I loved the records to play in the commom area!

- Anton (10/5): - Perfect place to stay in Tokyo: you wake up, turn on Fairport Convention vinyl, and discuss Japanese music with the staff. The whole guest house looks like a place from Spirited Away.
- Charlotte (10/5): top !

- Tess (10/5): a little pocket of peace in the heart of tokyo! - staying at komatsuya was absolutely magical and filled to the brim with character and warmth! i felt as though i had stepped back in time, sleeping here was like staying overnight at the museum! the staff were an absolute joy to be around and always made you feel comfortable and welcomed, greeting you as you would come and go. they put so much love and respect into this lil haven, it felt like home away from home and i truly looked forward to retreating back inside at the end of every outing! no comment!

- Konstantinos Papsanakis (10/5): Komatsuya Guest house. - I liked that it had a very relaxing and casual warm atmosphere! You can really find yourself at home. You can listen music in the night, and it is also very near to the train station of Sky tree and to the Tokyo Sky tree of course! You can easily find the guesthouse if you just follow Tokyo Sky tree! Just that the room is for a japanese person and I was always hitting the lamp. And I am not high. So if the lamp can go higher that would be awesome and perfect!

- LeoGack (9/5): -
- Elsa (10/5): Loved my stay here, will definitely go back next time I’m in Tokyo - Super cozy, home away from home feeling. Location was really good too Nothing
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Santella (10/5): A great comfortable stay with a kind host. A lovely way to end my 2.5 week solo trip in Japan. I would stay again! - Komatsuya was cozy and clean. I loved the common space with an incredible collection of records that guests can enjoy. I was in a 4-person female dorm, which was comfortable and spacious. The public bath down the road was also a bonus! Nothing. Some may think that the location is a bit residential, but you are very well connected to other parts of Tokyo by metro, or by walk to Asakusa and Skytree.
- Raffaela (10/5): Perfect place to be to relax and chill, after visiting the city - Nice and chill share place with a wonderful sélection of vinyles. The host , the calm, the good vibes . Everything super clean. Notthing

- J (10/5): - The guesthouse is incredibly cozy, comfortable, and clean. For music lovers, the guesthouse has a nice record collection to enjoy. The staff was exceptionally hospitable and helpful. I highly recommend this place!
- Sabrina Malen (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Cozy and warm stay close to key sights in Tokyo - Great location close to Skytree Station (~8 minutes walk) and very nostalgically designed. The vinyl collection is impressive
Price was very good and the room was quite spacious due to the bunk bed set up (desk on the bottom and bunk bed on top)
Host was very kind, conversational in English and very eager to help, interact with guests. I felt very welcomed under their care.
Thank you for having me, I will come again! Potential guests, please temper your expectations for the price of this accommodation vs what is offered.
There is no laundry but coin laundry nearby, it will set you back around 400 yen at time of writing; detergent and drying is also a separate fee. The coin laundry is a bit run down but functional - this is not operated by the host.
There is only one bath and shower to my knowledge (I stayed on ground floor) and it could get busy (I shower quite late, it didn't cause me any problems). There is a public bath house nearby for 500 yen, towels are an extra 250 yen. I recommend visitors to try it at least once.
The walls are thin and the doors are a bit rickety, if you are a light sleeper this could be a problem - ear plugs are provided by the host for this reason
- Emmy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michele (10/5): Central and relaxing ryokan lovely rooms and staff. - Perfectly located 5 to 10 minutes walk from great shopping and restaurants. The staff were fabulous and went above and beyond to find things like a power cable for my laptop.
- Pirita (9/5): Well kept gem - Very sweet spot with great detail in docoration. Dorm bed was good. I stayed 2 nights, could have been longer Air was not fresh in dormitory
- Anastasia (7/5): Good - Cute little place within walking distance to the Tokyo Sky Tree and about 10 minutes from the nearest station. Owner is the nicest guy and will help you out however he can, staff was also very nice! Small kitchen and hangout area available to meet and hangout with other travellers. It's extremely tiny and the stairwell to the 2nd floor is very tight so moving luggage up there is a bit difficult. Building is a very old house so noise does come through very easily. Only one shower (towels can be rented for ¥100) so you either have to wait if it's busy or head to the public bath house around the corner. Wish I had gotten a private room on the first floor as my roommates in the female dorm were very noisy at all hours of the night and morning.
- Stella (8/5): Knusse accommodatie - De ligging --
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - This place was cozy and spacious. The staff (Arisa chan) was really friendly and helpful. I had a great time mainly because of her. Meawhile, I also enjoyed the public bath which was only less than 1 min walk away. The lady owner was very kind and interesting. Hopefully I can come back soon.
- Lenka (9/5): Superb - Nice staff, spacious rooms for local standards :-) Beds were not comfortable
- Rytė (9/5): Superb -
- Yo (10/5): Exceptional - I arrived in Tokyo during a rainy evening, the staff member Arisa has been super welcoming and warm.
Really enjoyed the common area where you can choose to play music of your choice (they have a huge collection of LPs). Having a traditional bath house nearby was a huge plus - completes the whole “live like a local” experience for me. Overall it felt really cosy, literally like a home away from home.
- Bexlee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catalina (10/5): Amazing! 10/10! So clean, beautiful, welcoming and comfortable, I felt at home! - LOVED IT!!! One of the highlights of my trip to Japan! I stayed in 3-4 stars hotels and this hostel stole my heart, the staff is so so so nice and friendly, and the guests were really nice too! The place was spotless and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Everything was awesome.
- Winton (7/5): Good -
- Breann (10/5): So awesome - Komatsuya is a great hostel located in an exceptionally convenient area. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I had a major delay in my flights and they went above and beyond to help me check in at abnormal times for them. Also overall the vibes are just great. Thank you for having me! N/A
- Sylvie (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (10/5): Excellent - Loved staying ag Komatsuya, very homey atmosphere. Great location
- Teresita (10/5): Exceptional - Everything of this stay was perfect. Very calm atmosphere where you can listen very good quality of records, art books, and the decoration is beautiful!!! The owners were lovely and helpful with recommendations. And the bed was incredible. 10/10 Nothing
- Ryan (9/5): Cozy - Very cozy single room, shared toliets were often free and very clean, little to no noise at night - nothing that can’t be ignored.
- Jennifer (8/5): Overall a pretty good deal for Tokyo, a cute place to stay. - It’s really cute, with details like a vinyl record listening lounge. It isn’t far from the Skytree Osinge station. The room was really tiny, but to be fair Tokyo is the home of capsule hotel rooms so it isn’t that unusual there. Compared to a capsule I suppose it was spacious. I’m a tall person so it was challenging.
- Wiwat (9/5): Superb - Very clean. Staff was so friendly. Location is good Solo room quite small
- Qiwei (10/5): Exceptional - The door can be a little different to open with the key
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Stylish and comfortable decor. Made me feel very comfortable staying there. Nice spot to lounge in free time and good privacy in my solo room.
- Michelle (7/5): Alright stay for a first timer in Tokyo - location is great! It’s in a quiet neighborhood near to Tokyo skytree. It’s my first time in Tokyo and asakusa is really close (walking distance close) and Ueno as well. I love the vinyls and decor of the place, it’s a really cute house.
there’s a lot of things to explore like cafes and restaurants all in a 5-15 minute walk - dorm is on the 2nd floor, if I knew that I wouldn’t have booked as there’s stairs and not the best for large luggage.
- the room is really tiny and not much space to sit around with luggage from 3 people total. I was lucky to have the room alone for the first night
- it wasn’t always warm enough in the walkway, toilets and sometimes common area, as the heating is from the aircon only. someone had turned the heater off on my last night to morning and it was freezing in the common area on L1 when I went down as toilet on L2 was taken at the time.
- NOTE: only 1 shower for all guests, or head to the public bath nearby. great idea (shower and public bath) for non winter weather as you’ll basically be exposed to the elements.
- staff not really onsite, and rules were unclear if shared upon check in (as I wasn’t aware until i read the card in the rooms) and walls are really thin and I could basically hear neighbors from next room and their whole conversations as they were talking at normal volume even after 11pm except for my last night. maybe someone told the staff?
All in all, for the price paid for 3 nights I had expected more? It was non refundable too.
- Lula (7/5): Pretty but unpractical - It is very well decorated. Very well located. Super unpractical with only one shower and no storage space. Also there is only one small towel PER VISIT, no matter how many nights you stay, no other amenities. The staff is there only some hours per day. Also the bed is super uncomfortable!
- Axelle (10/5): I felt like home in this establishment. - It was very cozy, since it is kinda small there’s not a lot of guests so you can easily talk to each other or be alone drinking tea and listening to music. It is also clean and confortable, near the subway. It is a quite neighborhood with nice public bath
- Ramirez (10/5): Exceptional - It is a nice and cozy hostel with amazingly friendly hosts. It's very nearby Tokyo skytree and it's station. Asakusa temple is only a 15 minute walk.
- Samantha (10/5): Cozy stay in Tokyo - Such a lovely spot in a great location in Tokyo! Beautiful common space and everything was clean and quiet. The rooms are very small, but if you're traveling solo then that's totally fine!
- Susanna (9/5): Great location and friendly staff - The location was great, very close to the Asakusa station. The staff were very friendly and I enjoyed talking to them. I appreciate that they let me leave my luggage for the day until I had to catch my flight. There is only one shower! This wasn't a problem as I was able to time things well but maybe could be a problem if you wanted a shower in the evening.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The bed was comfy and clean, the space was really cool and the staff was very lovely and helpful. The sink/washing facilities were limited but the close proximity to a public bathhouse made up for it. The rooms are small so I bumped into the light fixture while getting changed.
- Borsje (9/5): Superb - Everthing was really clean. The living room was comfortable. The host was really kind. The walls are thin like paper. This does not have to be a problem if everybody keeps this in mind. Unfortunaly I had A really loud en inconsiderate neighbour which impected my sleep.
- Amelia (10/5): Clean, comfortable, homey. - I felt so at home here and I was sad to leave! It’s beautiful and comfortable - a wonderful place to return to after a long day of exploring. I will not forget my time here! I loved everything about it.
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marzena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rougie (9/5): Superb -
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ju’ (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ami (10/5): Exceptional - Great vibe. Clean and friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends. Thank you very much!
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chia (9/5): Superb -
- Yi (10/5): Exceptional - The hostel owner was extremely kind, and made conversation with me despite the language barrier. There is a small communal area where you can heat up your food and listen to records - I enjoyed doing that extremely much! There is only one shower room, so do take note it could get busy at night. Personally this was not a problem for me!
- Izzy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tobias (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (8/5): Very tidy - Clean tidy rooms, has small kitchen area with kettle and microwave. Close to train and shops, lots of food options. Only one shower so have to time it, no towels, staff limited English only come when you ring them so will need an to beable to use sim in japan.
- Sofia (5/5): Passable - There seems to be a ferret or mice living in the walls. They were very active during night time.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sydney (6/5): Clean and cozy, but hard to get a good night's sleep due to noise and uncomfortable beds - The location is good, and the hostel is very clean. This can also be a good opportunity to meet and talk to new people. The host is nice, but he speaks no English, so please be prepared to speak some Japanese. The biggest issue was the noise. There is virtually no noise guard between your room, other rooms, and the lounge area. Some guests were inconsiderately playing music and talking late at night (12-1 a.m.). If getting a good night's sleep is a priority, I can't recommend this place.
Additionally, the pillow was very flat, making the bed quite uncomfortable.
- Lachlan (9/5): Walking Tokyo is an experience not to be missed, Komatsuya offers a well place stay close to Oshiag' - Small rooms, great atmosphere in living area with vinyl records and friendly cooperative staff
- Hugo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Chantal (9/5): Superb -
- Yoann (9/5): Very welcoming place out of the crowds tumult - Great owner. The place is also so welcoming and has in my view a particular charm. It is kept sobre sometimes looks like tinkering but always it keeps a certain elegance and style. Difficult to describe but I just loved it. Air conditioning also in the room which is very appreciated in warm and humid end of June. Great vynils also. nothing
- Stella (10/5): A stunning guesthouse with warm hospitality - highly recommended! - I really enjoyed my stay here! The staff are so friendly and it was fun to chat with them about Tokyo and other places I was visiting. I stayed for 2.5 weeks and they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and happy. The lounge area is beautifully decorated and a lovely place to relax, and the entire guesthouse has little decorations everywhere. One of my favourite things was the wall of guidebooks which the host has created for guests to write about their home prefectures/cities/countries - a lovely touch and very handy for onward travel! The location in Oshiage was really nice for a longer trip as it was a relaxing place to come home to rather than the chaos of places like Shibuya and Shinjuku. And of course right next to the Skytree meaning you get to admire the illuminations every night. There is easy access to the Hanzomon and Asakusa subway lines. Overall an amazing guesthouse and one I would love to return to in the future! The only slight downside was that noise travelled into my room from outside - heavy rain (to be fair it was a typhoon so a bit more loud than usual!), trucks from the nearby fire station, and some kind of workmen. However they provide earplugs to help with this and I think it might have been specific to my room (the single room at the back on the ground floor). Not a big deal at all but maybe something to mention to the host if you're a light sleeper :)
- Pippa (9/5): Superb - Super clean. Staff were so nice. Beds were private and comfortable. Small kitchen area with microwave and kettle. The steps to the top dorm rooms are really steep and difficult with luggage (no lift). Only one shower which was inconvenient.
