Guest Reviews
- Michael (9/5): -

- theresa (10/5): Better than we ever could have hoped for. - The house and the location were fabulous. The people were the best part. Wendy was a great guide and host, always willing to go above and beyond. Meals, prepared and brought to our cabin by Rita Maria made this experience particularly special. We were treated like family in all the best ways. We loved everything about it.
- Ignacio (10/5): A - Private in the middle of nature. Accessible. Absolutely gorgeous and clean. Wonderful host and amazing waterfalls nearby.
Prima bedden.
Tiere direkt vom Balkon sichtbar
Tolle Gastgeberin
Essen der Mutter wirklich empfehlenswert, sehr herzlich gemacht!
- Mark (9/5): - Knusse huisje met mooi uitzicht
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - The host Wendy is very nice and an excellent guide. We enjoyed a night walk with her through the forest and saw different species of frogs, a turtle and many other animals. After the walk Wendy's mother served a delicious dinner.
- Patty (10/5): A lovely stay! - This is an amazing accommodation - especially for families! The hosts were so kind and the cabina was lovely. Comfortable living and kitchen areas and the bedrooms were charming.
- Diane (7/5): Great potential. - Lots of trees and birds. Hammocks on the balconies. Mosquito nets on all the beds. Nice to have the option of having local food prepared. Noisy whipper sniper in the morning. The house creaked all night and kept us awake.
- Andre (8/5): nature experience. - submersed in nature. unique experience. river rafting is a must here! although there are nets to protect you from insects, the netting is old and has gaps in parts of it which could easily be fixed.
- Klanejo (9/5): Superb - Very pretty environment with a lot of options for activities. Wendy and her mom were so nice and sweet. Big house with nice teraces. Comfy bed with mosquito net. Delicious meals (very big portions) made by the mom. We booked some activities via Wendy and they were great value for your money and the guides were really good and friendly (True pura vida) Sadly Wendy couldn't do a night tour. @Wendy: we hope that you rest well and soon can be out and about again. Some mosquito nets in the windows had some holes and need replacement. A ceiling fan in the bedrooms would be a nice adjustment.
- Stanislav (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect place in the nature. Familiar ambiente. We realy like it.
- Frango🌏 (10/5): Exceptional - Very kind owner !
Lovely food from the grandma !
Perfect stay !
- Justin (7/5): Sleep to the sounds of nature - Location is nice. The family owns a large lot and have built a few homes along the road. Host was available to answer any question over whatsapp or to arrange tours for us. For a fee (4500 colones), guests can access the trail to catarata poza azul across the road. The night sounds are great, and toucans and tanagers come right to the guest houses. All the beds have mosquito nets installed which is nice. A portion of the windows nets are newer, but most have holes here and there. Keep in mind this is an eco house with no closed windows or ac, so bugs and humidity are to be expected. Moving furniture usually sends some insects scurrying. Not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of. However, the master bedroom had too many ants scouting all over the floor to be comfortable, and a huge grasshopper had become trapped in the room. The door or maybe windows have large enough gaps to let these in which should be solvable. The light in the room was burnt out so we attempted to clean up in the dark.
We did not have access to any internet during our stay. The host tried to reset the router but this didn't solve the issue. Cell service in this area is very spotty, so we were relying on wifi for this portion of the trip.
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional -

- Abigail (10/5): Wonderful stay surrounded by nature - This is a fantastic place. Amazing location surrounded by nature. Very welcoming family and delicious food brought to the house. The walk to the waterfall and guided night walk with Wendy was fantastic.
- Elodie (10/5): Exceptional - This place is authentic, the family is so beautiful and nice. We love the honest and the calme ambiance! Nothing is too much, everything is simple but juste pure.
The night tour was beautiful, so we'll explained, and very interesting. The welcoming totally perfect even if we booked last minute. And the breakfast... Just incredible. Not only because of the food, it was very good and gluten free for me, which can be complicate sometimes, but mostly because of the mother. The is a beautiful soul, full of love and kindness.
Thank you for everything! My partner is tall and the bed was a little bit small (Costa Rican size). Nothing terrible, and he get use to it because it is nearly everywhere like that in costa Rica.
- Robert (10/5): Lovely home - Good sized home. Kitchen was fully stocked The access road needs a little work
- Nathalie (10/5): I wish I could stay longer in this little house - The wooden house in a calm area, away from the road
Neatly decorated and very comfy , also two porches open on the trees and many birds are easy to observe from the house! Nothing
- Michael (10/5): A HUGE guest house tucked away in the quiet of nature - This "Guest House" is huge. A family of 4+ could easily move in here and live comfortably. The back decks are beautiful to just sit and watch the jungle. It is a little way down the road from the city, which means it is quiet and very laid back.
I had both a breakfast and a dinner while at the guest house. Both were great portions with a lot of variety, tasty, and well worth the money.
Unfortunately, my schedule and Wendy's schedule didn't align for her bird tour. There was lots of flora and fauna to explore. My personal sightings included Toucans and a Morpha butterfly. I'm willing to bet that there was a lot I missed that Wendy could have found and shared! Signage getting to the property is a little confusing. If you're going down the road and you come to a circular sign that says "Wendy's eco house", you've missed the entrance. Back up the road a little ways and you'll find an entrance gate nearby. This leads to the lodges.
I initially pulled into the house, and my presence there was very confusing. It took quite a while to work out where I needed to be. Once I figured it out, though, all was good!
- Shruthi (10/5): The hospitality was brilliant. Our meals were delicious and we felt welcomed and at home. - The serenity! It’s in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature. Very comfortable house. Nothing to dislike.
- Sander (10/5): Beautiful jungle experience - The house is in a beautiful location at the large property of the owners. They provided us on request deliciius meals freshly prepared! They are so kind and ww were sad that we ciuld only stay one night. Nothing. It was perfect!
Just come and experience! You will love it.
We would have wanted to stay more nights but it was not available . We hop to come back some day!
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hendrik (9/5): Superb - Lovely location and host, close to nature -
- David (10/5): The essence of Pura Vida, a beautiful place to stay! - We had an amazing stay at Wendy's place. If you would like a true Costa Rican experience staying with a beautiful family in your own house, then this is for you. Order breakfast and dinner every day and you will be very happy that you did! Wendy's mother brings breakfast to you, and her sister the evening meal. The food is delicious and plentiful and we had enough often to take for lunch when we were out and about. The birding morning with Wendy was great, and she arranged a fantastic river trip where we were the only two folks plus the captain and a young guide! We were adopted by the three family dogs and they almost always accompanied us on our walks up and down the road looking for birds. There is a tree a couple of hundred yards down the road that has 50 plus Oronpendula nests! We loved our 5 nights here and felt like we became part of their family. Nothing!
- Annette (9/5): Breakfast was served in the cottage, coffee was prepared there, and served with so much love, delicious. Beautiful peopl - it is a very charming cottage! everything was great.
- Friederike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lukas (9/5): Superb - Wendy and family are really nice and we had a great time :)
- Chloé (8/5): Would love to come back! - Amazing view from the balcony
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - We had an amazing stay. The location of the house is perfect, surrounded by nature. Many birds and other animals to see! Wendy and her family are so kind. Breakfast and dinner, made by Rita, tasted really good. Oso the dog showed us the way to a beautiful waterfall and swimming place nearby. Sarapiqui is a nice region, a lot of nature to explore without crowds. Don't hesitate, just book this place. You won't regret it.
- Jennifer (10/5): Unforgettable experience. - This is an extraordinarily special place. The situation is spectacular and the house is extremely comfortable.
Wendy and her family are an amazing team with their various roles to ensure a unique experience. Take advantage of Wendy's tours - she is hugely knowledgeable. Her mother and sister prepared wonderful food for us. Altogether an unforgettable time.
- Geert (10/5): Exceptional - wow what a great lodge. it is situated in the forest and from your balcony you have a marvellous view. the lodge itself is spacious and has all needed facilities. outside you will find a lot of different birds (birdwatching tour is highly recommended). just a short hike from the lodge there is a beautiful waterfall. Wendy and here family have treated us like family and we felt totally welcome.
- Lynn (10/5): Eco Lodge Sarapaqui - Wendy was welcoming and informative. The lodge was great lovely inside and outside balconies with fabulous get away from it all views. Great walk to waterfall nearby accompanied by our two lovely dog companions. We would recommend a car for further exploration. Dinner and breakfast were great and prepared by family members for a real at home experience with traditional cooking
- Reena (10/5): Truly blissful stay with gorgeous views and a very knowledgable host. - Wendy runs these lodges on behalf of the entire family who are resident nearby and what an amazing job she does! We loved our stay in Eco Lodge 1. It had everything we needed for our 2 night adventure in Sarapiqui. We also enjoyed a fab evening frog tour with Wendy who is so knowledgeable. She also kindly organised in house massages with her sister which were so relaxing and good value.
Wendy also organised white water rafting and chocolate tours for us, which we cannot fault and would highly recommend. We were also lucky to walk to the local waterfall which was just breathtaking.
The views from the balcony, the comfy beds, the space and the well stocked kitchen was perfect for us to experience beautiful Sarapiqui. Hot water too! The value for this stay is just incredible. Nothing - we cannot fault our stay.
- Carmen (10/5): Amazing place! - Our experience was wonderful, we were sorry that we couldn't stay longer. The house is very comfortable, clean, calm, and the view is incredible. Wendy was an great host, she immediately made us feel welcome, and pointed us to good activities nearby. I would definitely recommend staying here and would go back without hesitation.
- Moodie (10/5): A little slice
of true costa rican magic.. - Authentic experience, amazing hosts. A wonderful family. Much more to the place and family that own and run the accommodation than just running the accommodation. An inspiring bunch of humans that have lots of great ideas, talents
and a big heart x Wendy is also an exceptional nature guide, loved our night tour. The waterfall close by is amazing and very quiet (we had it our ourselves). The food was delicious and the dogs were fabulous too, followed us everywhere! We saw so much and wildlife from our balcony.. Howler monkeys, toucans, macaws, hummingbirds..
A little piece of true Costa rican magic right there 💙🌍 I'd love to return one day. Nothing
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Best accommodation in Costa Rica! Secluded (but 10 minutes from main attractions), beautiful cabin with views to rival t - The most brilliant accommodation! Looks straight out onto beautiful forest from both balconies. very well kitted out kitchen and comfortable beds with mosquito nets. Walk to the waterfall to swim and private night tours by Wendy were fantastic as were the meals cooked by her family. Can’t praise it enough! Nothing. It was all amazing.
