Andrea (1/5): Ostello con pessima posizione e il proprietario è un gran maleducato - - Ostello carino e ben organizzato - Tante amache - Doccia con acqua calda - Wi-Fi ok - Il primo impatto è stato il peggiore perché durante il check-in il proprietario dell’ostello mi ha ricevuto con un’attitudine negativa trattandomi malissimo. L’attenzione al cliente da parte sua è stata veramente pessima e non capisco come una persona del genere con un energia così negativa possa gestire un ostello. - La cucina ha solo due fuochi quindi bisogna mettersi in fila per cucinare. - Il frigo è strapieno e non c’è spazio per mettere il cibo. - L’ostello è lontano da tutto (30 min dal terminal e 20 min dal supermercato) e col caldo che fa a Uvita camminare per raggiungere qualunque posto è una tortura.

Staff kept it very clean, making my bed every day and cleaning the kitchen and floors every morning. I’ve never stayed in a hostel that was so well-kept. I really loved the cabina out back, where my bed was. Nothing!

Deborah (4/5): Okay place, but for a little more money, you could do a lot better - Nice people, decent location right on the main road into town. Good open-air hangout spot to meet other travelers The place smelled pretty bad, especially towards the rear of the property, seems like they might have a septic tank that needs to be emptied. Also the kitchen isn’t well equipped for the number of guests and the fridge is missing shelving, leading to a pile of food of all the people using it. There was a belligerent guest there the one night I stayed, and the staff continued to serve him alcohol even after it was clear that he was becoming more problematic. He eventually had to be thrown out, but not before scaring and bothering most of the other guests. I decided to leave after one day, and they refused to refund the two other nights I had paid for, which was disappointing.
Sergio (8/5): - El concepto de todo debajo del mismo tejado está muy bien, hay muchas hamacas para descansar. - La cocina se queda muy pequeña, solo hay dos fogones y la nevera siempre está saturada (ponedle la balda que falta al menos). -La playa queda a una media hora caminando, y el supermercado a unos 25 minutos. - En la habitación compartida no encienden el AC, y hace mucho calor dentro. - Durante nuestra estancia hubo un incidente grave con uno de los huéspedes, y otros huéspedes tuvieron que involucrarse en la solución ya que el staff no puso esfuerzo de su parte

Cristobal (10/5): Muy grata estancia - El lugar en general estaba muy limpio, incluso las sábanas tenían muy buen olor. César es una gran persona nos ayudó mucho y además tiene algunas clases que hace el mismo muy bien. Tenía unas voluntarias que nos atendieron muy bien. La habitación que nos tocó tenía ventilador y aire acondicionado lo cual ayuda mucho. En realidad nos gustó todo, quizás solo como mejora, es que como estuvimos varios días nos hicieron aseo en la habitación pero no nos avisaron, por lo que teníamos desordenado y ropa interior encima, solo nos hubiera gustado que nos avisaran para ordenar un poco.

Evelyn (10/5): - Muy satisfecha con la atención de don Cesar, de Arturo y del boludo. La cocina amplia, las hamacas y la vegetación alrededor dan sensación de paz y tranquilidad. Ideal para desconectarse. Fuimos a la playa y a las cataratas Uvita, cataratas escondidas y Nauyaca. No tengo ningún comentario negativo. Espero volver.
Melanie (3/5): - Los perritos y los gatos eran muy educados Habíamos reservado en un hostal amplio, con buenas instalaciones de hamacas, cocina amplia y zonas para relajarse, sin embargo nos metieron en una cabaña minúscula y nos restringieron el acceso a las zonas comunes del hostal ofertadas en las fotos de la app por las cuales habíamos pagado. Por otro lado, la cabaña donde nos ubicaron era ocupada también por los voluntarios a cargo, los cuales se despertaban al amanecer (5-5:30am) y hacían muchísimo ruido, perturbando el sueño de los huéspedes que nos encontrábamos allí. En conclusión, una pésima experiencia, no volveríamos jamás.

Anna (8/5): - Buen sitio para pasar un par de noches en Uvita. Las zonas compartidas son geniales para descansar y disfrutar del espacio. La cocina esta bien equipada y se agradece mucho el café por las mañanas. Se puede llegar a todas partes andando, eso sí, no son paseos de 5 minutos. En general falta iluminación en todo el espacio. Unos pequeños detalles como cortinas, luces y echufes individuales o más espacio de almacenaje en la cocina harían de este hostel un espacio ideal.

Good facilities in general. The price is right and good breakfasts. At night you need a flashlight since the property is hand constructed. Lots of rocky walkways uneven floorboards etc. You could trip in the dark so take care.

Marcus (10/5): Excelente experiência! O melhor de Uvita ✌️ - O Hostel Luminosa é excelente, certamente o melhor hostel de Uvita! A área comum tem bastante espaço, com mesas e redes confortáveis para descansar. Os quartos são limpos e organizados. Conta com dois banheiros, que estão localizados bem próximos aos quartos. Os banheiros e quartos são limpos regularmente. É um ambiente de muita paz e sossego, muito silencioso. De manhã é possível escutar o canto dos pássaros pois o hostel é cercado por uma vegetação. O café da manhã é incrível. Comida boa e saudável, uma refeição que vale muito a pena! O hostel é bem localizado e próximo a alguns supermercados, fica a cinco minutos caminhando. Também há alguns restaurantes e uma cafeteria próxima ao hostel. Para quem não gosta de caminhar, há opção de alugar bicicletas por um preço acessível. Vale a pena para quem quer conhecer as praias mais distantes. O hostel conta com serviço de lavanderia das 7 às 12 am, o pessoal foi bastante atencioso com as roupas e o serviço foi bem rápido. No hostel, há quadros com informações mensais de maré (necessárias para quem surfa e para quem vai visitar a praia cola de la Ballena - maré seca), horário de ônibus, localização das praia e cachoeiras e tours disponíveis na região. Ótimo custo benefício. Voltarei, com certeza. O dono César é muito pura vida, excelente pessoa, está sempre disponível para ajudar em qualquer dúvida e aconselhar os melhores locais para visitar.

Randy (10/5): Exceptional - The host was really welcoming :) they even hosted me a sudden birthday party as soon as they knew it was my birthday :)) such a lovely place, close to the main street and the Costa Rican National marine Whale park :'). Affordable and nice, well maintained facilities. I'll go back there in the future if I come once again to Uvita :)

David (5/5): Passable - The hostel is located in a nice piece of land with many trees. It's a great place to chill. It's located between the bus stop and the beach. The kitchen is well equipped. The private room smells terribly like mold...very sad. Just avoid it.
Kelly (10/5): Best visit yet. - Ive stayed at Luminosa several times but it just keeps getting be life tter. I noticed the room was cooler with new fans and if you asked for breakfast the owner makes the best typical breakfast ever with homemade pinto. They also added Friday night Family dinner, which is pasta with 2 drinks for only $11. It was so good. I am vegetarian and had the best pasta of my life. I did the Corcovado Day tour again and it was amazing. Great shuttle service and guides.
José (7/5): Pleasant stay. Loved the cats. - The bed was comfy. There were multiple domestic animals in the hostel (young cats and dogs, very cute and well behaved). Cesar is a chill dude ready to pass the info about whatever (tides, tours, buses, etc) It’s a big walk to get somewhere in the town of Uvita from the hostel. It was raining hard and most of the road had no concrete, just a dirt road. It wasn’t the walk through the multiple holes full of mud. There isn’t a place to dry the clothes when humidity Levels are high. There isn’t a strong fan to help with it.

Farah (7/5): Good - The hostel is located close to the beach and to the different offices that offer whale tours. The hostel is really charming and offer many relaxing spots such as hammocks. The manager is really nice and open to answer our questions. The dorm was really hot at night due to members of the staff (with whom we shared the room) turning the fan down for no apparent reason. Other than that the stay was really enjoyable.

Outdoors shower. The people staying there seemed spaced out and uninterested. Felt like in murukamis cat town, where you can see them but they can't see you. Made me wonder if i'm in fact the ghost. (Probably cool to stay at another time)

The owner Cesar kindly helped me with a bunch of stuff here, they also offer bicycles for renting which makes traveling around uvitas convenient. Dorms are good, sufficiently ventilated. The showers/bathrooms are excellent and clean.

Jessie (10/5): You will leave Luminosa with a sense of homesickness and a deep longing to return. - Luminosa is located a walk away from a lovely fruit and vegetable stand, as well as a supermarket and coffee shop. Costa Rican coffee is to die for and is readily available in the main area at the front desk. There are bikes to rent and the beach is only a 10 minute ride away. The other guests and I harmoniously shared the kitchen and other communal spaces, making meals pleasant. The staff was very nice and helpful, adding to the "home away from home" energy that this hostel radiates. I really liked the locked cupboards and drawers to keep my items safe while I was out exploring. Furthermore, Cesar is super welcoming and friendly, he is the best host I have ever had. Go to him anytime for questions and recommendations. People staying at other hostels in the area would come to visit their friends here at Luminosa and complain they had to return to their hostel because it wasn't as welcoming and relaxing. (I really cant think of anything I didn't like about this place).

Sona (7/5): Great & helpful people, cute space. - It was my first hustle experience, place was cute, owner was very helpful, he went extra mile to suport me with bus information , transportation and many other quations. I met some great people that was in transit there. I could here little animals in the room. Maybe in the roof which I guess normal sense we are in the midle of jungle.defenetly don't leave food in the rooms. I would of like little more privacy in between beds.

The hostel only had one dorm which surprised me, but you connected very quickly with the other backpackers there because of it. The dorm was mixed, but this dorm had a frame in the dorm so that you could change comfortably. The showers were fine. Kitchen was also good. The common area was very big and comfortable. I chose this hostel because of the airconditioning, but when I got there, it didn't work and probably won't ever work. At night we had to keep the doors open for some air flow, and it was cool enough to sleep, but I was attacked by lots of mosquitos. However, during the day it gets extremely hot in Uvita, so some cool air would have been nice. They also have two (very friendly) dogs, and one night they kept barking all night and you heard everything because the doors were open, so I couldn't sleep. While I was there, there was a volunteer working there, but she was there only when someone needed to check in, so if you wanted help or wanted to rent their bikes, it was impossible. The location was also not good, it was very far away from anything like the main road or the beach and it was next to this dirt road that was very uncomfortable to walk on. I would recommend spending a little more money on a hostel with a better location.

Given the fact nothing is close in uvita the location between the beach and the center is also quite convenient. Sometimes you need to wait some time until some shows up at the reception desk.

Ella (8/5): Great athmosphere! - The owner is super nice and helpful as well as the other staff. The hostel is clean and peaceful and has a nice and welcoming athmosphere. You can rent surfboards and bikes and book tours straight from the hostel which is really convenient! We enjoyed our stay :) The kitchen is pretty small so only about 1-2 people can be cooking at the same time. There could be more showers and toilets. It was a bit noisy during the night because there were dogs barking around the neighbourhood.

I made a reservation for place in a big dorm with AC, the one I got was small with only the fan Recepcionist was not aware, what they offer on booking, which makes it even worse... When I asked her about the buses from Uvita, she didn't know anything and started to look for informations in Internet, just to let me know after 15minutes that they actually have a schedule of buses on the board... Bathroom is quite bad. The up bed does not have any railings, so u can easily fell down from it, only one power socket per room.

The bins in the toilet should be bigger or changed more often, because they were overflowing with the used paper which was not nice. Also kitchen would benefit with nice storage for people, you guys could get plastic boxes where people could store their food, there’s plenty of space for that.

Romy (9/5): Good place to stay - It's a cute hostel and the staff is very friendly! To the beach it's a 15 to 20 minute walk. In the morning you get free fruit and the whole day coffee. You have some dogs and cows around you. I enjoyed the stay here.
