Guest Reviews
- Catarina (1/5): Bad - This hotel does not exist. This hotel does not exist.
- Lowe (1/5): We have been charged for 2 nights accommodation plus tourist taxes on a confirmed booking, that I am now trying to reco - Nothing- it has stopped taking guests. The fact that they don’t do accommodation any longer but Booking.com hasn’t taken it off the website.
- Obinna (1/5): Very bad review. Pay my money back - This guest house has been taken over buy a new owner there is no guest house anymore just restaurant.
You must balance my money back. I was kicked out of the restaurant. I never sleep there at all.
You are cheating and robbing money from people. Very bad. I need my money back from 28 to 29 and 30. I don't like when you are cheating people like common criminals. 419 code

- Watts (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (1/5): ABSOLUTLEY DO NOT STAY HERE! - The room was a nice size, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. As many have said, they seem annoyed that you're staying there. On the second night, they organised a massive party for around 50 people right below our bedroom we were paying to stay at. This went from 530pm to 12 pm, then they packed the party down outside our bedroom. I asked what was going on and told them it wasn't acceptable to have paying guests and book a party below where your guests stay. It was so loud. We have multiple videos. We could even hear the TV in our room. I was told I'd have to speak to the manager. It took half the day the following day to get a hold of him. He then proceeded to tell me how expensive zurich is and that people party and we should expect that. He fobbed us off to an email to complain as there was apparently nothing he could do. About as unprofessional as you can be. DO NOY STAY HERE!
- Goran (1/5): Would not recommend - Just the view and the location All the rest adide of the above mentioned
- Dawn (8/5): Very good - Floor below was very noisy.
- Isabelle (8/5): The place was comfortable, Zürich was very easily reachable. Good value for money. - We took small breakfast only. We liked to flexibility and being able to choose on the spot. On the day of our arrival there was a very noisy celebration going on. Luckily it stopped at around 22:00.
- Louis (1/5): Organization and communication can be improved - I liked the location of the property. They did not disclose when they lock the front door. When I came back from downtown at 10:30 I was locked out for the whole night. Additionally I purchased their breakfast which was a few slices of salami with some bread and coffee for 20 chf.
- Clifton (7/5): Good -
- Axel (2/5): Very poor -
- Titus (7/5): BnB on top of Restaurant - Nice and quiet, next to Zoo. Bit far from the city Sharing bathroom and Toilet with 8 other rooms.
Room was very small, but they have bigger ones.
- Isabelle (8/5): Very good -
- Sara (5/5): Great location, very functional, don't expect special - Interesting location, close to zoo, nice neighborhood sharing bathroom that was sub-par, staff not as warm and welcoming as other places
- Tammie (6/5): Pleasant - It was beautiful, quiet , restaurant was great We had to share a bathroom with 6 other rooms and we had to miss breakfast because it was served to late
- Richell (7/5): Good -
- Tivadar (8/5): Very good -
- Jacques (8/5): Very good -
- Harvey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Carl (6/5): Clean, cozy, but obviously a popular place for private parties on a Saturday night. - The room was clean and cozy, and good value for money. About half an hour to the main train station with the tram, so a really easy connection. I had traveled to Zürich for the funeral of a friend, and had selected a hotel away from the city so that I would have some peace and quiet. Well, the party room under my bedroom went until early in the morning. I really hadn't expected that. I barely slept before my early train to France.
- Aleksandar (8/5): Very good -
- Vicky (8/5): Very good - Cheper than other hotel Share the bathroom with other
- Aayush (7/5): Good -
- Dieter (5/5): O.k. for one night - Nice and quiet location
Friendly staff
Very good inhouse Italian restaurant Rooms and shared bath room are o.k. for modest needs but for nothing more. Acceptable for one night.
- Ella (4/5): Disappointing - Food in the restaurant was tasty. Initial appearance of the property was inviting. I have never had to complain before. I hope others have a better stay.
We booked fully aware of a sharing bathroom, however, did not realise there is only 1 bathroom between all 6 or so rooms. The light was broken and no hand soap available. We could not use the shower as it was dirty with hairs. The curtains in our room were broken and sat out far from the window so did not block the light. I brought these matters to the attention of the staff, to which they dismissed and made no amends to improve our stay. The hand soap was not even replaced. We expressed our concerns and thoughts of staying somewhere else. We received a reply, ‘this is not a 5 star hotel, what do you expect’. ‘Leave if you want’. Regardless of the star ranking in a property, a fully functioning bathroom, ability to sleep, and respect from staff should be a non negotiable. Big improvements needed.
- Konstantin (8/5): Welcoming place in quiet area - Stylish guest house on the third floor of the old-fashioned mansion. Wooden stairs, spacious bathroom, tidy room with a sink. Zoo is just next door. Reception doesn't exist and it's not easy to check in: just go to the restaurant on the first floor. Located quite far away from the city centre, the last tram stop, about 20min from railway station by tram. But public transport works very well.
- Juliette (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jianan (7/5): Overall a nice stay - Just next to the zoo. There is a restaurant downstairs. Room is comfy and the toilet is shared. It’s clean and neat. Good connection with the tram.
- Nastassja (7/5): Acceptable stay in Zurich - We enjoyed the sounds from the nearby zoo in the mornings. We could watch World Cup rugby from the big TV in our room which we really appreciated. The beds are not really comfy and the floor creaks - everybody can hear you walking to the bathroom at night
- Mario (7/5): Good -
- Mahdi (7/5): Good value for money. - Easily accessible with tram from city centre. Beautiful restaurant with delicious food with lovely staffs. Wooden floor makes noises when someone walks on it, imagine at midnight when your are asleep someone wants to go to toilet everybody wake up immediately. It has just a toilet for I think more than five rooms. Our blanket is for single bed not for twin.
- Debra (8/5): Quaint, quiet clean rooms & shared space. - Very quaint, quiet location, even with bistro on lower level. Lots of steps to our room. Quite a distance from attractions, but was ok after figuring out the bus & train options
- Abigail (5/5): Served a purpose but probably wouldn’t return. - Surrounding area was pretty, bed was comfortable, feel it was relatively fairly priced, generally clean. Less than 10 minute walk from public transport. Felt awkward on arrival, had to walk through nice restaurant and wasn’t clear if we were in right place as signage doesn’t match advertised name.
Wasn’t shown where shared bathroom was and this wasn’t labelled/signposted so had to guess! Didn’t really feel that anything was particularly explained to us ( eg how to get in out of restaurant hours).
Very noisy overnight.
Duvet tiny compared to bed.
Towel had holes in.
Curtains really far off windows so loads of light let in.
Various things didn’t work - no bulbs in some of lights, lamp stand broken.
Nobody available on check out so again wasn’t really sure what to do.
- Aayush (8/5): Very good -
- Sa'ad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arif (9/5): Superb -
- Emir (1/5): It was a terrible experience for us. - Nothing There was a party underneath our room so it was so noisy, everything about the common bathroom was terrible and there was even no lights in it. The room was stinky and dirty. Much dissappointment about our one night stay :(
- Kaiser (9/5): Charming, clean, comfy guest house - The staff was amazing! We arrived before our check in time, following an overnight flight. Staff took our luggage, we walked around the neighborhood for a bit. When we returned, our room was ready and espresso to keep us going!! Lots of steps to the rooms, which wasnt noted. It was not an issue for us as we had backpacks and do not have mobility issues.
- Glen (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (5/5): Passable - Location was nice and accessible with great options to get to the city centre. No much communication, lack of instructions prior to arrival for check in. Rooms was good. Shared bathroom was not very clean.
- Kuan (8/5): The hostel is a beautiful building, though it seems been aged, the owner still makes it clean and comfy, and the bar, th - Great location right next to the amazing Zurich zoo, just take a few step and cross the road, then you can have a great day with beautiful animals.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very relaxing - Stylish, beautiful house and garden Nil
- Nishat (4/5): Disappointing - Location Everything
- Fabiana (9/5): Superb -
- Dianne (10/5): Exceptional - The location was good with a view out our window. We went to the Zoo, where the entrance was nearly just across the street. Also had a conveniently located bus stop. The restaurant downstairs was very good, also outside seating has a nice atmosphere. We had a view It has been a hot Summer. It would have been nice to have a fan in the room.
- Kiryl (7/5): Good - Only one shared bathroom, always busy
- Arabella (8/5): Very good -
- Lucas (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gia (5/5): Passable -
- Eleni (2/5): It was a roof over our heads. Nothing more. Was excited to leave. - Not much. The property said bed and breakfast but there was no breakfast provided. The room was old and run down. The floor cracked at any little movement. The room wasn’t cleaned once and we weren’t provided with any spare towels for our 4 night and 5 day stay. Overall would never stay here and would not recommend it to anyone.
- Caitlin (7/5): Good -
- Calum (6/5): Overall it was good but shared bathroom not ideal. - Room was large enough, quiet, and right next to the zoo so i could visit conveniently. Perhaps I overlooked it but I wasn’t aware it was a shared bathroom prior to arriving, which caused issues on check out day waiting for families etc to be finished so I could shower.
- Paul (8/5): A great location, a cosy hotel with old world charm. - The location was excellent and easily accessible. Thee staff were courteous and attentive. I liked the charm of the building and its interior style. The shared bathroom, a private bathroom would have made the stay extra special.
- Elliott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mehrdad-n12 (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sten (3/5): Poor -
- Kamil (8/5): Very good - Very kind staff, good clean place in beautiful quiet part of city. Restaurant in building with reasonable prices. Clean and adequate for price. There is only one shared bathroom for several rooms. It could be a queue in the morning.
- Sean (4/5): shop around there’s plenty of others - nice location staff and lack of room key
felt like staff were doing us a favour by even acknowledging us - no room key, no coffee
- Luzie (8/5): I definitely recommend staying here if you plan a short visit and if you will be out exploring the city anyway. - 5 walking minutes from public transport and next to the Zoo. Bright room with modern furniture and nice staff. There is one bathroom for all rooms which seemed not quite enough. It would have helped if there would have been a separate toilet.
- Leanne (10/5): Clean, modern, spacious and great value for Zurich! - Location whilst not in the centre a great tram service right outside, and the room had great air-con and very spacious and modern. Nobody cleaned our room the whole time we stayed, although there were always cleaners aroundthey never checked or serviced our room,s luckily we always got towels as we saw where they were stored.
- Anne (3/5): A rather uncomfortable and unsettling stay. I felt it was too obvious that no consideration was given to the guest’s com - The Italian restaurant onsite was good, but it appears they had no interest in being a guest house too. There were no toiletries at all, not even for shared use in the bathroom, or even a soap. There was no wardrobe in the room, just 3 coat hooks with 3 hangers on them. There was no table or desk area and no kettle or coffee maker or amenities like tea and coffee and no glasses or mugs, just 2 bottles of mineral water and a bottle opener. I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome.
- Harald (9/5): Superb -
- Volodymyr (8/5): Good enough for a short stay. Great value. - Location, staff, good restaurant, clean room No glasses in the room, only 1 pair of towels for 2 people
- Holly (7/5): Good -
- Predrag (10/5): Exceptional - Location and stuff Stars were noisy and the walls were tiny
- Viktoria (9/5): Superb - Flexible and friendly personnel, nice house and room, tidy
- Cucos (5/5): Passable - The surrounding No bathroom in the room, only one bathroom for all rooms
- Natacha (2/5): Very poor - The location is quite good, 25 minutes from the city center with the tram When you get to chose between a standard double room with common bathroom and a superior double room, you would expect the superior double room to have its own private bathroom. However, all the rooms come with one and only one shared bathroom with toilet for all the guest which is very unpractical and nonetheless not announced. Moreover, during our stay, a room was rented for a private party on the floor just below, just felt like we were literally in the party room. I do not often dislike an hotel but this one is not to recommend especially regarding the bad value for money.
- Nour (8/5): More of an guest house than an hotel - Room was not too small. 2 towels were provided per guest. Heaters were working well in room and bathroom. The room was 3 floors up with only a staircase to access it. The wooden floors and stairs cause A LOT of noise at night. The hotel was a 7 minute walk from the nearest tram station. The neighborhood is not a lively one. No room cleaning was provided during our 2 nights nor were new towels provided. The electricity soket was disintegrating (see pic).
- Jeyan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glen (8/5): Just across from the Zoo....... - Good location. Walk uphill 5 minutes and downhill 40 more and you will be in the heart of Zurich. Can take the 5/6 trams if you do not enjoy walking! Right across from the zoo! Quiet neighborhood---at night! Very nice people working here. Very creaky old-school stairs. Was not a problem when we were there as it was quiet time of year. If it is booked out, bring some earplugs!
- Claire (7/5): Affordable (for Zurich) and serviceable, but needed new linens. Misleading bed count. - The rooms were warm during an unexpected snow and the bathroom cleanliness was impeccable. Sharing a bathroom was not a bother as all the guests were quiet and respectful. There was a sink and mirror in the room which was very useful. The duvet cover had several rips on either end, both larger than my hand. In addition, while the room was advertised as two separate single beds, it was actually one double bed. The location is quite far away from the city center and there is a ten minute walk from the nearest bus station.
- Zarshed (1/5): Bad -
- Chetankumar (8/5): Best place for stay - Great staff and the most comfortable beds ever. Amazing location and the restaurant makes delicious food. We ordered Rucola and Ortolana Pizza which was filling and delicious. Overall best experience.
- Jennifer (8/5): Perfectly located next to Zurich Zoo - Perfect location next to the zoo, exactly what we needed for our early brunch the next day. Great to be above the restaurant for our favourite pizzas for dinner!! Loved waking up to hear the sounds of the birds in the zoo! Would have been nice to have been given soap. Pillows standard swiss filled with down but prefer something firmer.
- Andrew (5/5): Everything about this property is a SCAM. - it was clean. It was not stated that there was a SHARED bathroom. This property is a HOSTEL above a restaurant. very uncomfortable beds. staff was ok.
the restaurant charged us £40 for a big pizza after we pointed to the £21 option. She did not speak English, so we decided not to say anything and just pay the bill. BEWARE OF THIS ALL WHO WISH TO EAT HERE.
- Riya (8/5): Loved it… - Even if there was shared bathroom, I did not face any issue.. Room was fantastic the only missing thing in room was kettle..
- Peter (1/5): Bad -
- Bijmolt (7/5): Good - The personell was very nice and the dinner we had there was very good! And the room was fine. The room was very cold. It was -5 degrees outside, but even with the heat fully turned on the room was very cold...
- Vanessa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alessandra (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jaroslav (9/5): Superb -
- Raik (8/5): Very good -
- Leisch (8/5): Very good -
- Raphael (7/5): Good -
- Anna (2/5): the reception staff was rude. I booked for a room with separate washroom however it was mixed with various others on sn - location reception staff
- Himanshu (6/5): Pleasant -
- Radu-amarie (7/5): Good -
- Erin (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable and modern space with a nice restaurant below! It is right next to the zoo and around a 5 min walk from the zoo tram stop, where we go the number 6 tram to the centre! so a great location for us. The bedrooms were very clean and cosy too Be prepared to share a bathroom with a fare amount of people! so be quick to get in of you need to rush off!
- Sarah (6/5): Nice rooms but staff hit and miss - While the location was a little far from central Zurich, it was easily accessible by tram and right next to the zoo which was really cool. The beds were very comfy and the room spacious - there was plenty of natural light and the surrounding forests were lovely to walk in. The staff were a bit hit and miss - some of them were really lovely and kind, but others appeared annoyed that we were staying there and treated us as such. The restaurant downstairs is also quite expensive (that said, the food is great!). The floors are very creaky, and the bathroom is shared (which we didn't mind, but it can mean a bit of a wait to use it sometimes).
- Livia (8/5): beautiful guesthouse - beautiful neighbourhood and kind host located a bit far from downtown and quite noisy during the night (coming from the other guests, like opinion/closing doors and talking at the Lobby), if your sleep isn’t deep, that might be a problem.
- Norliyana (8/5): The room is clean and location very good, near to zoo and city centre -
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Very convenient location to where our friend s we’re staying, it’s in a great spot up beside the zoo. Easy access to downtown on tram 6. Quiet and very reasonable cost.
- Shiju (6/5): Convenient for a short stay. - Location is great. Did not eat breakfast but had dinner in the Italian restaurant. It's expensive but very good. Private bathrooms would be better. But even the shared bathroom had no soap/shower gel for the shower.
- Simon (5/5): Good location and clean place but poor customer service. - Location good (right next to Zoo) Staff acted like we were an annoyance. Restaurant over-priced. Place had function room which was very noisy until late so difficult to sleep.
- Rafael (9/5): I loved this place! Bur at least a coffee, tea or even a frigobar could be offered to the guests. - The room was amazing but I think it could be improved by coffee/tea and frigobar for could drinks in the room. It doesn’t coast that much to put a little tea and coffee station:-) The room was very light in the morning with the sunlight, I think it could be improved by a blind curtain.
- Thilo (8/5): Very good -
- John (5/5): Passable - The bed was very comfortable. Bad shower pressure, and it is quite far out from the city centre. No breakfast. Shared bathroom had the atmosphere of a public toilet.
