• Vinšek (10/5): Outstanding - We had an excellent stay at this hostel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, everything was very well maintained, and the cleanliness overall was outstanding. The staff was also extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. We would definitely recommend this hostel and would happily come back again. There was nothing we did not like.

Éramos cuatro adultos y la habitación un poco pequeña, así que Tanaka nos dejó una habitación extra por unos días para estar más cómodos por el mismo precio. Todo estaba súper limpio y el servicio de lavandería es gratuito. Repetiría sin duda.

• Lieve (9/5): - The owners were extremely nice and helpful, very attentive to details and wanting to make you feel welcome and taken care of as their guest. They even dried our shoes when we came back after a walk in the pouring rain, and took care of laundry, explained best routes to airport and attractions etc. We (family of 5, 3 kids between 9 and 16) stayed in 1 family room with a small living area and kitchenette and private bathroom. Everything was very clean, beds very comfy, and the room was very well soundproofed against outside noise, we slept very well! It is in a more residential area of Tokyo, but well connected (10 min from subway/JR line). There are two supermarkets and one restaurant very close by, but apart from that you have to walk a 10 min or so to find some more dining options. Overall great value for money, and I definitely recommend it!

Room was bigger then expected with comfortable beds, kitchen, and we had a private bath with tub included. Everything was there we could imagine and even more from washing and drying service to shoe dryer. Very friendly and helpful hosts made it a really pleasant stay.

Laundry service at no extra cost, all folded neatly on our return from our day out. 8 minute walk from Toei line Ryogoku station and 18 min walk from JR station. Easy to navigate from for our outings. Comfortable futons. A view of skytree from our windows and also walkable within 30 minutes. Very clean. Would definitely stay here again. We used the downstairs kitchen occasionally and found it to be useful for our travel needs. Nothing to not like

Mr. Tanaka and his wife r such hard worker, and they help us do laundry and fold everything nicely when we couldnt do it during the day. Theres a Lawson right in front of the property, 2 family mart and 2 7-11 nearby. 10 mins walk to station which is amazing. Mr Tanaka help us forward our luggage and it was such a smooth experience. Thank you so much for having us! I cannot wait to go back here! Arigato gozaimasu! nothing

• Edoardo (10/5): - Mr. Tanaka is probably the best host you could ask for. The hostel is extremely well maintained and spotless, and the rooms are spacious and equipped with every possible amenity. Mr. Tanaka is incredibly kind, always available, and a valuable source of help for anything related to Tokyo. He is exceptionally thoughtful with his guests, even offering to do laundry daily or every other day, and providing a complimentary bottle of water and snacks in the room. The location is excellent: about a 10-minute walk from the Oedo Line subway station and around 15 minutes on foot from Ryogoku Station. Without a doubt, one of the best places I have stayed in Tokyo. I would definitely return.

• Abigail (10/5): One of the best places I've stayed - It was perfect. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed. The owners were so kind, they couldn't do enough for me. One of the owners did my washing for me and folded it all, free of charge. There was a selection of cookies left in the room. Toothbrush and toothpaste. They thought of everything. There's a kitchen if you want to make your own food. Towels provided each day, left in a little bag on your door handle. Highlight was definitely the owners, they were so sweet and kind. It was in a quiet area which I liked, felt very safe and calm. I walked around late on my own and felt perfectly safe. Incredible place, would recommend to anyone. Nothing at all

• JASON (10/5): Phenomenal - There was not a breakfast. Location was good, a little quiet but that was what I was looking for. It would be nice if the doors to the rooms were code access instead of key access so you don’t need to carry a key everywhere with you but that’s just a nitpick.

Il nous a été offert des petits goodies pour notre départ. Merci pour tout ! Le logement est un peu éloigné d'Asakusa et du métro, mais j'avais réservé le logement en connaissance de cause. Il y a quand même un bus à 5 minutes à pied 🙂

Location is perfect for visiting the city, close to metro and JR station and walking distance to all attractions in Asakusa (one of the most beautiful district in Tokyo). Mini markets very close to the accommodation. Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Since our stay in Japan has been quite long we really appreciated the availability of washing and drying machine. What really made exceptional our experience in Oyado Kien Ryogoku has been the hospitality and kindness of Tanaka san and his wife. They were always taking care of us, even anticipating our needs. We travel a lot, but we never experienced such an amazing hospitality. Many thanks Tanaka family!

• Jeannette (10/5): Tolle Unterkunft: unschlagbares Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, freundliche Besitzer, super Lage - Super freundliche und hilfsbereite Besitzer. Sehr saubere Zimmer und Toiletten/Bäder. Die Lage ist auch toll. Zu Fuß ist man in 25 Minuten am Skytree. Mit dem Bus braucht man nur ca. 15 Minuten. Zwei Bahnstationen sind jeweils nur 5-10 Minuten entfernt. Man kommt zu so ziemlich allen beliebten Gegenden in unter 45 Minuten. In der direkten Umgebung der Unterkunft befinden sich gleich mehrere Convenience Stores (Family Mart, 7Eleven, Lawson) und ein Supermarkt.

Dès le début ils se sont soucié que l'on soit bien installé, que l'on sache comment se déplacer et ils nous ont même aidé pour que le retour à l'aéroport soit le plus simple possible. La chambre japonaise était cozy, propre et parfaitement agréable. Rien. Je pense que c'est un des meilleurs hôtels possibles pour un séjour à Tokyo en famille.
• Jacqueline (10/5): Small family-run hotel in the quiet Sumida district - Comfortable, quiet room on the second floor with the shared toilet and shower room nearby. The kitchen and common area were a useful bonus for a quick breakfast put together from the Lawson convenience store opposite. The hotel owners were delightful, always available to offer help and advice. The subway is a short walk away, with lots of cafés and restaurants nearby. Everything was perfect!

• Emily (10/5): Comfortable stay, great owner, would stay again. - The stay was better than expected. The owner was super friendly and responsive before and all throughout our stay, the room and facilities itself were very comfortable and roomy with the futon beds and sitting area in the room. We got a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and futon beds for 3 that came with a minifridge, sitting area with a low table and seat cusions, connected toilet room, and the facility has complementary communal laundry and a diningtable/sitting area. The owner was also super helpful and accommodating throughout the stay. He also provides both indoor and common area slippers, but please take note of which are which (indoor slippers are on the raised threshold while common/outdoor area slippers are the bigger grey ones on the tiled floor area. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a cozy place in the area. If I had to nitpick, there was no elevator, but was a non-issue for us as we were on the second floor and the owner helped us with all our luggage.

• Breanna (10/5): Will for sure stay again when we come back in a few years! - The staff were wonderful at communicating what the facilities had to offer and the facilities themselves were in a great location and felt so authentic without feeling primitive. Super close to convenience stores, a mall, the Tokyo sky tree can be seen outside our window, and the laundry was so convenient. Really loved everything. There was even a cute festival that went by during our stay! Room being on the second floor was tricky for luggage but the staff helped bring up our bags on arrive which was great!
• Christine (10/5): Perfect! - It locates in a quiet residency district but just opposite, there is a convenience store, you could just drink and snacks, etc. It is around 6-8 minute walk from the Metro Station which nearer than I thought. The room is clean and cozy. The shared bathroom and toliet are also managed very well, It was the first time to have tissue paper and a little rubbish bin inside the bathroom, it is so sweet for ladies. Tanaka San is a great host! He helped us everything even we raised out the last-minuted request. Nothing!
• WEN FU (10/5): 非常舒適的住宿體驗，真心推薦。 - 老闆很親切，會細心解釋所有住宿注意事項，連同房間清潔和床單更換的日期都會預先告知。 房間非常乾淨，此次是單人入住雙人房，空間當然相當充足，若是兩人入住的話，也不至於壅擠，但行李箱應該是無法放倒在地上了，衛浴在房間外，同樣是猶如全新般的清新潔淨，是老闆每天早上親自打掃的苦心成果，房內有洗手台可以做簡單的盥洗。 床墊和被子非常舒服，床墊是有點軟會下陷的，配上被子有點輕飄飄的包裹著，每天都睡到不省人事。 墨田區不是特別熱鬧的區，旅館附近的景點並不多，同一區的龜戶天神社和晴空塔要步行約30分鐘，當然體力好且有足夠時間享受城市的小巷風景的話，還是推薦可以走一次看看。 如果要入住這裡的話強烈建議要買東京地鐵一日劵做搭配，附近是兩國地鐵站，可以連接到其他地鐵路線。 總的來說，交通稍微較不方便，但瑕不掩瑜。

There’s also a kitchen available for use and a laundry service. There are many interesting museums nearby, and you can take a lovely walk to Asakusa through the park. Plus, there are a couple of food shops just around the corner. We missed having blackout curtains in this room; it was too bright in the early morning.

• Aixarat (9/5): A great place with friendly staff. Located in a quiet neighborhood, near public transportation - Excellent staff, relatively near major points of interest and public transportation. This is a traditional house made into a kind of hostel.
• Ines (10/5): Stay comfortably in quiet Tokyo area - Cosy, clean, comfortable - I easily felt at home at Oyado Kien. Host available and helpful. Location perfect to stay in a residential, quiet Tokyo area (perfect if you prefer, as I do, to be away from the tourist crowds and closer to the locals). Supermarkets and nice sento nearby.

• Genevieve (9/5): One of the most value-for-money accommodations!! - Although the location isn’t in the CBD area, it was very convenient — metro lines were nearby and more affordable than the JR line. The room was also more spacious than accommodations in the CBD, and at an even more affordable price. Cleanliness was consistently well-maintained. Fresh towels were provided daily in an eco-friendly bag hung on our door handle, and indoor slippers (shared with other guests) were available. Housekeeping was done quite frequently, and we were informed of the schedule upon check-in. I also appreciated the thoughtful touch of a shoe spray to keep our footwear fresh. Tanaka-san and his wife were incredibly hospitable. They kindly helped with our luggage, especially as we had to climb a few flights of stairs. Tanaka-san also offered helpful recommendations on local attractions and directions. There was a small pantry area where we could prepare cup noodles and enjoy complimentary milk tea, tea, and coffee. The room itself was comfortable — the pillow was soft, the blanket fluffy and cozy. A personal basin with a mirror and ample space for our toiletries was also available in the room. The shared shower and toilet facilities were clean, with designated toilet slippers provided. It’s worth noting that each floor has only one toilet per gender and one unisex shower cubicle. However, we were able to use the facilities on the floor below, and since we typically returned late, we never had to queue. Snacks were provided in the room and replenished during housekeeping. As a lovely gesture, Tanaka-san even gave us a souvenir (rice crackers) before we left! Overall, I highly recommend this place for its value, service, and amenities — especially if you're comfortable with shared bathroom facilities. There was no hand soap in the toilet (I couldn't find one) though there is one in our own room
• Paul (10/5): Exceptional - I had read a lot of good reviews about the hotel and Mr. Tanaka before we got there, they are true. The hotel is very clean, it is at a convenient location, almost 1 mile east of senso ji and 1 mile west of the sky tree. Mr. Tanaka is a kind person who helps and gives useful information about the area. Overall we had a wonderful experience staying at Oyado Kien.
