Such a great host, incredibly helpful in explaining the mysteries of Iguazu Falls, how to get there etc. the house is a wonderful place to come back to after a long day exploring. Great food options within walking distance of the house which Loe recommended. Honestly it was the perfect place to stay. 10/10

• Kim (10/5): A slice of heaven in Iguazu! - This was by far our favourite place to stay on a recent trip to Brazil! It’s simply lovely - beautiful attention to detail in terms of decor and the back yard with swimming pool is a wonderful relaxing retreat. Ole provided us with a lot of information about the area, as well as suggestions as to where to eat. We also enjoyed meeting his son, Casper, and interacting with Chico the dog and Mimi the cat. The continental breakfasts were amazing - lots of choice. Ole is the consummate host, so friendly and down-to-earth. We highly recommend El Refugio as the place to stay during your next visit to Iguazu! Absolutely nothing!!! Loved it all!

De pousada is keurig verzorgd en biedt een prettige, ontspannen plek om te verblijven. Tijdens ons verblijf voorzag Ole ons van waardevolle tips en dacht hij op alle fronten met ons mee, afgestemd op onze wensen. Alles was tot in de puntjes geregeld. Dankzij zijn uitstekende netwerk konden we gebruikmaken van betrouwbare chauffeurs tegen een zeer schappelijke prijs. Het ontbijt was keurig verzorgd en compleet. Wat we erg waardeerden, is dat het werd aangepast aan wat we daadwerkelijk consumeerden, om verspilling tegen te gaan – iets wat wij erg kunnen appreciëren. De recensies op Booking.com leken haast te mooi om waar te zijn, maar ik kan jullie verzekeren: ze kloppen écht. Deze plek en deze gastvrijheid zijn een bijzondere ervaring. Een absolute aanrader! Echt niets op aan te merken.
• Hugh (10/5): Your palace in Foz - This is a beautiful guesthouse where a kind, intelligent host looks after you in every possible way. Our room was frankly palatial and Ole serves a superb, big breakfast with hummingbirds on the back porch. Strongly recommended!! Nada

Ole the owner went over and above to make us welcome and even got up early to serve our breakfast at 7am, on our last day. The complimentary soft drinks and beers were a nice touch. Would not hesitate to recommend El Refugio, we will miss Ole and his family, even Chico, the 🐶 Nothing, it was a great stay

Ole is an amazing host, absolutely fluent in English, very knowledgeable regarding excursions, restaurants, ..., and was extremly helpful. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of fresh fruit, including the coffee, what sometimes is a nightmare in Brazil . The garden with the pool is calm, cozy, very green, and offers relaxation.

• Selen (10/5): A Paradise House That You Will Never Want to Leave - I can safely say this: This was the most amazing place I ever stayed in all my vacations. Ole and his family created such an amazing facility: The furnitures they collected from different parts of the world are just incredibly beautiful and very authentic, and the garden they made is just breathtaking! We just didn't want to leave the place after having our breakfasts in this nice garden. You can literally spend hours hanging out in this refuge, but you have waterfalls to visit so at some point you have to leave the house :) Ole also did an amazing job with the room, everything was very clean and thought for. And it was the most comfortable bed to sleep in! Ole is a very kind host, and he also helped us a lot with organizing our trip to Iguazu Falls, he answered my questions beforehand and even sent me suggestions with links before coming to Foz de Iguazu. While we were there, he helped us to plan our days, and also brought us to the Argentinian border with his car so that it wasn't too complicated for us to pass the border & visit the Argentinian side of the falls. I have to say Ole and his family poured their hearts out for this place, and it became the most amazing villa to stay. We are very thankful to them for making our stay not only relaxing & comfortable but also very inspirational! It was one for the books & we will never forget!

• Klaus (10/5): Most caring host in Brazil! - Super comfortable room. The host Öle was amazing and helped us in every way to have an optimal experience at the Waterfalls. There were also some excellent restaurants in town.
• Ellen (10/5): A Garden of Eden in the middle of Foz do Iguaçu! Go there and see for yourself :) - El Refugio is a Garden of Eden located in a quiet side street right next to Foz city center. The house itself is outstanding and all facilities of an exquisite quality! The garden was my favorite place with an aboundance of exostic plants and flowers. The pool in the middle of the garden is big enough to have a proper swim after an exhausting day. Swimming and/or relaxing in the garden is just wonderful. The room was quite spacious, super clean and had a big confortable bed. The bed linen felt super soft and were of high quality. There was even a real duvet - not just a sheet to cover yourself. The bathroom had a big shower; warm water was always available. Additonally, there was a refrigerator with some soft drinks and beers free of charge. The breakfast (served in the garden) was of high quality and always freshly prepared. Ole asked me what I liked (I am vegetarian) and adjusted the breakfast accordingly. I really enjoyed the company of my host Ole as we had some amazing conversations. He was really helpful and answered all my questions regarding how to visit the waterfalls or how to cross the border to Argentina and assisted me when needed. I highly recommend El Refugio in general but especially for female solo travellers as it is a wonderful place that is super safe and welcoming. Thank you Ole !!
• Diana (10/5): Top notch place to stay. Would come back again and again. - I’ve been traveling for several weeks in Brazil. This was by far the best experience at a hotel I’ve had. The host is very helpful with questions, the building and grounds are beautiful, room was spacious and had every amenity you could think of. Host includes a wonderful spread at breakfast - much better than anything you’ll get at a large hotel. I wish I could have stayed a couple more days to enjoy the pool and relaxing mood. Nothing.

• Alessandro (10/5): Paradise in Foz do Iguazu - Ole and his little paradise El Refugio welcomed us with excellence. The room was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. There was even a fridge with cold soft drinks beers and wine in there that we could take free of charge. Each morning Ole prepared for us a fantastic breakfast on the terrace that filled us up for the whole morning. Ole also offered for extra charge trips to the airport and the cataratas which was very convenient for us as we didnt have a car. Nothing all was perfect thanks to Oles hospitality and wonderful house.

A refrigerator had complimentary water. The neighborhood is quiet. We walked into the downtown area within a few minutes which provided us with a wide selection of restaurants.
