• Torsten (9/5): Kurzurlaub - Sehr freundliche Vermieter. Alles vorhanden zum Wohlfühlen. Das mit großer Liebe eingerichtete Museum ist ein absolutes muss zum anschauen. Die Parkplätze sind direkt am Haus und kostenfrei.
• Thomas (8/5): Super! - Uns hat es gut in der Kutscherstube gefallen. Waren als Familie dort, hatten 4 Zimmer nebeneinander super. Das Frühstück war reichlich mit frischen Brötchen und Eiern vom Bauern. Die Wirtin war sehr nett und hat jeden Wunsch erfüllt . Danke für den schönen und kinderfreundlichen Aufenthalt.

• Michelle (8/5): - Quirky, fun, friendly, family managed hotel, with a museum, walking distance from Colditz castle. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was large and quiet. Car parking is on site. The bathroom didn't have any toiletries or a hairdryer.. Breakfast is from 08:30 - 09:30 which we 'lost in translation.'

• Frank-Holm (6/5): Für eine Zwischenübernachtung oder ein Wochenende OK. - Am Ende einer Sackgasse im beschaulichen Ortsteil Thumirnicht ist die Pension hoch über der Mulde ruhig gelegen. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist übersichtlich, aber man wird satt. Täglich gibt es lokale Eier frisch gekocht und frisch aufgebackene Brötchen. Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig. Auf den sehr weichen Matratzen und dem knarrenden Bettgestell haben wir nicht so gut geschlafen. Zum Frühstück war auch schon mal das Brot alle und kein Vorrat mehr da.

Kein Luxus, aber dafür sauber und gemütlich. Besonders positiv: Für diesen Preis ist sogar ein Frühstück inklusive. Was will man mehr!?

• Chris (9/5): Great place to stay if visiting Colditz and the castle. - Parking is to the front of the property, enough for 6, possibly 7 cars and a large courtyard for motorcycles. The owner was very informative/friendly, speaking good English, she showed us all the areas and amenities on the way to our room. Our room was on the second floor, the stairs were narrow and winding, but there is a lift to all floors. Large double bed with two quilts, two pillows, bedside tables/lamps, wardrobe, table and three chairs, single bed, small draw unit, TV (to small for room), WiFi, NO AIRCON, radiator and on-suite wet room. Only three small hand towels. Room, towels and bedding were all clean. The area by the lift has a small shared kitchenette with sink, microwave, hot plate and fridge. Downstairs there is a lounge/ bar area with a large TV, open fire, honesty fridge containing beer, wine, soft drinks and water. There was a basket of crisps next to fridge and a note pad to mark down what you had taken. The place is like a museum, it is covered with memorabilia about Colditz and the castle. Breakfast was in another building, there was a dinning area and bar. Again this room was covered in memorabilia. Hot, day one scrambled eggs and day two fried eggs. Cold, four white rolls on table, selection of cheese and meat, hot boiled eggs, sliced bread, butter, marmalade and spreads, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, milk, water, squash, very strong coffee and a selection of teas. All very nice. Located towards the edge of the town it's still only a 20 min stroll to the market square then another 5 mins to the castle entrance, although on the return journey, it is uphill. If visiting Colditz castle there is a car park available at the entrance and I would recommend you allow at least 3 hours to fully explore. Be aware the there is a very large spiral stone staircase to climb half way around the histopad tour. On Sunday/Monday most of the restaurants/cafes either do not open or have reduced opening hours. Only small hand towels. Pillows were not very good.

• Oliver (6/5): Familiär und sehr herzlich - einfach gehalten aber mit einer klaren Empfehlung von uns. - Der kleine Hof liegt etwas abseits am Ortsrand und ist herrlich familiär geführt. Neben den Gastgebern stach natürlich der Hund hervor. Mit ein wenig Leckerlies ging der uns nicht mehr von der Seite ;-) Die Unterkunft / Zimmer war eher schlicht, aber dem Preis durchaus angemessen. Wie schon anderweitig beschrieben, ist das kleine Privatmuseum aus DDR-Zeiten mehr als eines Blickes wert. Bedauerlicherweise konnten wir nicht in der Kutscherstube essen, da die Wirtsleute altershalber den Betrieb geschlossen haben. Das Frühstück hingegen war ausgezeichnet und überraschend umfangreich. Ein klein wenig mehr Komfort und ein etwas größerer TV wären toll - für eine Übernachtung war das aber kein Kriterium.

Added bonus of the collection of items from East Germany, very interesting to have a look at. Highly recommend if going to visit Colditz castle. Approximately 20 minute walk / 5 minute drive from the castle/town. Lili's Pizzeria was recommended by the host, where we had a terrific meal. N/A

• Ursula (8/5): Netter Aufenthalt während einer Radtour - Die Streckenplanung der Radtour brachte es mit sich, in Colditz zu übernachten. Da die Auswahl an Unterkünften nicht so groß war (insbesondere im Hinblick auf ein Abendessen) und die Unterkunft durchweg gute Kritiken erhält, haben wir eine Übernachtung mit Frühstück gebucht. Und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Sehr nettes, hilfsbereites, sympathisches Inhaberpaar. Abstell- und Lademöglichkeit für Fahrräder. Gutes Frühstück. Wir sind recht spät angekommen und haben dann in einer kleinen Pizzeria "Lily" gegessen. Können wir weiterempfehlen. Die Pension liegt ruhig und etwas außerhalb der Altstadt, diese kann aber mit den Rädern in ein paar Minuten erreicht werden. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und geräumig. Es gibt eine kleine Getränkeauswahl mit Vertrauenskasse und ein kleines sehenswertes DDR- Museum. Uns hat es gefallen. Wir haben auch gut geschlafen.

Will be back! A fair walk to town - about 15mins, but interesting nevertheless....

• IAN (6/5): we were not told how to contact the manager if there had been a problem - but there wasn't a problem - the breakfast was good, however the table where the food was laid out was too small for the number of people who wanted to make their selection my friend and I stayed in an upstairs room with a single bed and a double bed. There was no light by the small bed - it was therefore difficult to read in bed

• Brad (7/5): Quirky but neat accommodation on the outskirts of Colditz. - Rooms are spacious and clean. It’s a quirky place - virtually a live-in museum - but quite interesting. Breakfasts are decent. You have to go back into town for food - it’s about a 15 min walk, which isn’t too bad in pleasant weather.
• Frank (9/5): Bei 35°C im Muldental - Nostalgie Hotel mit DDR Museum! Es gab viel zu entdecken. Der Ortsteil von Colditz heißt Thumirnicht, der Name ist Lebensmotto!! Gefüllter Kühlschrank mit Kasse des Vertrauens. Bei 35°C eine Wohltat. Sogar war Lift verfügbar und unsere Fahrräder waren gut untergebracht! Die steile Anfahrt mit dem Rad war nochmal eine Herausforderung!

Der Innenhof ist sehr schön gestaltet und ladet abends zum Verweilen ein. Leider gab es keine Fliegengitter am Fenster, was die Mücken zum Reinkommen einladet. Gerade im Sommer auch keine Option, das Fenster zu schließen. Dass es auch Mückenstecker zum Ausleihen gab, hab ich zu spät gelesen.

• Monika (2/5): Leider das mit Abstand schlechteste „Zimmer“ auf meiner Radtour an der Mulde - Der Wirt und die Frühstücksfee waren nett. Das Spiegelei hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Einzelzimmer ist aus meiner Sicht nicht mehr vermietbar. Die Größe des Zimmers hat insgesamt die doppelte Grundfläche des Bettes, auf das man sich wegen des hohen Holzrahmens nicht mal setzen kann. Die Schiebetür zum Bad lässt sich nicht mehr schieben, dadurch liegt man im Bett und schaut direkt auf das 2m entfernt stehende WC aus DDR Zeiten. Die Duschtasse läuft über bevor der erste Tropfen warmes Wasser kommt- also kann nicht geduscht werden. Die wenigen vorhandenen Fliesen sind in Auflösung befindlich. Der Versuch nachts das Fenster zu öffnen, führte zu intensivem Rauchgeruch( kein Zigarettenrauch) im Zimmer und musste also auch unterlassen werden. Die gerissenen Tapeten mit den zerdrückten Insekten verbesserten den Eindruck nicht. Wir hier ein Zimmerpreis von 75€ begründet ist, ist mir nicht erklärlich. Die bei Ankunft mir mitgeteilte Frühstückszeit von halb neun ist in der Woche sehr spät, ich bat um Frühstück zu 8.00 Uhr , ab 7.30 standen die anderen Gäste im Hof und warteten. Halb neun wurde durchgezogen.

• Patrick (9/5): - Heel fijn verblijf in Pension Zur Kutscherstube. Gezellige accomodatie waar je met mooi weer ook lekker buiten op terras kan zitten. Er is een (kleine) lift, top voor personen die moeite hebben met trappen lopen. In het DDR museum is veel bewaard gebleven van de tijd achter het ijzerengordijn. Het ontbijt was heerlijk en genoeg.. Geen minpunten, alles prima!

• Sonja (8/5): Idyllische Urlaubsunterkunft mit viel Blumen und Pflanzen - Sehr nette und aufgeschlossene Gastgeberin. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt bei Frau Simone. Jeden Tag ein grosszügiges Frühstücksbüffet mit viel Kaffee und auch frischen Eiern, war liebevoll hergerichtet. Frische Blümchen standen auf den Tischen. Ein Getränkekühlschrank stand auch zur Verfügung, wurde immer wieder nachgefüllt. Es gibt einen schönen Biergarten mit vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten, alles im Grünen. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt und komme gerne wieder!😄 Es war alles top, nichts zu beanstanden!

• Kjell (9/5): Fantastic countryside hotel for those who want to see something different - This hotel with its own museum is a treasure chest of funny creations, things from old DDR and very helpful and cool employees. If you want something slightly different and amusing and relaxing then come here. Location is in the countryside with farms around. You have to go to Colditz city centre to get hot food. But it is a nice 10 min walk.

• Andreas (10/5): - Wir sind eine 9 köpfige Gruppe und waren 2 Tage mit dem Fahrrädern in der Kupferstube. Der Wirt ist ein toller Typ und hat eine ganz außgewöhnliche, sehenswerte Pension geschaffen. Die Zimmer sind sauber und wir haben uns in der Kupferstube sehr wohl gefühlt.

• Kai (8/5): - Das Frühstück war ausreichend und gut. Über die Lage sollte man sich vorab gut informieren, besonders wenn man mit dem Fahrrad anreist.

• Lee (10/5): Safe, Biker friendly, great location with a bonus museum and value for money - A motorcycle friendly guesthouse with secure parking in a courtyard with an electric gate for motorcycles and separate from the main guest carpark. The guesthouse has it's own museum, depicting what life was like in Eastern Germany after WW2 and pre Unification with West Germany as the owner was born in Colditz Castle when it was a hospital for the town. Lots of photos showing the renovation of the guesthouse from farm buildings. My room was clean and bright and had it's own on suite bathroom. The accommodation block has a lift. A large selection of food for breakfast. As the guesthouse is on a hill. It is possible to walk into Colditz but is a steep incline back up the hill. Take note that with the exception of the Italian restaurant opposite Lidl which closes at 22:00. The other restaurants close at 20:00. If you are visiting Colditz and partaking in a tour of Colditz Castle. This guesthouse is an added bonus. Everything was perfect
• DANIEL (7/5): Interesting (in a good way) hotel with very hospitable staff. - Good location for visiting Colditz if you have a car - but walkable too. Very friendly staff and good breakfast.
