Guest Reviews
- Amada (5/5): - La cercanía del mar La ubicación y que las fotos no corresponden a la oferta
- Giorgia Pannozzo (5/5): - Balcony in from of the rooms was a great place to chill out, although needs more lights. Dogs were cute. Very rustic, not at all maintained. All the reviews seem outdated or that there was a different owner before. Listing is incorrect, for example, it said there was a restaurant there but there wasn't, no wifi despite being listed, not even able to buy water. Doors didn't lock, the room next to ours couldn't open and close their door at all. No sink or running water even rainwater to wash your hands. One toilet/shower, the other two were out of order. The generator failed on two our three nights which meant an unbeatably hot room, although they did try to offer a small discount for this. For most of our stay, the beach chairs our front were super dirty and sandy so we couldn't even enjoy sitting by the water, on the third day they woke up and cleaned them and offered us a towel to use which was much better. Location in terms of in the beach is not the best for swimming; the water is quite high so very little sand and often dirty.
- Merle (10/5): Would definitely go again! - Kryz and José were really nice! They took such good care of us. Their children are sweet and polite as well!
The location is great, it’s more quiet and calm. Easy access to boat transfers. The carribean food they make is super delicious. The hosts are happy to help with any questions! Almost nothing! Only the bed was a little uncomfortable and the bathroom needs getting used to. But nothing that you would not expect living in such a beautiful beach house.
- Cahill (10/5): Overall, I can't recommend Posada Shekinah Baru highly enough. - My recent two night stay was exceptional. The ocean view from the hostel was incredible and the food was delicious. The hosts were very friendly, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. I do not have anything negative to say about my stay! Highly recommended!
- Simone (10/5): Highly recommended! - + in the quiet area of the beach
+ small family run hotel, very friendly hosts
+ fresh food, good prices for Baru
+ sunbeds
+ positive vibes
+ balcony and hammocks
I just love this place and I would definitely come again! It’s sooo relaxing and the owners are super friendly! Wished I could stay longer!
- John (8/5): Very good - the location is very good and Kriz is so helpful, the beach is fantastic. The inn is rustic, it is understandable due to the isolation of the place, but the infrastructure in bathrooms and water can be improved
- Rene (4/5): The location is very nice but the room, the hygienics, etc does not fit to the photos - The help and commitment of the host, very friendly and supporting! The hygienics, especially the toilets and shower were afwul and the kitchen! Never would stay there again
- Hughes (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are rustic with a balcony and a view of the ocean and steps to the waves. The hosts are a lovely family with 2 young children. Our children enjoyed playing with their kids and animals. The entire family was very welcoming and kind. It is located in a quieter area of the beach and it is very peaceful when visitors leave in the late afternoon and early morning. trash on the beach,
- Caer (10/5): Beautiful people. - Amazing location very friendly and warming. The nicest family you could meet they make you feel so welcome in there homely environment.
A must visit If you stop off in Baru even if it's to see the beautiful family. That I had to leave
- Kaitlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): A beautiful place to enjoy a stay right on the beach - The staff were very nice and the food was good. Also the location was excellent. The bathrooms were clean. The wifi wasn’t reliable.
- Kenedy (9/5): Bliss - Beautiful family run place right on the ocean. You go to
sleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. Kris was so helpful, attentive and friendly. nothing!
- Sana (8/5): It's a busy place and will be noisy wherever you stay. Bring ear plugs - The owners are exceptional people and go out of their way to look after their guests. The upstairs ocean side rooms share a big balcony which is the perfect place to hang out and get away from the busyness of the afternoon beach crowd The noise from the other guests. The walls are paper thin and you can hear the guests in the rooms behind facing the swamp moving around and talking even when they are whispering. This really needs to be fixed as there was coming and going late into the night. The other guests also sat out on the balcony partying until quite late and the owners did not say anything or ask them to be a little quieter.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Diego (9/5): Great stay at Shekinah - I had a great stay at Shekinah. The hotel is 10 minutes away from the parking place where all tours arrive, it has only 3 rooms with a balcony overlooking the sea where you benefit from a hammock, table and a living room to enjoy the afternoons protected from the sun. The hosts are great, offering sunbeds, coffee and welcome drinks as part of the stay and taking care of all your needs, from providing help on how to arrive to making cocktails or meals as requested. Not having a socket in my bedroom to charge my phone
- Albin (8/5): Sand, salt and freshly caught fish! - José, the host, is a very chill guy, an excellent chef and will make sure that all your needs are satisfied, always with a smile on his face. He helped us book a half day boat tour at a good price and even served us freshly caught fish in the morning! The breakfast was very good considering the location and what's generally offered on Playa Blanca. It is simple living, so just don't expect too much of the facilities. Shower pressure is low and toilet is manually flushed, so it is more like a glamping experience, but with simple standards.
