Guest Reviews
- Annie (10/5): Fabulous - Absolutely gorgeous house, spotlessly clean, chandeliers and beautiful music to accompany cooked breakfast.
- Mandy (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at La Porte Cochere, with incredible hosts. - Beautiful historic building. Our room was gorgeous. Stephen and Katriana were wonderful hosts who looked after us so well .They were just a lovely couple and we definitely recommend La Porte Cochère if you want a wonderful place to stay in Ypres.
We will be returning in future. Nothing.
- Stephen (10/5): - The location was perfect for us, near the centre of town in a quiet street.
The breakfast was served beautilfully and cooked to order.
Our hosts were exceptionally helpful.
- Rina (9/5): - De gastvrije ontvangst en ruime kamer. Geweldig ontbijt en de gunstige ligging.
- Kathryn (10/5): Perfect authentic Belgian experience, the opposite to a chain hotel. - Loved it. Characterful period building close to the centre of Ypres, an easy walk from the station in one direction and the Cloth Hall and restaurants in the other. Charming bedrooms and bathrooms. Delightful hosts who welcomed us to their home and were interested in our reasons for visiting without being intrusive. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. Would certainly return next time we are in town. Nothing. If you have mobility problems you might find the two flights of stairs to the bedrooms a challenge.
- Jennifer (10/5): Perfect base for exploring Leper - Wonderful warm welcome from our lovely hosts. Great location, easy for walking everywhere in the town of Ieper. Breakfast was exceptionally good and generous. Very comfortable bed, and our room was large, well appointed and clean. Nothing!
- Anne (10/5): Beautiful building, gorgeous furnishings and the best hosts you could ever wish for! - Beautiful building, gorgeous furnishings and the best hosts you could ever wish for! Nothing at all
- Dean (10/5): Excellent stay and staff - Room Size and how quite it was N/A
- Willem (10/5): We hebben genoten van ons verblijf! - Heerlijk ruime en rustige kamer, super ontbijt en fijne gastman en gastvrouw. We hebben genoten van ons verblijf!
- Nathalie (8/5): -
Heel sympathiek. Heerlijk ontbijt.
- Nicki (10/5): The owners were very welcoming and gave us lots of advice and recommendations, and were very welcoming. - It was so central to the main square and menin gate, and the house was so elegant with a beautiful entrance lobby and outside terrace. Our room was a good size just what we needed. The owner’s family had lived there for generations so had a good knowledge of local history. Nothing to complain about
- Chris (10/5): Outstanding B&B!! - Our hosts, room, house & breakfasts were simply put, all absolutely magnificent!
- Martine (10/5): -
- Ruth Vanhamme (8/5): Weekendje Heuvelland - Mooie gerestaureerde woning
- Keith (10/5): We would definitely recommend staying here - We only had two nights In Ypres but picked the perfect place to stay. The Property is in the centre of the town, ideal for site seeing. Both Steven and Katrine were perfect hosts. Steven gave us plenty of information about places to visit with the help of his many books. The room was clean, tidy and had every thing needed. Breakfast was beautifully prepared by Steven and Katrine with fresh bread, pastries, meats and cheeses. They even offered to cook eggs for us. The only negative is that the stairs are very steep.

- Cobb04 (10/5): Amazing house, amazing hosts, great location - A fabulous home in the perfect location. Hosts Steven and Kathryn were wonderful. Extremely helpful and gave us all the information needed to a fantastic stay. Beautifully decorated house with comfortable rooms. You can park outside and the hosts will provide you will a parking disc but limited to 3 hours. To be fair though free parking is only a 5 minute walk away so this wasn't a major issue.
- Gordon (10/5): A beautiful location with ideal hosts. - The location is that of a beautiful period house. It is situated close to the centre of Ypres, within easy walking distance of the Menine Gate and the town centre. Katherine and Stephen were the perfect hosts. The room was huge with character throughout and spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was fabulous with plenty of choices both hot and cold. Our hosts were most helpful, in regards to advising where to visit and where to eat.
- Carl (10/5): Worth every penny - Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. The hosts were brilliant and they even let me tuck my motorbike in there garage for 3 nights at no cost. Breakfast was lovely too. Would definitely stay again.

The property is very close to the centre and only a few minute walk to the Flanders museum. No negative comments to be had.

- Annamarie (9/5): Friendly hosts and perfect location for the town. - Welcoming hosts who provided excellent advice about where to visit in Ypres and nearby. Our room was comfortable and the breakfasts were very good. We’ll be back.
- Justin (9/5): A very friendly and comfortable B&B from which to explore the Ypres area. - A very warm welcome from Katrien who served an excellent and generous breakfast and was helpful in offering local advice. A very central location . No complaints at all but the open bathrooms won't be to everyone's taste - ours was screened off and was no problem for us but some people might find that a little off-putting.
- Leanne (10/5): Wonderful place - Our hosts were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, great selection of foods. The room was beautiful, beds and pillows very comfortable. Great location, able to walk everywhere. Will definitely come back. Nothing
- Goodall (10/5): A great experience with knowledgeable, welcoming and helpful hosts. - The hosts were excellent. Very helpful for planning my days and recommending things to see and do. The room was large, very comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. The bnb is only five minutes walk from historical downtown, restaurants and museums but I never felt unsafe even walking after dark. There isn't anything I would change about this accommodation.
- Jennifer (10/5): A great location, a very comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. - Beautiful and comfortable. N/A
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - This is a very lovely Bed and Breakfast. It is elegant but at the same time cosy and comfortable. No complaints.
- Peter (10/5): Best choice in Ypres - Very hospitable in the truest meaning of the word.
Easy to find, short walk to everything.
Comfortable & quiet at night. At first, I thought it might be noisy in this front facing room as there were several conversations in the street - but it was quiet at night.
Also, there was no TV, but that too was not to dislike. Good WiFi meant i could access news etc should I wish.
- Colin (10/5): Beautiful Ypres - Beautiful Flemish town house in the centre of Ypres. Lovely room and the owners were both welcoming and extremely helpful.
Very good breakfast served in a beautiful dining room.
What’s not to like. Nothing

- Daniel (10/5): An excellent place to stay to explore Ieper/Ypres and the Great War sites - A great location 2-3 minute walk from Ieper town center. Car parking is free and is just 5 minutes walk away. La Porte Cochère is spotlessly clean, my room was very comfortable and had all necessary facilities. Breakfast was very good. The hosts are amazing, friendly, helpful and acommodating. This is somewhere I would stop again in staying in Ieper.
- Daniel (10/5): SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!! Tot volgende jaar! : ) Dank u - Stellar, prime location! Couldn't ask for better. Right in Ieper's heart!!! Beautiful building and bedroom/facilities. Spotless tidiness. Great varied fresh breakfast. Wonderful hosts! <3 Well... I would like to have paid less but, that wouldn't be quite possible (of fair)... X ))
- Lear (10/5): Absolutely stunning - Loved the beautiful house, it was very welcoming and the owner had a lot of knowledge about the area that he shared with us. Our room was beautiful and love the attention to detail. Breakfast was delicious with basically whatever you wanted. Nothing was too hard for Stephen and Katrien, what a lovely couple. Nothing, I love this place and would go back in a heart beat
- Christine (10/5): Wonderful stay in a perfect place - The accommodation was fantastic and very close to the centre of Ypres. Car parking near the accommodation wasn’t great but there was plenty of free parking nearby. Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of choice and plenty of it! The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable.
The owners Kristien and Steve were very helpful and friendly and we felt very welcome in their home. Nothing, it was perfect.
- Hilde (9/5): Excellent B&B in Ypres center - Katrien and her husband told us much about Ypres and its history, which is why we were there. They prepared a delicious breakfast for us. Bread, pastry, yogurt, jams, meat, cheese, coffee, tea, OJ. And eggs and bacon if you want. The room was big and comfortable. Loved opening the windows with breeze. Innkeepers went above and beyond, even giving us postcard stamps when we failed to acquire them before Sunday. And they offered to post the cards the following day. Friendly and attentive but not pushy. Multilingual too. No complaints.

- Johnson (10/5): Lovely bed and breakfast that made our stay more memorable. - This is an old-world elegant bed and breakfast that was actually featured in a national magazine. The owners are gracious and welcoming. We were even lent a book to better fill in the history of the battles that took place in Flanders.
The breakfast we were served was exceptional. Fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, breadbasket, butter, jellies, yogurt, eggs and bacon any way you want them, you couldn't ask for more. If you would like to stay in a beautiful home, close to everything that is a great value, then definitely book a room here. The location is just down the street from the old square and is easy to navigate from to visit the area surrounding the city. We were there to visit historic WWI sites. You cannot go wrong with this bed and breakfast. Nothing!

- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was absolutely lovely, the hosts were delightful and very welcoming, giving us lots of information about places to visit. There wasn't any parking outside, and we had to leave our car a little way off. This was not a problem for us, but perhaps could have been made clearer in the description. This would not us stopping there again.
- Anne (9/5): I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the excellent hospitality. Thank you - Wonderful hosts. Couldn't ask for better. Close to train station. Lovely breakfast. Beautiful accommodation. I found the shower tricky and the bathroom floor creaky. But these were minor problems.
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful property with welcoming quest. Location is perfect. - Location was perfect just a few metres from the main square. The property is beautifully decorated with fantastic hosts. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious. I couldn’t find one fault in our two night stay. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful home and great breakfast
- Cynthia (10/5): the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at. Wonderful breakfast, beautiful house, extremely clean and comfortable -
- James (10/5): Wonderful B&B in Ypres - Superb B&B. Lovely property.
- Tom (9/5): Very welcoming B&B in the centre of Ypres - Very nice bed&breakfast in the centre of Ypres, with friendly and helpful owners. We had a nice room with a very spacious bathroom in a house that is well equipped but has kept its character from the early 20th century. Breakfast is great, was tailored to our wishes and included some homemade marmelades that we appreciated a lot. We will go back to Ypres, and we will stay at the same place for sure ! If something needs to be improved, in a city so close to France there must be a baker that makes even better croissants. But that is really a small detail !
- Marion (9/5): Superb -
