Guest Reviews
- Jana (7/5): Nice stay at old man‘s house - The rooms belong to an old man. He speaks all languages and likes to practice with the guests. You absolutely have to talk to him for at least 30min when you arrive and when you leave. Don‘t book here if you don‘t like that Everything is kind of old but it seems very authentic. You have to pay like 1€ more to use the air conditioning which was necessary in mid August

Not luxury but rustic and genuine and I loved it!
Recommended for those that want a real Bulgarian feeling! 🙂

- Norman (4/5): Disappointing - There is nothing wrong with being frugal (particularly if you all that you need is a place to put your head for the night). But (IMHO) this place is a ‘brace-your-self’ frugal. First, there is the location. It is located in a stairs-access only area. Moreover, stairs-access through a ‘favela-like’ shamble of buildings. Even with Google Maps etc you will be hard pressed to find this place the first time without a guide. Second, the building’s access point. It feels like a dark crack beside a dilapidated shed. Third, the facilities themselves. The bedroom feels like it is from old Aunt Martha’s pressed into use storage area in her creaky attic in her tired home, using the antiquated furniture that was being stored (hoarded?) up there. Ditto the tiny sitting area and adjacent bathroom.
- Mihael (10/5): Unique stay totally worth the price! - Very cozy and unique atmosphere, beautiful shared room with flowers and a view to the city from the private room's window. There are many cats wandering around the house, some let me pet them, which added onto the vibe! The property is far from luxurious, but for the price paid it is exceptional! The heating with AC worked well too. Stoyan is such a friendly and interesting guy, we had a really nice conversation upon my arrival. The bathroom could be a bit cleaner, at least without the random water bottles, but it's fine for a few days. The owner asked me to pay extra 3lv per day for electricity if I wanted to use the AC, which I found a bit odd especially since it's such a low amount- I would have preferred it to just be in the price already so I would have coins prepared for it.
- Miten (8/5): Very good - Location it feels like movie , owner is a old guy with very friendly nature, love to make conversation it was nice experience Noisy bed
- Malwina (10/5): Exceptional - The room was in a beautiful place on the hill. The room had a beautiful view of the city. The owner was very kind and helpful. Thank you for your hospitality Nothing
- Bozhidara (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. The guesthouse had very nice atmosphere, our room was very neat and homey and the location was right in the heart of Veliko Tarnovo. Our hoast Stoyan was a very kind man that did everything for us to feel at home and have a good stay. I would 100% come here again and I definitely recommend this guesthouse. For the price it's more than enough.
- Mira (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Muhammad (10/5): Its was wonderful experience , very comfortable place and cheaper and good view outside area - Yes
- Shreedhyan (3/5): unpleaseant - no comments everything
- John (1/5): To be avoided - Location, price Having confirmed my arrival time day the before , I was surprised to find only a Tel. No. at property. Fortunately I had an international SIM card so was able to phone and proprietor soon appeared. He informed me that staying would not be possible as he had just been informed of bed bug problem by previous guest. To explain this he showed me a 5 ltr. container (empty) of bug & lice treatment. I was not allowed into property and the owner apart from saying sorry offered me no other solace for my predicament. He didn't know of alternative accommodation for example. It was coming up to a holiday w/e and at such short notice I could find nothing suitable on booking. com so was forced to curtail my trip and head for the station.
This is not the treatment I am accustomed to by guest house owners. I obviously advise other potential guests to Diana to avoid.
- Adel (3/5): Poor - Owner was a nice and chatty folk.
The room is in the center of the city surrounded by many restaurants. So very helpful to visit city and eat out. Very old house and room. Very much outdated furniture.
- Ivan (7/5): Good -
- Андреа (10/5): Exceptional -

- Yoan (9/5): One day stay in Veliko Tarnovo - The location and atmosphere. Air was not fresh.
- Stanimir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgi (5/5): Passable -
- Greg (6/5): Overall ok. If on budget, this is the place to stay. - If you just need a place to stay and sleep and not spend much, this is the cheapest you can find on booking.com. it hss the basic you need. Room has aircon to heat up so not cold. Very quiet so definitely good for a good night rest. There are towels provided and tv but mostly in bulgarian. Toilet is shared with another room if there are guests. Toilet is basic but clean. Place is near to main busy street and has nice view. Owner is very friendly and helpful The kitchen belongs to the owner. If you need to use, you will have to call him to open the door for you. But owner is vety fast to respond. Fridge is in the kitchen too. But dining area outside room is cool enough to store some food. Kitchen is very small.
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (5/5): Passable -
- Aleksandar (8/5): Very good -
- Emmet (10/5): Exceptional - Very cheap and owner is incredibly friendly The room I was in had no window so very little natural light grand for the 2 nights I stayed but wouldn’t stay long term.
- René (8/5): Real Bulgarian Hospitality - The host is a shining example of true hospitality and I felt home at once. I had a beautiful authentic Bulgarian room in the heart of the beautiful city of Veliko Tarnovo. Stoyan told me the guesthouse is named after his daughter. My stay at this place was truly a wonderful experience. Thank you Stoyan! There was a little bit of traffic of other guests coming and going which I found to be a little bit disturbing.
- Georgi (1/5): Bad -
- Martin (8/5): Nothing fancy, but good value for a night - The owner was very friendly and it was good value. Nothing fancy, but good for one night. The Guesthouse was difficult to find. The location was down some very steep and rocky steps.
- Violeta (2/5): Very poor -
- Johan (2/5): Very poor - The central location, the low price During my stay l got several sometimes painful insect bites, as the number of these increased during my stay it must be a serious bedbug problem. There was no pain during the bite, but afterwards. There were also mosquitoes.
- Juan (7/5): Good -
- Thomas (7/5): Good - Very close to city center. Helpful owner. Room is big enough and bed is comfortable. WI fi was excellent.
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional - The place is in the centre yet secluded which is awesome. It is very unique and cozy :)
If you can choose a room, choose the one with windows looking to the city, such an amazing view!
Host is very kind and warm.
- Laura (9/5): Superb - We felt so welcomed by Stoyan! The place was very cosy and the AC was great, especially with some very hot days in summer. The location was great and the room had a magnificent view. We loved chatting with Stoyan and really felt like we were having an authentic stay in a Bulgarian home. We were charged a small fee for the use of the AC each day and although it was only a small amount it was not mentioned on the booking prior. We understood that running an air conditioning unit was expensive so it was not an issue, but it would be good to be informed of this in the booking description. We would still stay here again regardless!
- G (7/5): No frills, budget accommodation. - Excellent location 2 minute walk from towns main Street
Hot water, good shower, comfortable bed, good wifi
Friendly owner
Good quiet AC, owner charging 2 LV a night to use it though Lots Mosquitos, no nets on Windows, very hilly location, stairs to reach the guesthouse
Could be cleaner, carpet in room not vacuumed, bathroom not wiped down/moped
- Colin (7/5): The place is very old, expected. Lots of mosquitoes due to dampness. Amazing location. Kind host. - Very friendly host, kind man.
Amazing location.
Close walk to everything. Very old place. Rugs. Furniture.
Lots of bugs, mosquitoes.
VERY poor wifi.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Cool cheap place
- Mladen (2/5): Very poor - The location, all time connection with the host, nice window view. A lot of flowers and figs three next to the windw. The price is cheapest. Cleanliness - the floor, walls, especially bathroom wasn't good. There was a objects in the trash bin in the toilet. Strange thinks you may see on the floor, ceiling, The long outdoor passage to the rooms looks litle scary. The wardrobes in the room are closed by ugly padlocks. The furniture is old and smells. Everywhere are plastic bottles of water.
The owner loves to talk and newer stops.
Extra payment for using the airconditioner.
- Raivo (5/5): Mixed feelings - good room and a bathroom that needs a touch-up. - The host was very friendly, tye location was on spot, very close to various restaurants, shops and historical objects. The bed was comfy, view outside the window was nice. Although you cannot expect world-class comfort from this price range, the place could definitely be more clean. There is a coffee machine that takes very little mugs - however the mugs were not clean. The shower should also be cleaned up - there were spiders, various bits and pieces of something above and below the boiler. The bedroom on the other hand was very nice!
- Ralitsa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wojciech (5/5): Passable - Cheap place but far away from comfort. Could be cleaner. But old owner is worth to support him
- Tseneva (10/5): Exceptional -
- Garry (8/5): Very good - It warm and cosy . Not luxury but ok for couple of nights. Nice people 😁
- Antu (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sweety (10/5): Exceptional -
- Радко (10/5): Exceptional -
- (^__-) (2/5): Probably the only place for cheap bed that too if you can't find anything else - The only likeable things was that the man spoke multiple languages so communication was easy. And the price maybe that too is a stretch! The Rooms overall the entire location has a peculiar smell.
For the winter, you can imagine going to the toilet in - 2° C temperature
- Sergeja (8/5): Very good - Very friendly owner
- Igor (8/5): Highly recommend for friendly atmosphere with modest expences. - The host is worth all the money and much more, especially taking into account reasonable price. Speaking many languages and friendly to the utmost. Location can't be more central (for Tarnovo).
- Daniel (10/5): best rock bottom budget accommodation in Veliko Tarnovo -
- Jillian (10/5): We really appreciated the facilities and the location. The bed is clean and comfortable. - The property is centrally located and has a stunning view of the monument. Be careful if you have big bags as you will have to navigate lots of stairs and there isn’t a lot of room for suitcases.
- Gordon (9/5): Superb - A good location, a very nice gentleman who owns the property. I rebooked after my first visit. It is set in the historic part of the city, close to the centre. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
- Gordon (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly owners.Comfortable and close to the town centre. Would stay here again. In the historic part of town stunning scenery and lots to see.Thank you for a wonderful stay.
- J (10/5): Very cosy place, charming host, excellent location. - Small place at the heart of Veliko Tarnovo, situated on one of the stair alleys down the main street and just above one of the oldest streets of the old town.
Charming host, who received us with fresh figs.
The place is small, but there are lots of mirrors :-) and the space is used very efficiently.
The bathroom is luminous and the shower works perfectly (the water on the floors drains / dries very quickly). The room had no proper window, but the wonderful kitchenette-salon with lots of flowers and wonderful view compensated that.
A larger wardrobe would be a useful addition.
