Guest Reviews
- Alex (10/5): Amazing! - First things first, the host is simply awesome! Flora helped us through every step of our organising the Tiger Leaping Gorge trip (and our Lijiang stay as well).
The room is eccentric, but also comfortable and clean. It's a few minutes from the Ancient Town. Overall, absolutely recommended!
- Rick (8/5): - Cheap private rooms Was a bit quiet in the hostel (could be due to low season)
- Alethea (10/5): Cozy, welcoming - 10/10 stay. - I couldn’t recommend October Inn more. The host, flora, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. She has created such a lovely homely environment there! The comfy bed with electric blankets was an added bonus. Nothing!

- Guillaume (10/5): - We had an awesome stay in Lijiang ! The owner gave us great advice on things to do around, Tiger Leaping Gorge hike, and also cooked us delicious breakfasts and dinners. Our room for two was also clean and well furnished.

- Mallory (2/5): Run by scammers, overcharges you, removes bad reviews, and dirty rooms - Cute dog
Somewhat close to old town but requires walking up a large hill and all restaurants/shops nearby are very expensive I wondered why this property had such good reviews, and then when I raised my issues with them, they lied and said I never stayed here to prevent me from leaving a review. I had to follow up with the platform, but this hostel is run by scammers.
They charge an extra 40 RMB fee on top of a 120 RMB ticket to go to Tiger Leaping Gorge, 30% of ticket price. Book with Mama Naxi Guesthouse instead to save the insane fee.
When I tried to change my return ticket, they refused to send me the original ticket to showing the bus staff OR tell me where to get off, saying that the bus driver will “just know” to drop me off near the hostel. He didn’t, and has never heard of the hostel. Ended up getting dropped off across town and had to take a 40 minute taxi and walk another 15 min up the hill since the roads were closed.
The rooms are dingy, dark, and stuff is thrown everywhere. The 4 person room doesn’t have lockers. I was going to stay one more night after the gorge and the bed they tried to give me had someone’s stuff on it - when I said the bed was dirty/used they just moved the stuff and told me it was fine.
I picked this place for the social aspect but literally saw no one besides when people were asleep.
Avoid this hostel which is dirty, overcharges guests, and prevents people from leaving bad reviews by LYING to booking.com
- Sjoerd (9/5): Above expectations - The person who runs the hostel is great. She is familiar with the English language and she let me store my laptop in the locker while I was climbing Haba Snow Mountain
- Daniel (10/5): - This was the most pleasant place I've stayed in China. The hostel, the room and the bed were cozy and comfortable. There are electric blankets for cold winter nights, laundry facilities and several nice places to hang out. The hostel is a ten minute walk down a hill from the old city. Ashley is a great host who helped make my trip special. She helped me make arrangements for trips and even walked me to the bus for the trip to the Tiger Leaping Gorge to make sure I found my way. Whenever I had a question, she was quick to respond with helpful information. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Lijiang. -
- valentina (10/5): Todo Perfecto ! - Impecable de limpio y muy amables Me gusto todo
- Juliette (10/5): Exceptional - The hostel is very well located just above the old city, it's a 10 minute walk
The vibe is really great, there are a lot of chill areas and even a rooftop to watch the sunset from
The beds are spacious and conformable, there is hot shower
And the best for last, the hosts ! Ashleigh and her brother are so wonderful, cook delicious food, and are so helpful and overall so pleasant to be around !
I highly recommend this place if you come to Lijang :)
- Jan (10/5): Super nice hostel - Hostel is super nice and the family who runs it just wonderful and very helpful in planning tours and they create a good atmosphere. I like this place a lot and will stay there again :)
- Jelmer (10/5): Perfect location, perfect hospitality - Amazing friendly people. They’re eager to learn English. The room was clean and comfortable. They helped us a lot with the bus to the Tiger Gorge and the transport of our bags to the final destination.
We forgot some stuff and we really appreciate the effort the did to bringing the stuff back ❤️ Perfect stay in Lijiang
- Lukas (8/5): Very good -
- Talisker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonas (9/5): Superb -
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional - Very good for the price
- Wahab (10/5): Nice staff, comfortable and nice view from the top floor. - The location is near to the old town. Nithing
- Talisker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Blake (10/5): 10/10 hostel!! - The owner of the hostel and Ashley were excellent; extremely helpful and generous. The 4 bed dorm was comfortable and clean. The hostel has a really cool vibe and was social. You should stay here!
- Blake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oshin (10/5): recommended . - clean It’s quite a distance from the hostel to get to town, so you’ll have to walk.
- Claire (9/5): Wonderful stay0 - The owners were super helpful and the accommodation was wonderful. Would highly recommend to firnds and family. There are plenty of places to sit outside the room, including a roof top space. Just 15 mins walk to the ancient town. However, if you turn right and walk up the hill, you will come to an amazing view after 10 mins (max) inc sun set. Then if you carry on along the well maintained.stone path you will find yourself on the elephant mountain ridge. Maps don't show it but follow path and you will come to a cross road. On your.left you.will see steps. Go all the way to the top turn right and the path will take you to more amazing views. You can go to.the park from.here and if a clear morning (suggest before 8am) the snowy mountain can be seen in all it's glory. After 8 the clouds gather round the top. Bare in mind park may charge 75Y When you enter Nothing all great
- Selina (10/5): Relaxing atmosphere, great location, friendly and helpful owners - I enjoyed my stay at the October Inn. Following the instructions I received by mail, the hostel was easy to find. It‘s location is a bit up the hill and in short walking distance to the old town (it’s a quiet neighbourhood). The owners are very helpful and kind, owning a little happy dog that likes to be petted. They even shared some delicious peaches with us! The beds are comfortable and I loved their little yard to hang out. When I return to Lijiang, I certainly will stay at the October Inn again!
- Timothy (9/5): Room was quite large, public lounge and kitchen was really wecloming. - Really friendly staff, really made my daughter and I feel like part of the family The bedroom lighting was quite dim... not an issue unless you wanted to read a paper-based book.
- Amy (7/5): Love it - Very good
- Korbinian (9/5): Superb - The hosts helped me getting around and organise my trip. The hostel is in a quiet place, but in walling distance to all restaurants. Best place for that price.
- Andrews (10/5): Exceptional - The people running the Inn were so lovely and helpful with planning trips and other questions!
- Mateusz (9/5): Superb -
- Valérie (7/5): Very convenient and quiet location, no real mattress - Very well located, as it is close enough to the ancient town (15-20 min walking) but the road passes in front so it’s possible to take a taxi to/from the railway station instead of taking the bus + quite a lot of stairs.
It’s very quiet and peaceful, there’s a cute dog.
Lot of panda plushies in the room, which was spacious.
The owner is helpful, she tried to help us book a package for Yulong snow mountain but we did not need it in the end.
There’s a possibility to buy a cup of coffee or tea for 10 rmb (from the blackboard there was also possibility of other drinks, breakfast and dinner or an additional fee). The beds were very hard, literally like a plank. We checked under and the “mattress” was hollow.
It was a carpet floor that was mediumly clean.
- Francesca (8/5): Very good -
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional - So friendly and cute! Love the dinner!
- Yu (10/5): great experience in my trip! Excellent place! - The hostel owners are really welcoming and friendly. They took me to pick cherries and to great restaurants to have breakfast. They also have a cute dog in the yard. The breakfast and dinner are also available, it’s a good chance to make friends.
It’s a really international hostel(I was the only native Chinese visitor there). The hostel is located in a transitional village with a great location close to the Old Town.
- Eddie (9/5): Excellent, - Ah Ho the Manager was very helpful to all our needs eg ,Arranging Bus to Tiger Leaping Gorge & inform Tina Hostel on our left over Luggage as we are Trekking the Upper Gorge and guiding us on nearby place of interest and also asking his sister who is an Excellent Cook to accompany our Group to the Ancient Town after Dinner. Breakfast lunch and Dinner are reasonable Charges ranging from RMB15-30.00.with the Atmosphere of a Home away from Home. We will definitely stay there again. Nothing. For the Prices we paid there is Nothing to complain with his Excellent Services render.
- Moshe (8/5): Very good -
- Parker (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing experience good atmosphere - This hostel is suitable for backpackers. I met many during my stay. The owner is very helpful and the food tea, and coffee are great. I had a comfortable stay and ended up extending. Will stay again if I’m in town Good location, but be aware it’s up a hill if you have lots of luggage take a taxi
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay in Lijiang thanks to Ashley and her brothers! They will be available to help you book any kind of activities for the best price (romance love show, Tiger Leap...).
You can also enjoy a real Chinese dinner with them for only 25yuan.
The room was clean, bathroom too. It was well equipped with comfortable mattresses and heating blankets. You also have access to a rooftop and several tables outside to enjoy the sun.
The hosts will also send you detailed informations to get to their place from the train station or wherever you arrive.
Thank you to our hosts who even took us to the train station on the way back. Fully recommended.
- Florent (10/5): Perfect place - Hosts really welcoming, fun and helpful.
Located 5min walking from Old Town.
Nice place to stay 👌 Nothing
- Claudia (1/5): Dirty as hell, unfriendly staff, uphill and faraway from town. Bad option. Avoid it! - Dirty as hell, unfriendly staff, uphill and faraway from town. Pick up service unreasonably expensive. Bad option. Avoid it!
- Joel (9/5): Superb - Friendly people and vibe
- Jan (8/5): Very good - Very friendly and helpful staf.
- Rick (10/5): Nice hotel with friendly staff - Nice hotel 10 minutes walk outside of old town. Helpful staff.
The room was not so clean, but after mentioning they got ultra cleaned right away.
- Arora (8/5): Very good -
- Damian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristel (7/5): Good location - Quiet neighbourhood, close to old town
- Angela (10/5): Great! - We stayed at October Inn for four nights and it was just great!
Let's start form the room: very big and comfortable, bathroom also quite big with everything you need.
There is a nice terrace where you can enjoy a great view of the mountains and the city. Two beautiful courtyards where to sit and relax.
It is located just 10 minutes from Lijiang ancient town, so a nice and short walk.
The best part: the hosts are simply great. They came to pick us up at the train station when we arrived and took us back when we left, they helped us to organise some trips around and gave us a lot of suggestions and advice about what to do and how to move around. In the evening we used to spend time with them sitting in the courtyard, drinking tea and talking. One evening they took us for a nice walk on the mountain just at the back of the Hostel.
We really enjoyed our stay and, if we have the chance to go back to Lijiang, no doubt we will go back to October Inn.
- Leonas (9/5): Superb - quiet
- Leonas (9/5): Superb - quiet,
- Thao (8/5): Very good - The hostel located on the hill which is 10 mins walking from the Old town. As i dont mind climbing on the hill everyday, I love that peaceful location, especially the stunning view from the balcony. There is a washing machine that you can use with a little fee ( CNY 10 per time I think ). Price is cheap and Staffs are very nice. - The shared WC was sometimes smelly.
- Staffs are nice but they don’t speak English :(. However, it is understandable as u hardy find anyone who can speak English in Yunan.
- K (10/5): Exceptional - This was a great stay. Tom the owner and his brothers were super hosts. the hostel was empty when i arrived, so tom gave me even better service. He even took me on his scooter with his little doggie to nearby villages. he was able to advise me on where to go and how to do different things in lijiang. he also invited me to have dinner each night with his family or friends. the bed was really comfy and warm. The water was very hot. the room was very big. the hostel is about a ten minute walk from old town, but its far enough away to be quiet for a nice rest at night. I will definitely be back to visit tom and his family in the hostel. everything was good! lijiang is a little cold in the winter, i had no idea! ;D
- Krzysztof (10/5): Exceptional - The Owner was really friendly and helpful. The place is clean, spacious, good location. I liked the atmosphere there. Definitely recommend for both solo travelers and traveling with friends.
- Natalia (10/5): I would highly recommend to stay at Tom's! - Tom is a great host! It is easy to communicate with him since he can speak English. He explained and gave me the instructions to get to his place. The location is close to the old town but far enough to be calm and relaxed. Also, it is very close to the Elephant Hill hike.
In addition, Tom gave me detailed information about the Tiger Leaping George hike, which was very useful!!!
While I was there, there were not many other guests, so it was really quiet!!
- Gui (7/5): In general it's good, but could be better. - Tom, the owner is very nice and try his best to help you. The location, besides being at the top of a hill, it's pretty good. It was not very clean. The bedsheets looked a little filthy and the toilet could be better as well.
- Robert (10/5): Awesome place - The place is super cozy and the boss is great person and very helpful with traveling tips.
