Tehya (6/5): Amazing location and great food - Great location, the restaurant is amazing food with great homemade wine. Maybe we arrived at an inconvenient time, however, when arrived, the welcome was very short, with no mention of WiFi password or even a slight history of the building (which seemed to have a lot as below you can see some photos and a mural)
- Counting (4/5): Wouldn't recommend the guesthouse if you can find better alternatives! - Good location in old town! Free parking although it's a 5 minute walk away. Cosy restaurant on top of the property. Got a nice old feel to it though there's a LOT of stairs and the rooms aren't particularly good. The room wasn't clean - our backpacks got gum on them! The bathroom was too cramped and it's one bathroom for all the guests! The WiFi was poor. There's no Aircon or fan in the room (probably a necessity in hot summers). The window doesn't entirely close. The wardrobes were full of clothes so we couldn't use them either. The beds are too short and probably okay only for short people. The mattress was paper thin. The owner wasn't very communicative especially when we tried to contact him multiple times earlier about private parking space. He wasn't particularly rude but he seemed more interested in promoting his restaurant.
- Heather (8/5): Authentic - We loved our stay at Lorencs guesthouse. Lorenc himself is so warm and lovely to chat too and his guesthouse is actually is families home. I was saddened by some of the other reviews as when booking you need to remember he doesn’t advertise it as a 5 star hotel it’s more of a homestay. If you want an authentic stay I’d recommend. Our stay was great, really good value in an incredible part of town and the food he cooks is really lovely too. Nothing to dislike. Things to note you can’t park at the property but there is a car park with lots of spaces about 50 metres opposite and you’ll need to carry your luggage up stairs to the guesthouse- we had a big suitcase but wasn’t an issue for us
- Eri (9/5): Superb - A guesthouse located in a traditional Albanian house in the center of town. The owner was very friendly and I had a great time. The breakfast omelets and pancakes, coffee were very delicious. In addition, at the attached restaurant, you can enjoy wine and Rakia made by the owner at reasonable prices. If you like alcohol, please try it. Everything is fine.
- Izabela (10/5): Exceptional - very reasonable prices, quiet and clean rooms, very friendly staff
- Klaudio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Murray (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aoife (10/5): Exceptional - I had a really wonderful time at lorencs guest house, it was a beautiful and clean accommodation with a wonderful atmosphere! Lorenc was very accommodating and clearly cared very much about the comfort of his guests. He had a lot of knowledge about berat and I enjoyed hearing his stories. It’s clear that this guest house had been built on a foundation of kindness and care, I couldn’t recommend it more! It’s right at the centre and you have great access to the old town and hiking trail.
- Lara (2/5): A NO GO for the winter! - Traditional ild house in good location The temperature inside is the same as outside. The owner, no telling anything, turns on and off the AC (only heating element) for a couple of hours a day, obviously not enough! I went to bed with three blankets and completely dressed! However, in “normal modern buildings” I am the sort of person that does not like high heating!! Price with breakfast and when you ask for the breakfast he gives excuses like: “It is normaly served outside, but not in winter” and “we were sick with flu”. I got NO BREAKFAST but paid full price, not even a coffee!
If he cannot afford to mantain the hostel open in winter, he should close it! Go somewhere else!!
- Clita (4/5): Disappointing - I booked this place despite the negative reviews for winter is because of its location. It was very easy to find and is close to the gorica bridge. The view from the room is very nice overlooking the mangalem quarters and the castle. The room and bathroom were very clean. Except for the view and the cleanliness of the room there is nothing I like about this hostel. I'm really sorry to say that if you are visiting during off season like in winter you are going to suffer because of the cold. I stayed for 1 night towards the end of January and the room was very very cold. The owner seemed fine and accommodating but they only turned on the heater for exact 2 hrs. The temperature dropped at night and it was so cold that I stayed awake the whole night. The owner sure gives blankets but that is not enough on a winter night. I left very early and didn't stay for breakfast.
- Vijay (1/5): Non-Existent Stay. - Nothing because they did not allow me to stay. They told me I could not stay there AFTER I arrived there stating that 'they were waiting for the grandmother to die as she was ill+in the hospita'. Whilst I realize they are upset but they are running a business + should have informed me before so I could make alternative arrangements rather than me having to go looking for accomodation door-to-door at the last minute.
- Sophia (8/5): Very good - Very beautiful antique building
Nice garden and good breakfast No windows, noisy neighbours
- Marj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gia (8/5): Very good -
- Georgina (10/5): Wonderful old atmosphere, very cosy - Very authentic feeling, nice and various breakfasts, playful cats around, helpful hosts, much to see. My kids loved it so much. These old houses naturally lack some of the comfort and fanciness of modern apartments, but this is just what makes them special. Beautiful old stuctures, good quality of that type. Clean. -
- Hertta (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing old building, wonderful garden, really good food, home made wine and raki. Lorenc is the best and he really takes care of his guests. Also sings and plays so well. Place is really clean and cosy. This was second time we visited there and will definitely go back. Faleminderit shume! Everything was good.
- Holger (9/5): Superb - Great talktive owner with a wonderful garden to relax and drinking his own wine and food for dinner.
- George (1/5): Bad - double booked us and did not accept cancellation request
- D (8/5): Very good - Lorenc is a true gentleman, he and family were very accommodating. Very interesting house, good location. Bathroom is a bit odd in that the window overlooks a neighbouring restaurant right next door. It's not exactly a problem but you have to think about whether you really want the window open, at certain times.
- Magdalena__pl (8/5): Traditional house in Berat - Typical old house, centrally located, beautiful garden at the back of the house, perfect for an evening drink, friendly hosts
- Sascha (9/5): Lovely stay - Beautiful location, breakfast was lovely, clean bathroom and bedrooms, comfortable beds and very nice garden. Nothing
- David (1/5): Overbooked rooms - We had a very bad experience. We booked a room for a group of 4 people 5 months in advance but when we arrived at the guesthouse he had already overbooked our room and we had to sleep in a 3 people bedroom with an extra bed. He told us it wasn't his fault, in fact he enfasised that it was our fault because we had booked with a lot of time and he can't remember what people booked 5 months ago. He was aware that we couldn't go to another place because the rest of the places were completed and they would be more expensive therefore he enfasised again that he was making us a favour.
- Hana (10/5): Exceptional - extremely kind host, beautiful location, beautiful accommodation! 11/10!
- Catherine (8/5): Beautiful family-run home with great views, in the best location! - Best location and great views! Just a 10 minute (€5) taxi ride from Berat bus station. Beautiful historic building. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Beautiful garden out the back with the most adorable kittens! Free walking tour leaves from the end of the street which was great. There was no cooling in our room, so it was quite hot. Would be great if they provided a fan if air conditioning is not possible. The shared bathroom was a bit unclean (not from staff neglect, but misuse by other guests). Bring slides to wear in the shower! Cobblestone streets and lots of stairs to the guesthouse, so we recommend bringing a backpack, not suitcase.
- Izalino (8/5): Very good - Good room in very beautiful house
- Kasira (1/5): Not great and not trust worthy. - The owners only cared about greed as they gave my booking to someone else on the day as I booked a room with some additional beds and they didn’t bother to let me know and turned us away on the day without any notice to say they cancelled. Horrible people and greedy owners who don’t care and they gave my booked room to other people without telling me or contacting me. I had nowhere to go and they wasted our time by lying and saying they will sort it out. Only to then say they busy and don’t have time to deal with the situation or cause. No apologies. Rude.
- Esteban (4/5): Disappointing - Didn’t stay when we arrive after checking availability and booking, the host told us to cancel and that there was no room available
- Tiago (5/5): Passable - Food and free breakfast
Location
Good relation between quality and price Hygiene, it wasn't very clean in the bathrooms
Lack of privacy
Lack of ventilation in one of the rooms
- Elise (10/5): Perfect - The garden, the large clean rooms and facilities. Host Kate and Lorenc were amazing kind people who welcomed us into their home. We arrived late and Kate kindly prepared us a beautiful home cooked meal. If you’re lucky you can try Lorenc homemade merlot! Our stay was perfect
- Ulrike (10/5): Probably the best place in Berat - The host was very friendly, the old house is fantastic and a great place in the middle of the old quarter. The food - dinner and breakfast in the amazing garden made our day!
- Mustapha (9/5): Nice place, lovely people! -
- Joel (10/5): Excellent value, super convenient location, beautiful backyard terrace, and very accommodating host. Would stay again! - Excellent location, beautiful backyard terrace, spacious room, fantastic host and excellent dinner. No AC, no fan, and no airflow in room is a bit uncomfortable for sleeping when it’s up to 38 C outside. A small fan would be very helpful.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place, very nice host, excellent location and magnificent views just opposite the castle hill. The garden was relaxing and the cats&kittens everywhere. Would definitely come back. Thank you!
- Magdalena (8/5): Very good - Nice view, good location.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rul's (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect and Lorenc himself was very kind and welcoming and funny at the same time. He tries his best to entertain the guests dring their stay. The breakfast is tasty and the garden is the cherry on the cake!!! Nothing. Everything was up to the mark!!
- Mervyn (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable place and near to all the places of interest. owner is very friendly and helpful.
- Saho (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wojciech (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect!
- Anxhelina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Premala (1/5): Sad and Freezing, don't recommend - Clean, friendly ish host SOOOO Freaking Cold, gloomy and dark. The dorms are basic, but that's ok. No common area or access to garden or anything, just direct access to dorm. It was so freaking cold with no heating. I don't write usually bad reviews, I prefer to not review at all. But I feel that people should know. It's probably nice in summer, I wouldn't know, I didn't get the chance to see anything else beside the dorm as the door to all other parts were locked. But it's definitely dreadful in winter. I suggest the owner closes the hostel during winter if he's unwilling to provide basic necessities. 15 yrs traveling and this would be the first time I left a place after paying. I went over to Maya hostel which was so warm in every way, worth having to pay double. I have the flu today from the short stay here. I wish I had read the bad reviews before choosing this place
- Rahul (10/5): Exceptional - The host was super hospital. They came to receive me at the bus station. That is just one thing, but he was a nice person as a whole. The host was super hospital. They came to receive me at the bus station. That is just one thing, but he was a nice person as a whole.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Charming guesthouse with traditional style houses, white lace curtain windows so very pretty. Very kind and caring staff. Breakfast was delicious and in the most beautiful garden outside - grapevines, fruit trees and view of the river. One of the most gorgeous outdoor settings I’ve ever seen. Would highly recommend! Cafe/restaurant style in backyard as well so cold drinks too. Unless we couldn’t figure it out you had to walk through the hostel-style / another guests bedroom to enter the garden from your room which I felt a bit uncomfortable about. Not sure if there was a better way but it was the only way we could find at the time
- Carrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Very nice stay - Lorenc is a very friendly and helpful host. He runs the guesthouse with his family and it's very lovely there. The dinner he is offering is simple, but very good and the atmosphere is very nice. The rooms are very simple, but okay for visiting Berat and the area. The breakfast is also simple, but enough. We enjoyed the stay a lot, because of the nice atmosphere of the guesthouse.
- Ales (9/5): very - very nice and warm owners, cooling garden with amazing food cooked by the owners wife parking is possible closeby however lot of stairs up the hill with bags
- Sergio (10/5): Exceptional - very clean and nice people, beautiful in house restaurant. Nothing. Everything was great!!!
- Obbe (8/5): Very good -
- Taja (8/5): Very good - Traditional, old house in several terraces with nice garden. Owner's entering the room without knocking was quite disturbing (I was alone in dorm). Breakfast is supposed to be included, but was not ready when told, so whoever planned any morning activities could not have it.
- Xhoana (9/5): Superb -
- Eszter (10/5): Exceptional - It is a beautiful old house, n the middle of old town. The shared bathroom is very clean. Lorenz is very helpful, the garden is beautiful. He offers very tasty home made meals in his garden. We have tasted the stuffed pepper and it was absolutely excellent. If you like buildings with history, do not look any further. We loved our stay with Lorenz.
