Guest Reviews
- Lisa (7/5): Family-run guesthouse ideal if you’re passing through - Great location right off the motorway yet in a village. Plentiful parking. A kind welcome and shown to my room and asked what time I’d like breakfast. Balcony overlooking the pretty valley. I didn’t do a speed check but the internet seemed decent from my room - room 9. Dinner & wine were very good - I think I had schweineschnitzel cordon bleu with mushroom sauce, which came with a really good dressed mixed salad (it also comes with noodles but I don’t eat them) and a local red wine - the owner’s lovely daughter or granddaughter spoke English with me because I only know a few words of German. Beautiful wooden bed and very comfortable mattress and nice bedding, and lovely warm lighting suitable for evenings under the headboard. Silent at night and back-out blinds. Good shower, plenty of towels. Nice local village to walk my dog around in the morning. Breakfast of coffee and a boiled egg, with a buffet of juice, bread rolls, butter, meats, and cheese (there may also have been fruit but I can’t remember). Easy check-out and card payments are taken. Smoking inside the bar area meaning I couldn’t sit in there and socialise with other guests - and the faint smell of cigarette smoke does infiltrate the place a bit. The hairdryer in my room didn’t work. No socket near the bed. I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room, on the corridor, or downstairs, even for a small charge. It’s an old place and, although that means there’s some stunning antique furniture which I appreciate enormously, the decor and rugs reflect its age. I’m not sure if there’s heating so check if that’s important during your visit.
