Elizabeth (4/5): Soul-less accommodation in Mayrhofen - Clean - but I was expecting this. As two women in their late 50s, quiet and well-mannered guests, we felt uncomfortable at Pension Regina. We have been to Austria many times and are thoughtful visitors who normally enjoy connecting with the local people and culture. 1) The owner was annoyed we arrived at 21:15h instead of 21:00h, after informing her of a delayed flight. She did not wish to answer our questions upon our arrival or make us welcome. 2) Breakfast facilities were requested at booking, but refused with no explanation. Good breakfast reviews had been a big factor in our choice of accommodation, and the breakfast area had been set up. If there had been some reasoning or apology offered, we might have understood better. We were advised to use the supermarket, but not told it was closed the next two mornings (Sunday then a Public Holiday). Other eateries were 25 mins walk away. There were no options to buy a drink, hot or cold, at the Pension. 3) The room was not as pictured on Booking.com, where it was described as a 2-3 person room (one bed a sofa-bed). We intended to share the room and one take the sofabed, but this room was smaller and had no sofa-bed. We didn't wish to share a double bed so purchased an extra room instead. 4) Communal areas (foyer, sitting area, corridors) were always in the dark (strange for a large guesthouse), and sitting area "closed" after 6pm. The inner door between ski room and hotel was locked at random so we had to remove our socks, to cross the backyard to re-enter the Pension. We never knew if this door would be locked or unlocked. 5) Signs everywhere telling us what was not allowed (maybe they had some antisocial guests in the past?) and no personal touches or expressions of warmth. There were no hotel staff to ask about hotel facilities or local information, including luggage storage or WiFi, and we were too intimidated by the owner to ask a question.

Steve (8/5): Had a really enjoyable week with friends skiing, and although I thought the property was a way out of town, it only took - Pension Regina was a really lovely traditional styled building with all the facilities you need. The rooms were again in keeping with the traditional property, clean and beds were really comfortable, feather pillows and duvet, which is just what you need after a days skiing. I didn’t use it, the there was ski & boot storage accessed from the exterior of the property. Breakfast was traditional continental selection, but worked for me. The towels could’ve have been a bit thicker, very thin, but just a minor observation.
Sanne (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice breakfast with fresh fruit, boiled eggs and much more. The bed was soft and very comfortable. The room had a very nice size and a private balcony with a nice Mountain View. Everything was very clean and the bathroom with a shower also met my expectations. The location is great for skiing - there is a bus stop near by. Also the Finkenberg ski area can be reached by car within 5 minutes where free parking is provided directly at the lift. The staff was very helpful and polite. Can only recommend.
