- kieran (10/5): Great place, would recommend - Friendly and helpful host. Property was very clean and had a nice layout. Short drive to Quepos and Manuel Antonio Nothing
- Ping (10/5): -
- Jakub (10/5): Paradise studio - The pictures dont represent whole beauty of this place. We had stayed around 10 nights at Casas Guaney. We were greeted by an Ara parrot which is greeting new visitors (if your lucky like us as it has a nest at the property entrance), the views from the kitchen and bedroom are amazing overlooking lush garden! Studio is fully equipped with all you would need for your stay. You also have access to a small garden area thats very beautiful. The hosts were available on site and were very frielndly and very helpful. The location is quiet you dont hear any traffic as its in a secluded location. Its a short drive to manuel antonio park and perfectly locates you within a short distance to quepos where you have apportunity to do shopping thats a bit cheaper then in manuel antonio. I should also add that the mattress was very comfortable. We liked the spiral stairs their a cool feature, there are 3 properties to chose from so if you have accessibility requirements you may prefer the option without stairs.
- Caja (10/5): Heel erg fijn!
- Steve (10/5): Loved Manuel Antonio and so glad I chose to stay at this property - Really lovely accommodation and perfect for my stay. Wildlife in the garden, clean and comfortable. Julia the host was kind and helpful and made me very welcome. Good location right on the main bus route so all beaches were very accessible. Exceeded my expectations in every way 😁 Nothing negative to say

- Morales (10/5): -
- Jacoba (1/5): - It was on a scenic little gravel road. Lots of plants around and the buildings were very pretty The owner only accepts cash. The parking area is very small and hard to navigate; the back patio smells odd and was minimally furnished. We looked at 3 different studios at Casas Guaney and all smelled heavily of mildew. The room we chose turned out not to have working AC and the owner was slow to communicate about/resolve the issue. It was unbearably hot and we chose to drive home to San Jose rather than stay the night here and hope the issue got resolved. We requested a refund but got no reply, and as we paid cash before we realized the issue there seems to be no recourse.
- Abhishek (9/5): Amazing stay. - Amazing property. Great location. I woke up at 5:30am to the loud sounds of a Puma, as if it was in the backyard. Macaw’s are in the front yard. Rocking chairs and hammocks are a good addition. Very very very spacious room. Comfortable beds with kitchenette, kitchen ware, fridge, microwave etc… overall a great great stay. Lizards inside the room and bathroom. But it’s understandable because its right next to a national park.
- Tonia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful fully equiped large studio surrounded by nature
Wake up to bird song from the rainforest. We even saw howler monkeys on our last day here. Lovely deck with hammock and rocking chairs. Fully equiped kitchen with free coffee. Easy access to Manuel Antonio, by car 5 mins, by bus 10 mins. Safe and secure. Definitely recommend.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabor (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, clean and spacious apartment, many animals in the area, close to restaurants and Manuel Antonio National Park, late night ckeck-in available.
- Lamak (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jana (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect, near to Manuel Antonio park as well as to restaurants and the town. In the garden and nearby the studio we saw more animals (monkeys, sloth, ara, tucans) than in park :)! N/a
- Anat (7/5): Good - , comfy beds, quiet, location, cleanliness, able to prepare our own meals, spacious insufficient light, discovered that there is no hot water at 9.30 pm, and owner's response was that it is too late now and will only be able to solve it the following day, uncomfortable chairs
- Jamie (4/5): Not as pictured. Bed bugs. Bad second “bed”. - Professionally decorated. On the surface it was beautiful. Rocking chairs on porch were nice. Secure parking (2 cars). Newly renovated. Not far from park by car. The 2nd bed was horrible. We booked 2 beds and there was only one on arrival. We contacted the owner who came by, pulled out an old mattress that was stored on the floor under the bed put it on the “pull out” couch with a sheet and said that was it. No top sheet. See our photos. Not what was pictured on booking. Response was they needed to update the photo. Got many bug bites sleeping on it. Terrible mattress that collapsed in the middle.
Pillows were old, and insufficient on both beds. No extra blankets.
Owner wasn’t there to greet us although we had arranged a time to meet and we arrived exactly at that time.
Enough coffee for half a pot total although we stayed 3 days.
It is between two towns so a car is needed to get to either Quepos or Manuel Antiono, which we had; but if you have no car walking is steep and precarious.
We could hear people talking in adjacent room.
- Daryl (9/5): Unique and cozy first lodging experience in Costa Rica. - I liked pretty much everything. Very unique and cozy place to chill for a week in Manuel Antonio. My unit was filled with lovely artwork which gave it a somewhat spiritual vibe - very impressive interior decorating. There was also an attached deck with a beautiful garden/ jungle view. It was a joy to sit out there at night and listen to the music of the jungle. The host was personable, informative, and welcoming. My unit had an upper and lower level with a very fun spiral staircase connecting the two. One of the most amazing experiences I had here was seeing two macaws on or adjacent the property, which I later learned are nesting there. Amazing! I would definitely stay here again if I’m lucky enough to return to Manuel Antonio/ Costa Rica. Nada.
- Lotte (8/5): Very good - The beautiful garden and view from the room. The bed and the shower were very comfortable. The owner did not welcome me, there was just contact via the chat. That would be a nice addition!
- Mellish (5/5): A cheaper ok place to stay - This property is reasonable value, it's just nothing special, and we stayed in some lovely places on our travels through Costa Rica, so were perhaps a little spoilt!
It's perfectly ok though if you are looking for something basic.
Room 1 is large and very spacious, there is a decent large fridge and the kitchen was well stocked with all you need, even a blender
Aircon and fans were fine
The other flat (room 3) that our daughter and her boyfriend were in was modern, with a good bed upstairs and modern bathroom.
There is a good veranda with a hammock and rockers I think each property is a little different, ours (room 1) had 2 beds and was rather tired with an ancient cooker, the beds were very basic and not particularly comfortable, old fashioned sheets with no mattress protectors on, plastic flowers and a rather scary looking native Indian head on the wall. The bathroom was ok but had a suicide shower. The curtains didn't keep out the light and windows were really dirty. The lighting in both flats was very stark and minimal with cold white bulbs, and the fridge in room 3 wasn't cold enough
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cubero (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ricardo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loose (8/5): We had a wonderful time here. - Loved the bar and restaurant right there and a path to the beach. Loved being able to just walk down the street to shops, other restaurants. Heard loud music from bar/ restaurant til 10pm.
- Marina (10/5): Wonderful-Best stay of our 2 week trip - Everything . Room huge and well furnished with kitchen and dining table as well as 2 beds . Shower was great . Hot water , storage off the bedroom for clothes and suitcases . Outside area and use of washing machine and drying line . Flexible with payment when I could not get cash . Friendly owners . Very responsive The walk from the bus stop a little precarious at night . No fault of Accomodation but no pavement and big ditches for drainage and quite dark down to the property . The road property on was fine though !
- Grace (9/5): This place was perfect for our needs. Very nice unit and property, central to the area. - The 2pc bath next to the loft bedroom was great. Well equipped kitchenette which we did not use this time, as time was short. Great AC shower and outdoor areas. Nice secure parking. Bed comfortable. Bed could be larger, the space can take a queen or two beds, and better spot for luggage/clothing. The sitting area could be more comfortable or set up for sleeping, we were two friends and may have used it as a second bed if more ready access to extra bedding.
- Jorge (10/5): Great price for a great space, definitely worth it. - A lot of space, super confortable, I was traveling alone so there was a lot of room left. Everything you need is available, including wifi, a small but nice equipped kitchen and a nice clean bathroom. There’s even a washing machine that you can use while you’re staying. Everything is cool, you just have to know that you have to walk a little bit to get to the bus stop but for the price is definitely worth the extra steps.
- Victor (9/5): The surrounding areas are amazing and the beaches as well . - We enjoyed the jungle life and the quiet areas . The morning calls of the monkeys and bids Nothing much
- Julia (7/5): Good - The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The garden is very beautiful and the casa was comfortable. It was a bit dark after sunset - it would have helped to have lights apart from the ceiling lights (which wasn’t very cosy) like floor lamps.
- Aysin (8/5): Very good - The room was very clean. The bathroom was nice and very clean. There is some bug but it is understandable in Costa Rica and it is not a big deal. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and everything was great also shower pressure was okay and the water was warm. If you have a car the location was perfect. We didn't use the kitchen but if someone wanted to use it there were little flies. That doesn't mean it is not to be clean but it is a wooden house and it is good to know it. The bed was okay but it could be more comfortable. Otherwise, everything was fine.
- Tiziana (7/5): Good spot but needs improvement - The location is great, with easy access to Manuel Antonio national park.
Free access to washing machine The room had a very strong smell of naphthalene that did not ease during our stay. This was extremely annoying and I would not have booked if someone had mentioned it in the reviews.
The kitchen was very old and outdated, but functional.
The beds were ok.
We did not get to meet the owner who communicated only via WhatsApp. (Very responsive though)
One evening someone came to ask for rent in cash, a bit dodgy to be honest.
Overall ok but not the exceptional experience we expected from the rating.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location, looking out over the ocean. The bed mattress wasn't great
- Natasja (10/5): wonderful apartment, highly recommended! - Lovely apartment, had everything I needed, good kitchen, including blender to make smoothies, spacious, nicely decorated, very cosy. Nice little private garden, where two parrots made their nest in the tree. Communication with host was fine, although mostly with app, no personal contact. My worry was that it would be inconvenient without a car, but that was no problem at all: you can walk to the main road, where there are frequent buses to the national parc and Manuel Antonio beach. I found it also easy to hitchhike when I missed the bus, parc and beach are the end of the road, and all cars go there. Teva hostel is near (walking distance) and has a nice (Moroccan) restaurant. nothing.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Kuan (10/5): Exceptional - Superb! Massive room with all the facilities you need. Nice deco and plants on the porch. Host was very accommodating and helpful. 10/10
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - This is my third time staying here. Any more questions? Absolutely nothing.
- Margherita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): Great serene place to stay! - We stayed here for 2 nights and it was lovely! The place we rented was spacious, super clean, and cozy. It had a fridge, air conditioner, a small kitchen, a coffee machine and a nice little porch. We got to hear howler monkeys and see a parrot on the property. Location was only 10-15 minute drive to restaurants and attractions. Would definitely stay here again!
- Nat (10/5): Great home, spacious and in quieter location - We loved being able to cook the home, the kitchen is well equipped and works great. It’s in a really beautiful and peaceful setting with a big porch and garden behind, we saw lots of monkeys. The bus was easy to hail from the road for either Manuel Antonio park or Quepos town and only 385Q pp.
There was a manual washing machine on the property which was a life saver for us backpackers.
We could easily walk to Ronny’s Place for a beer! The road into town or towards shops isn’t easily walkable, it’s hilly and busy with big cars or busses. But the bus was easy!
Our hosts were very friendly and responsive to our questions- but we had quite a few questions because there wasn’t any information on arrival. They have a book of tours but not practical things eg. Where to hail the bus and how much it was for a taxi. Perhaps a book of this super practical information would save them from answering basic and frequent questions for each guest.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Luis (10/5): Great property for local tourist - Location, big house for 2 people, two bathrooms, beautiful property No space for more than 2 cars, someone left his car outside the property and the window was broken, it’s not safe to left your car outside the property
- Chiara (9/5): Wonderful, cosy retreat - we had the a flat entirely covered in wood, with wonderful features ans a thai feeling. The frint and back gardens are small but lush and there is a creek by the house. the AC works well and is silent. Perhaps some.additional shelves and pegs would help. and some bed side lamps
- Kristine (5/5): Love the space and location. Communication from the renter could be better. - Absolutely love the location and the space. Unfortunately our rental was half of a house and there was a regularly crying young child in the other half. This greatly affected our relaxation and sleep. The shower does not have hot water but that wasn't an issue for us. The location is very convenient to the restaurants and beach but be aware, nothing is walkable. Not because of this place or location but because the main road is not walking friendly at all (no sidewalk). So you will need to drive to get anywhere. The outdoor area of this space is wonderful and we spotted many bird species, monkeys and a sloth. Since our space was listed as no children, I naturally did not expect a young child in the space connected to ours. I did contact the renter but he did not respond to my concern.
- Jose (10/5): Comfortable home away from home. - It's a four-unit property. We were the only guests due to low season, I imagine, so we had the common patio areas all to ourselves. There was a hammock and rocking chairs to view visiting wildlife (birds, iguanas, two types of monkeys, and even some macaws made a quick appearance). The washing machine was convenient and a plus considering we packed less because of it. The unit was a large studio w two bunk beds and a queen that were comforable enough. AC worked great. Kitchen had the basic utensils and appliances w a decent size fridge. It was a great stay for us. We had a rental car and were able to quickly get to everything in Manuel Antonio. Parking was never an issue since we were the only guests (might be if all units are occupied since parking is limited to two, maybe three). Would stay here again. More hammocks would have been nice since everyone wanted to lay in the only one available! Honestly, best stay we had on our trip.
- Nancy (6/5): Economical, average place, good for multiple people in one room. - Not too far from activities, when driving. rooms were ok. had a kitchenette, if you needed it. was affordable. Macaws nesting in front of property! Beds were too soft. fans barely kept it cool enough to sleep. no one on premises, so when we went to pay, they had to send someone over at 10pm.
- Jayna (8/5): Fab apartment with great views of the rainforest. Helpful host and decent location. - Great apartment overlooking the rainforest. Very comfortable. Loved the outdoor space!
- Eva (10/5): Surrounded by nature - + awsome location near Manuel Antonio park and Quepos but in the nature - a lot of birds and monkeys you can see during sitting on veranda
+ two aras came to tree trunk on the veranda every morning and evening
+ we saw tucan directly from bed
+ very well equiped kitchen
+ friendly owner
We really recommend. /
- Rainer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Itai (8/5): Lovely terrace and garden - Good location. Very nice garden with a creek and very close to the forest. A lot of birds to see.
We were 5 and we got two apartments. There was a big difference between them. The newer one was small but nice while the other one was big but very dark with heavy curtains and it had an unpleasant smell. There weren't good conditions for cooking (very small kitchen and not well equipped).
The smell and atmosphere of the old apartment.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Great host; lots of exotic birds in the area
- Shruthi (8/5): Beautiful studio, close to beach. - beautiful location, nice big studio with almost everything to cook a meal and close to beach. The stove is very old and takes for ever to heat up. The dishes were not cleaned in many weeks. And the cookware was all worn out.
- Sgiann (9/5): Superb -
- Mario (10/5): Home in Manuel Antonio - Fabulous, spacious, and clean room. Perfect for a short or long stay in Manuel Antonio.
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): A truly relaxing place to stay in a beautiful location - Casas Guaney is easy to reach by car, and the local bus route between Quepos and Manuel Antonio passes by the end of the road (approx 250m from the property). There is free parking right outside the property.
We loved the location! Although it's not far from the shops and restaurants in Manuel Antonio, it feels really rural and there is wildlife all around the property. We were entertained by Macaws, Toucans and Squirrel Monkeys most days, and it's easy to walk further in the immediate area and see more of the local animal- and bird-life.
There are four apartments at Casas Guaney, two traditional and two more modern, but all in a sympathetic style. The traditional apartments are on a single level, which is great for anyone with limited mobility, while the newer ones have a spiral staircase to the sleeping area (which also has an ensuite washroom and second WC). All the apartments are well-equippped with air conditioning, hot shower, fridge/freezer and cooking facilities.
During our stay, we met Renan, the owner, who could not have been more welcoming. On arrival, he showed us round the apartments and was happy to advise on places to eat for our first night. We were able to make full use of all the facilities, which included a twin-tub washing machine located in a laundry area behind the apartments.
For the price, we weren't expecting 5-star luxury, but Casas Guaney exceeded our expectations. It's comfortable, clean, spacious enough to relax without being cramped, and great as a base from which to explore the surrounding area.
We would definitely stay here again if we return to Manuel Antonio. There's not much to fault ...
If you're a first-time visitor to Costa Rica, be aware that it's common to have only a cold-water supply to a property. Although all the showers are heated, only the two more modern apartments have hot water in the kitchen. This won't spoil your stay, but don't be surprised by it!
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - The beautiful garden and wildlife you could watch from the porch
- Tomas (10/5): Piece of paradise. Surrounded by nature close to Manuel Antonio - Fantastic location, very close to the park (10mins with car) and to multiple beaches and cafes. You are surrounded by nature, we saw howler monkeys in the backyard, a Toucan in front of our window, turtles in the water. The room was spacious, and had all the amenities you need to cook, make smoothies etc. I would stay here again next time. We were also able to do our laundry which was a big plus. When cooking the smoke has nowhere to escape, so you need to open the door and turn on the fan. But this is just nitpicking.
- Maria (8/5): Very good - Spacious and clean room, immersed in nature with beautiful gardens, bathroom is large and clean, well equipped kitchen with coffee machine and pans if you want to cook The walls are thin so you can hear the neighbours, difficult to get around without a car
- Amy (10/5): had a fantastic stay and would recommend to anybody - beautiful property, so much nature and wildlife nearby
- Betty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francesco (8/5): Nice staying in Manuel Antonio - The accomodation is in a very good position to visit the Manuel Antonio park and Espadilla beach.
The owner is very kind and the room is big and equipped with everything you need. Beds were too soft for us
- Anzhelika (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. Nice owner, good room with everything you need. They gave us room even better with amazing terrace. Higly recommended -
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - It's a very nice place, with a very friendly owner. Personally I like a mattress protector on the bed.
- Anna (10/5): Great place off the main road with everything needed while staying. Private parking, lots of birds! - It is very roomy and nicely designed suite with everything that might be needed while staying. The suit even had a walking closet. There were (right on the property) bird feeder and we have watched different birds such as tuckans, macaw and others. 7-8 minutes to drive to Manuel Antonio Public beach with great Sunsets and about 10 minutes to Manuel Antonio National Park. White face monkeys, sloth, racoons and more animals are right there! The electric oven is a little slow, but it is not a big deal.
- Gonzalo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ibrahim (10/5): Exceptional - The place and the host were very nice. We even got room upgrade. All was good in general. Definitely recommend this place.
- Jared (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay - The location was fantastic. About 7 min from the beach, about 3 to 4 minutes from resteraunts in manuel antonio. About 10 minutes away from the cheaper grocery stores in quepos. The pictures on booking didn't give the unit justice. better pics on airbnb. Has a small creek running in the back of the unit thats a shared space. This apartment was adjoined / shared with 4 others. We didn't hear much noise coming from the adjoining apartment.
The check in / checkout process was easy and very fast. they were very quick to respond to messages.
The unit was super clean. The bedroom is in the loft with a 1/2 bathroom (no shower or tub) in the loft. There is a lot of open light that comes into the unit and has a window upstairs that overlooks to the neighboring property that is thick with vegetation. fantastic way to wake up in the morning.
The kitchen has a medium sized refrigerator, microwave and stove top. The kitchen is shared with the small living room that has a love seat and two chairs. There is a table to eat that seats two.
The downstairs bathroom has a nice shower with a rain head. We never ran out of hot water taking a shower.
This unit is located off the main road about 100 yards. The road is not paved. There is room for 2 cars in the main driveway. The rest of the cars park on the side of the road. The area does not receive a ton of traffic. If you're cooking regularly at home there could have been more supplies in the kitchen ie cereal bowls and a few other luxury items. Parking is limited to two vehicles on the driveway and the rest are on non paved road. I felt super secure in this house due to the property being off the main road.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. From the check-in, the clean an spacious room, the wonderful nature around the house to the very friendly hosts.
The bath was very nice and clean as well. Also, it is only 10 minutes car ride away from the Manuel Antion park.
Would highly recommend it.
But you got to be prepared to communicate in spanish or improvise with hand gestures because the hosts don't speak english. This is not a downside but just for information. Only tiny downside is that the electric stove isn't heating up so fast. But with patience it works just fine.
