Guest Reviews
- Mohamed (9/5): Excellent place, great value for money - The check in process was very smooth
- Georgia (1/5): Extremely disappointing stay — dirty rooms, rude and unprofessional staff, excessive noise throughou - Nothing Absolutely disgusting experience from start to finish. The hotel was extremely unclean, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable for paying guests. We were left waiting around 30 minutes because the room was not ready, despite arriving at the agreed check-in time. I was sitting downstairs with a little girl having to take my shoes off while waiting, with no apology or proper communication from staff.
When we finally entered the room, it was obvious it had not been cleaned properly. The bed was a complete mess, the bathroom was dirty, and the whole room felt unhygienic and neglected. There were also no proper locks, which made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe during the stay.
The noise throughout the hotel was awful. Children were running around and shouting constantly, making it impossible to sleep or relax. Staff did nothing to manage the disturbance.
To make matters worse, one male staff member was incredibly rude, dismissive, and gave off a very uncomfortable and creepy attitude. The customer service was shocking and completely unprofessional.
Overall, this hotel was dirty, poorly managed, and lacked basic standards of cleanliness, safety, and respect towards guests. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.
- Oliver (10/5): - Customer service
- Awan (10/5): Hospitality is really good. It matters alot - Clean and nice

- Kevin (10/5): A brilliant place to hunker down for night - It was a 7 minute walk to the shops I loved every bit of it
- Khondker (10/5): -
- Irudayaraj (10/5): - Clean room The owner is really good
Very helpful excellent
- Tony (3/5): Terrible and a very poor standard. - Location was ok. No where to hang/put clothes. Wardrobes were full of owners own clothes. No TV. Was approx 50 feet from Tube and mainline train lines with noise from 6 am until past midnight. Was moved for the final night into a single room which was her daughters bedroom, again no where to put clothes, wardrobe was full of daughters own clothes, unable to use. tiny room and a small child’s bed to sleep on. Picture attached

- Wojciech (10/5): -
- Akhtar (5/5): The uncle was very nosy at one point was talking to me for 2 hours about me marrying his family harassing me infront of - Nothing Nothing
- radu (10/5): -
- Md Ali Ahsan (10/5): Pleasant, hope to see you again - I always travel to London. Stay couple of days every time. This time I’ve chosen this and I must say it’s a Very nice location for me, clean and tidy, very pleasant host, fair price. I will definitely go there again.
- Oleg (9/5): Very good spot for sleep in short vacation trip - Good place not so far from subway station. A lot of food places nearby as well. The owner just give me the keys, so no restriction on time to go in and out. Nearby is a mosque, and early morning the mullah calls to prayer. Just be aware of that.
- Dhananjaya (1/5): Totally not worth the money, you get better rooms in Travelodge for lesser price! - No cupboard to hang clothes, there was a wardrobe in the room with full of children's clothes and their own things. Bathroom was not clean at all, the shower head was so low and I had to shower in a weird position. On the checkin day, as I was going in late at about 2100 Host warned me that I will be charged £30 extra if I checkin after 2200! He kept hassling me to take breakfast which he offered for £20/day discounted to £15/day and then again reduced it to £10/day even though I kept saying I dont eat breakfast! It is on the 2nd floor, not suitable to people with knee problems.
Review post host response: Reduced the score from 2.0 to 1.0 due to the rude response from the host to my review, infact he has called all those who have posted negative responses as 'liars'. I hope he understands that feedback is good and he makes relevant improvements. In his response to my review he says he 'waved off' the late check-in charges however, I was much earlier than his 2200hrs deadline so, he cant wave off something that is not due to be charged. He also says he will not accept my future bookings, that cracked me up! Travelodge offers rooms from £35 and you get what you want, avoid characters like these.
- Abdulrehman (1/5): Charging for late nights check in extra even i was checking in around 10PM . - Nothing Guest is a fraudulent
- Peter (1/5): This property was not as advertised, was not made clear we’d be staying in somebody else’s home - Nothing. Having to sleep in one of the children’s bedrooms with all their belongings.
No private bathroom as advertised.
- Kirthi (10/5): Warm Hospitality and a Memorable Stay with a Special Spiritual Atmosphere - I had a wonderful stay at Shaz's place. She was a warm and welcoming host — I truly appreciated her openness and straightforwardness, which made everything feel easy and genuine. There was a quiet sense of spirituality in the air that I could feel from the moment Shaz opened the door to welcome me — a feeling that grew even stronger the next morning over an excellent traditional South Asian breakfast, lovingly prepared by Shaz in the early morning hours around 5.00 a.m. The whole family was lovely: the two boys seemed a little shy, as they were the only ones I didn’t get a chance to interact with much, but the three little ones were an absolute delight. Shaz’s husband also kindly helped me carry my luggage upstairs — another thoughtful gesture that reflected the overall warmth of the stay. The location is excellent too, just a short walk to the tube and close to all the shops.
Thanks again, Shaz, for a truly memorable experience — I’ll look forward to my next stay over. All of the above — Shaz’s warm hospitality, the welcoming family, the excellent location, the wonderful traditional South Asian breakfast, and especially the cleanliness of the property throughout my stay.
- Daniel (1/5): Disreputable host who lies in his responses to reviews. I haven't been blocked so no reason to lie. - The house was quite nice. The pros end there. I requested checkin between 21:00-22:00 and the host immediately responded to my request with a £30 charge, stating that this would apply if I arrived after 22:00. I thought that this was very odd but arrived at the property at 21:58 and sent a message to the host that I was outside. The host replied "you are not here" obviously not actually having checked and hoping that booking.com would see this and take his side when he later tries to argue his case regarding the charge.
After this pathetic response, I rang the doorbell at precisely 22:00 and was let in by a woman who asked me to take off my shoes and was going to check me in, then she handed her phone to me and it was the host saying that the charge would apply and propsing that I pay "only" £20. I contested this stating that I did arrive on time, and he claimed that as he only saw my message after 22:00 , the charge would apply. First of all it really isn't my problem if he only saw my reply after the time, as that would be his own fault and not mine as I did everything that was asked of me, and secondly this is a lie, as he replied to me stating "you are not here" when I was outside at 21:58. The woman then asked for the phone back and after speaking to the host, told me that no charge would apply.
The host replied confirming that the charge would be "waived". This put a really bad taste in my mouth as you cannot waive something that should not apply anyway, that just smacks of a "goodwill gesture" that really is the bare minimum expected service. I replied pointing out how scummy this all is and the host just argued with me then stated that he "wasn't going to argue" despite having just done so and his argument being completely stupid.
- Liam-Daniel (6/5): Not exactly as advertised - Good host, good value for money for a last minute stay. - Needed a last minute, cheap stay for the weekend. The host was very welcoming and willing to help where he could. Wifi worked well and there was a large fan in the room. Personal key which locked the door was appreciated. The ad is slightly misleading, at least for the room I stayed in. The room is not empty as is shown in the pictures. It is very clearly a childs room, filled with their stuff. This stay felt more like being in an AirBnb room as opposed to a professional guesthouse. The bathroom was also advertised as private, but I had someone knocking on the door several times while I was making use of it. Shower was also a bit small, but I am 6 ft/185cm, so bear that in mind. I was also told to take my shoes off at the door - which I don't mind at all, but came back to find them the next morning in a black plastic bag with multiple other peoples shoes. The kids in the house also made a fair bit of noise, which didn't bother me much personally, but is something to keep in mind.
If you are in a pinch and need somewhere cheap to stay, this can do, but don't expect too much. A bit of a shame, as I have nothing against the host or the family and I understand everyone is trying to make a living. I very much appreciate the effort that was made.
- Irine (8/5): Lovely family home, the home owners are very kind and pleasant, offered and took my suitcase up to my room without me as - - Near to Eastham train station
- Own keys to have access to property at any time
- Family owners are very pleasant - Shared bathroom, a couple times it was being used when I needed it
- Lee (10/5): Friendly and cost effective. - Nice family stay with friendly hosts. Helped me out a great deal by doing my laundry in between work placements for £5. Good price and ideal location as only 10mins walk to underground. Slightly busy house, but that was fine.
- Karina (10/5): Exceptional - Was able to stay an additional night at a reduced cost when I forgot to book the correct dates. Provided a razor and toiletries at very short notice. Very friendly people The room was a little small but that was fine for the price.
- Andream_truk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anastasiya (2/5): Very poor - Price was +/- ok for the outskirts of London Booked room with private bathroom, was given a small room in attick with shared bathroom, dirty bathroom, no towels, wardrobe in room full with owners kids clothes.
When issue raised with booking.com, owners tried to blame the customer for late arrival (in reality, checked in 17h09). It was some family party going on, and the owners/kids were super loud till midnight.
In a nutshell, it is a family home where the owners tried to gain a quid by misleading customers about the provided facilities, by not giving even the basics (towels and soap in shared bathroom was not existing), and furthermore trying to blackmail customers for booking.com
And yeah, the owners did come into my room after check in (it would be between 18h and 22h), not to provide towels or missing toilet roĺls in bathroom, but to put a sign that no food/drinks allowed.
All in all, super far from booking.com standards.
- Laoye (10/5): Feels like home - The place felt homely and the host were helpful with all my requests Nothing
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly welcome and amazing hospitality, super attentive and kind. Place was great value and everywhere was clean.
- Ioan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liam (2/5): Misleading listing and unprofessional host behaviour - I booked this property because it clearly listed a private bathroom — a filter I specifically applied. On arrival, there was no mention of such a bathroom and nothing to indicate which, if any, was intended for my sole use. The two visible bathrooms were shared, with personal items like toothbrushes and flip-flops inside, making things unclear. I was left a single hand towel — no bath towel — and had to make my way back to my room wrapped only in that, which felt quite inappropriate given the number of people around and nearby doors left open.
The room was also misrepresented. It was advertised as having a wardrobe, drying rack, clothes rack and iron. In reality, there was a small wardrobe filled with a child’s clothing and a few hooks on the door — no iron, no drying rack and nowhere suitable to hang my own things.
There was no proper check-in — the host handed me keys, explained which doors they opened and disappeared. No mention of the facilities or setup, leaving me quite confused about the space and its use.
When I politely raised my concerns via Booking.com, I was met with a barrage of aggressive WhatsApp messages from the host, written in poor English, accusing me of lying and outright refusing any refund. It was unnecessarily hostile and entirely unprofessional.
Had the host simply responded with some courtesy and accountability, I wouldn’t be writing this review. As it stands, I would strongly caution others expecting a professional or private stay.
- Karthickeyan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariam (1/5): horrible! Very rude home owner - It was listed under hotels! It is a private home and the owner was very rude! And he kept saying just pay. For the late check in (you already got the room for 40£ and that is very cheap so pay!) and he kept texting me in a really bad tone and said that he is going to cancel my booking because I was not replying to his non stop texting messages! Even though I was in the bus on the way to London! He was incredibly rude and the place was horrible!
and he even entered the room on me while I was asleep to tell me Its checkout time one hour ago! I was so tired and he basically asked me to leave!
- Goko (8/5): Very good -
- Ibrahim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thivagar (1/5): Bad -
- Maria (1/5): Untidy and noisy homestay with shared bathroom - I booked a bedroom with a private bathroom in a guest house, which turned out to be an untidy and noisy homestay with a shared bathroom...
- Marie (8/5): Great location and the host was extremely helpful and friendly -
- Kazmi (10/5): Exceptional - Best service best place
- Lucian (10/5): I'l go again there in the future. Thanks again - Location was good and the host very friendly
- Abs (10/5): Met all my expectations - Really accomodating hosts and the property is amazing, especially the kitchen and the garden. Slight noise from trainline

- Jerin (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly people.😊 , Very clean and tidy bedroom and bathroom. Very close to east ham town and linked with all public transportation to London. There was a homely breakfast with an extra payment that was amazing.
- Muhammad (10/5): Exceptional - Thats amazing Nothing bcz every facility is nearby
- Wei (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly Muslin family, and they tried their best to meet my demands such as offering the hairdryer and lending me the adapter The bathroom was labeled private but I had to go upstairs to use it and not only me using it which dispointed me
- R0naldo9123 (1/5): Worst place - the only good thing to say about this place is that it's close to the metro. that's where the positives end. Let's start with the fact that this is not a hostel or a hotel. This is a residential building, on the first floor of which renovations are being carried out, and on the second floor lives the owner of the house and his large noisy family, with whom he cheerfully loudly and heartily quarrels. In the morning at about 5 o'clock Muslim songs and prayers begin. On the third floor there are two rooms for the so-called guests, the bathroom is not individual, as stated, but combined. My entire closet for things was filled with children's clothes, so when I checked out, I forgot the bag with gifts that I bought behind them. The owner of the house replied to me in correspondence that he gave my things to his children, because they do not return forgotten things. Twice he asked me to rate him highly, I simply did not want to leave any feedback, so as not to waste my time. But today he once again asked for a review on WhatsApp at 3:30 in the morning and refused to return my things. The worst place on Booking that I have reserved. I have not listed even half of the problems. No towels, dirtiest bed linen, terrible smell in the house. 0/10
- Regan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (5/5): Passable -
- Anna (3/5): Disappointing and not what is advertised - The bed and pillows were comfortable and the door was lockable. Not a great stay unfortunately. The room was advertised as having a private bathroom, but there are two rooms that share a bathroom on the same floor so it is not private. The cleanliness was also really poor, the shower looked completely unclean, there was blood on the pillowcase, and a pest control box in the room. The host was doing some construction work and on the second night was banging loudly until after midnight. Please note that the host also pressured me multiple times to leave a good review.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shiva (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Pleasant and clean room. - Good communication. Clean and pleasant room. Quiet street for an inner city location. Good value for money. I slept well.
- Mohd (10/5): Excellent - The property is just 15 minutes walk from East Ham underground.
Room is clean.
Toilet is well maintained and clean
Has a separate portable heater.
Owners ( Shaz ) were very friendly and of helping nature.
- Zane (9/5): Cool, quiet property. - Room was clean and bathroom was close by. Host was very lovely and homely and very respectful. The property is located about a 16 minute walk from the high street where there are loads of shops, banks, pubs and train stations. Room looked a little different than in the pictures but it was clean and comfortable. Room isn't good for people who need disabled access because it's on the top floor.
- David (10/5): Peaceful - The lift back to the stn
- Petre (10/5): Exceptional - Good and nice people , good size room clean.
Everything what I need it .
Thank you a lot !
- Shm (10/5): Nice stay - Very hospitable and kind hosts! The owners are very caring and helped with all my needs and questions. The place was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. It was October, but my room was with the heater. I had fast Wi-Fi. The house was in quite area but close to the Underground station (about 5-7 min). I liked everything. no
- Toumazi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bogdan (9/5): Superb - Nice landlord. Was waiting fir me for late arrival. Genuine and very kind people. Room was clean and parking was available
- Mathew (10/5): Was very peaceful and relaxing - Was clean and very well laid out and Breakfast is on offer the lovely hostess Shaz was also kind enough to do my laundry just brilliant
- Ruffledparrot (8/5): Homely family run establishment - The owners were extremely kind and helpful - really lovely people. It was all very homely.. He offered to drive me to where I was going the next day, but I managed to find a taxi online to spare him the trouble.
The bedroom had a view onto the nice back garden, and the bed was roomy and comfy. It was inexpensive compared to anywhere else within reasonable reach of my destination in the morning, and I'm pleased I found it. It would have been a nice touch to offer a kettle and tea/coffee in the room.
The bathroom, situated just outside my room, was supposed to be private, exclusively for my use. But on Friday morning, at the moment I was going to use it, someone else was in there, using the shower. It shouldn't be described as Private on this website if this is not the case, and so I've reduced my overall score.
- Mi (10/5): A good place to stay -
- Luboš (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angelos (10/5): Exceptional - The house was so clean and quite... with nice view thanks the host.. was so friendly.. I recommend this room for safe and pleasant stay.. 10/10!
- Dhaneesh (8/5): Super location, easy access to tube station. - The host. Very helpful. I didn't know the room was in the loft, when I spoke to the host he changed me to another room
- Ramanathan (1/5): Bad -
- Elumalai (7/5): Good - location is good
- George (5/5): Passable -
- Ashliegh (1/5): Horrible 😕 - It was close to the location where I had to attend an event It had a very bad strong smell , wasn’t clean. It was wrongly advised… a room with a private bathroom. When I asked the landlord they said it’s a private bathroom 99% and just then a guy walked into the bathroom which wasn’t clean either. The lady who checked me in didn’t have any remorse that what they advertised wasn’t what it was. She was rude and said , so are you taking it or not fully knowing that the money wasn’t refundable.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BOOK THIS
- Jayanth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emmanuel (8/5): Very good -
- Mona (9/5): It was alright but no bin to put my rubbish and hot drinks served. - It was clean the room Not enough room
- Niyas (1/5): Worst experience!! - Property was easy to find. Not too far from Central London. Charged me £30 for a late check-in, which was not mentioned in the website while booking. I had entered my preferred check in time while booking, but as soon as made the payment the landlord contacted me and asked for a late check in fee of £30. When I questioned this, I was told that it is in the policies. Contacted booking.com, waited more than hour on the phone, only to be said that they couldn’t do anything about it. So beware of this rip off!!
Also, the room is just an attic room on third floor of a family house, with minimal facilities. You have to duck yourself to walk around without hitting your head on the roof.
- Asim (8/5): Very good -
- J (7/5): Friendly host but room facilities not fully explained on the booking - Friendly welcome Room was clean but basic - no TV, no kettle - Sign in the room said no drinking, no eating
- Denis (9/5): Superb -
