Guest Reviews
- Gemma (7/5): - Well located. The man running this guesthouse is very friendly. The rooms are a bit hot in the summer, but otherwise a decent place to stay

- Giulia (10/5): Feel like home - A real family

- Matthias (5/5): Acceptable when everywhere else is booked out - The location and the nice owner Mattresses are 2 cm thick, the place is mosquito infested, very dark and crammed, not very clean.
- Theodoros (10/5): -
- Vera (10/5): Traditional home in Bangkok - Feeling I was in a traditional home in Bangkok
The vibe, the owners, the cat, the travellers I met.
I was happy here :)

- Lieven (10/5): Paradise like. - The Villa is a paradise for people with an open mind. The place is a warm nest for artists and searchers for more. By the way, you are in an authentic Bangkokhouse. The owner is wonderfull and funny. Everything is nice.
- Daisy (10/5): Beautiful and historic - Such a charismatic old worldly experience in the midst of the city! Surrounded by a lush garden of green 🌱 I felt like I was in a studio ghibli movie! I wish we could’ve stayed longer!
- Enzo (10/5): Amazing place, very quiet and relaxing. The small outdoor courtyard is a real bonus, and the owners are extremely kind a -
- Nicolas (8/5): Peaceful -
- Chris (7/5): Interesting - The location is excellent and the building itself gives you a taste of bygone Bangkok. Could perhaps use curtains or blinds.
- ruslanasu (5/5): -
- Tristan (8/5): -

- Giacomo (9/5): - I love this place. Very calm and nice. Beautiful. Not all the socket are perfectly working but it is fine.
- Masaki (8/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- David (4/5): Not for me - ever again. - Location. The bed was so hard that I had body pain and could not get enough sleep. The propery is loud at nite .. either noise from guests or from the neighbors. There are only 2 shared bathrooms and both were on the other side of the building making using toilet in the nite a rediculous effort. Its like sleeping in an old museum.
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional - Not for spoiled people (doesn't have Aircon), it's inside an old building with a beautiful garden.
- Irene (8/5): Great location and wonderful old style thai building. You feel this is what thailand was like 50 years ago. If you like - The villa is in an old thai style wooden house with a great garden area which is unusual in the city. The neighborhood is quiet with many small eating places but is close to busier places if you want that. This was my 3rd time staying here. The kitchen facilities could be cleaned up and better organized.
- Nikita (7/5): Good -
- Lou (2/5): Interesting..... little comfort......Too expensive double standard room - It was nice to get to know an old traditional house with a nice, quiet garden in the centre of Bangkok.
One night however would have been more than enough to discover this. Once inside the house, everything was so dark.
Nobody was there to meet me. It didn't really bother me as I was very early. I just waited in the garden as I imagined it was still too early to check in.
When I was led to my room later on the darkness continued.
Dark in the corridor, dark in my room. The lightbulbs gave only a faint light. The next day I asked for a better lightbulb and did get one, but it didn't change much. I took advantage of the little chair under the lampshade during this operation to remove a thick layer of dust from the lampshade.
There was a beautiful old desk, good to leave some stuff on. But no place to properly hang clothes. One could place some clothes in a beautiful old cupboard, but it didn't look very clean. Just very dusty. There was a fan standing on a plastic chair.
Very old electrical sockets. One for the fan, one for the antique wobbly lampshade on the desk and one extra one at the opposite wall. Only little sparkles came out of it when I wanted to use it to charge my phone. So I was reluctant to use it, and used the wobbly lampshade one instead.
I had a standard double room, as I didn't want a tiny claustrophobic single room and was prepared to pay more for that. The room was situated on the ground floor, next to the shared bathroom.
The shared bathroom was smelly, had hardly any ventilation.
Stepping out of the bathroom I avoided the wet, dirty looking carpet lying in front of the bathroom door.
A water-pump outside my window gave me the irritating soundtrack for my dark stay. Every few minutes, day and nigh, it would switch on.
This started only on the 3th ( and last) day/ night of my stay. Maybe it was a new water pump.
I had 2 reservations of 2 nights (because of a change in my plans). I very quickly regretted this double reservation but could not cancel the last 2days. Too bad. I made a mistake to reserve something without " free cancellation until...."
I stayed 3 nights of the 4 reserved nights.
- Luca (1/5): I would not come back. If you want to have a good sleep this is not the place you want to end up in. - The location is just nice and The property is somehow fascinating but definitely not enough to decide to stay here compared with the downsides. The most uncomfortable place you can immagine. The rooms at the bottom floor are dark, very noisy, full of mosquitos and the bed is incredibly uncomfortable.
- Anouk (8/5): Very good - Awesome location in a quiet neighbourhood with many nice cafes and bars in beautiful sidestreets by the canals. Quiet place, old but stylish furniture and very kind owner. Quit a lot of mosquitos, we were very happy to have our own net and it ruined the beautiful garden a bit - bring a lot of mosquito spray if you want to enjoy it ;)
- Ellie (7/5): We liked it but maybe not for everyone. - Staying here is a cool cultural experience, which id recommend— you get a feel for how Khao San was when it was becoming the melting pot it is today. I feel this place has changed very little since the 70s or 80s and that gave us a piece of Khao san neighborhood we enjoyed (the street itself is now hyper-touristy and hectic). Peaceful and quiet garden, clean & big rooms. If you can’t do hard beds, do not book here. Whatever you’re thinking, they are harder than that. We thought we were in for worse but actually slept well. Downstairs bathroom smelled pretty rank. No AC which is too hot to bear if in middle of day - at night was okay and they let you have as many fans as you want.
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aleksandra (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing experience! Beautiful wooden Traditional Thai house, feels like you are in old movie , and very cute and kind owners. Wish to stay here next time!
- Vanessa (7/5): Now that I have learned a few things, and know what to request when I book, I will be coming back! - I loved the guest house. It’s a beautiful, quiet place to stay in Bangkok with lovely gardens. The bed is rock hard, so be prepared, but it’s kind of worth it for the peaceful admosphere. If you book in advanced, be sure to ask specifically for a room on the side with bathrooms. Otherwise, they will put you on the side with no bathrooms and you will have to walk down stairs and across the house to pee every time!
(9/5): Amazing location both central and quite - Amazing location, both quiet and super central.
The house itself is beautifully decorated. The shared bathroom were not amazing.
- Bektas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elias (8/5): Very good -
- Ludovico (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. It was a very quick walk to a lot of great things. And the fans at night kept you cool and the mosquitoes away. The place is great. There was a bird that will wake you up shortly after sunrise but the birds are everywhere in Thailand so you can't escape them bring earplugs or use them as an alarm clock and use the bathroom before the other guests get up.
- Nicole (8/5): Very good - I liked that it was in the middle of the city and it was a quiet place with birds, a nice garden and traditional Thai style, I recommend it. There were only two bathrooms to share.
- Serenius (6/5): Pleasant - Close to tourist central but tucked away and quiet. Link on emailed booking did not send us to the correct location. Bed was rock hard, pillows were terrible, shared bathroom was shared between many people, quite dirty and far away from our room.
- Marc (10/5): Hidden Oasis - This is a real Oasis in Bangkok. We stayed here two nights, then moved to a hotel in Silom and regretted not staying here longer.
The whole atmosphere with greens and birds around and the wooden materials are a real treasure in this city. Your will never get this in a downtown hotel.
Still the location is perfect, very close to attractions, the river, restaurants and bars. We booked the most expensive room option (deluxe king I think) with pictures of a large bright room with many windows.
We were checked into a pretty dark smaller room in the ground floor without any comment.
Only when I asked about the room not looking like the pictures they moved us to the upper room for the second night. that room was a million times nicer. I didn't bother to ask for refund as this place is anyhow very affordable
- Zdena (10/5): Exceptional - Very quiet and piecefull atmosphere, historical furniture, garden and morning birds singing 👌
- Oded (1/5): It was a traditional hotel 50 years ago. Today stay away - Location was ok I read the reviews before booking and thought that ot couldn't be that bad, but it was. Room wasn't suitable for staying in western standards. No curtains, old dangerous inefficient fans, noisy floor, hardwood like mattress. I had to book at another hotel and stay there. My recommendation: pay 100% more and stay in a real hotel.
- Nikki (8/5): Villa Guesthouse is cute, traditional Thai home in quiet area near to Koh San road - The villa is a traditional Thai house, the family still live there and have turned it into a home stay - it's super cute, wooden, cosy.
Located on a quiet street in a nice peaceful area near to Koh San road but not in the direct hustle and bustle.
There are cute coffee shops, restaurants, local restaurants (very cheap) and of course street food vendors everywhere.
Highly recommend this guesthouse (lighting is ambient so be aware if you prefer big bright lights in your room or have visibility requirements)
- Samuel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marin (10/5): Exceptional - The guests were really nice and welcoming, the rooms were OK and the location perfect!
- Robine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diego (8/5): Love it - Original Thai house
- Victor (9/5): very good - very good everything
- Christian (9/5): A nice stay, very central, in a traditional house with picturesque yard. - In interesting place to stay. The small guest house is run by a brother and a sister, both elderly people, who are very nice and funny. They helped with everything one could need help with and were fun to talk with. I also enjoyed the semi-adopted cat, even if she was - as the brother told me - a bit too lazy to catch mice or bugs. The beds really were hard, as everyone has already described. You need quiet guests staying with you, as the walls are thin.
- Ian (10/5): Magical - Old world charm and garden Few things (like doors and chairs) were a bit wobbly
- Adriel (9/5): Superb - antic vibe!
- Peak (5/5): Passable - the location host make u feel like u are not welcome , like invading their space , do not say good morning or anything, supposed to be non smoker , can smell marijuana all nights , & the garden has a table & chair but it is always occupied by smokers ...
- Saifur (7/5): Good -
- Daria (8/5): Authentic, beautiful and magical energy. - The hotel is very authentic, with a beautiful garden and realy magical energy. The owners are very nice and hospitable people. And location house is convenient. But without air conditioning in the room it is very difficult, there is intense heat in the spring. I would return to this place in a cooler period of the year! It's very hot in the spring, the fan can't cope.
- Ruchika (7/5): Good - The place of stay was a traditional Thai Villa with great wooden interiors. Run by an old couple -brother and sister. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the original Thai way of life.
- Planseabook (8/5): Charismatic old house in a quieter but cool BKK neighbourhood - Location is in a quieter yet hip and well serviced area, 10 mins walk from busier/noisier Khaosan area. Restaurants, cafes, shops are very close. The location grew on me as I stayed longer. The house itself is unique, full of charm and mysterious history. Outdoor garden / terrace is fine to take a break. Vibe was chill. Unknown at the time, I was allotted the only small and dark room in the house, which was extremely hot during the day. (Tip - ask for one of the bigger rooms: They look amazing! I think this would have changed my viewpoint, but I would stay at Villa again in less hot weather). Room was super hot and main fan was broken. Running water stopping on my final morning (no shower / toilet), exacerbated by the heat, was disappointing.
- India (10/5): Beautiful and unique on a budget - We loved our stay at Villa Guesthouse. It is a gem in the busy city. If you want unique, and beautiful spaces on a budget then this is perfect, shared kitchen all can use and thoughtful hosts.
- Maja (9/5): The touch of the magic in Bangkok. - Old hous, incredible owners, a the garden, patio, incredible, touch of the past. Just one bathroom for so many people.
- La (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (5/5): Passable - Garden and the seating outside. There were cockroach in the room, the bathroom smelled like piss and the matrass was super hard. I also got all biten by insects ....the matress didnt look clean
- Sonia (7/5): Good - The staff very endearing, good location
- Maurizio (8/5): Very good - Staff and location
- Petra (8/5): Very good - Location very good. Atmospheric old house. Lovely garden. Nothing.
- Lieven (10/5): Idem ;-) - See smileys above Idem ;-)
- Paul (9/5): A beautiful time capsule of older times. - Villa Guest House is a beautiful time capsule of ‘old Bangkok’. I’ve stayed here a number of times and like the ambiance of the house and location which is an easy walk to the river piers to take boats up and down the Chaopraya or into Banglamphu.
Khun Lek is a good host as is her son. They are kind and helpful.
There is a quiet garden to sit in or lie in a hammock and relax.
- Jijiahong (10/5): Irreplaceable - Beautiful place near the crowded street, easy to get everything but quiet and peaceful like an olden life living in noisy. Touching the wooden furnitures and under the dark light in the room will makes you fall into the dream of traditional Thai life aesthetics. Highly recommends to the people who want to enjoy the slow mood from ages, but it’s definitely not for those want perfect hotel service experienced.
Thanks again to the owners for hosting here that I can have this experience, wish I will come back soon.
- Inglis (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful garden area in the midst of the city. Lovely room.
- Tracy (6/5): Good value for money, but minimal comfort - The place had a nice atmosphere and was peaceful and quiet Minimal lighting in the room, just a dim lamp only
- Conrad (3/5): Nice nostalgic interior, but stifling hot. - It’s located quite central and calm. Because of no AirCon it was extremely hot and stifling. Bathroom-sink was broken - so due to a missing pipe the used water just felt on our feet.
- Maurizio (7/5): Good -
- Premkumar (9/5): Superb -
- Paulo (10/5): Exceptional - Feels like traveling in time.
- Edgar (1/5): Bad - Nothing All
- India-sioux (7/5): You get what you pay for ☺️ - It was a great experience to stay in a traditional Thai house! The brother and sister who run the place are very sweet and the garden is lovely! Area is pretty good! It was super hot, some reviews said the fan was enough but we didn’t think so… The beds are Thai-style so rock hard, be prepared if that is not your thing!
- Maximilian (10/5): Exceptional - Domi is the best host. Thank you 1000 times for taking care 🙏🏼
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Relaxed quiet omm space in big smelly city --
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Claudio (1/5): The owner pretending you remove your shoes coz it can dust the property when inside is dirty coz he doesn’t clean 😂 - The only thing is that you have your own room but for this price you can find a better place The place is dirty and dusty
