Jim (9/5): - Joe is a really friendly host. He cooked me a beautiful breakfast each morning I was there. The self contained cabin was comfortable and I loved seeing the alpacas each day of my visit.
Greg and Caroline (10/5): Very relaxing in a lovely setting. - Breakfast was amazing. We had the muesli, oats, stewed apple, granola and yoghurt, which was delicious. We took the opportunity to have two dinners in the dining room. Joe and Lizzie were great hosts and Lizzie is also a fantastic chef. Both meals (lamb shanks and filet mignon) were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Very happy with everything.

Both Lizzie and Jo are exceptional at what they do - provide welcoming and warm hospitality, they cook, they garden, they run nightly cooking classes... For "breakfast included", we expected the standard but welcome continental breakfast - but to get a choice of gourmet cooked breakfasts each morning was something we have not experienced anywhere else in the world!! We liked *everything* 10/10!!!

Nicole (10/5): A PERFECT COZY STANTHORPE ESCAPADE! - We stayed at Sabo's last month for my birthday, and it was just AMAZING! From the moment we arrived, Lizzie and Joe were absolutely lovely. The property was super cozy and beautiful (a Christmas snowglobe in a home!), only made better by the delicious breakfast, Lizzie's wonderful Saturday group dinners, and the wonderful fireplace in the rooms.
Karen (6/5): Although the place felt homely, the breakfasts were disappointing and did not meet expectations.” - Dinner on the last night. Comfort in the lounge and dinning area. Very homely feeling and customer service. On the first morning, breakfast was disappointing. The eggs were significantly overcooked, the toast was soggy, and the bacon was overly crisp, making the meal unenjoyable. On the second morning, the pancakes were burnt, and no maple syrup or condiments were provided to accompany them. Despite advising Lizzie of my lactose intolerance, my pancakes were served with dairy ice cream. When I raised this with Joe, I was told to simply scrape it off, leaving me with plain, burnt, dry pancakes and no suitable alternatives. Unfortunately, neither breakfast met expectations, and the experience was unsatisfactory for everyone at the table.

Ali (9/5): Superb - Sabo's on Severn was exactly the Stanthorpe experience we were hoping for! From the moment we arrived, the lovely owners made us feel like part of their family – truly like staying with a favorite aunt and uncle on their farm. Their kindness and genuine hospitality shone through, even down to the common area being beautifully decorated for "Christmas in June/July" during our visit. The location is ideal for both families and couples, offering a stunning garden, friendly farm animals, and an abundance of beautiful plants. It's also incredibly convenient, with many dining options and wineries just a stone's throw away. Our room was spotless, and the freshly prepared breakfast, featuring ingredients from their own crops and local farms, was a highlight. The only minor suggestion for colder nights would be to add a small heater to rooms without a fireplace, although the main bed did have a comfortable electric blanket.

Our hosts Joe & Lizzie were the loveliest people and although they had a busy weekend, they were still able to find time for a chat. Our breakfasts were fabulous and both mornings it was a different menu with three choices of a hot meal. A great start to the day. So nice to be able to come back after a busy day and be able to unwind by walking the beautiful gardens. Our room was quite spacious and beautifully appointed. Having a good sized bathroom was the icing on the cake. Thank you for a fabulous couple of days….😊

In the first day my eggs were cold and on soggy toast and on the second day they were hard. There was no real decent coffee and you even had to make your own tea and instant coffee. Tea bags ran out and weren’t replaced. If you wanted ‘special’ coffee you had to pay extra!! Never come across this. Very little room. The host disappeared after arrival with very little information about the place.

Lizzie and Joe welcomed us like family, the room was warm, clean and stylishly decorated with Christmas in July, loved it! we were also spoiled with choices of breakfast. The breakfast was like going to a great cafe, the quality and taste were amazing. Lizzie & Joe also helped us out with a last minute request for a platter, as we had hoped to collect nibbles on our wine tour for dinner after but unfortunately a few places weren’t quite stocked. It was a great platter.

Schalk (10/5): Exceptional service, comfortable rooms and excellent food in a convenient location - Lizzie and Joe are warm, welcoming and accommodating people who went out of their way to look after us and to help us make the most of our weekend. They are in a quiet area close to most of the wine farms, which was excellent for us. Their lounge with the fireplace was a great place to unwind with some local wine at the end of the day, the rooms were comfortable and clean, the breakfast was truly exceptional and feeding their llamas was fun way to cap off our time there.

Daia (10/5): relaxing retreat with a great atmosphere - We liked staying at Sabo! It was a lovely place with a tranquil atmosphere. At that time of year we were the only ones there and it was nice and quiet and relaxing. Kids liked visiting the lamas and walking in the garden at night when the fairy lights were on. Joe made us lovely breakfast each morning and was a wonderful host overall, always making sure everything was ok. The room felt cosy, comfy beds and the complimentary carafe of port on arrival was a pleasant surprise!
