- KubaWiacek (10/5): - This is a special place. Even for Albania. This is more like a community village which you can join for a while. People speak English there so it was easy to communicate. We had a fire in the evening and discussions about different things. This was a very unique experience looking at the other places we have slept in within our 1,5 week journey.
There is a kitchen you can use to make some food for yourself if you want.
- Laura (8/5): Nice but cold - The property was even more beautiful than expected, peaceful and relaxing. The volunteers are very nice and kind people once you get to know them a little! Animals are also a big plus, there are chickens and a cat and dogs who come to visit from the village! You can get there from Tirana by bus with only 100 leke. Also hiking path is very near, and the view from the cottage is amazing! And there is a hammock for chilling, a place outside to make a bonfire, and great bread and tea at the breakfast. I ended up cutting my stay short due to the cottage being so cold I couldn't sleep for most of the night. In the end of April the nightime temperature was still around 7-8, and the cottages don't have any insulation or heating and basically the temperature and humidity is the same as outside. I was not prepared for this, even with extra blankets and all my clothes on I was freezing. So if you come when it's cold in the night, be prepared as you would when you go camping/sleep in a tent! However, they offered to change my accommodation inside which I appreciate even though didn't take the opportunity.
Another thing I noticed, was that the place revolves around the volunteers. Even though they all were nice and kind and I met some great people, as a guest I felt like I had to accommodate and make an effort to fit in and learn their ways to feel comfortable. To me it felt like volunteering without the actual work if that makes any sense. Ofc this can be also good, depending what you want! I didn't mind it too much, but noticed that as a solo traveller it took me some time before I was comfortable! I think it would be nice to introduce the volunteers to the guests in the beginning, so it would be clear who are working and who are guests and maybe help with fitting in!
So, it is not the most traditional place, but can be a very good experience, and a truly beautiful place!

- Lennart (10/5): - We had an amazing time at the house in the village. The people are great and kind. The bread for breakfast is just amazing. And the surroundings are beautiful. You can hike a loop including the cave which is so worth it to visit. -
- Petra (10/5): - Fantastisch locatie.
Superleuk ontvangen.
Heel gezellig. 😂👍🏻 Niets
- Nikola (10/5): Perfect - Warm and nice host, comfy beds and beautiful nature

Wszyscy tam, sa mega otwarci i przyjaźni.
- Frank (10/5): - Zeer goede sfeer, leuke vrijwilligers, mooie locatie
- Elsa (10/5): -
- Irma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aouad (5/5): Passable - The place is very beautiful, the rooms are very nice. The house as an overall is breathtaking its soo nice the staff and the people there were a little bit of a community which might be annoying for people with social anxiety. I dunno if each hostel is like a community of people and make guests feel like outsiders or as if u have envaded their property. But it was just totally uncomfortable as an outsider going for a visit
About the food also i don't like the way they strictly does not allow you to get whatever food u want if its not vegan. I mean i would understand that they only cook vegetarian food but at least allow guests to get whatever food they want. but not allowing us was kinda rude and one of them during lunch was making fun of people who eat meat..which was really weird..I think u have to be from a very specific community to click in.
- Anonymous (8/5): Lovely rural location, relaxed atmosphere and quirky cottages in the garden! - Peaceful location, walks on the doorstep, quirky, fun chalets (mud and bottle walls) and hammocks dotted around. Good food. Clean (shared) facilities. Very relaxing vibe! Bed was a slight challenge for a tall person and we could have done with a mosquito net in the chalet
- Abbie (10/5): A chill, cosy reset week spent with amazing volunteers in a beautiful village. - The House in the Village is a gem. We stayed in the Mountain Room which was spacious, comfortable which was perfect. The house is beautiful. The volunteers were so lovely, really helped make our stay exceptional and the dinner was delicious every night. We felt spoilt during our stay Nothing!
- Ladxidua (10/5): Lovely nature scape - Beautiful and quiet, every detail is in the right place. Healthy space, lovely people. The cave and the river canyon are magnificent.
*If you are coming from Tirana, make sure to know where and at what time to take the bus.
- Tomas (8/5): Very good - Stuff was nice and food Amazing, Place surrounded by nature
- Aleksandra (9/5): Superb - Liked the atmosphere, dogs were friendly, they even went to the cave with us, although one was a bit crazy he was barking at the rocks, but otherwise he stayed with us even though we took trail down the river, food was one of the best we had in Albania. Bathroom outside.
- Robin (7/5): A lovely quirky rustic farm stay with magnificent views and mountain walks - Lovely countryside, magnificent views and sunset You have to like quirky rustic farm stay
- Kristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tereza (10/5): Perfect peaceful place! -
- Eric (9/5): incredibly kind staff, delicious breaksfast and dinner all with a homey and social spirit -
- Tamara (9/5): Superb -
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional - My favourite location in Albania. The house is gorgeous, the views are insane, the breakfast is perfection and such a good distance from the local hikes. This place only attracts the best of people. The volunteers will help you in every way they can I can’t thank them enough! So grateful I spent a night here and I will be returning. Only downside is there is no wifi, but if you have data/want no phone time, there are no faults! Also, when I was catching the bus back to Tirana it dropped us off only to the main road and told me to wait for another bus, I waited an hour or so. So just please be flexible or rent your own car!
- Deepun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lieke (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place with the most lovely volunteers. Food (breakfast and dinner) was delicious, the views were amazing and the cats and dogs are such cuties. Loved my stay and would definitely want to come back again!
- Reinhard (9/5): The Atmosphäre!!! - The Atmosphere!!!! International volunteer staff "serving" lots of stories - and an international food variety for breakfast. The garden was a little paradise, the room clean and simple. Skilled duty manager told us many local backgrounds and prevented us from printing boarding passes for the flight (you were right, not needed😀). Perfect start for a walk to the nearby cave. Only few washing facilities, could have been a bit more and bigger and less simple. Unpaved road leading to the House is not a "street" but an adventure itself... not really suitable for rental cars.
- Whyyubee (10/5): I wish we stayed longer - We love everything about this place. I'm actually speechless, and I will gladly return there in the future.
The entire concept, living surrounded by nature, garden with so many fruits, the sweetest animals with their own characters. Hospitality, kindness and open mindedness of hosts/volunteers is out of this world. You really feel like home. Huge plus point for catering vegan options.
There is adventurous hike nearby, enormous Black Cave, Erze River, mountains of course.
I could write a novel on how great this House In The Village is. We spent only 2 nights there but we miss it so bad already. There is nothing we didn't like.
- Fernando (10/5): Amazing place and experience - Amazing staff member Specialy Otu from Brazil and Atlas .
Dinner just amazing and delicious .
Friendly environment
- Adam (7/5): Good - Very cute hostel tucked away in the mountains, surrounded by a gorgeous garden! All food was homemade and delicious. The rooms are very small but still gorgeous like a cute treetop cabin.
- Richard (9/5): A peaceful retreat and marvelous antidote to Tirana - A super location in an authentic Albanian village, friendly staff and a charming mud hut chalet. An extra blanket would have been good.
- Kaceykc2 (10/5): More like a home in the village - Fantastic location, by the mountains, canyon and caves.
Staff were all so friendly and helpful.
Food was amazing, they even accommodated my dietary requirements without asking, such a lovely surprise! Vegetarian and eco friendly, local food produce from the garden or the village.
- Lavender (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Fab!! - Amazing home cooked food and location was amazinggg
- Amansson (10/5): One of the best in the village - Village life & nice people WiFi not available for tourists; I needed to go to nearby coffeehouse and buy something to use WiFi!
- Fritz (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful people and an instant feeling of familiarity and home as soon as you arrive. The surroundings of the hostel in and around the village are stunning. Each day there is a good complementary breakfast and a wonderful dinner for 600 lek. Wonderful stay
- Charles (6/5): Pleasant -
- Faisal (9/5): Superb - Great atmosphere and balance between private and communal
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (9/5): Friendly, welcoming and chilled. Cool vibe - Beautiful location and stunning walks.
Breakfast wholesome and good
- Irdi (10/5): Exceptional - The river which is 20-25 min hike from the house is amazing.
- Marťa (8/5): Very good - Very friendly and amazing people, beautiful location with lovely view. The food- breakfast and also dinner-all vegetarian- very tasty. This is the place to enjoy peace and quiet in nature. I felt like home during my stay. Thank you All perfect.
- Ina (10/5): The perfect weekend getaway from Tirana - You don’t want to miss the night in the mudhouse where you fall asleep watching the moon from the big window in front of you, and waking up to the little sun rays kissing your face! Loved the vibe and the staff was very friendly and kind. Probably will go back!
- Andreas (6/5): Part of Albania certainly worth a visit. - Please note, this property is currently under renovations to basic habitable condition,so do not expect too much.
But the friendliness of the host /volunteers are so accomodating.
I tagged along with Irfan who does his morning hikes to the Black Cave and gave me the taste of what its like to venture out there.Best wishes to you all, Atlas,Irfan,Helen & Mitzuko.
Andy (of Aberdeen) The muddy tracks along the mountain
- Ilyas (10/5): Good vibes, nice lambchop - Exactly what you expect. Smells a bit dusty but the place was very nice. Everything was taken care off.
When we arrived we came to meet the host, walking with his bear feet in the rain. He told us there was no meat inside. When we came outside to smoke we saw a dog with a big lamb chop in his mouth, eating the flesh of the bone. Also no WiFi.
- Natasza (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location, clean rooms, nice garden, nice hikes in the region, wonderful staff, I honestly would have loved to stay longer!
- Agnieszka (10/5): Exceptional - I highly recommend this place to people who want to be close to nature and meet young, open and charming people. I would love to go back there for longer!
- Bruci (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great time here. After a homemade shared meal we sat around the campfire until 1.30am swapping travel stories and watching shooting stars. The staff and volunteers were very warm and helpful. The resident dog guided us up the mountain to an amazing cave, bring a good torch!
- Iris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - I booked for 2 nights and I ended up staying for 6. This place is so peaceful with some amazing hikes nearby. I can’t wait to come back some day!
- Agolli (9/5): Superb -
- Adele (10/5): Exceptional -
- N (9/5): Superb - Great food, beautiful location, nice staff. We really felt at home here for a couple of days.

- Katarzyna (10/5): Very friendly and Helpfull staff, perfect vegan Food. -
- Kees (8/5): Amazing location, very friendly people - Location Shower and toilet out of the room.
Dogs where barking at night
- Yuu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eliška (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (10/5): Wish I could've stayed longer -
- Warunyou (10/5): Exceptional - Great homemade breakfast and delicious dinner. Amazing view through mountains during sunset. Be ready to stay in nature for happiness, adventures, river caves, waterfalls, canyons, and even the Milky Way. There are so many things to explore in the village and around. Only 3 buses depart from Tirana and the village in a day. And the station in Tirana is quite confusing. The best is taking a Taxi from Tirana to the house in the village. The taxi will cost about 30EUR for about half an hour's drive.
- Adam (10/5): I came for 2 nights, but stayed 9 - true vibes.
warm, interesting people (Illir (the owner), the volunteers and the guests).
good flow of guests and conversations.
beautiful kitchen and garden.
20 min hike to the river. to purify your souls.
fun hike to the cave and back.
no Internet!
good meals. great breakfast.
great sounds all around. no internet.
I left too soon (or did I?)
- Auke (9/5): Superb - It really is a place to relax in the middle of nature, but still close to the capital city of Tirana. We loved swimming in the beautiful river and the food prepared by the hosts. Would definitely recommend end, if in Albania again, visit this place again!
- Savannah (9/5): Serene experience - Unique feel for a hostel—so peaceful, in the countryside. You fall asleep to the sound of crickets and wake up to the clucking of the chickens and the crowing of the rooster. I loved the serenity of the place. A very authentic feel, with a very warm and friendly staff. Breakfast wasn’t just the typical minimum hostels provide; it was homemade pancakes and jam, hummus, vegetables, and more. Nothing to dislike. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are basic, but nothing to complain about. Just a part of the simple countryside feel.
