- Vesna (2/5): Never again - Location was the best thing. The worst room we have ever been. Its nothing like the pictures. It was too old, no tv, no wifi, no hot water for showering the first night. Didn't changed the sheets or towels for three days. Also the restorant was too loud, we couldn't sleep neither during the day nor at night. As pregnant woman I was even afraid to go down the stairs because of their condition.
- Jaime (4/5): I would never repeat here. - The location is very good. The old family house is nice and authentic. The restaurant is good. The wooden construction is warm. The heater system is good even with hard cold outside. It has a good value for the money. The bathroom is uncomfortable, the shower does not exists, it’s only a hose coming out from the sink faucet and the water goes direct to the bathroom floor.
The rooms sharing wall with the restaurant are super noisy as you hear the whole time every conversation of the costumers and at dinner time also the musicians playing.
The room is very dark at day.
Only one key room is given.
The owner is professional but rude with the costumers.

- Koppány (9/5): - Nagyon kedves a házigazda, késő estig várt minket. A szállás nagyon autentikus, rengeteg régi tárggyal. Benn van az óvárosban, hangulatos. A fürdőszoba picike, amiben a zuhanyzó egy zuhanyrozsabol áll és közvetlenül a WC mellett van.
- George (10/5): I loved it. Would stay there again! Highly recommended to anyone who would appreciate a property with a character! - Top location! Very authentic! Extremely welcoming and kind business owners and stuff. Excellent food The bed, although wide, was very hard and uncomfortable

- Marie (6/5): Pleasant - The staff is nice, even though some of the time there was no one there. We were welcomed by a man speaking good english. The location is very convenient in the heart of the old city. The room was big and clean. They provided very nice (and huge) picnics for our hike to Vihren (you need to ask the previous day) It is impossible to reach the hotel by car as it is in a pedestrian area, but there are free parkings 2-3 minutes away. The main issue is that this is also a restaurant, and even though it seems that most of the time it is not very busy and closes at 10pm, on our second night they hosted a gathering of 20-25 people who arrived at 9pm and left after midnight, laughing and speaking very loudly in the courtyard right under our room. It was impossible to sleep while they were there, even with the windows closed as the noise was coming through the (wooden) wall. Also I suspect most of the rooms are subject to the music of the mehana next door (not our room).
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): We loved our stay, it’s such a beautiful place, the staff are amazing and great value for money -
- Lexie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cormac (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to stay. The building is very old and quirky, and the room was very cozy. It's in the old town, and is about a 20 minute walk to the ski lift. It didn't affect me, thankfully, but if you have any sort of mobility issues the low doors and narrow stairs might be difficult.
- Alex (9/5): Magical -
- Adam (10/5): Cheap, cheerful, and cosy! - Very cosy, traditional, and in a great location just out of the way of the main hustle and bustle of the ski village. Very reasonably priced with plenty to do in the area.
Would recommend! Nothing really!

- Lex (10/5): We really loved staying here. It has a lovely quaint historic charm to it. We would definitely stay here again next ti - The location of the apartment is excellent. Right in the old town and right near the markets. This is an old place and has plenty of charm and history to enjoy. The WiFi was ok and there was plenty of hot water. When we stayed there weren’t lots of tourists and we managed to find parking close to the apartment. Breakfast was included in our accom and it was enough for us. If you are tall, then just watch the clearance on some of the doorways…they are a little low. Depending on what time of the year you are staying, parking might be a challenge.
- Elisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kiki (3/5): Poor - The Rooms were quite nice The amount of money charged for a very mediocre dinner was absurd. 300 leva, when based on the prices I would expect something around 200 leva.
- Grace (8/5): Fantastic stay in old town Bansko - In the heart of old town, beautiful little tavern with guest rooms, really friendly staff and breakfast served. Room was big and cosy, with nice views. Close enough to walk to ski lift (20 minutes) and to the newer town. They can also organise ski pass if needed but we just picked it up from gondola. The food was incredible! We ate dinner one night and it was super nice. Bathroom was really small and water went everywhere when showering, no shower holder and the shower broke when we were there. Could do with some upgrading.
- Stefan (10/5): A wonderful place to stay in old Bansko - A charming, historic property in the centre of old Bansko. The room was delightful, spacious, warm with an excellent bed and very clean linen. I slept very well and would have gladly stayed longer. Breakfast was served with a smile and of good size. For the price, nothing.
- Kalina (10/5): If you want to feel the spirit of Bansko that this town had in the past - that’s your place! - Me and boyfriend really liked the old spirit that this property has. We felt we were back in the time! Awesome place to stay! The view of the mountains was spectacular! I wish we stayed longer. -
- Julie (10/5): Fantastic stay. - Very interesting quirky property. Lovely warm room and fabulous breakfast. Central location for the old town. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially when we needed to leave with an early checkout.
- Enrico (8/5): Very good - Beautiful old house in the centre of Bansko with beautiful views of the Pirin mountains from the balcony. Perfect for travellers who value authenticity and don't mind low beams.
- Ben (5/5): Passable - Great location, just a stones throw from all the action. The rooms are basic, small but have everything you need. The staff during our stay were very miserable and made us feel very unwelcome.
- Richard (9/5): Dedo Pene Inn - cozy, location, location, location - Breakfast was healthy and changed each day. We stayed on a shoulder season so the hotel was very quiet, yet the staff made sure we had what we needed. No complaints or issues
- Milos (9/5): Great location in the city center - Excellent location in the very center next to the church. There is an ethno restaurant within the accommodation building. Everything is done in the old traditional style. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying. Very low door, especially at the entrance to the toilet, so you have to bend down to get in. The shower curtain is missing.
- Giacomo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Genuine and authentically Bulgarian. The food was the best we have had in Bulgaria. Julia and staff were friendly and helpful. The inn is like a museum with lots of Bulgarian artefacts on display in the bar and restaurant. Would love to return.
- Nikol (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place and great location!
- Ioannis (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful han (traditional inn) from another era!!! - The location is ideal because it is in the center of the old town, next to the main pedestrian street and close to the Town Hall. The breakfast is extremely satisfying and diverse, including coffee, traditional bread or crepes, homemade jam, two types of cheese, honey, and is served in the courtyard, which is the epitome of a picturesque old-world inner courtyard. Nothing !!!
- Cbojan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sanne (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): We spent 3 nights here during the jazz festival. Bansko is a lovely place and I can recommend it. - We had a different Bulgarian breakfast on each of the 3 days we stayed here. All of them were excellent. The immediate neighbourhood is pedestrianised and street parking is very limited. There was a single parking space on site at a cost of 10 лв per day but it was a bit of squeeze to get into it and I only have a smallish car. The location was spot on, right in the centre of the old town with plenty to see and do. It is a lovely, quirky old style hotel with many interesting artefacts to look at. We chose the smallest room. It only just qualified as a double and the space was very limited with no hanging space but it wasn't really a problem because we didn't spend much time in the room except for sleeping there. To be fair, when we peeked through open doors into a couple of the other rooms, they looked spacious.
- Ioannis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karla (7/5): Good -
- Zbyněk (8/5): Very good - Wonderful rustical buildings with nice ambience.
- Parsons (9/5): A very pleasant stay and value for money - very nice place and made to feel very welcome Nothing, it was fine
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional - We received a warm welcome from the family that owns and runs the Inn. Lovely 200 year old building with many handmade fixtures, doors etc. The family was very friendly and we talked over dinner. Food was excellent, made by an elderly lady in house. This is a unique, small inn, not a sterile chain.
- Ermina (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Sonya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stanescu (10/5): Exceptional - Traditional, rustic, beautiful, a hidden gem
- Paola (9/5): Warm and family hosting - the concept as family business with Bulgarian architecture, super warm atmosphere, tasty food and the staff super friendly and welcoming
- Burridge (10/5): Best place to stay in the old town - The rooms were lovely, and the staff were very friendly.
- Ina (10/5): Authentic experience in the heart of Bansko - This is an authentic place in the heart of Bansko. We had a great stay and the hosts were very kind people. The room was small, but it had everything necessary. It is definitely a different experience cause of its traditional Bulgarian details in the hotel and rooms.
You cannot get a better location in Bansko - close to great restaurants, stores and the main street. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. There was Wi-Fi too and it was pretty good. The bed was a bit too hard for me.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isobel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iqbal (10/5): Authentic Bulgarian experience in a early 19th century architecture - perfect location , oozes character and run by an amazingly friendly family old world charm and super friendly owner and staff
- George (7/5): Good - The traditional chalet was cool staff were polite but my 1st room had bed bugs and I got covered in bites after asking the second time to be moved they eventually did I wouldn't stay again just because of this but I was probably just unlucky and second room I didn't have a problem! The bed bugs
- Monika (9/5): Superb -
- Ioannis (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy, old style room made of wood and stone.
Very clean with hot wood stove.
Bathroom's sink made from old copper pot 🍯.
Friendly and joyful stuff.
Beautiful view in a cosy and stylus backyard.
Plenty of hot water 24/7.
Steady double bed 🛏️ with hard but comfortable mattress.
Key chain made of small sheep 🐑 bell 🔔.
In the center of the old Bansko.
To sum up, stay in Dedo pene is a life experience that travel you two centuries ago !!! Nothing
- Chrysoula (8/5): Very good - The room was spacious and warm.
The location is excellent, in the heart of the old city. The internet was not working in the room but it should be repaired soon.
- Sabina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raene (8/5): Very good -
- Raene (8/5): Very good -
- Vanja (6/5): Theres sure better in the area - Good location. The woman cleaning the rooms was doing her best. Bad room. Can hear all the sounds from nearby rooms. Smell of urine. When people in the room upstairs were taking a shower, water was penetrating from my ceiling. Low ceiling, terrible if ur more than 1,7m tall. Noisy floor at every step. Overall I felt bad in the room. Also had to ask to get hot water for a shower the day after. But what p*ssed me off the most was the massonic symbols in the place.
- Colin (9/5): Authentic rustic family run tavern - Backpackers paradise. 200 year old tavern owned and run by the same family for generations. Authentically rustic, don’t expect 5 star attention just genuine homely touches. The coffee was cold
- Raene (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (10/5): Dedo Pene has left a place in my heart. - Everything about my stay was excellent. A feast for the senses, so many interesting things to see and a magical place oozing character which is genuine and sincere. All the staff made me feel like one of the family and Peter (the owner) has found a place in my heart; I kind man with many stories to tell.
The building is from the 1800's and is in excellent sturdy shape and has so much character with its wooden beams and timber work; everywhere you look their is a doorway or a little staircase leading off somewhere.
The food was fantastic, cooked by authentic chefs with years of experience between them.
Breakfast every morning was delicious and varied. The view from my window was amazing. The whole place was immaculately clean.
I cannot recommend this place enough! I couldn't speak more Bulgarian! I will learn more for my next stay in ten months time!
- Alexandra (9/5): Absolutely recommend! - Awesome place to stay! It’s almost as museum inside - incredible. It was clean and comfy. Staff was polite and nice. Breakfast - yummmy, typical Bulgarian and super delicious.
- Gergana (8/5): Very good -
- Cristina (10/5): Exceptional - Great city, great hotel, good food and nice people.
- Micheal (9/5): Superb - Great location in the old town and the house comfortable, with lots of character. Hosts really nice and breakfast excellent. Public parking area/location could be clearer (more of bansko navigation thing). Parking payment using the URBO parking app.
- Djordjevic (8/5): Very good -
